Halloween Horror Nights: La Llorona is BACK!

One of last year's best mazes at Universal's annual Halloween Horror Nights spectacular was no doubt La Llorona! Well, you cannot keep a good ghoul down, and we've just received word that the eater of children will be back for more!

From the Press Release
Universal Studios Hollywood announces the chilling return of ‘La Llorona,’ the fearful story of melancholy and murder that has terrified Mexican and Latin American children for generations, to its Halloween Horror Nights event of authentically disturbing mazes. Beginning September 21, 2012, the 500-year-old legend comes to life anew in the maze, ‘La Llorona: Cazadora de Niños’ or ‘Weeping Woman: The Child Hunter.’

‘La Llorona: Cazadora de Niños’ will feature immersive environments depicting scenes and imagery of a rural Mexican village. This year’s maze will tell the haunting story of ‘La Llorona,’ a beautiful girl named Maria from a poor village who desperately sought to win the affection of a rich nobleman. Rejected and grief stricken, she drowns her children in a river. Overcome with anguish, she drowns herself in a bitter end. According to legend, Maria’s tormented and distressed spirit wanders the earth, eternally piercing the night with mournful cries, “My children! Where are my children?” ― giving rise to her name, ‘La Llorona’ or ‘The Weeping Woman.’ La Llorona’s frail, drenched body lurking throughout the dead of night will invariably elicit unwavering dread from the helpless village inhabitants or maze guests, as her presence signifies impending death.

The ‘La Llorona: Cazadora de Niños’ maze will lure guests into rotting chambers and crypts flanked by decomposed and tortured souls who have met the cruel fate of death and the mournful cries of ‘La Llorona.’ The maze disturbingly journeys guests through the mind’s eye of a child’s nightmare seeded with all the dread, gore and evil that can be imagined.

“At its core, La Llorona is a ghost story so we’re building off the very successful elements of last year’s haunted attraction by adding brand new special effects that speak more to the paranormal side of the story. It’s like tapping into a child’s imagination and creating physical manifestations of those fears. Ultimately, we hope it leads to an even more terrifying experience,” said John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood.

“Last year we brought the legend of La Llorona to life for the first time as a maze at Halloween Horror Nights. It was wildly popular with guests familiar with the story and those introduced to the legend for the very first time,” said Murdy. “At that time, I had the opportunity to speak with many of our guests, who shared their personal stories of La Llorona, particularly how she haunted their dreams as children. I found this to be a particularly compelling perspective and created this year’s maze to tell the story of La Llorona through the eyes of a child.”

Beginning September 21, 2012, Halloween Horror Nights will bring 19 fear-filled nights with numerous terror-filled “Scare Zones” and unrivaled film production quality mazes uniquely themed to today’s most definitive horror properties to deliver the most compelling, spine-chilling, haunted attractions. This year’s Halloween Horror Nights (Hollywood) dates are September 21, 22, 28, 29 and October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31. In Orlando they are September 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30 and October 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31.

The fun quickly becomes a nightmare when three of them end up locked in a compact, hot sauna. The Story of Dracula Begins Found Footage Style in New Trilogy

Meat Loaf Has Stage FrightHey, stranger things have worked, right? Why not throw a cinéma vérité modern twist on Bram Stoker's classic tale of love, lust, and bite-happy fiends who can transform into animals? Read on for all the latest details on what we're talking about!

From the Press Release
Shortly after Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson called it quits, Telly Award-winning actor Timothy Woodward, Jr., in conjunction with Sky Studios, a partner of on-demand giant Hulu, announce that they are are poised to tackle the timeless tale of Dracula. Pia Cook (writer of the much anticipated film Blackout starring Woodward, Jr. and Emmy award-winning actor and star of the hit film Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, Bill Oberst, Jr.) has crafted a uniquely modern script that takes one of the most infamous villains and casts him in a surprising and refreshingly positive light.

Filming of the first installment is scheduled to begin this month and will be styled as a documentary of a medical student who is working to uncover a cure for leukemia. The audience will go through the process with Drake as he becomes his own test subject by injecting himself with the deadly virus. After a few unfortunate miscalculations we will see Drake's horrific transformation into "Dracula".

This found footage film will be released exclusively on the Internet and is expected to go viral and become an instant cult classic as the audience gets pulled into a uniquely personal portrayal of Drake, the good intentioned medical student with the project that goes awry.

According to Woodward, the film will be shot using almost entirely natural light to give it an authentic look of a home video. Once the series is launched on the web and other on-demand platforms, production of the second, more traditionally shot installment will commence and will be ready to be released approximately 30 days later.

Dracula is one of the most beloved characters in film history. This series will give new life to the story and allow horror fans of younger generations to connect with him in an idiosyncratic way.

A New Pack of Wolves Is Headed Our Way!

A New Pack of Wolves Is Headed Our Way!It's good to see werewolves getting so much love lately. At least those damned Twilight flicks were good for something. In any event, there's more hairy horror headed our way. Read on for the first details on David Hayter's Wolves.

From the Press Release
Copperheart Entertainment, French financier-sales agent TF1 International and Telefim Canada will co-finance the feature film WOLVES, written and directed by David Hayter (writer of X-Men).

WOLVES is Hayter’s directorial debut, and it will shoot in Toronto this fall, starring Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) in the lead. The action-thriller is being produced by Copperheart’s Steve Hoban and executive produced by Benedict Carver.

“We are delighted to be backing this exciting movie that marks David’s debut as a filmmaker,” said Sabine Chemaly, EVP International Distribution of TF1 International. “This is exactly the kind of commercial genre film that TF1 International wants to be delivering to its distributors around the world.”

Entertainment One has acquired all Canadian rights to the film. The producers will handle sales rights in the US, the UK and Benelux while TF1 International will handle sales in the rest of the world. Steven Paul and Hartley Gorenstein are also executive producing.

WOLVES follows the story of Caleb Richards (Till) - a young, handsome eighteen-year-old with an edge. Forced to hit the road after the death of his parents, Caleb finds his way to an isolated town to hunt down the truths of his ancestry. But in the end, who's hunting whom?

With WOLVES Hayter’s goal is to start an original franchise that avoids many of the cliches that have become associated with werewolf films. Igor Studios’ Dave Elsey is designing the original creatures for Wolves, hot off his success creating “Beast” for X-Men: First Class, for which he recently won a Saturn Award.

"I am so excited to be going into production on WOLVES. This is a story that is close to my heart and a film that I hope will be a departure for the genre," said Hayter.

Hayter’s other writing credits include X2: X-Men United, The Scorpion King and Watchmen. He is also well known as the voice of “Solid Snake” in the Konami videogame franchise Metal Gear Solid. He is repped by UTA and attorney Dave Feldman.

Zombie Author J.R. Angelella Talks Body Parts, Neckties, His Own Zombie Code, and More!

$

Last month we told you about the new book Zombie by J.R. Angelella, and it sounded so intriguing we decided to chat a bit with the author about his inspiration for the novel, which includes a studied appreciation for the finer points of zombie cinema, along with a few other topics.

Dread Central: What inspired you to tackle the zombie sub-genre? We heard something about you being held up at gunpoint; can you elaborate?

J.R. Angelella: It’s funny that you mention the robbery because I have tried to write about that night for many years and have not been able to in any kind of successful way. Writing can feel so removed emotionally from what an event like that does to a person that the story feels more symbolic of suffering through the experience, rather than really sinking into the reality of it. The robbery is responsible for my simultaneous abhorrence and obsession with violence, specifically in the arts.

The zombie sub-genre really came about at the 11th hour, so to speak. Several editors thought the novel was missing something. I decided to re-read the book from start to finish, something I hadn’t really done for a few years. A line jumped out at me (a line that coincidentally no longer exists, if memory serves correct): a description of the Plaids hazing Jeremy, our narrator, by grabbing and lifting him by his legs and arms. Jeremy describes them as zombies wanting to pull him apart limb-by-limb. For some reason this line stopped me. In addition to searching for the missing piece of my novel’s puzzle, I wanted to find ways of further connecting Jeremy to his father and really solidifying their bond as a father and son. Then the lights turned on. It just hit me. They were both zombie aficionados. This was their bond. Zombies were the missing piece.

I spent the next few months researching zombie films, taking notes on scenes that would fit well in the book, examining zombie film story structure, and so on. The zombie sub-genre connected to the content in ways that readers are still bringing to my attention that I had not realized. I did a final rewrite, adding in all of the zombie-rific material, and it was then that I knew it was done.

Zombie Author J.R. Angelella Talks Body Parts, Neckties, His Own Zombie Code, and More!

DC: What role do necktie knots play in Zombie? What do the knots—Windsor, Half-Windsor, and Limp Dick—say about the men that wear them? Where did the idea of the knots come from?

JRA: My father taught me to tie a necktie when I attended a private school where neckties were required by the boys. Most of the kids wore clip-ons, but my father was insistent on teaching me to tie my own tie. It was something his father had taught him and he wanted to pass on to me. He taught me the Windsor and Half-Windsor and the Basic knot as a foundation to build on. But he never referred to the Basic in as colorful language as Ballentine calling it a "Limp Dick." My father was fond of the various Windsors, even the Double Windsor, which he had the most difficulty tying.

In high school most kids still tied these gnarly little knots that looked more like rope knots you’d find tied between a dock and a boat. Like my father, I preferred the Half-Windsor.

Recently I received an email from a reader who only had one question: Did I make a certain character wear a clip-on tie because his character is gay? Clearly, this was not my intention, delineating a character’s sexual preference by the type of necktie he wears, but the various knots presented in the book had her thinking about their possible classifications and meaning and trying to figure out their placement within the novel. I loved it! (NOTE: I wrote back to this analytical reader the truth about the clip-on tie—that the character in question wears a clip-on not because he is gay, but because he is simply lazy.)

An interesting fact to be noted, I think, is that the opening to Zombie, the drive to school and Jeremy’s first day, was the first thing I wrote for this book and in a single sitting.

DC: Human interaction (or lack thereof) and physicality are described in great detail and to varying effects throughout the book. How do surgery and body parts fit into the landscape of this novel overall?

JRA: I am immensely pleased that you picked up on the varying degrees of human interaction, physicality, and body part aspects to the novel. Before the zombie movies were assigned as the chapter titles in the novel, I named the sections for body parts. Hand. Foot. Tongue. Neck. You get the idea. If you read each section in its entirety, you should be able to pinpoint which body part that particular section used to be. Once I worked out the zombie motif, renaming the sections after Jeremy’s favorite films was a no-brainer.

Surgery, body parts, physicality, contact—these are all overtly present throughout the book and act as a trail leading us to the house on Tiller Drive. People are shocked or surprised by the ending. But re-read the first few chapters. Look back at Jeremy’s journey...I don’t believe readers should see the end coming (if they do, then I haven’t done my job), but a novel called "Zombie" is not really bound to end well. Can you name a zombie movie where nothing gory, violent, or bad happens?

I thought a lot about the biblical passage Matthew 5: 29–30 when I was writing. It states: “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.” It seemed appropriate for all characters involved, the question being: How do we remove those unwanted parts of ourselves that are woven into the fabric of our being? Or, more importantly: Is there way to redeem ourselves from ourselves?

Zombie Author J.R. Angelella Talks Body Parts, Neckties, His Own Zombie Code, and More!DC: Zombie is a mash-up of genres. Part classic zombie story, part coming-of-age narrative. What do you offer especially for the horror fan, and are you concerned at all about using too much of a "kitchen sink" approach?

JRA: I laughed when I first read this question because there is an old tradition where you place the name my home town, Baltimore, in front of a “kitchen sink-esque” recipe. Baltimore Chicken. Baltimore Omelet. Baltimore Stew. Baltimore Sloppy Joe Surprise. The idea is that you just throw any ingredients you have on hand into the dish and a "Baltimore" dish it becomes.

Needless to say, that wasn’t my approach to writing Zombie. Most of my fiction seems to be genre-mixing, no matter how hard I try to stick within a single genre. I love so many different genres that I am always wanting to borrow a little from here and a little from there and see what I come up with. It’s what keeps me interested because if I’m not interested, then a reader absolutely won’t be either. I’ll admit that later on in the editing stages, my brilliant editor, Mark Doten at Soho Press, helped to dial in and focus the individual genre aspects, making them each sharper and braided together more seamlessly.

Zombie definitely comes across as your typical coming-of-age story but quickly morphs into something else. You start off on one journey and end up on a completely different one. One bookseller who read an advanced reader copy said, "It starts out as a Wes Anderson film and ends up a Wes Craven film." That made a lot of sense to me. It straddles the line of a family drama, romance, addiction narrative and a zombie horror nightmare. The book makes few, if any, apologies for its content and, I hope, gives the horror fans exactly what they would seek out in a straightforward horror novel. One of my favorite aspects to the book is all of the zombie references—some notable, some obscure. The beauty of this book is that while titled "Zombie," it welcomes fans of any horror genre. Trust me. The ending does not disappoint.

DC: Given the title, isn't it a bit of a risk not to have any actual zombies in the book? Or are there maybe a few in there after all?

JRA: It is absolutely a risk to title a book Zombie when it’s not really a zombie book at all. But this just isn’t a brain-chewing living dead book. It’s more.

In Zombie every character fights some self-reflexive, cannibal-like demon, whether it be an addiction or their own naiveté or ill-fated belief. Some characters attempt to overcome. Some characters do not overcome. Some characters’ storylines are left unfinished, as they are still struggling to overcome. In a way these could be individual zombies. Just not dead ones. Then again, maybe not.

Technically, I suppose, it could be argued that there are undead zombies in the book, if you count the numerous zombie movies that the narrator watches and all of the scenes he recounts, applying them to his own life.

I guess the best way to answer your questions is with a question: Yes?

DC: What are some of your favorite zombie movies? What is it about them that you like? What are your least favorite?

JRA: Gosh. I watched so many. Too many. I love all of those mentioned in the book. Night of the Living Dead is probably one of my top five favorite films of all time. I really dislike the more schlocky zombie movies with bad synthesized musical scores and lazy special effects. Films that didn’t quite make it to the book that really made an impact on me were Deadgirl and Dead Snow. Neither is for the faint of heart. Deadgirl is a slick take on the high school drama that takes a severely wicked and unsettling turn when our teenage boys discover a, well, dead girl in an abandoned warehouse. Dead Snow is more fun—medical students vacationing in a cabin on a mountain discover buried treasure that belongs to an army of zombie Nazi soldiers who come to collect. The rest of the film you can probably imagine. Probably the goriest film I’ve ever seen. Both were unsettling for different reasons. Must see movies for zombie fans, but unless you like films about insanely disturbed high school kids or hyper-gore fest films about Nazis, then you should probably skip these.

DC: Let's say you are alone in the house and asleep upstairs in your bedroom when the zombie apocalypse happens. What's your "code"? Weapon of choice? Who do you want on your team?

JRA: Wow. This is the first time I have ever been asked this. I don’t know. Um. There are so many factors to take into consideration. First of all, it depends how humans become infected. Is it blood-to-blood contact? A bite? Or do we just have to stay alive and not die because in death is when we become zombies, rising from the ground? Or are we going way back to the hoodoo/voodoo idea of zombies and people just put into a trance? I think once I figure these rules out, I can make a more educated guess.

For the sake of argument, let’s just say we’re dealing with blood-to-blood infection, like in 28 Days Later. Under these circumstances heavy artillery is ideal. The farther away you remain the better chances you have of survival. (I mean, don’t get bit would probably be my first and final code.). Also, fortified transportation—preferably something with 4-wheel drive, some kind of bumper-guardrail, and big ass tires. Generally speaking, moving about in groups or large numbers is never a good idea and will absolutely box you into a situation that will get you bit. (See my only code referenced above.) I would most likely remain solo, although family would be allowed to stay with me so long as they don’t get all crazy and hysterical on me. My main goal would be to fight my way to the nearest body of water and commandeer a boat. In order for this to work effectively, however, I would also need to stock up on gasoline, food, and ammunition. The water would prove to be the best place, in my opinion, to seek solace from a zombie apocalypse, at least to kill time until things settled down. Zombies aren’t traditionally known for their swimming abilities.

Our thanks to J.R. for his time and to Meredith at Soho Press for coordinating our interview!

Synopsis:
Fourteen-year-old Jeremy Barker attends an all-boys Catholic high school where roving gangs of bullies make his days a living hell. His mother is an absentee pillhead, his older brother a self-diagnosed sex-addict, and his father disappears night after night without explanation. Jeremy navigates it all with a code cobbled together from the zombie movies he's obsessed with: Night of the Living Dead, 28 Days Later, Planet Terror, Zombieland, and Dawn of the Dead among others.

The code is put to the test when he discovers in his father's closet a bizarre homemade video of a man strapped to a bed, being prepped for some sort of surgical procedure. As Jeremy attempts to trace the origin of the video, this remarkable debut moves from its sharp, precocious beginnnings to a climax of almost unthinkable violence, testing him, and the reader, to the core.

This bumper release will hit the streets on 22 October 2012 as a limited edition three-disc steelbook and special edition DVD, complete with newly commissioned bonus material produced by bonus feature specialists Severin Films.

"What’s in the basket?" A question Duane Bradley is asked a lot when he arrives in New York and checks into the sleazy Hotel Broslin, a place filled with drunks, odd-bods and prostitutes. We soon discover the answer; inside is his grotesquely deformed brother, Belial. Separated at birth in a brutal operation, the Siamese twins have come looking for revenge on the doctors that left Belial for dead, and now the basket-dweller is ready to wreak blood-soaked carnage. Where the original classic ends, the sequels pick up, and things start to get really deranged when the brothers meet their long lost aunt ‘Granny Ruth’ and her houseful of freaks.

Special features in the set include:
What’s in the Basket? – A look at the making of the trilogy with director Frank Henenlotter; actors Kevin VanHentenryck, Beverly Bonner, Annie Ross; producers Edgar Ievans and James Glickenhaus; make-up effects artists John Caglione, Jr., Kevin Haney, Gabe Bartalos; and writer Uncle Bob Martin
• An Interview with Graham Humphreys – A look at the career of the legendary film poster artist

Additional extras for the original film include:
• Video Introduction by Frank Henenlotter
• Audio Commentary by Frank Henenlotter, Edgar Ievans, and Beverly Bonner
• Outtakes/Behind-the-Scenes
• 2001 Video Short – The Hotel Broslin
• Trailer/Radio Spots

Paramount is making the chance to see Paranormal Activity 4 first in your city even easier. As if the Facebook app and web vote on the official sites weren't easy enough, now you can just shoot the powers-that-be a quick text! But wait! It gets even better!

Those who text “WantIt” to 21534 will receive an exclusive cut of the trailer, including additional footage, and will be the first to get other newly released content from the film. Pretty neat, huh?

And if you missed the initial details of the Want It campaign...

From the Press Release
Fans of "PARANORMAL ACTIVITY" are being empowered to bring the movie to their city first. Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., will debut the fourth installment in the popular horror franchise exclusively in 25 cities around the world by encouraging fans to vote to see it first with a new “Want It” application on Facebook.

Facebook’s 955 million global fans can vote for an advance screening in their city by clicking on the “Want It” button on the film’s fan page.

“Want It” is a dynamic application utilizing Facebook’s open graph technology that gives fans the opportunity to vote to bring the franchise to their city and leverage their social networks to ensure they are one of the top 25 winning locations. The application recognizes a fan’s geo-location according to their Facebook profile and automatically registers a vote to bring the film to their city first. Votes will be shared on a fan’s page and automatically posted to the Facebook newsfeed to rally their peers to bring the film to their city first, too.

The application feeds individual votes into a dynamic leader board that shows the ranking of every city in real time. Audiences can track the top cities as well as the ranking of their own city and push out reminders encouraging friends to vote. “Want It” brings an unprecedented level of interactivity for fans in determining screenings of the movie.

“There’s a very special connection between ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’ and Facebook,” said Matt Jacobson, head of market development at Facebook. “Four years after the initial success of the franchise and the establishment of a passionate fan community, we’re excited to see continued iteration on a franchise that was born on Facebook. Paramount is using both the Facebook platform and media to drive awareness of the film, three months out, and we will continue to drive awareness and intent at scale as we approach opening weekend in October.”

“The success of ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’ began with the fans who have championed the movie franchise from the very beginning through social media,” said Amy Powell, Executive Vice President of Interactive Marketing. “Now we're creating an even more dynamic experience among the film’s community of fans, and for the first time we're giving them an opportunity to go head-to-head on Facebook with fans around the world to determine the 25 cities who get to see ‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4’ before it opens.”

Fans can also vote at the film’s website, ParanormalMovie.com.

Paranormal Activity 4 will open nationwide on October 19th, and per usual, most details for the film are being kept under wraps. Paranormal Activity 3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have returned to helm for Paramount Pictures based on a script by Zack Estrin (a writer/executive producer on ABC's "The River").

Dark Tower Talk Revived at Warner Brothers; Javier Bardem Out - Russell Crowe In?

Interesting news coming out of the home that the Bunny built! Will this latest King adaptation finally come to pass, or is the Gunslinger still shooting blanks? Read on for the latest.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is getting a new script from Akiva Goldsman for the first installment of Stephen King’s mammoth Western The Dark Tower, and within two weeks the studio will be making a decision on whether to greenlight the first leg of one of the most daring and ambitious projects to come along since The Lord of the Rings.

Javier Bardem is no longer in the mix as gunslinger Roland Deschain. Deadline reports that director Ron Howard and producers Brian Grazer and Goldsman have been talking with their A Beautiful Mind star Russell Crowe about playing Deschain. While there is no deal with Crowe, that is the star that Warner Bros will be evaluating as the studio decides on whether to take a leap on a nine-volume book that has a huge following, with Howard, King and their partners planning a multi-platform presentation that could be unforgettable. The story will be told through three films and two limited run TV series.

With regard to the TV element, Grazer said in a previous interview that component would move to HBO, and an arrangement with them (they are Warner's sister studio) makes a lot of sense.

The Dark Tower is about the last living member of a knightly order of gunslingers with Deschain becoming humanity’s last hope to save civilization as he hits the road to find the Dark Tower. Along the way he encounters characters, good and bad, in a world that has an Old West feel.

Look for more soon!

  • Exclusive Early Look at the Chopper Season One Finale and Chance to Win Some Free Swag

We've been talking about the web series Chopper for a while now, and to coincide with the final weekend of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival (one of the show's sponsors), we've been given an early look at the Season One finale (aka Slice 9) to share with our readers.

DILEMMA, a Los Angeles-based Branded Entertainment and Marketing Communications Agency, is releasing the ninth and final episode of Season 1 of its successful horror series Chopper as an exclusive with Dread Central for the entire weekend starting today, August 3rd. The first eight episodes and promotional videos for the series have already generated over 2 million branded views for presenting sponsors Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and Sullen Clothing this past year after the series’ producers began strategically rolling out content shortly after filming took place on location during Mayhem Festival 2011.

International fright icons Tyler Mane (Michael Myers, Rob Zombie's Halloween) and Andrew Bryniarski (Leatherface, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) have been showcased alongside rising stars Tim Phillipps (The CW’s "The Secret Circle"), Victor Newmark ("Sons of Anarchy"), Ruth Pineda ("LA Ink"), Quinn Dahle ("Conan O’Brien"), and others throughout the series as past episodes have been unveiled via the Chopper YouTube Channel, where you can catch up on the previous eight episodes.

The series also features music and cameos from heavy metal legends Ministry and Machine Head as well as other rocking bands including Unearth, The Slow Forward, Lords of Ruin, Dismantled, Underoath, and Straight Line Stitch. Additionally, the band Attika7 - fronted by former Biohazard singer Evan Seinfeld - has numerous songs featured from their debut album Blood of My Enemies, which was also just released this past week.

    Synopsis
Chopper is a contemporary spin on the timeless Sleepy Hollow mythology. Storylines revolve around a headless outlaw biker seeking vengeance in the afterlife by killing mortal sinners. The series serves as a prequel storyline to the Chopper comic written by Martin Shapiro, which was released last Halloween by Asylum Press. DILEMMA’s principal J.C. Christofilis also served as writer, producer, and director on the series and worked closely with the Rockstar Mayhem Fest promoters to actually integrate the festival as a pivotal location in the storyline.

J.C. noted, “I have a genuine passion for horror and heavy metal, and my intent has always been to create an experience that truly merges the best of both these worlds with an innovative concept perfectly suited for story extensions via online, film, television, music, and gaming platforms. The combination of placing iconic Hollywood talent from the horror genre against the premier backdrop for world-class rock bands has resulted in a hardcore cocktail of gut-wrenching gore and ear-splitting tunes that fans are clearly excited about.”

The show’s producers tested various release patterns and witnessed social media traction as episodes for Season 1 were released in a staggered fashion to allow time for reshoots that infused Season 1 with more characters, more VFX, and more music after the success of initial episodes set the stage for expanded storylines. J.C. added, “Season 1 of the Chopper series has given birth to a fun, original fright icon that has the potential to become the next great horror franchise. We’re excited to bring fans the explosive end to our first batch of online backstories that will enhance the overall experience as Chopper’s legend continues to grow. And I personally want to thank my friends at Rockstar Mayhem Fest and Sullen for being bold enough to support such killer content here at the outset.”

Exclusive Early Look at the Chopper Season One Finale and Chance to Win Some Free Swag
