The first teaser for HBO and the BBC Two's upcoming docudrama The Girl, which chronicles director Alfred Hitchcock's obsessive relationship with his The Birds star Tippi Hedren, has hit the web and we have it for you here! Dig it!

HBO will be premiering the flick Stateside on October 20th. The Wall to Wall Television production of The Girl is produced by Amanda Jenks and executive produced by Leanne Klein for Wall to Wall and Lucy Richer at the BBC.

According to BBC Two, Hedren has cooperated by giving interviews to writer Gwyneth Hughes, while Hitchcock biographer Donald Spoto is attached as a consultant. Becoming Jane’s Julian Jarrold is directing with Sienna Miller starring as Hedren and Toby Jones as Hitchcock. Imelda Staunton and Penelope Wilton are also in the cast.

Hitchcock was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film — The Birds. But as he sculpted Hedren into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. His failure arguably destroyed both of their careers. In a statement Hughes said: “It’s been the most enormous privilege to talk at length to Tippi Hedren, the last ‘Hitchcock blonde’ in the life of Britain’s most original and successful film director. At the time, in the early 1960s, the American star suffered in silence. But now, at the age of 81, her wisdom and insights have helped me to put her real life ordeal on to the screen.

This year’s installment of the annual Halloween-adjacent special will air on Sunday, October 7, executive producer Al Jean tells TVLine.

First up, The Simpsons' Marty McFly act. “Bart goes back and prevents Marge and Homer from ever getting married, and we see what happens next,” says the showrunner. (For what it’s worth, Jon Lovitz – who voices Marge’s high school paramour Artie Ziff, among other characters – is involved.) Another segment is “a found-footage parody” – in the vein of Paranormal Activity – “where something really strange is going on in the Simpson house,” he adds. Also on tap: “We have a segment where a mini black hole terrorizes Springfield and starts sucking everything in, and it’s to tie into the discovery this summer of the Higgs boson,” he says, referring to the so-called “God particle.” (Attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a sneak peek of this part of the ep.) Finally, Jean adds, “We also deal a little with the Mayan prophecy of the world ending this year.

The Jackson Estate and John Landis Settle Thriller Dispute

$

Say what you will about Michael Jackson, Thriller is arguably one of the single greatest music videos of all time. Sadly, due to disputes between the Jackson Estate and director John Landis, all that's available now are crappy standard definition versions of it here and there.

Thankfully this fact may finally change...

According to The Hollywood Reporter the estate of Michael Jackson has put the finishing touches on a deal with director John Landis and producer George Folsey, Jr., that resolves litigation concerning net profits on the late singer's Thriller video as well as a fight over a previously planned musical theater production of the hit song/video.

In January 2009, Landis and Folsey sued Jackson and his company, Optimum Productions, claiming they were still owed money for work on the 14-minute video. Then Jackson died in June of that year, prompting anyone with a debt to file a claim on his estate. Hundreds of claims were made, including from Landis and Folsey, who alleged that $2.3 million was owed.

Most of those claims have been resolved. In July the estate told a Los Angeles Superior Court that it had made enough money to pay off the estimated $500 million of debt that Jackson left when he died.

As part of Jackson's litigation with Landis, the director also asserted that he owned at least 50 percent of the "separated rights" to the Thriller video, which he said entitled him to "dramatic rights" derivations like stage adaptations.

That being said... Blu-ray anyone?

Is a Re-Possession in Our Future? Sam Raimi Talks Possible Sequel(s) to The Possession

Sam Raimi Stops Unauthorized Evil Dead 4With The Possession winning this weekend's box office, its producer, Sam Raimi, was asked about the possibility of further stories to be told in the universe of the film's antagonistic Dybbuk box, and it seems Ghost House Pictures is ready to proceed if all the right pieces come together.

Chatting with MTV, Raimi said, "There are so many tales of the original Dybbuk box that never made it to the screen in this version. It's really out there, that thing. People do have so many stories. Ghost House Pictures has gone ahead and purchased the rights to their stories to make into a film so [a sequel is] possible. But I think it will all depend on if Ole Bornedal was interested and if a very meaningful screenplay could be written from the remaining materials."

As for why he was interested in the Dybbuk myth in the first place, Raimi explained, "I had read Paddy Chayefsky's The Tenth Man. It was really scary. That was the only piece I had read about a Dybbuk, the demon of Jewish lore, in a story. When I read this Los Angeles Times article that was written by Leslie Gornstein called "Jinx in a Box," I thought it was really scary. I'm Jewish, but I hadn't much thought about what my religion believes as far as the supernatural. All I'd seen were really dramatized films like The Exorcist or The Omen, which are more or less based on the New Testament. This is an Old Testament demon, which is very scary to me. Part of me was curious, part of me thought it was very original. Reading the website for the Dybbuk box, it was just terrifying. It seemed like it was real."

There are a few other choice tidbits in the interview, including Raimi mentioning he's already thinking about putting the amazing young Possession star Natasha Calis ("Emily") in his next picture, so be sure to hit the link at the bottom of the page for the rest.

The Possession centers upon a family who find themselves in possession of a haunted box and their struggles to get rid of its evil curse. The jumping off point is a true story culled from the Leslie Gornstein-bylined Los Angeles Times article "A Jinx in A Box" (July 2004).

Based on true events, The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

Exclusive Interview: Udo Kier Talks Iron Sky, His Horror Roots, and Lots More!

$

Exclusive Interview: Udo Kier Talks Iron Sky, His Horror Roots, and Lots MoreUdo Kier has worked with the likes of Lars Von Trier, Gus Van Sant, and Rob Zombie. He’s portrayed Dracula (and assorted other vamps), Hitler, and Jekyll and is still going strong after over three decades of acting, his latest role being in Nazis-on-the-moon horror-comedy Iron Sky.

Some would say it’s his piercing blue eyes and thick accent that cement Kier’s presence as deliciously memorable regardless of the size of the part. I would also say it's his unique presence, the way he moves with such elegance and a dash of old world, unearthly sexuality and a twinkle of humor.

This time around we find Kier on the dark side of the moon playing Nazi leader Wolfgang Kortzfleisch. The movie takes place in 2018, in a world with a political landscape much like our own, filled with propaganda, global infighting, and a race for new fuel. Little does the world know that they're in for a second Nazi invasion. The Reich have been hiding out in their secret moon base waiting for their time to take back what is theirs—the world.

We recently had the chance to chat with Kier, who takes us through this process and other key projects which have made up one hell of a movie career. We bring you the man, the moon Nazi (now at a theater near you): Udo Kier.

Heather Buckley: What do you do to prepare to play a Nazi?

Udo Kier: Well, you have to say it a different way, obviously. A 'Nazi’ and a Nazi are two different things. In my life I’ve played, in comedy twice, Adolf Hitler. I played in Rob Zombie a Nazi, also comedy Werewolf Women of the S.S. for Grindhouse, and this film. I’ve never played, being German, a serious, let's say, role, where I was supposed to be a real Nazi with real evil ambition. And how do you prepare? How can any actor prepare themselves when they get an offer to be a Nazi on the moon? It’s like, you cannot prepare yourself; it’s just the uniform, the text, and the situation...what is important about this film, and how it was made. [Iron Sky] was partially financed by the internet. The trailer itself now has ten million hits on the internet, and it was for years they tried to find money for this film.

They did ask me, the director, Timo [Vuorensola], years ago, and it was on the IMDB and everybody said, ‘What is this film, you play a Nazi leader on the moon?’ and when they offered me the script, I mean, when they offered me the film years ago and they sent me the script, and it said ‘Nazis on the moon!’ and I said, ‘What? Nazis on the moon?’ So I read the script and I realized that it was a black comedy, and I liked it, and technically it was amazing because they showed me the storyboards and the concept of the film, and then we filmed a week in Frankfurt. Then we all met in Australia, and they had the water everywhere, and we shot it there.

Basically the whole big studio was a green box. We just looked at the storyboards, at what was going to be the next situation. So I prepared myself just by situation and by learning my lines, and trying to be serious, because comedy... to play comedy is very different and very, very difficult because you have to be very serious, and then people laugh. If you already try to be funny, it doesn’t work. Only Jim Carrey can be… he is brilliant, I did, with him Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, one of my first films in America, and he is brilliant, but he is a comedian, and he knows very well how to do that.

Heather Buckley: Is there a difference between acting in your native language and doing roles in English?

Udo Kier: Not anymore because I came for my first film to America for Gus Van Sant, My Own Private Idaho, which I think was 24 years ago, and now I’m 24 years in America, and now it’s like, I think I even dream in English. It’s like, sometimes I go to Germany and I have to be careful because when I do interviews sometimes, I don’t find the words, and I say, ‘How do you say?’ and you have to be really careful because the journalists can be really pissed that you forgot your own language. No, it’s no different anymore. It’s like, if there is a lot of text or something, of course, it would be better in German, and I still work a lot in Germany, I just played the Pope in the Borgia TV series in Germany. They had two Borgias, The Pope in America was played by Jeremy Irons; I played the Pope in Czechoslovakia in the TV show, and I just played in a Turkish film, so it is a language that is for me no problem, even for voiceover; I just did it yesterday. I did Scooby-Doo, and now I’m doing Batman (just the voice), and no, I don’t see there being any difference anymore.

Heather Buckley: How do these amazing parts find you? Because you just went over working with Van Sant to doing Scooby-Doo to doing satirical looks at the Reich—do you go with the character, do you go with the story, do the directors just stalk you down and go, ‘I need to work with Udo Kier!’?

Udo Kier: First, I like certain directors. Gus Van Sant, for example, discovered me for America. I met him at a festival, and we developed... 24 years ago there was no internet, we had no fax, we wrote letters and developed the character at a distance, and thanks to him I got my Social Security number in America and my permit here to stay. And I say the director is important. I’m working on 24 years in this country, and I’ve done many films. Tthe last one was Melancholia, and I’m off now to Germany to play a part in Nymphomania with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Nicole Kidman and the nice boy from the Transformers; he is playing in it. So that is my next step. The thing is, I like directors, certain directors; for example, I love David Lynch.

Heather Buckley: What do you like about Lynch’s work?

Udo Kier: Because it is different. Lars von Trier is different. Gus Van Sant is different, Cronenberg is different. They don’t follow the clichés, the rules. They make their own, they write their own scripts. Much more realistic, the acting is better, it’s totally different. I don’t like the word ‘independent’, because independent is never independent, but I think that they are just great directors and they are telling great stories, and the actors want to work with them so they have the possibility to choose amongst amazing actors, and that’s what I like because it is wonderful to be in a film like Lars von Trier’s Melancholia with Charlotte Rampling and with all these wonderful people, and everybody is normal. Normal.

If you make a film with David Lynch, there’s no room for a star system. If you work, for example, with Lars von Trier, every actor gets the same money. Every actor has the same trailer, every actor has the same car, every actor has the same class room. And that’s wonderful. I remember when I did Dogville, you sit in the evening, you have your dinner in the little hotel. Lauren Bacall, Ben Gazzara, James Caan, Nicole Kidman, Chloe Sevigny, Jean-Marc Barr, Stellan Skarsgard and myself, having a normal conversation. It’s not Hollywood, and that is some of the difference when you, as an actor, you work in a European film or an independent film, though I don’t like the word independent, with a director like Gus Van Sant, for example.

I had a great time when I made my first film, I had a great time seeing the city of Portland, I had a good time with the actors, with Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix. River Phoenix was an amazing person, unfortunately, as we know, he died so young. And that’s what I’m looking for, I’m looking for... I made a lot of films with new directors, sometimes it was bad. Somebody asked me the other day how many films. I said I’ve made over a hundred films, whatever, fifty of them are bad, thirty of them are okay, twenty of them are good. It’s a good thing. I’m a very lucky person. I sit in an aeroplane and I meet Paul Morrissey and I do Dracula and Frankenstein for Andy Warhol. I go and have coffee with Gus Van Sant and he offers me a movie. I’m a very lucky person because I’m not running after films; as I’ve said, I never told a director I wanted to work with him. I never stood in front of a director, waited until he’d come out and said, ‘I need to be in your movie’, I’ve never sent pictures away. I’m just working in my garden, doing my normal thing. Cooking for friends; I collect modern art and modern furniture, and so, there you have it.

MORE on the NEXT PAGE

Heather Buckley: You pick very interesting roles, a lot of them are in the genre. This piece is going to appear in Dread Central. Are you a fan of exploitation and horror films? You play great characters, you mentioned Dracula...

Udo Kier: The horror film came to me, not me to the horror film. I was just sitting in the aeroplane and Paul Morrissey was sitting next to me, and he wanted my number so I gave him my number. A couple of weeks later, I got a call, and he said, ‘I’m making a little film in Rome, Frankenstein, and I have a little role for you.’ I said, ’What do I play?’ and he said, ‘Doctor Frankenstein.’ So it started like that. It wasn’t any agent, or casting, it just came like that, and then when we finished Frankenstein, someone else was supposed to be Dracula, but he said, ‘I guess we’re going to have a German Dracula.’ And I said, ‘Who?’ and he said, ‘You, but you have to lose twenty pounds.’ So I didn’t eat any more for four days and then I became a very weak Dracula. And then, of course, because these two films became so famous, in a way, cult films, and then, for example, when I was cast for Blade, it was this time, playing the overlord vampire, and I like it, because the vampire, it has, a lot of people don’t know that from Romania, Count Dracul was a real, living person. He was Count Dracul, and he was a horrible person. And the legend came over the years that he was a vampire, people disappeared, people were biting, biting girls at midnight, so it… so you have a lot of fantasy. And there were famous people who were Dracula before me, so I have to be good to fulfill the chain of all the famous vampires. But it’s not me who’s looking for vampires, though. It’s interesting, though. It’s more interesting as an actor to play people who are fantasy characters.

Heather Buckley: What about something like in The Story of O? How did that find you?

Udo Kier: The Story of O? I did not want to make that movie. I was embarrassed for the opening of Frankenstein, and Polanski, we went together to a nightclub, and somebody came and said, ‘We saw your movie, we’d like to offer you the part in The Story of O, the leading man.’ And I said, ‘No way! I’m not going to do porno films!’ and then, after these people left, Paul Morrissey was there for his premiere, and he said, ‘Of course, you must take this movie. You will get so much publicity.’ It is one of the most famous books, which was forbidden for years, and so I made the movie. I made the movie, and I had a good time making that movie, The Story of O. If I had it again to do it over, I’d do it differently, but it was very French. Very French.

Heather Buckley: How is it working with all of the greenscreens on Iron Sky? That must be a big contrast from doing something like Melancholia with a full cast.

Udo Kier: In Iron Sky — Well, it was wonderful because it was all built as a set, it was up in a studio in Sweden, and greenscreen was kind of… we used to go, I mean, I know the story and I know the storyboards, and each time we had a scene, we would have a little meeting before and we would look at, the actors would look at the storyboards, But it is very different and it is very intense how you work with your actors, with your partner, because you have to concentrate much more. There’s nothing to distract you in the background, nothing like a plane going by; you’re just focused on the situation, with the actors who you are talking to or the situations you are observing. So I liked it, I liked it.

I liked it for a film like this; it works, but for example, for drama, or something realistically... for example I used to sleep in Germany, in Europe, I would sleep at night in the sets if it were my house. I would stay there one night. And I would look at every drawer because I made it mine. It’s like, I remember... actors, there are different actors. One actor does this and does this, but if you do greenscreen, you don’t have to because you just look at the storyboard, and you know where you are, and what is the situation. What is in the background. Is there a spaceship landing or... It’s a different thing. It works for black comedy. It works. But for a realistic film I don’t think it works, I mean, I never got the offer, never tried, but sets are very important, and lighting of course. Film is shadow and light, and light is very important.

I remember when I was making one of my first films, For Love or Money, with Michael J. Fox in New York, and we all had lighting doubles, and I went up to my lighting double and said, ‘If I stand here and you walk away, do you still get paid?’ and he said, ‘Yes.’ So I stood there with all the doubles, and Barry Sonnenfeld comes over the loudspeaker and says, ‘Udo, tell us why you are standing there,’ and I said, ‘It’s true, I want to know where the light is coming from.’ So, of course, I got the best lighting for the scene because it’s very important. I like to have fun. I don’t like to spend my time in my trailer, waiting my time to be called. I don’t like that. I like to have fun making movies. Seriously, but still having fun...I’m off to another interview; the tricky part is remembering what you’ve already said.

Heather Buckley: Well, I saw you do the panel for Theatre Bizarre up at the Fantasia Film Festival so good job with that one.

Udo Kier: Oh, thank you. Theatre Bizarre was strange because it was wonderful doing a film where I was a puppet and not knowing all the films and being there. I did it in basically one afternoon, being a puppet, and I really had a good time doing that.

Heather Buckley: Buddy Giovinazzo (Combat Shock) mentioned you while discussing his new film [Night of Nightmares]. He recently directed you in something for German television. He said it was the first time you acted in your own actual dialect.

Udo Kier: I played a homeless person in Cologne; I was born in Cologne so I could use the dialect. It was wonderful. And I was very proud because the TV show, it’s a police show, you know, like every week, and they have normally six million people watching it, and the episode I played in it had nine million so I was very proud, and it was the biggest rating for one year, for all these police shows. Buddy is a very good director. I made two films with him, some television, and he is a very good director. He is like Lars von Trier; he doesn’t like actors to act - just be there, be yourself, and not trying to be acting.

A new teaser video has arrived for German director Frank W. Montag's Cannibal Diner, and this one has something special as it's introduced by American shock rocker Demon Boy and includes a bit of the song his band contributed to the film's soundtrack.

Mario von Czapiewski is the writer and co-producer (with Montag) of Cannibal Diner. The film, which will be released worldwide in 2013, stars Alexandra Lesch, Kristiana Rohder (Miss Universe Germany 2010), Lara Baum, Alexandra Jordan, Violetta Schurawlow, Indira Madison, Dominik Schneider, Jessica Klauss, Mike Zick, Celina Klemenz, and Heiko Rohde. It features music by Demon Boy (official site here), Alien Vampires, and Sonic Thrill.

Synopsis:
Kati (Lesch) is a young model on her way to a birthday party for her little sister, Celine (Baum). Tanja (Rohder), Kati's best friend, and some of the others want to celebrate and camp near the woods. While preparing the party, the girls get attacked by strangers. Kati, still on her way to the camping place, loses her way in the woods and is led onto the wrong track by a vagabond (Klauss). When her car is stolen afterwards, Kati finds herself lost in the deep forest and arrives at an old factory, where a clan of cannibals is already preparing their feast... main course: Kati's friends.

To celebrate the UK release of The Aggression Scale (Anchor Bay) on Blu-ray and DVD on 3rd September, we've got three Blu-rays to give away! Home Alone meets First Blood as two teen siblings take on a group of vicious hitmen in this tense and brutal home invasion thriller.

Synopsis:
When out-on-bail mob boss Bellavance (Ray Wise) discovers that $500,000 of his money is missing, he sends four hardcore hit men (including Dana Ashbrook and Derek Mears) to send a “loud and messy” message to the suspected thieves’ families. But when the killers invade the Rutledge home, they’ll meet the household’s emotionally disturbed young son, Owen (Ryan Hartwig). Owen has a history of violent behavior, knows how to make lethal booby-traps, and is about to teach these thugs some deadly lessons in extreme vengeance. Fabianne Therese co-stars in the savage tale from up-and-coming genre director Steven C. Miller.

Webster’s dictionary defines "The Aggression Scale" as the frequency of overt aggressive behaviors in children that may result in physical or psychological injury to others, but The Aggression Scale here isn’t scientific. It’s a visceral reaction from two unusual teenagers whose most vicious instincts are unleashed in order to protect themselves and their home. Disturbing, dark, and unforgettable, The Aggression Scale is a pulse-pounding ride that will leave you in a sweat.

To be in with a chance of winning, just send us an E-MAIL HERE including YOUR FULL NAME AND POSTAL ADDRESS. We’ll take care of the rest!

Please note that this competition is open only to UK readers.

No Day Off for Exorcists! The Possession Dominates the Labor Day Weekend Box Office!

$

The Apparition Fails to Materialize at the Box OfficeRemember last weekend when I speculated that the box office failure of horror movies released in August/September 2011 might be repeating itself this year? Never mind. Turns out it was just a case of either nobody wanted to see The Apparition or they were all waiting for The Possession.

The Labor Day weekend is typically a low grossing period for the box office, which is why the Sam Raimi-produced exorcism flick The Possession scoring a $17 million opening can be considered a huge success. According to Box Office Mojo, it should do just over $21 million for the four-day holiday, making it the second highest grossing Labor Day weekend opening, second only to the $30+ million taken in by Rob Zombie’s Halloween in 2007.

Related Story: Is a Re-Possession in Our Future? Sam Raimi Talks Possible Sequel(s) to The Possession

Last weekend’s horror offering The Apparition went from opening outside the Top 10 to falling all the way out of the Top 20. As if last weekend’s 12th place, $2.8 million opening wasn’t bad enough, in its second weekend it dropped so far down Box Office Mojo didn’t even ascribe it a numerical ranking. The $625,000 it made this weekend was less money than The Amazing Spider-Man took in on what is now its 9th weekend and about $71,000 less than the Frank Langella science fiction dramedy Robot & Frank made playing on only 144 screens.

If there’s any solace for the producers of The Apparition, it’s that at least they didn’t produce The Oogieloves movie. The toddler-targeting movie from the creator of "Teletubbies" replaced 2008’s Delgo for the dishonor of worst opening ever for a movie debuting on over 2,000 screens. The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure’s catastrophic $448,000 opening weekend also resulted in a $207 per-screen average, giving it the distinction of being the second worst per-screen average for a wide release opening film, successfully bypassing last year’s stinker Creature in that department. Something tells me The Oogieloves will not be taking to the internet to denounce everyone that bashed their film since they’re all about teaching little kids about love and friendship.

Finally, there’s ParaNorman, which continues its hold on the middle of the Top 10, finishing in fifth place with another $6.55 million and a grand total of $38 million.

Next weekend is traditionally one of the two lowest movie-going weekends of the year, a weekend in which any new release is generally regarded as a total dump by the studio (Sorry, The Words and The Cold Light of Day). In two weeks the Resident Evil franchise takes its latest dump on the box office and will no doubt attract a large number of flies as these films are prone to do for reasons that continue to baffle most of us.

Vampires Go Biblical with Will Smith in The Redemption of CainFor gamers out there like us who get excited any time they see anything remotely resembling a reference to The Legacy of Kain video game, sadly, this is not our day. Instead we have vampires putting the bite on the good book with Will Smith making it all happen.

According to The Wrap, Sony Pictures Entertainment is moving forward with The Redemption of Cain, an epic retelling of the Biblical tale of sibling rivalry. The project, which is in development, is aiming to begin filming in July 2013. The film, which tells the story of Cain and Abel with a vampiric twist, is looking at shooting in London and Jordan with the exteriors shot in Morocco. Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment is producing the film. Francine Maisler is coming on to cast the film in the next few weeks.

Reports surfaced earlier this summer saying Smith wanted to direct the film. Two years ago he was reportedly going to star in and produce the project, which was then called Legend of Cain, for Overbrook, based on a script by Caleeb Pinkett.

Massive Film4 FrightFest 2012 Image Gallery and Final Wrap-up!

August is gone, and along with it goes 2012’s Film4 FrightFest. Step right up for a gallery of snaps that we grabbed during the festivities, giving you guys who couldn’t make it a glimpse at the glamour, glitz and guests surrounding another fantastic year of terror in Leicester Square.

Dishing up more guests than ever before, FrightFest the 13th was a feast of premieres, special events and sneak peeks. Kicking off with a gut-busting extended introduction by Stitches star Ross Noble, this year’s festival brought along with it a variety of personalities from the cast and crew of The Seasoning House, Sinister writer C. Robert Cargill, the guys behind Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut (unfortunately sans Clive Barker – maybe another year!), the stunning Leticia Dolera and her [REC] 3: Genesis director Paco Plaza and the equally lovely Katharine Isabelle and her American Mary directors the Soska sisters through to surprise visits by the likes of comedian Frankie Boyle, who found himself accosted by a couple of stoic Nazi zombies at the Empire’s entrance.

Also amongst the goodies dished up this year was an extended on-stage interview with the legendary Dario Argento, followed by a signing of Alan Jones’ latest book on the genre maestro, Simon Pegg’s appearance in order to present his long-time friend Greg Nicotero with FrightFest’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award and, of course, the inimitable Andy Nyman once again presented the fantastic Quiz From Hell. Damn that soundtracks round!

Below is just a small sample of the massive image gallery we've put together for the event. These shots feature [REC] 3: Genesis. Visit our Film4 FrightFest 2012 Facebook Photo Album for the rest.

Anyway, with three screens now showing films every day, it’s impossible to catch everything on offer at FrightFest. Hell, it’s barely possible to catch everything on one screen if you value a) your sanity, b) sleep and c) nourishment, but check below for a list of the flicks that we did catch and a few that have already been officially reviewed here at Dread Central (for example, the excellent Sinister, V/H/S, Chained, and Paul Davis’ hilarious short Him Indoors also screened).

Most importantly, a huge shout-out and thanks have to go to each and every guest who appeared and the volunteers who worked so hard to keep the festival running smoothly. Finally, massive thanks also go to Ian, Alan, Paul and Greg – the guys who work so tirelessly to put it all together. It’s been another wild ride; see you next year!
