TIFF 2012: Come Out and Play and Dead Before Dawn 3D Score Distro! Some distribution news for two much talked about horror films has come out of the Toronto International Film Festival and we've got the word on each for you right here. Good things are coming, kids. Read on for details.

The international sales rights to Makinov’s Come Out and Play, his remake to the classic Who Can Kill a Child? has been purchased by Celsius.

Vinessa Shaw, Ebon Moss and Daniel Gimenez Cacho star, “Beth and Francis vacation before the birth of their child. Francis insists on venturing to a more serene island, Beth hesitantly agrees. They set out to a beautiful island, but soon discover it’s mysteriously abandoned, and the only people on the island are children. Beth and Francis are left to uncover the mystery of the disappearances, and a day in paradise quickly turns into a struggle for survival.

Picked up for US distribution by Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment at Toronto is April Mullen’s Dead Before Dawn 3D. The film follows college kids that accidentally unleash an evil curse that causes people to kill themselves and turn into Zombie Demons, aka Zemons. The horror/comedy starring Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Devon Bostick (Survival of the Dead, Diary of a Wimpy Kids) has been gaining a lot of momentum and has a tone that some are describing as Shaun of the Dead meets The Goonies.

The film is set to release in late fall. It was written by Tim Doiron, who also produces with Mullen.

Rest in Peace: Ron Taylor

Rest in Peace: Ron TaylorThere's no question about it... without the skilled underwater camera work of Ron Taylor Jaws wouldn't have been the classic film that it has become. Sadly, the man responsible for bringing us face-to-face with the Great White is no longer with us.

Ron Taylor, a beloved Australian marine conservationist who helped film some of the terrifying underwater footage used in the classic shark thriller Jaws, has died after a long battle with cancer, a close family friend said Monday. He was 78.

Taylor, who had suffered from leukemia for two years, died on Sunday at a hospital in Sydney, said Andrew Fox, who worked with Taylor on shark conservation efforts for decades. Fox said Taylor had mixed feelings about his work on Jaws, which terrified beachgoers but ultimately helped draw attention to the intimidating yet often threatened animals. But in later years, Fox said, they came to realize that "it's actually the movie `Jaws' that spawned people wanting to learn about great whites."

Taylor and his wife, Valerie, spent years filming great white sharks and trying to persuade a wary public that the much-feared creatures were beautiful animals worthy of respect. Their stunning up-close images of sharks drew the attention of Jaws director Steven Spielberg, who asked the couple to capture footage of a great white for his 1975 blockbuster.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Ron's friends, family, and constituents. Thank you for everything, sir, and rest easy.

Fox's First Promo for The Following Appears Online

Every time we catch another glimpse of Kevin Williamson's "The Following," we get a little bit more anxious for January to arrive. Check out this new promo from Fox and see if you don't agree.

Synopsis:
THE FBI estimates there are currently over 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances across the country? What if one brilliant psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a following? Welcome to THE FOLLOWING, the terrifying new thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the Scream franchise) and director Marcos Siega (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dexter”).

When notorious serial killer JOE CARROLL (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent RYAN HARDY (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, X-Men: First Class) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. Hardy is a walking textbook of all-things Carroll. He knows him better than anyone; he is perhaps Carroll’s only psychological and intellectual match. But the Ryan Hardy who broke the Carroll case years ago isn’t the same man today. Wounded both physically and mentally by his previous pursuit of this serial killer, it’s been a long time since Hardy has been in the field. This investigation is his redemption, his call to action. In contrast to nine years ago, Hardy isn’t calling the shots on this case. He works closely with an FBI team, which includes all-business and tough-as-nails JENNIFER MASON (Jeananne Goossen, The Vow, "Alcatraz") and young, razor-sharp MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore, X-Men).

Related Story: Highlights from The Following's San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Roundtable Interviews

The team considers Hardy to be more of a liability than an asset. But Hardy proves his worth when he uncovers that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of killers in the outside world. It quickly becomes obvious that he has more planned than just a prison escape, and there’s no telling how many additional killers are out there. The FBI’s investigation leads Hardy to CLAIRE MATTHEWS (Natalie Zea, “Justified”), Carroll’s ex-wife and mother of the criminal’s 10-year-old son, JOEY (newcomer Kyle Catlett). Close during Hardy’s initial investigation, Hardy turns to Claire for insight into Carroll’s next move. The tension rises when Carroll’s accomplices kidnap his intended last victim from nine years ago. Hardy becomes ever more determined to end Carroll’s game when he realizes that this psychopath intends to finish what he started. The thriller will follow Hardy and the FBI as they are challenged with the ever-growing web of murder around them, masterminded by the devious Carroll, who dreams of writing a novel with Hardy as his protagonist. The reinvigorated Hardy will get a second chance to capture Carroll, as he’s faced with not one but a cult of serial killers.

TIFF 2012: Exclusive Lords of Salem Interview with Director Rob Zombie

    $

    0

If there is one horror director who is unafraid of taking major risks in Hollywood, it has to be Rob Zombie, and he proved his level of fearlessness at the recent Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his latest horror film, The Lords of Salem, to a fueled-up crowd!

The Lords of Salem (review) was no exception since it has been dividing audiences with its slow-burning, non-narrative and visceral-heavy elements; and critics and viewers have both equally praised and trashed the film that is unlike any other film Zombie has done before.

Dread Central had the chance to attend a roundtable interview with the charismatic director at the festival to talk about his latest project, his battle with the studio system and his reasons behind making the abstract Lords of Salem in the first place.

When asked if his script and vision for the film were already pre-meditated, Zombie candidly admitted that he rarely stuck to the script while filming.

"I don’t always go, 'Here’s the script. We’re going to stick to this no matter what' because sometimes things change and it never goes as planned. The movie kept getting trippier and trippier, and I liked that because I didn’t know how many chances I would get to make a movie where I had complete control to do whatever I wanted. No studio would ever want to make this movie. They would be like, ‘What the fuck is that all about at the end?’ As the movie progressed, I wanted the vibe of the whole thing to have impact on the audience because that’s how I would feel when I watched David Lynch, Cronenberg or a Kubrick movie. I wanted people to feel like they were in the movie for the journey rather than just watching images that are spooky."

Notoriously known for his plot-altering unrated director’s cuts, Zombie also talked about the possibility of a longer cut and what he also felt of the crowd at the premiere.

"This is probably the final cut. If I got more editing time, I might go back and tweak things here or there, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. The audience reactions were so hard to gauge because I felt like there was a moment where it turned in a good way. No one knows what the movie is so they had no idea what they were going to watch. I think with the nature of the Midnight Madness premieres, everyone thought it was going to be a crazy, fast-paced movie, and I could feel at some point there was this weird shift and everyone stopped trying to make funny comments and they started paying attention. People were then locked into not what they thought it was going to be but rather what it actually is. I was a little worried at first because I knew people were waiting for someone’s head to get chopped off or something crazy like that," Zombie admitted.

During the Q&A at the premiere, Zombie had quickly revealed that many beloved character actors like Clint Howard, Udo Kier and Camille Keaton filmed scenes that were unfortunately left on the cutting room floor for the final cut, and he elaborated further about this in the interview.

"There was a lot of stuff cut out. The whole beginning of the movie had a lot more 1692 stuff. Sid Haig and Michael Berryman are in the movie about two seconds, but there was a whole lot more with them that we never got to do. I was kind of bummed by that. There was also a lot of stuff that we used that didn’t make the final cut."

TIFF 2012: Exclusive Lords of Salem Interview with Director Rob Zombie

One of the actors who also filmed an important role in the film and was cut out happened to be late actor Richard Lynch. Zombie went on to talk about working with Lynch and how he came to the conclusion that none of the footage he shot with Richard was suitable for the film.

"The Richard [Lynch] situation is actually very sad. I really liked Richard, and when we worked together on Halloween, he was phenomenal. When he came in to do Lords of Salem, I could tell he was not in great health. He was actually Jonathan Hawthorne in the film. Richard was basically blind and he showed up to shoot his scenes, and I would have no idea how to shoot because he couldn’t see. I tried to shoot around that, but it just didn’t work. I tried to use him, and I thought we would get back to it. Sadly, I had to cut around his scenes. He was a nice guy, and I’m glad I got to work with him."

Rob then went on to talk about his cast and playfully joked about one of the most horrifying things he had to deal with on set: the women fighting over their wardrobe.

"With a cast with all women, getting them into wardrobe is a bit of its own horror movie. They all don’t want to wear anything. We had hundreds of clothes, but Sheri [Moon Zombie] was like, ‘I found only two things that are acceptable.’ Pat Quinn flew in from London and was like, ‘I can’t wear any of these frocks! They’re hideous!’ Dee Wallace hated her clothes and Judy [Geeson] hated her clothes. They were all literally fighting with each other and stealing each other’s clothes. It was insane," he joked.

For years it has been widely documented how Rob Zombie had struggled in the past directing studio projects like the Halloween remakes and how they compromised his vision many times while cutting and shooting the films. Zombie candidly admitted his grievances with working with studio executives and how he didn’t budge once to accommodate their demands for Lords of Salem.

"The movie I explained and the movie I made were two different things. I think it seemed like a movie about witches. It seemed very conventional. When the producers saw the movie, they were like, ‘This has no relation to what we were told!’ I had just gone off the rails, but that was my deal. I could do whatever I wanted," he stated bluntly.

"Halloween 2 is pretty in your face violent because I thought that movie had a certain expectation of what people wanted. But with [Lords of Salem] it’s original. What I love about European movies is that the audience is a little more patient. The movies are slower, and with studio system if something gory doesn’t happen in five minutes and if anything is ever confusing, they freak the fuck out. Who cares if the audience is confused for a minute? They’ll keep watching. Look at Inception. How huge was that? People loved it, and that just proved to me audiences aren’t stupid. Studios think viewers just want to be spoon-fed popcorn entertainment, and I just don’t believe that. I think people are much smarter than executives think they are."

One of things that makes Zombie’s Lords of Salem different from any other film he has directed is that the film lacks any narrative whatsoever. We asked about his decision for this, and he had no problem responding to what was thought to be a “hard” question to answer.

"I’m not a fan of super complicated plots. Sometimes movies just get so convoluted with the plot and I zone out of the movie and all I see is screenwriters thinking they are super clever. I like movies that have time to breathe. I was hoping people would be patient enough to let it breathe and not feel like there has to be a twist and turn every so often. There were notes expecting me to have the supporting characters rescue Heidi from the witches, and that wasn’t going to happen. I like movies that end with a bummer. Why do we have to leave a movie feeling good? Sometimes it’s good leaving feeling like shit."

After the screening many fans have already been wishing thinking for a sequel, but Zombie suggests to those fans to not hold their breath for a future installment.

"Will I make a sequel? Probably not. That hasn’t even crossed my mind. There’s so many other stories to do, and sometimes sequels are weird. Both times I did sequels it was not my first choice to do that. But it is so hard to get money to make a movie that it seems psychotic to turn the chance down. When I initially did The Devil’s Rejects, I just said, ‘Sure, I’ll take your money; yet, I will actually make a completely different movie and it’s not really a sequel.’ I did the same thing with Halloween 2."

Concluding our interview, Zombie talked about his upcoming future projects and the status of his long-time passion project Tyrannosaurus Rex.

"Tyrannosaurus Rex is nowhere. The next movie I’m working on now is Broad Street Bullies, and that’s a totally different thing; it’s about the story of the Philadelphia Flyers winning the Stanley Cup in the Seventies. I couldn’t pass up the chance to do a violent hockey movie in the Seventies."

We thank Rob for taking the time to talk with us, and if you live in the Toronto area, make sure to catch The Lords of Salem at the Toronto International Film Festival and help spread the word.

Exclusive Interview: Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, and Michelle Bauer - Screaming in High Heels!

    0

To help promote the release of Screaming in High Heels (review), a look into the lives and careers of Scream Queen legends Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, and Michelle Bauer, Breaking Glass Pictures provided an opportunity for us to have a chat with the documentary’s leading ladies.

Check it out below, and be sure to purchase Screaming in High Heels through Evil Shop below!

Can you tell me a bit about the genesis of Screaming in High Heels? Did director Jason Paul Collum approach each of you with the idea of featuring you in a documentary about the Scream Queen era?

Brinke Stevens - A few years ago, Jason and I co-produced a documentary called Something to Scream About, which featured popular actresses like Julie Strain and Debbie Rochon. However, it didn't include Linnea Quigley and Michelle Bauer, which disappointed some fans. Jason Collum, being such a longtime fan himself, then decided to create a 'love letter' of sorts to our original Scream Queen trio, which became Screaming in High Heels.

Linnea Quigley – Well, I think I was the last contacted since I live furthest away (hopefully for not too much longer). But I thought – “Wow, how cool a commentary.” But I had no clue it was so amazing.

Michelle Bauer - Jason Paul Collum did contact us each individually. I thought it was just going to be an interview, which a lot of people have approached me with in the past. Not until I did the Q & A did I realize he had a much broader and bigger idea in mind. I then started to get excited about the project. I had no idea it was going to be the start of something so big.

Exclusive Interview: Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, and Michelle Bauer - Screaming in High Heels!

While Screaming in High Heels certainly covered a lot of ground, both with your careers and personal lives, is there anything that wasn’t covered in detail or at all that you’d like to speak at length about?

Michelle - I believe that Jason was thorough. He did his homework and it shows. It was all voluntary just how much or how little we wanted to share. I was nervous at first because he could have used all of our personal information and shed a completely different light on the whole genre and the people involved. He wanted to show an honest and complete side, and he accomplished that.

Linnea - I would have liked to get into more of how I’ve gone from being the teen girl to now playing mothers and more interesting parts - not just the shower girl. And also about my devotion to animal rights and how I live my life now.

Brinke - Actually, it was pretty thorough and covered just about everything. And in such a fun exciting way!

Can you speak a bit about the “glass ceiling” that’s mentioned in the film, and how the “Scream Queen” label prevented you from landing a variety of roles outside of the genre? What types of films might you have enjoyed working in, given the option?

Linnea – Well, everything happens for a reason. And yes, back then you got labeled. Not as much as today, but doing nudity and doing low budget films made them not want to use you. Now, you get reality people in movies who aren’t actors. I would have loved to do movies like Resident Evil. I do love horror, and comedies also.

Brinke - When I first started acting in the early 1980s, I immediately landed small roles in big films, like Psycho 3, Three Amigos, Body Double, The Naked Gun, and Spinal Tap. I thought I was soon destined to become an A-list actress. At the same time, the video boom hit and I was constantly hired for low-budget horror movies. I was quickly typecast as a B-movie celebrity, and it became impossible to break out of that genre to land any bigger film jobs. I've loved all my myriad roles and don't feel like I've missed out on anything - except that my income has always reflected those same low budgets, and it's always been very hard to make a decent living in this particular industry. There are no residuals, no retirement plan, no pension, no 401K's, nor any health insurance for us.

Michelle - There was a time before I stopped working that I would have liked to have taken on the roles of the mother, doctor, snoopy neighbor or the scientist. But unfortunately, the transition seemed impossible. The "glass ceiling" was very real and constricting. I was not old enough to play an older role, and I was "stuck" in limbo. The "Scream Queen" era was over, and it was a struggle to make new contacts. I sought out a manager to help me overcome the transition but I ended bringing him more work than he got me. Frustrated, I walked away from him and decided my time and energy should be focused on my family. It was the best move I ever made.

Exclusive Interview: Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, and Michelle Bauer - Screaming in High Heels!

The documentary details the resurgence that your careers are seeing due to your young fans growing up and becoming filmmakers that are keen to employ their idols. Now that you’ve entered this next phase of your career, do you see yourself tackling new types of roles, either in front of or behind the camera? Have you ever had an interest in, say, writing, directing, or producing?

Michelle - I do not have any plans to return to work. I dabble here and there. I have started up with a manager to visit a couple of conventions a year so I can have a chance to thank the fans for their loyalty and support. I feel I owe them a huge THANK YOU. I had no idea that there was still a fan base out there. I have Jason to thank for that also. I have never had the desire to write, produce or direct. That takes a special type of person and that person is not me.

Linnea - I’ve had some great ones lately, but they are lower budget. But like I said, everything happens for a reason and I’m lucky to be where I am. I have produced, and I’d love to direct. I like to come up with ideas, but I also like being in front of and behind the camera. I like getting more involved in films I do, and if I was in LA I’d be kicking more ass.

Brinke - At the Burbank store signing last week, we were astonished how many young people came up to us saying they grew up watching our movies as kids, and how we were their very first romantic crushes. It's true that many of those teenagers later became filmmakers themselves. I'm now working with the next generation, like young director Chris Olen Ray (The Silicon Assassin), son of Fred Olen Ray, whom I worked with extensively in the late-80s and early 90s.

I've shot 10 new movies this year, and have had many interesting roles. I played the Mother (Abby Borden) in Lizzie Borden's Revenge, and also a couple of very strong, powerful, almost masculine roles such as a tough small-town Sheriff in Axeman at Cutter's Creek, and the President of the United States in The Silicon Assassin.

In 2012, I also wrote and directed my very first film, Personal Demons, which co-starred Linnea Q and Debbie R. After appearing in 150 movies so far, I found that I was a naturally good director; I really enjoyed the whole process and hope to do it a lot more in the near future.

Given how the industry has changed so dramatically since the heyday of the 80s video boom, do you think it’s possible that we’ll ever see another Scream Queen era? Are there any actresses currently working that you feel deserve to take up the mantle of “Scream Queen”? I know that Tiffany Shepis was mentioned in the doc, amongst others.

Linnea - I don’t think there will be another scream queen era anytime soon. It was something that just fell into place like magic, and a lot of the people are long gone who tried to be scream queens, they should just say they are actresses and not try to hold on to a term that will not help them. You can’t name yourself something others have to.

Michelle - The eighties video boom was a chance happening that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. I don’t see it coming back, unfortunately. The market was basically cornered at the time and now it is possible for anyone to pick up a camera or recorder and call themselves a director or producer. As far a Scream Queen status goes, I have been out of the loop so long. I have no idea who is out there doing what.

Brinke - We were just in the right place at the right time. In the mid-1980s, the video boom kept us constantly working and thus launched our stellar careers. At that time, there were many independent studios, run by Roger Corman, Charles Band, Fred Olen Ray, David DeCoteau, and so on. Today, those indie studios no longer exist, so I think it would be almost impossible for a young actress to follow in our footsteps. Fortunately, Tiffany Shepis and Debbie Rochon have found their own path to become huge stars in the industry. Their success is well-deserved... they're both very talented and sweet gals.

Any parting words to fans, and those who haven’t yet seen the documentary?

Brinke - I think it's such an amazing part of cinema history that everyone should see it! We three girls were unique, true originals, carving our lasting niche in a male-dominated industry. And we have only our devoted fans to thank for our huge success. So, my deepest thanks to all of you for your love and support!

Linnea - It’s an amazing documentary, and you learn a lot too. It’s got never before seen things, and it delivers it with fun and humor, and also seriousness. I thought I was just doing a documentary, but this is an honor, and so enjoyable. Jason Paul Collum did an amazing job! I love it, and thanks. It’s the ultimate compliment.

    Michelle - Thank you.

A special thanks to Brinke, Linnea and Michelle for their time, and Breaking Glass Pictures for the opportunity.

Screaming in High Heels is now available from Breaking Glass Pictures.

Los Angeles Audiences Should Catch The Faculty At Midnight This Saturday

Having recently revisited The Faculty on Blu-ray, I was surprised to find the movie held up better than expected. We're dealing with some of the worst CGI since Escape from L.A., but there's a nice sense of fun to it. If you live in Los Angeles, you can see it on the big screen this weekend.

My good friend BC at Horror Movie a Day is hosting a midnight (11:59 pm) screening this Saturday, September 15th at the New Beverly theater. Which means that you'll not only get to see the film, but you'll be able to bask in his wry introduction as well. Play your cards right and you might even win a DVD (or an Armageddon action figure). What in the hell more could you people possibly want?

The New Beverly is located at 7165 Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles (90036), 2 blocks west of La Brea. Street parking is widely available (Formosa is your best bet), and tickets are 8 bucks CASH ONLY at the door (there's an ATM at the Valero gas station at La Brea/Beverly).

But seriously, if all you remember about The Faculty is that it came out in the late 90s, I'd recommend giving it another look. It boasts a good cast and Rodriguez is having fun with the material, even if this remains his most obvious "director for hire" outing. Why not check it out?

James Cameron Wanted a Much Nastier Jurassic Park

For many horror fans, Jurassic Park is holy ground riddled with lots of thrills and dinosaur mayhem. The film is a modern classic, deserving of all the love and attention that it gets. Ever wonder what director James Cameron would have done with it? Read on to find out!

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Cameron revealed that he always wanted to make a Jurassic Park movie, but Steven Spielberg beat him to the punch. What would his approach have been like?

"I'd have gone further," says the director. "Nastier, much nastier. Mine would have been 'Aliens' with dinosaurs."

Cameron continues, "When I saw the film, I realized that I was not the right person to make the film; he was. Because he made a dinosaur movie for kids... Dinosaurs are for 8-year-olds. We can all enjoy it, too, but kids get dinosaurs and they should not have been excluded for that. His sensibility was right for that film."

Universal has set Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to write the script for the fourth Jurassic Park film, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy. Spielberg won’t direct.

Look for more on this one (hopefully) soon!

Presidential Candidate A. Zombie Lands His First Newspaper Endorsement

    0

The campaign of the first undead contender for the nation’s highest office, A. Zombie, has just received a major boost with a hearty endorsement from one of the nation’s most unique media outlets (and Uncle Creepy favorite), The Weekly World News.

    From the Press Release:
Enthusiastic support for candidate A. Zombie came from Ed Anger, the hyper-opinionated columnist who, since 1979, has been offering opinions The Economist called “so vitriolically right-wing that they may be coming from the left.” The commentator’s weekly columns are also included in the book Let’s Pave the Stupid Rainforests and Give School Teachers Stun Guns: And Other Ways to Save America.

“Why am I voting for this undead leader?” writes Ed Anger. “Because it’s time for a new kind of leader; it’s time to elect somebody who is dead, not someone who acts dead! What we need is somebody who appreciates good, well-developed brains. We need somebody who eats brains. We need to elect A. Zombie for President of the U.S.A.”

The full text of Anger’s endorsement can be found here.

Known for its major scoops about society, science and the world around us, The Weekly World News has also been an unlikely source of spot-on political coverage, especially prognostications regarding Presidential elections. The Weekly World News’ Alien character has correctly predicted the outcome of every Presidential contest since Ronald Reagan in 1980!

Since announcing his candidacy at a high-energy rally in San Diego on August 20, Zombie and his human wife/spokesperson, Patty Morgan-Zombie, have been on a cross-country bus tour to five major U.S. cities, including Tampa and Charlotte, where they brought their pro-zombie message to thousands of supporters and media at the Republican and Democratic Conventions.

“My husband appreciates this ringing endorsement. If he could speak, he’d most definitely say, 'Thank you, Ed Anger',” said Patty Morgan-Zombie.

The A. Zombie for President Campaign is organized by AMC Networks, home to AMC, WE tv, IFC, and Sundance Channel. Satellite company DISH dropped these networks earlier this year because of an unrelated lawsuit and is now in the disadvantaged position of being the nation’s only major television provider without these channels and their popular shows.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, AMC president Charlie Collier had this to say about AMC Networks' fight with satellite provider Dish: "The biggest frustration is I've never had one conversation with them about pricing or about the customer. We were dropped due to an unrelated lawsuit that is truly out of my control. It's the best time in AMC history because of this confluence of events. I'm shocked that Dish wouldn't want to have this network available for its customers at this time. We'd encourage them to find a platform that carries AMC."

A one-issue candidate, A. Zombie’s mission is to rally zombie fans around the country who don’t have access to these networks and shows to find an alternative television provider before the highly-anticipated third season premiere on October 14, 2012, of A. Zombie’s favorite show, AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” the most watched basic cable scripted drama series among DISH subscribers, according to The Nielsen Company.

    A. Zombie’s complete platform can be found on azombieforpresident.com.

IFC Midnight to Explore the Errors of the Human Body

More distribution news has come our way as Eron Sheean's indie thriller Errors Of The Human Body has found itself a home Stateside. Read on for all the latest details right here free of any nasty anatomical anomalies.

    From the Press Release
IFC Midnight announced today that the company is acquiring all North American rights to Eron Sheean’s thriller ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY. Sheean wrote the screenplay for the film with Shane Danielsen. The picture stars Germany’s Karoline Herfurth (PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER, THE READER, WE ARE THE NIGHT), Iceland’s Tómas Lemarquis (NOI THE ALBINO, PAINLESS, SNOW PIERCER), Rik Mayall (THE YOUNG ONES) and Canada’s rising star, Michael Eklund (THE DIVIDE, THE DAY, FRINGE, ALCATRAZ) and wasproduced by Instinctive Film’s Darryn Welch and Cole Payne. The film played this summer at several international film festivals, including Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Melbourne International Film Festival, Frightfest London and Transatlantyk International Film & Music Festival and will play at the upcoming Fantastic Fest and Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY will make its US premiere next week at Fantastic Fest 2012.

Following divorce from his wife and the loss of his son to a rare genetic mutation, Canadian geneticist Geoff Burton (Elkund) relocates to the harsh, wintry scenery of Dresden, Germany to work on groundbreaking new project that might just be his key to redemption in ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY. When teamed up with his former intern and colleague Rebekka (Herfurth), he starts working on a human regenerative gene with direct ties to his personal tragedy, yet matters prove increasingly difficult: jealous co-workers’ feelings are ruffled, old flames are rekindled and personal demons become consistently harder to suppress in this new and oppressive work environment. Still haunted by the memory of his wife and his failures to have saved his deceased son, Burton finds himself maddeningly close to a medical breakthrough, yet quickly spiralling out of control. Collapsing his career and personal life into a dark and increasingly dangerous tunnel-vision of competitive genetics, delusions of all kinds and the terrifying potential of massive discoveries gone awry, Burton is quite literally the stranger in the strange land. The question remains: how far will Burton be willing to go to atone for the errors of his past?

The deal for the film was negotiated by Jeff Deutchman, Director of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Nate Bolotin at XYZFilms on behalf of the filmmakers.
