Ghost Adventures' Zak Bagans and Praga Khan Bring us NecroFusion

$

"Ghost Adventures" star Zak Bagans is a man with a lot on his plate. With numerous television projects cooking, he's also found time to become a published author and a clothing designer. Now he's ready to toss his hat into the music arena with NecroFusion!

From the Press Release
Zak Bagans, host of Travel Channel's popular paranormal series "Ghost Adventures," has joined forces with Lords of Acid's Praga Khan for one of the most intriguing music releases ever produced, NecroFusion, due out October 23, just in time for Halloween.

Each one of the eleven tracks on NecroFusion not only tells the story of a departed soul who, for whatever reason, has not crossed over, but includes an actual audio message from the spirit - "electronic voice phenomena," or EVP. Armed with his SB7 Spirit Box, a recording device well-known by devotes of the "Ghost Adventures" series, Bagans has encountered inhabitants of the spirit world during his paranormal investigations, reached out to communicate with and question them, and then, when a spirit chose to communicate, he recorded the spirits' EVPs.

For NecroFusion, Bagans worked closely with Praga Khan, a legendary pioneer of post-industrial-electronic dance music. The two structured every song around a specific incident when Bagans had a ghostly encounter, and worked to have the music and lyrics reflect the tone of the spirits' voices. Bagans wrote the lyrics and provided the earthbound spoken word/vocals for the tracks, while Khan wrote and recorded the music at his Brussels studio between mid-2011 and early summer 2012.

"Working on this album was one great experience from start to finish," said Khan. "When Zak came up with the idea to record an album with EVPs, I was both surprised and excited. I had absolutely no idea what to expect. When he sent me the audio files that he had recorded with his Spirit Box and I listened to them, I really freaked out. This was scary stuff."

"For me," said Bagans, "spirit communication is the most powerful communication I've ever encountered. The most powerful messages are delivered through music, and music truly influences the way you feel, it stimulates the emotional memories of your life. With 'NecroFusioin,' we've blended together these two powerful forms of communication - spirit and music. And the earthbound spirits have a lot to say."

The result is abstract, sinister, illuminating and haunting.

"Poor Pearl" tells the tale of 22-year old Pearl Bryan from Indiana who was murdered and decapitated in 1896. Her headless body was found not far from a slaughterhouse, a site that some speculate was a place of devil worship and dark rituals, and is haunted by one of her killers. Today it is a club called Bobby Mackey's Music World, near Cincinnati, and known as "the most haunted nightclub in the USA." Bagans and his "Ghost Adventures" crew have spent a fair amount of time there, and during one of his Spirit Box sessions, he stated to a spirit, "I think Pearl is safe now from her killers." The spirit's chilling response was recorded: "Is she?" and that original audio is woven into this track.

At 3AM every night for three weeks, Bagans conducted recording sessions in his "home dungeon" where Poltergeist activity is common. He recorded two spirits there, and what they communicated is what the track "In My Dungeon" was built upon. For "Good and Evil," Bagans established intelligent, two-way communication with a spirit, and he carries on an extended conversation with another spirit on "Immortal Portal."

"On some of the songs," Bagans explained, "you'll hear me communicating with the spirits. Probably the most emotional track on the album for me is 'Sing with Me.' I deliberately asked a female spirit to sing for me, and she did, we actually got her to sing."

"Room 20," "Dark Frequency," "Eleven Heaven," and "Dead Awaiting" and just some of the other spooky musical offerings.

"Maybe it was a coincidence, but a lot of strange stuff happened during the making of the album," added Khan. "Audio files started to disappear, files that I never deleted, the computer started to crash daily, my sound technician got really sick a few days after the start of the album and ended up in the hospital. But the strangest thing of all was that the cat who practically lived at our studio, simply refused to enter the building while we were working on the 'NecroFusion' album."

Big fans of each other's work - Khan catches "Ghost Adventures" on Travel Channel in Belgium, while Bagans discovered Lords of Acid while in high school - they connected via Twitter last year and began to discuss working together. For their first collaboration, Bagans recorded vocals for "Paranormal Energy," a song for the Lords of Acid album Deep Chills (2012), working with Grammy-winning producer Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson). The song hit the Top 5 on iTunes' Electronic Music Dance chart.

"I want more people to hear what the spirits have to say," said Bagans. "Spirits want to be heard, that's why they're not at rest. They want to be heard."

From the Press Release
Screamfest®, the preeminent horror festival in the country, and what the LA Weekly calls “the best place to get a jump on tomorrow’s cult hits,” kicks off its 12th annual event in Los Angeles on October 12 through October 21 at LA Live Regal Cinemas (1000 W. Olympic Blvd. LA, CA). This year’s films include Morgan O’Neill’s THE FACTORY starring John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter and Mae Whitman.

The Factory (US) – Directed by Morgan O’Neill, starring John Cusack (1408, The Raven) and Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter,” Quarantine and The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) and Mae Whitman (“Parenthood,” “Arrested Development”). Present. Buffalo. The unforgiving winter. A killer roams the streets, abducting women on cold, quiet nights. All prostitutes, missing persons with no one to miss them. He leaves behind no traces, no clues; nothing. Detective Mike Fletcher (John Cusack) is the one cop on the force bent on bringing him to justice. Mike sees the tragedy in all of this: that these poor women are alone in life, and in death. They have no one to stand up for them – no one except him.

Screamfest L.A. - First Wave of Films Announced - The Factory, American Mary, Thale, and More!

On-Air (Germany) World Premiere - A man (Markus Knuefken) runs a pirate radio station “Nighthawk“ from the basement of his house. Every Saturday night he goes “On Air” as Doc Rock. One night, a serial killer called “The Night-Slasher” (Charles Rettinghaus) calls the show, and Doc has to stop him from killing his next victim. The struggle for survival is ON…AIR.

True Love (Italy) US Premiere - On the surface, Kate and Jack are happy. But like everyone, they carry secrets that neither is prepared to reveal. After their wedding, they awake from a deep sleep, each alone in a sealed room with no doors or windows - only images projected on the walls and a monitor with two buttons: a "yes" and a "no.” As the horror of their situation unfolds, surveillance films showing their life together appear on the wall, while the monitor starts asking terrifying questions. It soon becomes apparent that a bizarre test of their relationship is underway, and the secrets revealed lead them deeper and deeper into what could not just destroy their love, but threaten their lives.

Would You Rather (US) - Starring Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Brittany Snow (Prom Night), Eddie Steeples (“My Name Is Earl,” I Know Who Killed Me). Desperate to help her ailing brother, a young woman agrees to compete in a deadly game of "Would You Rather," hosted by a sadistic aristocrat.

Fear of Water (Canada) – Rosalie Richard is found savagely raped and murdered at the foot of a cliff in the Magdalen Islands. The sordid crime wreaks havoc on the quiet life of Sergeant André Surprenant of the local Sûreté du Québec detachment. While the shy Surprenant starts the hunt for the killer, his life is in shambles as his marriage is crumbling, his teenage daughter rejects him, his psychologist is trying to help him overcome his phobias, and the Sûreté is trying to push him aside by bringing in another officer to lead the investigation.

Resolution (US) – Michael is committed to getting his best friend Chris to sober up and put his life back on track. But what begins as an attempt to save his friend’s life quickly takes an unexpected turn as the two friends confront personal demons, the consequences of past actions, and forces beyond their control. Expertly balancing dark humor, heart, and thrills, Resolution is an utterly unique cinematic experience that defies genre classification.

Thale (Norway) – Two crime scene cleaners discover a mythical tailed, female creature in a concealed cellar. She never utters a word, but the pieces of the puzzle soon come together - she’s been held captive for decades for reasons soon to surface. “A rare thing, at times haunting, atmospheric, hilarious, violent and wholly beautiful.” - Badass Digest

American Mary (Canada) – The story follows medical student Mary Mason as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted with the surgical world she once admired. The allure of easy money sends Mary into the world of underground surgeries, which ends up leaving more marks on her than her so called "freakish" clientele.

Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal (Canada) - Lars Olafssen, once a young celebrity in the art world, is slipping away fast into the land of has-beens. His long-time art dealer, Ronny, is now an ungracefully aging hipster who desperately wants his meal ticket back. But Lars refuses to paint. His creativity comes at too high a cost - his inspiration is carnage - blood, guts and limbs. Not surprisingly, this lead to a dreadful breakdown in the past. Nevertheless, an eager Ronny arranges a teaching job for Lars at an art school in a small Canadian town in the middle of nowhere. It's a "therapeutic" measure for Lars - a means to conquer his need to paint in the "safety" of a country retreat... That is, until Eddie comes into his life.

Crawlspace -(Australia) - From the producers of Wolf Creek and Red Hill. A group of elite soldiers infiltrate Australia's top secret underground military compound. They quickly discover all is not as it seems and the facility is a testing ground for something far more sinister.

“Screamfest features the best of young, innovative and up-and-coming artists in the cinema of fantasy and horror,” says Director Wes Craven (the Scream franchise, A Nightmare On Elm Street). “It scares me, and I’m Wes Craven!”

Fantastic Fest 2012: New Clip and Stills Become Besties

We all have our special friends that we would do anything in the world for. No matter how sick, depraved, gross, vile, wicked, disingenuous, loathsome, evil, despicable, horrid, malevolent... oh, you get the idea! Read on!

From the Press Release
Director Rebecca Perry Cutter’s debut suspense thriller BESTIES will have its world premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest 2012 on Saturday, September 22nd, at 12:15 pm at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX, and again on Monday, September 24th, at 3:00 pm. The film stars Madison Riley (GROWN UPS, FIRED UP), Olivia Crocicchia (RESCUE ME, TERRI), Corin Nemac (PARKER LEWIS CAN’T LOSE, STARGATE-SG1), and Christopher Backus (ELEVATOR, YELLOW ROCK) and was produced by Linda L. Miller (SWEET TALK, ALYCE), associate producer Tiffany Grant, and executive producer Katherine Hoagland. Feliks Parnell (WEEDS, CSI:NY, THE EVENT) served as Director of Photography.

Fantastic Fest is the largest film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action, and “just plain fantastic movies from all around the world.” It is held each year in various venues in Austin, TX, but primarily at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which was dubbed “the best cinema in America” by Entertainment Weekly. The annual film festival is an eight-day event full of independent films, a variety of unique special events for genre film enthusiasts, and a one-of-a-kind experience in the capital city of Texas, no doubt a favorite hotspot amongst the independent film community. This year the festival runs from September 20th-27th.

BESTIES tells the story of two high school girls – Sandy (Olivia Croicchia), a high school freshman and self-described loser, and Ashley, a sexy senior and Sandy’s former babysitter. Sandy, hoping to forge a friendship with the most popular girl in school, arranges to be left at home under Ashley’s supervision while her father (Corin Nemec) goes out of town. Little did Sandy know that an unexpected visitor from Ashley’s past will leave the awkward freshman and her idol tangled up in a manipulative and deadly friendship.

“I only vaguely remember my first babysitter,” said director Rebecca Perry Cutter. “I don’t remember her name, but I remember that I loved her desperately, with equal parts want and wanting-to-be. That is the dynamic that inspired BESTIES. The movie is about the heady and confusing nature of the girl crush: the passionate idolization that even a straight girl like me can feel for another girl. This passion is at the heart of the relationship between the two leads, Sandy and Ashley.”

Exclusive: Tibor Takacs Talks Spiders 3D

Exclusive: Tibor Takacs Talks Spiders 3DMaking its debut this week at the Los Angeles 3D Film & Music Festival, Spiders 3D is ready to bring 8-legged arachnid mayhem back to the silver screen… in 3D! Read on for our exclusive interview with the man behind this latest web of destruction!

Directed by seasoned sci-fi filmmaker Tibor Takács (The Gate, I, Madman) and starring Christina Campbell (Drive Angry, Hyenas) and veteran giant bug slayer Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers, Stigmata), Spiders 3D aims to mix a bit of old school, nostalgic monster movie flare with a more modern twist. Giant, mutated, evil spiders from space! It doesn’t get any better than that!

Recently Dread Central was able to chat with director Takács about Spiders 3D, his inspirations for giant alien arachnids, getting the tone right in a monster movie, what’s next on the horizon and more!

Dread: When you hear about a movie called Spiders 3D, it kind of conjures up pictures of the old school Hollywood creature features. Can you talk a little about where you got your inspirations and how this film got off the ground?

Takács: It’s sort of an evolved process. I approached Millennium about doing a moderate budget 3D movie. We could take kind of a Syfy Channel budget and turn that into a big screen 3D movie. Nu Image had some success with spider movies, and we wanted to do a giant spider movie because, well, spiders lend themselves to 3D very well, flying through the legs and everything. *laughs*

Most of the inspiration comes from current films, actually. I don’t how much this comes across in the film itself, but a lot of my inspiration actually came from films like Cloverfield. I wanted there to be a nostalgic tone, but not necessarily feel exactly like those films from the 50s. I wanted it to be an homage, but not a parody. I didn’t want people winking at the camera and stuff like that.

Dread: The film is set in New York, and I know on your relatively small budget you probably didn’t shoot there. Where did you guys film this thing?

Takács: Yeah, we couldn’t really get them to shut down the streets in New York. *laughs*

We shot in Bulgaria. They have a 6-block backlot that they call Greenwich Village that was the stand-in for New York. We used their subway system as well. It doesn’t really look like the real New York subway system, but we brought in extra set pieces to make it look a little closer to the real thing.

Dread: One of my favorite things about this movie was the designs on the spiders themselves. They were familiar, but they also had a very otherworldly look to them. Can you talk a little about how you came up with the design?

Takács: Regular spiders, no matter how exotic, are still just earthly spiders. I wanted these to be mutated spiders, alien spiders. They’re also victims of botched scientific experiments. If they were just freaks of the earth, would it be as scary? Probably not.

Dread: Can you talk a little about the cast? In a movie like this, you really need to be able to walk the line between being serious and being a little more lighthearted and funny, and I think they really nailed it. How did you go about casting?

Takács: Everybody who came on board knew what they were in for with a movie like this. I chose people that I felt could play along. There’s a certain attitude that you need to have in order to pull that off. There are so many moments where people had to react to stuff that wasn’t there. You almost need a childlike imagination to react to it, to put themselves there and take it seriously. I wanted the audience to feel like the characters were actually there.

Dread: Kind of going off that, a film like this really lives or dies by its tone. I mean, if you really think about it, it’s kind of a ridiculous situation, alien spiders attacking and all. How were you able to balance that?

Takács: This is a really tricky part. Personal taste really becomes a factor. It’s hard to bet on what the audience will feel. To me, the whole thing is a black comedy. Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the funniest films ever made, but also one of the scariest. You have to be able to land on certain positions.

A film I did a few years ago called Ice Spiders was supposed to be much more comedic, but the studio kept saying, “Make it more serious. Make it more serious.” With this one I got a lot more freedom to hit the notes I felt were right.

Dread: With Spiders 3D now under your belt, do you have anything exciting coming up on the horizon?

Takács: I’d like to do another 3D creature movie. I have a few things in the works, but I can’t really talk about them just yet. I’ve always loved 3D, but I never made a 3D movie before. I’d definitely like to do another one.

Dread: Since this was your first 3D movie, did you run into any challenges that you weren’t expecting?

Takács: Everything went as smoothly as it could have expected. I actually thought it was going to be a lot worse, cameras breaking down and taking hours and hours to fix, things like that. But that never really happened; we had a great crew that took care of any of the problems that came up.

I wanted to make a medium budget 3D movie, and I felt the technology was at the right point to do it. The cameras were the right size that we could almost take a 2D type approach; the technology caught up for us to be able to do it. There were a couple of tight moments, but for the most part everything went very well.

Dread: One last thing really quick. I know you said you couldn’t really get into any specifics about what’s coming up next, but when the time comes for your next project, do you think you’ll want to do a classic monster type movie, or is it going to be something a little different?

Takács: I’d like to do something a bit newer. I have to say that Cloverfield is one of my favorite movies. I’d like to do something along those lines.

Synopsis
Following a crash of an old Soviet space station in New York City's subway tunnel, a new species of poisonous spiders is discovered. Inadvertently the spiders mutate to gigantic proportions and wreak havoc on the entire city.

Casting Update for Lifetime's Witches of East End Pilot

Rachel Boston - Casting Update for Lifetime's Witches of East End PilotA few days ago we learned that Jenna Dewan would be playing one of Julia Ormond's daughters in Lifetime's "Witches of East End," and now we know who's been cast as her sister. Read on for the details of the latest Beauchamp family member as well as two male actors who'll be joining her in the pilot.

TVLine reports that Rachel Boston ("In Plain Sight," "American Dreams") will play Ingrid Beauchamp, who is described as "cautious, quirky, smart, and unaware of how beautiful she is." When the pilot – based on the Melissa de la Cruz novel of the same name — begins, Ingrid and her wild younger sister, Freya (Dewan), don’t know that they’ve been witches since birth. A series of events eventually forces mom Joanna (Julia Ormond) to tell them the truth.

In addition, newcomer Daniel Ditomasso has been cast as Killian Gardiner, Freya’s future brother-in-law. He’s brooding and incredibly sexy, and his thrall over Freya doesn’t bode well for her engagement to Patrick Heusinger’s Dash.

Maggie Friedman, who shepherded ABC’s witch-themed "Eastwick," wrote and will executive produce "Witches of East End" with Erwin Stoff for Fox 21 and 3 Arts.

Novel Synopsis:
The three Beauchamp women--Joanna and her daughters, Freya and Ingrid--live in North Hampton, out on the tip of Long Island. Their beautiful, mist-shrouded town seems almost stuck in time, and all three women lead seemingly quiet, uneventful existences. But they are harboring a mighty secret--they are powerful witches banned from using their magic. Joanna can resurrect people from the dead and heal the most serious of injuries. Ingrid, her bookish daughter, has the ability to predict the future and weave knots that can solve anything from infertility to infidelity. And finally, there's Freya, the wild child, who has a charm or a potion that can cure most any heartache.

For centuries all three women have been forced to suppress their abilities. But then Freya, who is about to get married, finds that her increasingly complicated romantic life makes it more difficult than ever to hide her secret. Soon Ingrid and Joanna confront similar dilemmas, and the Beauchamp women realize they can no longer conceal their true selves. They unearth their wands from the attic, dust off their broomsticks, and begin casting spells on the townspeople. It all seems like a bit of good-natured, innocent magic, but then mysterious, violent attacks begin to plague the town. When a young girl disappears over the Fourth of July weekend, they realize it's time to uncover who and what dark forces are working against them.

Exclusive: Opening The Dead Files - An In-Depth Interview with Amy Allan

For many years I've watched just about every paranormal related show there is. Around 90% of them include a medium or some kind of sensitive who usually ends up making things seem silly what with their "feelings" and such. On "The Dead Files," however, this is far from the case.

Amy Allan is the co-host of the Travel Channel TV show "The Dead Files" and also a physical medium who uses her abilities to communicate with the dead in some of the most frighteningly real ways imaginable. Simply put, she's either the greatest actress in the world or 100% legit. Together with her co-host, retired homicide detective Steve Di Schiavi, the duo investigate hauntings and phenomena all over the country including Alcatraz and the famed Lizzie Borden House. They bring with them a no bullshit approach that's rarely seen nowadays, and to say it's compelling is a bit of an understatement.

Recently Amy sat down with us to discuss not only the show but also what led her to it.

Exclusive: Opening The Dead Files - An In-Depth Interview with Amy Allan

"The first memory I have of dealing with the paranormal was when I was four years old and had encountered shadow people," says Allan. "I really thought they were my friends. They came every night and I would see them on the walls. It was actually a male and a female presence. They were really friendly and nice. We were friends over a long period of time, and eventually they asked me to go with them. They told me to bite the electrical cord on my humidifier, which I did and was electrocuted. After that I realized obviously that they weren't good, and that's kind of when they got scary. They would peel off of the wall and stare at me, or they would scream at me. It was a very traumatizing experience, not only because they were shadow people and they were negative and they tried to kill me, but also because I really thought that they were my friends. They betrayed me in the utmost manner by trying to inflict harm on me."

Growing up, things only became more confusing and frustrating for the young woman.

"Throughout my younger years there would be random experiences like when I was eight or ten years old. I would see people when I was with my friends that they couldn't see. and I really didn't understand that. For instance, one time my friend and I were playing in the living room of my house. We had set up like a little Barbie kingdom of sorts. We then went to get some food, some snacks. When we came back, everything was ruined. Things were all tossed around and torn up, and my friend just screamed and ran out of the house. I was just standing there looking at this little boy who had lived in my house and who was dead. I didn't understand why she would freak out and was afraid. She didn't see him; she only saw what had happened to the Barbies, and that was one of the moments where I was like, 'Hmmm… that's odd. She was afraid but couldn't see him, but I could and wasn't scared at all.' That was just one of those moments. It took until I was about thirteen years old for me to realize that I was different, and I was really upset by this. I just wanted to be normal. I didn't want to see these things. I just wanted to be like everybody else."

Realizing that being normal would never be the case, Allan tried to learn more about what was happening to her.

Amy continued, "For years I had studied the subject of death and the paranormal. I read all of the books and research papers… I was very into the science of it all. In my twenties I started using my ability professionally. I said to myself, 'Okay, I have this thing and it is not going away. What can I do with it?' I started doing lots of research to help me get a handle on these abilities so that I could start helping others to understand what they were going through. At first I started giving readings as a means to help people find closure with their loved ones. That was good, but my thing was always that I was seeing all these dead people who were trapped in homes and couldn't get out. I felt really bad for them, and above all it was them that I wanted to help the most. It really started with me wanting to help the dead more than the living!" *laughs* "The way that the living deal with death and dying and the dead sometimes irritates me. Trying to understand living individuals' perspective on these things has been a real learning experience for me. I try to educate them so that they have a bit more compassion for those who have passed. We tend to Westernize the subject of death here. It's very sterilized and we try to keep the subject away from us, but it's not. It's something that we're all going to experience."

That being said, Amy got immediately to work.

"Over the years I began working with private detectives and police officers and agents. The way that we do the show is very similar to what I did while out in the field. When the idea for the show came about, it was imperative that my partner be someone that was an outside source. Someone who wasn't biased by me and hadn't worked with me. That was Steve [Di Schiavi]. It's an amazing thing that we have together. We work really, really well with each other. He's an amazing guy, and he knows his shit! *laughs*

Exclusive: Opening The Dead Files - An In-Depth Interview with Amy Allan

CONTINUE TO PAGE 2 FOR MORE!

Collectively Amy and Steve have now worked dozens of cases together. Most infamous for this writer is "Fear at the Family Tree" (Season 2, Episode 2), in which she encountered something truly ghastly that could only be described as demonic in nature.

"Its appearance was a bit like that," says Amy of the demon-like misshapen creature, "but what this being consisted of was actually the souls of ordinary dead people. These souls were combined to make up this being which took all of these individuals' negative aspects and created this incredibly negative entity that is still tagging people who, when they die, will have their soul claimed and integrated into this thing's whole. Just last week I received an e-mail from the clients, and they are now moving forward with the cleansing I suggested. The actions of this entity were a big worry for me because not only are the owners at risk of dying and being sucked into that hell, but everyone who goes there is as well. It wasn't just about the legal occupants. It was about all of these people."

Pretty frightening stuff, and lord knows in order to do this kind of thing you need a pretty rough exterior. So then the question beckoned, has there ever been anything out there that she has encountered that was too much for her?

"I really didn't like the Santa Fe Prison" (Season 2, Episode 10). "That place was really bad. It made me violently ill. My experiences there have stayed with me for a long time. I absolutely hated that location. I have never ever seen such evil. There was an entity there that I would call a devil. It had so much power, and I could sense that it was never human. It was beyond anything I've ever known or dealt with. They didn't show the scene on the show, but we went into the execution room and I was literally rendered absolutely speechless. It was so overwhelming and horrible. Yeah, that place needs to go. Knock it down… if you really need to put something there, just put like a parking lot."

Exclusive: Opening The Dead Files - An In-Depth Interview with Amy Allan

With "The Dead Files" returning to Travel Channel this October, we asked Allan what viewers could expect from the new episodes. Being that they're still shooting, there wasn't much that she could say; however, she did have this to offer fans:

"Steve and I have been talking about new places that we'd really like to cover,"says Allan. "One of them is the Villisca Axe Murder House in Villisca, Iowa. That's something we both would very much like to do to see if we can find out what really happened there and who was behind it. I personally still wish for the Amityville house. I want that so bad. It's just a fascinating case. For the new season Steve and I have run into a lot of creepy things thus far. Things we have never seen before. It's shocking, ya know? I think I've seen it all, and then no. I'm going to places that I never would have had access to before. The living people I'm encountering along with the dead who surround them… Every time it's different. Some people ask me, 'Well why were you so shocked? You've been doing this forever.' What they don't realize is that it's not a cookie-cutter kind of thing. It's never the same. You just cannot expect anything."

She added, "There's no place that I wouldn't investigate. I'm up for anything. I would LOVE to do some international locations. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I lived in Yugoslavia for a long time and have done a lot of traveling, and let me tell you, there is A LOT out there."

There are a lot of dangerous things in the paranormal field that fledgling ghost hunters and even people just screwing around could find themselves facing. It's really easy to do something wrong, and Allan had this to say about a very common practice - the usage of Ouija boards...

"Yeah, I don't like Ouijas. The thing about them that is different than other tools is that it's a summoning device. What you are doing is you are calling out things… whether it's dead people or some kind of other scary thing, you are opening a door to let everything and anything in. People need to look at that. This is not just a game; it is a summoning device. You are summoning things to you. When you do that, you are in it for the long haul. You're screwed."

From there Amy had some words for people out there who are interested in this most controversial subject... advice on how to go about investigating the proper way.

"There's a true learning curve to doing this. If you're passionate and this is something that you really want to do, take some time to read the literature that's out there. Read about parapsychology, look at the studies. Look at what the proper instruments you need are and find out how they can be applicable in the field. Always do your research first before you go running out there and jumping off the cliff. Through that research and study you will learn how to do it right and, more importantly, how to do it safely. "

Sounds like some good advice, if you ask us. "The Dead Files" airs every Friday on Travel Channel. Look for more from Amy and the show itself really soon!

Big thanks to Amy for her time, and a shout-out to Stephanie DePietro for her help in making this happen.

Yet another comic book adaptation is on its way to the small screen and we certainly hope that this one fares better than the highly anticipated and tragically cancelled "Locke & Key" project from last year. Read on for details.

According to Deadline NBC has put in development "Midnight, Mass.," a drama series based on characters from the Vertigo comic books and graphic novels published by DC Entertainment. Snow White And The Huntsman co-writer Evan Daugherty will write the adaptation, produced by Warner Bros. TV and Bill Gerber‘s Gerber Pictures, which has received a script commitment.

Midnight, Mass. comics creator John Rozum will serve as an executive consultant on the TV project, about a sophisticated, sexy, globe-trotting husband and wife paranormal investigator team — based in Midnight, Massachusetts — that takes on supernatural foes, macabre mysteries and the most frightening creature of all: marriage. Feature producer Gerber (Gran Torino) executive produces, with Daugherty co-executive producing.

Legendary Pictures Brings in New Writer to Rework the Script for Spectral

Legendary Pictures Brings in New Writer to Rework the Script for SpectralIt was last November when we first heard about Legendary Pictures' supernatural action project Spectral from writer Ian Fried, and all has been quiet ever since. However, now some movement is under way as Jayson Rothwell has been brought in to rework the script.

Although the project doesn't have any producers lined up yet, sources told Variety that Thomas Tull, Legendary's founder and CEO, loves the concept and is very much behind getting the film up and running.

The premise of Spectral is centered on a modern-day, militaristic, and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural. It has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.

With a new scribe on board, however, things are of course subject to change so look for more soon!
