Grimm Entertainment is releasing Some Guy Who Kills People in the UK next month theatrically and on Blu-ray/DVD, and we have all the details you need along with the artwork for both methods of distribution.

The film will be screening at various cinemas around the country beginning October 5th and then available on Blu-ray and DVD from October 8th. Since Grimm is the mastermind behind the upcoming Grimmfest film festival in Manchester, there will also be some special screenings there. It runs October 3rd-7th (get more information at the official Grimm Up North website).

Synopsis:

Over the last couple of days The Scream Factory's Facebook page has been revealing the artwork for their upcoming Blu-rays of The Nest and Deadly Blessing. In addition, today being Friday, they also announced another new release for us to look forward to: 1988's Prison.

Prison was directed by Renny Harlin and stars Viggo Mortensen, Chelsea Field, Lane Smith, Kane Hodder, Tommy "Tiny" Lister, and Tom Everett. Look for it sometime in 2013.

Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) attempt to buy Matt’s (Zach Roerig) forgiveness falls flat, but she is intrigued by unexpected news from Klaus (Joseph Morgan). When Stefan (Paul Wesley) questions Klaus about Connor’s (guest star Todd Williams) motives, Klaus reveals a long-ago encounter with a powerful group of vampire hunters, but it’s Rebekah who delivers the information that stuns Stefan.

The last time Universal took a crack at making a Van Helsing flick, things went sour, then silly, then abysmal. Given that they've seen the error of their ways, they've actively been searching for a new director to point them in the right direction. That being said...

Twitch is reporting that Snow White and the Huntsman director, the ever so controversial Rupert Sanders, and Universal have engaged in some early and still relatively casual conversations about Universal's upcoming Van Helsing with the sides expressing a mutual interest in doing the project with one another.

Tom Cruise is attached to both produce and star as the titular vampire hunter in the Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman penned story. Cruise is currently filming All You Need Is Kill with Van Helsing a strong possibility to be his next project after that, meaning Universal needs to lock down a director fairly quickly, and this would certainly seem to play to Sanders' skill set while also allowing a bit of breathing space for the director.

Good to see The Thompsons moving steadily in the right direction. Everything we've seen so far has indicated that The Butcher Brothers' sequel to The Hamiltons was going to get the type of rating that genre fans love, and today we've got glorious confirmation.

All the regulars return -- Cory Knauf, Samuel Child, Joseph McKelheer, and Mackenzie Firgens -- in this sequel that follows the Hamiltons as they sneak into a new town. Ryan Hartwig, Daniel O'Meara, and Selina Giles also star. The horror follow-up is rated R for brutal bloody violence, some strong sexuality, nudity and language.

Synopsis:
In the sequel a bloodbath at a gas station in the desert puts the family on the run, eventually seeing them resurface in the U.K. under a new identity as 'the Thompsons'. Desperate for protection in this unfamiliar country, the Thompsons seek out the help of a shadowy underground rumored to be sympathetic to vampires.

Benny confesses that he’s going after his Maker (guest star Patrick Stafford) so Dean offers to help, flashing back on the many times Benny helped him and Castiel (Misha Collins) in Purgatory. Meanwhile Sam (Jared Padalecki) uses his solo time to reflect on the life he left behind with Amelia (guest star Liane Balaban). However, when things go bad for Dean and Benny, Dean calls Sam for help, which makes everything very complicated.

Guy Bee directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.

I’ve been to more haunted attractions than I can count, and have been subjected to some pretty crazy things over the years, but never before have I been given a poncho when entering an event. Hell, they don’t even give ponchos out at GWAR shows.

Nevertheless, our guide tells us that we’re gonna need em since things get extra sticky at the 2012 Los Angeles Haunted Hayride.

The ghoulish hayride at Griffith Park has become one of the great annual Halloween traditions and this year they’ve really pulled out all the stops to stand out among all the other L.A. haunts. Visitors in line are entertained by a trio of decapitated heads on spikes singing barber shop quartet style before being led into a literal cattle cage in preparation for the hayride. Once we’re loaded into the back of the tractor, our driver takes off into the fog-drenched night where we’re instantly hit with blood dripping from a hanged body overhead.

From there, we’re taken on a roughly 25-minute ride through a ton of jaw dropping set-pieces: Creepy corpse families, homicidal clowns, hot leather-clad undead girls, giant animatronic monsters, an evil Christmas village (complete with psycho elves), and even a robot 80’s hair-metal band from Hell. Yup, there’s a little something for everyone. Most impressive is an outdoor cathedral with a devil presiding over an evil congregation which was one of the most amazing spectacles I’ve ever seen in all my years of attending haunts.

After the ride, our group is dropped off at “Purgatory” – a small Halloween carnival with stage acts and numerous activities, but we proceed straight to this year’s dark maze. “In Between” is a classic maze loaded with monsters and well-timed scares but with a twist: One member of your group is given a tiny barely-functioning strobe lantern to navigate the pitch black corridors inside. The maze itself seemed to go on almost as long as the hayride itself so it’s well-worth the ticket price for both.

While the Haunted Hayride has never disappointed, the 2012 incarnation has eclipsed all previous years with its combination of warped set-pieces and fun carnival atmosphere. If you live in Southern California, be sure to work this one into your October plans. The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is running now through October 31st and tickets can be purchased on the official website.

In a world in which bad decisions are as common as breathing, some troubling news has come out regarding the sequel to the amazing flick Chronicle. The Playlist recently caught up with John Landis (father or Chronicle scribe Max Landis), who had this to say...

[Max] "wrote a sequel, and it’s amazing, and the studio read it and said, ‘We want ‘Chronicle’ again!’ And he said, ‘No, this is the sequel, it’s the evolution, and they said ‘No, we want that movie again!’ So it’s difficult; we’re dealing with a difficult business."

As previously reported, Chronicle 2 was moving along nicely, and as the first film was about the world's first superhero, the sequel was to be about the world's first supervillain.

The cast includes the amazing talents of Michael Biehn, Sarah Butler (I Spit On Your Grave), Caitlin Keats (Kill Bill 2), Matthew Ziff (Among Friends), Chris Meyer (Kiss of The Damned), and Richard Gunn and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, who played Sketchy and Kendra on James Cameron's "Dark Angel".

The film captures the controversy between Henry and his estranged son, Nathan. Reunited at a friend’s small wedding party in a remote cabin, Henry and Nathan have their usual awkward interactions. Nathan, accompanied by his girlfriend Cecilia, seeks his father's approval. Cecilia's presence only adds to Henry's discomfort, forcing him to want to leave, but a storm hits, trapping them in the cabin and headed for the worst along with the rest of the group. None of them really realize what is truly in store.

On Saturday, October 13, Mad Monster Movie Night will feature a classic anthology film. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Creepshow, Mad Monster will screen the legendary film at the Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood at 9 p.m.

In addition to the anniversary screening of Creepshow, special guests who contributed in the creation of the film will be in attendance. Also, the first 100 folks to get their tickets online and like Mad Monster on Facebook will get a limited edition Creepshow 30th Anniversary Event Poster (see below). Mad Monster Movie Night is the 13th of every month (November celebrates Army of Darkness, December celebrates Gremlins) and all of our screenings offer prize raffles, special guests, costume contests and other fun surprises. The Creepshow Costume Contest is especially cool because in addition to the prize at the show, Costume Contest contenders will also be automatically entered into an online contest sponsored by Monsterpalooza.

Fans from all over the world will vote on their favorite and the winner will get two one-day passes to Son of Monsterpalooza on October 26th-28th. Of course, Monsterpalooza will also be raffling off their monster swag at the screening.

There will be a Q&A with special guests Pasquale Buba (editor of George Romero's Creepshow, Day of the Dead, Knightriders, The Dark Half, Two Evil Eyes and Monkey Shines - Pasquale also made cameos in Martin and Dawn of the Dead!) and John Harrison (composer of the soundtracks for George Romero's Creepshow and Day of the Dead , director of Tales From the Darkside: The Movie as well as episodes of the original series, producer of Diary of the Dead and John even made cameos in Knightriders and Dawn of the Dead!)

Synopsis
