With Syfy’s Original Movie American Horror House debuting tomorrow, October 13th, at 9PM, we caught up with Latin actress Isabel Cueva, who stars alongside Morgan Fairchild and Alessandra Torresani in the Darin Scott-directed ghost flick.

Cueva, who previously appeared in Jack the Reaper and will next appear alongside Danny Trejo in American Flyer, said of her experience with American Horror House, “I love playing dramatic characters, and I loved the experience of playing a character that changes throughout the story; the killer in this movie is very creative in the way he/she kills! You will see people die, but not in the common ways we see in horror films, and while I don’t get to do any screaming, I do cry.”

Check out the exclusive clip and photo below as well as the trailer for American Horror House.

Synopsis:
On Halloween night a sorority house is overrun with ghosts while a vengeful housemother goes on a killing spree. The American Horror House Original Movie is directed by Darin Scott (Dark House) and stars Morgan Fairchild and Alessandra Torresani.

Teen Wolf Confusion - Is Colton Haynes Leaving the Show?

Teen Wolf Confusion - Is Colton Haynes Leaving the Show?Just as production is gearing up for Season 3 of MTV's popular series "Teen Wolf," there are rumors flying around the Net as to whether or not fan favorite Colton Haynes (aka Jackson Whittemore) will be returning. Read on for what we know so far.

"Colton is leaving Teen Wolf," a source told Us Weekly. "It's not that he didn't want to return because he did. It's that the heads of the show wanted to limit him to only appearing on half the season -- 12 episodes, not 24. If he did the 12 episodes, he would not be able to work on anything else during the 12 episodes he's not on," the source explained.

Haynes seemed to confirm his exit by tweeting, "These past few yrs have been the best of my life. I'm sad that this chapter has ended, but excited for a new one to begin. Thx for the love."

However, a spokesperson for MTV denied the rumors, telling Us there is "absolutely no truth that Colton is being pushed out or that he, or any cast member, is being replaced. We love Colton and look forward to his returning with the entire cast for Season 3 of 'Teen Wolf'."

Clear as mud, right? Colton's character went through a pretty major transformation at the end of Season 2, and we were looking forward to seeing how it played out. Hopefully we'll have some clarification one way or the other shortly.

With "The Walking Dead" cast and crew celebrating the premiere of Season Three in Los Angeles, our favorite survivors took some time to head on over to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights to experience "The Walking Dead: Dead Inside" maze. Dig on this video.

Laurie Holden, who stars as strong-willed "Andrea," called the maze "scarier than the show." "The Walking Dead: Dead Inside" maze is based on the Golden Globe-nominated hit television series and features "walkers" and props cast from the show's original molds. Hershel's walker-laden barn and such menacing characters as well-walker, bicycle-girl and deer-eater also infiltrate the maze. Universal Studios collaborated with the show's creators to create an authentic, true-to-the-series experience.

Mockingbird Lane Update; Bryan Fuller Still Hopeful Series Can Be Salvaged

    0
    0

So it looks like we shouldn't completely count out "Mockingbird Lane" just yet. TV Guide has posted a lengthy article with the reboot's writer, Bryan Fuller, and he remains bullish on the show... and thinks Halloween is a perfect time to get viewers on board. Read on for a few excerpts.

As reported previously, the network has decided to air the show's pricey $10 million pilot on Friday, October 26th, at 8:00 pm before "Grimm." But Fuller's not overly concerned. "Such a different show merits a different way of getting it out to the audience... At its core it's a story about a family trying to carve a path in the world for a son who has challenges. It's intimately relatable, but we get to tell that story with monsters," he said. "It's gorgeous, every frame is sumptuous. You get to have these really interesting actors coming in and taking their spins on these classic characters. I love the original 'Munsters' and didn't want to step on it in any way of putting people in Frankenstein makeup and Dracula makeup. So we went our own direction."

Deals with the actors don't expire until July of next year, and if enough viewers tune in on the 26th, the possibility of "Mockingbird" turning into a fall 2013 series still exists. Fuller has big plans for the show, including a new take on the Munsters' pet Spot, a revved up Drag-u-la racer, and even a cameo by Butch Patrick, the original Eddie Munster. For more info, keep reading, and then be sure to hit the link at the bottom of the page for the full interview.

TV Guide Magazine: What do you hope will come out of NBC's "Mockingbird Lane" screening?

Bryan Fuller: Airing a pilot as a standalone seems unheard of, but when you actually see the "Mockingbird Lane" pilot, it has a beginning, middle and an end. It's an emotional story of a family told in such an unconventional way, and with so many different tools that we have at our disposal because it's The Munsters and not a regular family unit... If we get a huge number, all the cast are in line to be picked up and to go to series. And that was one of the things that NBC wanted to make sure, that they had all of the cast deals in line -- so that if we did get a big number and audiences proved their appetite for this type of show, that they could move very quickly.

TVGM: It sounded like there was a debate over what to do with "Mockingbird." What were the options?

Fuller: Every conversation I had with [NBC Entertainment president] Jennifer Salke was, "I believe in this show." It's about really trying to understand who the audience is. What is the best way to present something that you haven't presented before? There is caution on that front, but there was also tremendous support to get it out there and to get people to see it and have them make it up their own minds. There were options like going on in the spring. And I'm happy about coming on in Halloween. When we were filming [the pilot] in July, I said, "We should sneak this at Halloween. We should make this a Halloween event and get it out there." It is a Halloween show. It belongs in the autumn.

Related Story: New Images From Mockingbird Lane Look Like Anything But The Munsters

TVGM: You've got a busy schedule and are focused right now on "Hannibal." When would you be able to turn your attention to "Mockingbird"?

Fuller: The idea would be, in success, to start at the beginning of July to go to series. I would complete my work on "Hannibal" in mid-February and then segue immediately to "Mockingbird Lane" to get things ready to start shooting by July, should we be so fortunate to go to series.

TVGM: You were given additional script orders this summer. Have those been written?

Fuller: We have outlines for three episodes, which are ready to go should we go to series. We charted out a six-episode arc and have outlines for three of them. We just need the trigger pulled to get going.

TVGM: What do those episodes focus on?

Fuller: Every episode focuses on a different member of the family in a great way. Lily is going through this huge arc of, "I was living my life a certain way because I thought my child was a certain way. Now that my child has changed, do I change?" So she's having an identity crisis. It's all about your identity and family. So each of those individual episodes are all family stories about characters trying to find their place within the larger group. In different ways because they're monsters.

TVGM: And, I assume, adjusting to their new home and neighborhood on Mockingbird Lane.

Fuller: Yes, so there's a great neighborhood watch episode. There's what happens when the Creature from the Black Lagoon shows up and puts challenges on Herman's and Lily's relationship. That's a tremendous amount of fun. I was bolstered by the success of "Once Upon a Time" because it took the fantastic elements of fairy tales and brought them to this parallel world of storytelling. We're able to bring in all the fantastic elements of the Universal monster family and tell those stories in new and relatable ways. I really see a connection between those two shows. The audience has demonstrated an appetite for "Once Upon a Time" and would certainly find "Mockingbird Lane" a very tasty dish.

"Mockingbird Lane" is a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about "The Munsters," a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein — and their “plain” cousin that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy "Pushing Daisies."

Portia DeRossi and Jerry O’Connell star as Lily and Herman Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie, and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn.

Feature Adaptation of Valiant Comics' Shadowman on Its Way

    0
    0

Feature Adaptation of Valiant Comics' Shadowman on Its WayValiant Entertainment and The Mummy producer Sean Daniel are teaming up to turn Valiant Comics' Shadowman into a live action feature and have tapped J. Michael Straczynski to write the script.

Along with Daniel, the film’s producers are Jason Kothari, Dinesh Shamdasani, and Jason Brown with Straczynski the exec producer.

Shadowman has sold millions of comic books and spawned two multi-platform video games. Per Deadline, the film’s logline is: The forces of darkness are determined to claim New Orleans as their own, and Jack Boniface must accept the legacy he was born to uphold in order to stop them. As Shadowman, Jack is about to become the only thing that stands between his city and an army of unspeakable monstrosities from beyond the night. He must pay a high price and master his new abilities before Master Darque brings down the wall between reality and the eldritch darkness of the Deadside.

“Shadowman is a character who lives in a unique world that mixes the modern world with that which is most ancient within us,” said Straczynski. “The New Orleans vibe and history, and the struggle to find a balance with the personality within him, is a perfect dramatic vehicle. We’ve already finished the outline and there’s a lot of action, much of it unique to what Shadowman can do…but at the core of it there’s a strong character, world and mythology that can be explored across multiple subsequent films. This is gonna be fun.”

Said Valiant CEO Jason Kothari: “Shadowman is the first in a large slate of film projects that we are developing and funding internally at Valiant. Between Sean’s evidenced track record and Joe’s creative genius, we are very enthused about building a potential franchise here.”

    Look for more soon.

Glass Eye Pix Announces The Designer; Check Out the Artwork and a Teaser for Segment 1: The Businessman

    0

Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix has teamed up with director Graham Reznick's Aphasiafilms to launch The Designer, a new project to be released in segments over the course of the next year. Have a look at its artwork and a teaser of the first segment, "The Businessman."

    From the Press Release:
Written and directed by Reznick, THE DESIGNER will initially be teased out as a series of online shorts that will draw the viewer into the mystery of the feature-length narrative. The shorts will then be reconfigured in the feature to reveal the heart of the story.

Graham Reznick has been a member of the Glass Eye Pix stable for nearly a decade, serving as sound designer on all recent projects as well as directing the award-winning 3D science fiction short THE VIEWER, the critically praised feature I CAN SEE YOU, the STAKE LAND short THE DAY I TOLD MY BOYFRIEND with Danielle Harris, and the TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE radio play “THE GRANDFATHER,” featuring Angus Scrimm.

THE DESIGNER follows a journalist searching for the mysteriously missing designer of a massively popular new video game. Told through interviews, investigations, and flashbacks featuring both players of the game and its developers, THE DESIGNER explores the dark possibilities of the evolving symbiotic relationship between video games and their players.

Reznick says: “With ubiquitous Internet access and networked computers that we can keep in our pocket, we live in a new technological utopia. Technology can do anything for us - but sometimes we have to wonder who the technology is really serving: the users or the designers.”

Fessenden says: “After developing several film projects with Reznick over the past few years, we got involved with a high-profile video game project (which will be announced in the coming days), and it got our gears turning. We wanted to create a cinematic story that not only is about video games but could be dispersed in a method inspired by the way we interact with video games. The trick is to play with the structural elements of storytelling and dissemination while maintaining a narrative and emotional thread. Graham is the perfect filmmaker for this sort of project, with his passion for science fiction, gaming, film montage, and sound design.”

The first segment, THE BUSINESSMAN, has already been completed. It features Larry Fessenden (I SELL THE DEAD, BROKEN FLOWERS) and Helen Rogers (V/H/S).

B-Sides: Michael Myers Is Dancin’ on Midnight

Everyone remembers Twisted Sister, right? Do you remember White Sister? This other Eighties hair metal band never hit it as big as their sisterly counterparts, but much like Dee Snyder they did make contributions to the horror genre, specifically to the Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers soundtrack.

White Sister actually made two contributions to horror movie soundtracks of the Eighties. Their song ”Save Me Tonight” was included on the soundtrack to the original Fright Night. That’s another B-Sides for another day.

White Sister’s “Dancin’ on Midnight” can be heard throughout Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. They certainly seemed to have a thing for time-of-day rock songs.

Now’s a perfect time to showcase “Dancin’ on Midnight” seeing as how we’re in the Halloween season. “Dancin’ on Midnight” certainly sounds like a perfect song for Michael Myers to rock out to while dancin’ on his victims’ graves.

Mockingbird Lane Teaser Arrives; Will You Be Watching?

Finally, after months of speculation, we have our first real look at NBC's "Munsters" reboot, "Mockingbird Lane." The network is airing the pilot on Friday, October 26th, and will decide after seeing the show's reception whether or not it will move forward with a series order. Will you be watching?

The "Mockingbird Lane" pilot was written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer. It is a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about "The Munsters," a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein — and their “plain” cousin that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy "Pushing Daisies."

    Footage Description
Sweeping over the town in a moody blue tint... the pace is fast as if approaching for a landing. A large building is totally ingulfed in flames on the right. As the camera passes we see more fires, and then it seems like everything standing is in flames as well as cars and even the ground in places. The camera dives to ground level, and up ahead we see a familiar black silhouette. The camera rushes toward the slender female form in a dress, and the shadow lifts her head to reveal Chloe as Carrie covered in blood. Very impactful. Crowd loved it.

    Synopsis:
A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of CARRIE earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

MGM and Screen Gems’ CARRIE is directed by Kim Peirce and produced by Kevin Misher (Public Enemies). J. Miles Dale (The Vow) serves as executive producer, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Big Love) wrote the script from King’s original story. CARRIE’s creative team includes Director of Photography Steve Yedlin (Looper), Production Designer Carol Spier (Eastern Promises), Costume Designer Luis Sequeira (The Thing), and Editor Lee Percy (Boys Don’t Cry).

Okay, my fellow Deadites. On tap right now is the first official still and the footage description from the New York Comic Con Evil Dead panel thanks to our own Nomad! Read on to find out what was shown and glimpse your first demon in high resolution!

    Footage Description
Best horror trailer I've ever seen! It's a collecton of flashes... the woods... the house... the inside in disarray... blood leading to a rug... the door under the rug... animals hanging in the cellar... a book being unwrapped out of some plastic... cryptic messages written in red within... then all hell breaks loose. People crawling on the ground in an inhuman way... people in shadow with a light passing over... tree rape... a woman with a twitching hand... she goes at it with an electric knife (the kind you use to cut a turkey), and finally a possessed woman cutting into her face... and then the final sequence of a possessed woman menacing another woman, licking a box cutter with the blade into her tongue. The crowd is screaming the whole time. Huge reaction. Jane from the movie is returning to her seat when the lights come on. She got crazy freaked out as she never saw the trailer before. So suffice to say, the trailer is extremely effective. It's wet... mean and intense.

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the following still!

New York Comic Con 2012: Footage Description from The Bay, Beautiful Creatures, and The ConjuringThe first footage from three upcoming horror flicks was shown as the currently kicking ass New York Comic Con, and our own Paul Nomad and Heather Buckley were there typing away like loonies. Read on for what was show from The Bay, Beautiful Creatures, and The Conjuring.

Two very quick clips from The Bay were shown to the audience. It wasn't much but it definitely had people squirming. The first featured tiny Isopods eating a fish from the inside out, and the second showcased the same Isopods crawling beneath a little girl's skin and she's reaching for help.

The Bay stars Will Rogers, Stephen Kunken, Kether Donohue, Frank Deal, and Kristen Connolly, and was directed by Barry Levinson.

Look for it in theaters and available on VOD November 2, 2012, from Roadside Attractions

    Synopsis
The quaint seaside town of Chesapeake Bay thrives on water; it is the lifeblood of the community. When two biological researchers from France find a staggering level of toxicity in the water, they attempt to alert the mayor, but he refuses to create a panic in the docile town. As a result, a deadly plague is unleashed, turning the people of Chesapeake Bay into hosts for a mutant breed of parasites that take control of their minds, and eventually their bodies. A brutal and harrowing creature feature for the 21st century, THE BAY chronicles the descent of a small town into absolute terror.

Next up was Beautiful Creatures whose footage was shown b-roll style with behind-the-scenes moments which were cut together quickly... kids in a class room and the windows explode in on them... a dining sequence with the witches and the table is spinning and the chandelier is rocking. The walls are covered in vines... seems to be the witches' house... people kissing... beautiful costumes... a woman with a dress covered in butterflies and some on her face... a man dressed as the sky.

Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert star as Ethan and Lena, teenage lovers who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town. Margo Martindale plays Lena's Aunt Del, who helps to protect her from the family's dark side. Zoey Deutch portrays Emily Asher, Ethan's ex-girlfriend and the ringleader of the high school's popular clique that conspires against Lena. The film co-stars Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Emmy Rossum, Kyle Gallner, and Project X star Thomas Mann.

Look for Beautiful Creatures in theaters on February 13, 2013.

And finally a trailer and clip from James Wan's The Conjuring, which tells the tales of one of the most infamous paranormal cases from investigative icons Ed and Lorraine Warren, were shown.

New York Comic Con 2012: Footage Description from The Bay, Beautiful Creatures, and The ConjuringThe trailer opens with grainy footage of people going into a cellar... same footage showed to an audience... cuts to creepy grainy black and white photographs and a broken vintage doll (of course!) Ed and Lorraine Warren meet the family... sequence of scary events... Ed and Lorraine pass a tree. Lorraine sees what looks like a witch's legs bloodied and scarred... hanging behind Ed... people flying across the kitchen... a hand print appearing on a family member's arm... an evil figure jumping off the top of a closet... and Lorraine talking to a family member looking at a music box with a clown face in it, and when she looks in its mirror, an evil woman is reflected behind her. Cut to black.

Full clip: Exterior farm house... mother and daughter playing hide and seek and the daughter... young... wraps a red bandana over the mother's eyes and tells her to go find her. The daughter claps and the mother has to follow the sound. The girl runs and hides. Mother is listening for claps and goes into the daughter's room and the closet door opens and we hear a clap... no one is inside. She calls out to her daughter and no one answers. She hears a horrible crashing noise... goes out of the room and takes off her blindfold and sees all the family portraits on the steps are shattered... glass all over the stairs. The mom walks down the stairs and the clock chimes go off... clapping is heard again... mom calls out. "Who is that?" The house is dimly lit. Down the hall a door opens to the basement. Claps heard again. Mother goes towards the door and steps inside. The basement lightbulb shatters and goes dark. The door closes on her and she falls down the steps. She's hurt and terrified... goes to light a match, and the evil looking woman appears behind her. Cut to black.

Scream Factory Announces From Beyond Collector's Edition Blu-ray for 2013

Here’s some news that should excite your pineal gland. The Shout Factory’s Scream Factory sub-label once again established themselves as the preeminent purveyors of cult horror on Blu-ray when they announced plans to release From Beyond next year.

Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton reunited for Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon’s 1986 follow-up, From Beyond, another icky mix of horror and humor based loosely on an H.P. Lovecraft tale. This time instead of resurrecting the dead it’s all about parallel dimensions, sexual perversion, and lots of slimy, gory antics.

From Beyond may not be as well regarded as Re-Animator but it has achieved a big enough cult following over the years that Scream Factory’s announcement Friday From Beyond would be getting a “collector’s edition” DVD/Blu-ray release sometime in 2013 should come as very welcome news.

Here’s the official announcement from Scream Factory’s Facebook page:

FROM BEYOND (1986) - from the Director of Re-Animator- will be coming out as a Collector's Edition Bluray & DVD combo next year! There will be new extras along with the older ones which were on the prior 2007 DVD release.

The Apparition Reappearing on DVD and Blu-ray Next Month

    0
    0

That certainly didn’t take long. It rarely does when the movie is as big of a box office flop as The Apparition was. The Ashley Greene spookfest about a young couple being haunted in their new house opened on big screens less than two months ago.

It will now be reappearing on small screens in just over a month.

Todd Lincoln’s The Apparition was unceremoniously dumped onto about 800 screens on August 24th where it was greeted even less ceremoniously by disinterested audiences. Opening in 12th place, only grossing a little over $4 million for its entire theatrical run, it should come as no surprise that Warner Brothers is rushing the movie to DVD and Blu-ray November 27th, according to Blu-ray.com.

Warner Brothers has yet to announce any disc specs or DVD artwork. Something tells me this disc will be pretty much barebones.
