The Walking Dead: Q&A with Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier)

So last night we learned the fate of Carol on AMC's "The Walking Dead," and if you're not quite caught up yet, you may want to skip this week's Q&A, which is with Melissa McBride, who portrays the character on the show.

But if you are up-to-speed, then dig in as McBride talks about learning to kill walkers this season and describes how she prepared for her rescue scene in Episode 6.

Q: Last year you told us how eager you were for Carol to get to use a weapon against a walker. Now that she's a veteran, has it been everything you hoped it would be?

A: It's everything I hoped for and a lot more. The psychology of it is interesting. My first zombie kill, at the fence with a crowbar, it was so weird to put one down; that was the first time for me as an actor. It was kind of heart-breaking; I mean you know you have to do it, but always there's this thought in the back of your mind like this is supposed to be somebody.

Q: Did you do any training to get in fighting shape for these scenes?

A: There wasn't really practice; it was just getting acquainted with the gun, getting used to if there was any kind of kickback or anything. The difficult thing is if you're putting down the walker with any kind of instrument in your hands -- like the crowbar or a machete -- it has to be so precise, you don't want to actually hurt anybody. The actors who play the walkers often can't see much, but we practice those moves lots of times before we do it. Last season I smacked one of the zombies' hands with a plank of wood, and I was petrified. But she was OK!

The Walking Dead: Q&A with Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier)

Q: Everyone talks about how hard the conditions are on set. How has this season stacked up?

A: Being in the prison as much as we have been is a relief from the heat, but at the same time being outside like we were on the farm was nice. I guess I like being miserable; it just plays into what's going on. We're hot, we're miserable and we're sweaty.

Q: The chemistry between Carol and Daryl is pretty evident now. How do you and Norman Reedus get along off-camera?

A: I love my scenes with Norman. He is such a fun guy to be around, and he throws in some great stuff. He's always unpredictable and organic. It really is something that's evolved. We had a great sit down in Season 2, and we were talking about our own lives. He gets me and I get him, and I feel like Carol and Daryl are sort of the same way.

Q: You spent a couple episodes this season presumed dead. What did you do with your time off from the set?

A: I actually like to go to the set and hang out and watch everybody. When you're acting in a scene, you're focused on doing the scene. You can't break character and go, "Oh my God, I love what you're doing!" But these are such great actors and I love to go see them perform. I was there when Rick broke down. They did it many times, and it was so beautiful every time and a little different. I was there when Sarah had the baby and Maggie delivered it and Carl put her down. It's wonderful to watch and makes me proud. It inspires me to see these incredible performances.

Q: What have been some of your favorite moments for Carol this season?

A: I love the scene where Daryl finds Carol in the cell. It was funny; we were joking about making sure that he would be able to pick me up, and I told him that I lost four pounds just so he could pick me up. He was like, "What are you saying?" I was like, "Nothing, Carol is supposed to be dehydrated and tired!"

It's kind of amusing to us that since Adam and Joe of FEARnet's "Holliston" started talking about soccer-themed horror with their "movie"Shinpads, a zombie flick taking place on the field shambles our way. Great minds thinking alike?

According to Twitch, Goal of the Dead is headed our way from directors Benjamin Rocher (The Horde) and Thierry Poiraud (Atomik Circus). Read on for the skinny!

Saturday, the 18th of January, 2012. A quarter of an hour before the match. An hour before the Apocalypse. In a small village in the northeast of France, Caplongue, lays a nuclear power plant, industrialized agriculture and a church lower than its unemployment rate but also a football team, which managed to reach the 1/32nd French Final Cup with a lot of courage and talent. The village is all the more jubilant at the idea of receiving the Paris Olympic, a top league club with famous footballers. For the Paris Olympic, it's the opposite. The team mustn't lose. This match, which was supposed to be a formality, has become of paramount importance. Between Paris and Caplongue there are more than 250kms. It's a match that opposes the rural to the urban world, the amateurs to the professionals, a province town to the capital, the poor to the rich. While the amateurs give a rough ride to the professionals, an epidemic instantly transforms the players, the spectators and the inhabitants into strange and enraged creatures.

Serial Killers and Earthquakes on Tap for Shake

Serial Killers and Earthquakes on Tap for ShakeHaving been through several earthquakes since moving to California, I can tell you first-hand that they're no fun at all. In fact, the feeling of helplessness that washes over you during them really sucks. Now imagine if you will a madman being on the loose during one.

According to The Wrap, in 2009 Jerry Bruckheimer Films tapped 3:10 to Yuma scriptwriters Michael Brandt and Derek Hass to adapt their short story Shake for the big screen. Now the project has found a home at Paramount Pictures with Bruckheimer producing for the studio.

Taking place during an earthquake, the story follows FBI agent Tim Cooper, who has Parkinson’s disease, and his partner, who are trying to track down a brutal serial killer who has been their target for years in Los Angeles.

Shake first appeared on Popcorn Fiction, a website created by Haas for screenwriters to show off hard-boiled fiction. Bruckheimer reportedly paid seven figures to the writers for the deal in 2009.

Writer Jesse Snider Talks About Resurrecting Evil Ernie

0
0

Writer Jesse Snider Talks About Resurrecting Evil ErnieJesse Snider is a comic book writer with a huge task in front of him. He is currently in the process of bringing Evil Ernie back to the racks. And if his first two issues are any sign of what's to come, the future is bright for the Evil one. Snider recently sat down with Dread Central to talk about the book.

Son of legendary rock star Dee Snider, Jesse Snider's deep love for the Evil Ernie character and the Chaos! universe led him to tackling the task of evolving Ernie, as he feels what worked for the story in the 90's should be modified for greater appeal to today's audiences. He discussed why he felt Brian Pulido's original Evil Ernie character needed new life.

"Lady Death is still owned by Brian Pulido and Lady Death is integral in 99.9 percent of the characters that Chaos! was publishing, so there was a real need to reevaluate the whole line," Snider said. "I think Chaos! suffered because all the characters began as incidental characters in a book with one of their main characters and grew into their own thing but were still so reliant on Lady Death's backstory to tell their own story. They weren't as strong because everything about them was based on another character."

"So as we've been taking these characters, starting with Ernie, it's been so wonderful reinventing them as an island with no connection to anyone. Just them as a character and giving them the spotlight 100 percent. In doing that with Ernie, it had to be all about him. And although I always struggled with the Chaos! Comics they published back in the day, I loved the company. I love Brian Pulido and his wife; they're all great guys. They're headbangers that I think your average person would have stayed away from because they were the scary guys at the comic con, but if you were just willing to go talk to them, they were the nicest people at the comic con. And at a time when I was just getting into the business, they were very welcoming to me. But they came out of the 90's when it was very style over substance and the formation of these stories was very chaotic. Brian Pulido wrote this stuff by the seat of his pants and a lot of things didn't line up. And I’m really picky about my horror stuff and I need it to be rooted and I need it to make some sense for me."

As a writer and a fan, Snider explained what type of horror works for him. "Horror tends to fall on the line of magic and fantasy and supernatural stuff, where things just happen. And I don't like things to just happen," Snider said. "Things have to happen in a context that I understand and can follow, so I can go, 'Okay, you're playing by the rules' and can keep going. And Chaos! wasn't like that. It had no rules. It was Chaos! Comics and I think that stopped people like me, people who are story people, from getting involved in the comic. Visually they had all these great characters and things about those characters that were amazing, but they weren't really well put together storywise. They were chaotic fun. For people who enjoyed it, that was great. But I said we can have that chaotic fun and still have a really great structure and a really great story and some pathos and some character development that is meaningful, so when some of the horrible things happen, they actually mean something and it's not just gratuity."

Snider spoke on what influenced his version of Evil Ernie. "Our book is an answer to some of my problems with the book when I was growing up and it's also an answer to getting the Chaos! characters, like Evil Ernie, across to the mainstream audience," Snider said. "I think some of what the mainstream audience was missing from the Chaos! universe back in the day we are giving to the universe now. We've gotten really great reviews so far and it seems like people are saying we've done that. People who have never read Chaos! before, people who aren't big horror fans, are really enjoying the book; and that was really my goal."

Snider explained exactly what fans could expect when diving into this reincarnated Evil Ernie. "It's a dark book, it's a gory book," Snider said. "It's a horror comic but at the same time, there's a lot more going on and I think there's a little something for everyone, as long as you can get past the gore and shocks."

But Snider feels the gore is serving a purpose in Evil Ernie and it's there for more than just shock value. "Some people have commented on the book being gory, and occasionally we'll do some gore where we're just killing somebody," Snider said, "but for the most part, whenever we do something really heinous, it's story-driven. It's like, 'This is something Hell has chosen to do and it's something horrible because it should be horrible.' If Hell is getting into your life because they want to build a better killer, then they're going to do some terrible things to you."

Readers of Evil Ernie will quickly see what kind of terrible things are being done. Snider spoke about his views on horror and what gets under his skin. "I tend not to be scared very easily," Snider said. "I'm not very superstitious so movies like The Ring and even The Exorcist, possession stuff, they don't bother me because I don't believe in that stuff at all. There is no part of me that is nervous or scared of this stuff ever happening. However, there are things that scare me, like a mob for instance. A mob scares me because a mob could happen. Something crazy could go down and a bunch of people who are regular, free-thinking human beings could turn into crazy people. That's scary to me. So I need to go into the well of real human fears while I'm doing the supernatural stuff. But when it comes to the gore stuff, I do like the gore stuff, but it has to be varied. A bad slasher film just has the same kills over and over and over again, where a good slasher film is like, 'All right, how do we kill somebody this time?' And that seems to be the battle. If you're going to kill a bunch of people, how do you keep making it interesting? One of my favorite moments from Evil Ernie so far is in Issue #2, where we've got Ernie giving the middle finger and then he blasts a middle-finger-shaped hole through somebody's midsection. You've got to keep it interesting and show people things they haven't seen before."

Writer Jesse Snider Talks About Resurrecting Evil Ernie

Snider explained how the more he can relate horrific events to the reader's own experiences, the more effective they become. "You can either go for a little bit of fun with a little bit of creativity, but the best gory moments are the ones where you see whatever it is happening and you envision a moment in your life where that almost happened to you," Snider said. "It's the equivalent of someone getting his finger slammed in something ridiculous as opposed to something you can imaging like a finger slammed in a door. Then you're like, 'Oh man! Oh god…that's horrible.' It needs to elicit that primal fear of 'Oh no, I can totally imagine what that would feel like and that would be terrible.'"

Snider gave an example of exactly what he's talking about. "I'm friends with Adam Green and Joe Lynch, and I always enjoy Adam's Hatchet movies," Snider said. "While not everything is scary to me, I'm interested to see what's new. They're like, 'Oh, we've got a portable sanding machine…Great! That's a horrible way to kill somebody.' Because you've seen a sanding machine and you've gone, 'Oh, that would suck if I touched that.' When you can get into people's minds and prey, not on legitimate fears, but on things that are just like, 'I don't want to touch that,' or things that make people go, 'Oh!' There's definitely appeal for things like that, but it's a tricky game because you have to keep it interesting because it's easy for stuff like that to get boring as it goes on."

Snider enjoys different styles of horror and tries to bring them to Evil Ernie. "I'm a Godzilla guy, I'm a Lake Placid guy. And I like movies like Seven and Frailty, some of the darker, more rooted ones," Snider said. "But I tend to either go for super dark and rooted or more fun and ridiculous."

And Snider applies his horror preferences to his characters. "The evolution of Ernie, who I thought he was going to be and who he became while I was writing it, became two different things. I was trying to get away from the things I didn't like about the original book. There were lot of bad puns that weren't funny or cute, just silly. Basically, I wanted to take away the silliness. If we were going to do something, it had to be legitimately funny or legitimately scary and creepy, nothing in between."

As Snider worked with the character, Ernie evolved into something the writer didn't originally envision. "When I wrote the original thing, I planned on making Ernie more of a Frankenstein monster," Snider said. "He would be darker and more brooding and then Smiley would provide the color commentary. Then my editors and people who read and give me input, including my dad, he gives his take on the project, said, 'Who the hell is this smiley-faced button, why is he talking so much and why haven't we heard from Ernie about what he's going through? What does he think about this?' I realized that people gave a crap about Ernie after the first issue and really wanted to hear from him and I was doing a great disservice to this character by making him Frankenstein, because there was a good story beneath him and people wanted to hear more of it. So I went back through and tried to get a nice balance between Smiley having his place and Ernie being the lead of the book, which is where he should be."

Snider did his best to examine Ernie and take the character in a direction that someone who lived through those experiences would choose. "I really tried to get into his head," Snider said. "Ultimately, he's a kid. He went to jail at 13. What do you know at 13? You don't know anything. Even at 18 what do you know? People have to learn things on their own. People telling you the world is different shades of grey doesn't mean anything until you see it proved to you. And that's the hard lesson lots of young people learn. This first story arc really became about Ernie learning life is not black and white, but lots of shades of grey and that maybe he made the wrong decisions and jumped to a lot of conclusions and now he's got to live with that. And while that was present in the story I wanted to tell, I wasn't planning on getting it out there so clearly through Ernie. But once I had him opening his mouth and figuring out the right things to say…because he's still a kid so he'll say a little something kinda creepy or something he thinks is cool now and then because he feels righteous in what he's doing. And he is righteous. He's killing bad people. And you'll see more and more clearly that these people have been put in his path because they are evil. This is not him imagining anything. Hell is feeding him evil people so he can kill them. Ernie is Hell's one-man recruitment drive. But he doesn't know that. He thinks he's just making the world a better place. He thinks, 'I'm going to kill the bad people so the good people can have nice lives. And one day I'll die and go to Hell.' Because that's what he's chosen, to sacrifice himself for the good of mankind. He's a martyr. He's a good guy who's doing bad so everyone else can have nice lives."

The artist for Evil Ernie is Jason Craig, who has already produced some incredible work through the first two issues. "Jason Craig has been amazing," Snider said. "He was out of comics for a while and then he got into this. He read my script and he really fell in love with it. Thankfully. He and I have become great friends and we're working very closely on the book and every month he keeps turning the screws, trying to make it a little tighter, a little better. Jason has been going through some of the worst times of his life throughout the course of him drawing this book, and I think he's kind of funneled his frustrations into the book and it's so much better for it. The circumstances have not been great on his end, but they led to a really dark and wonderful bit of art from him, and I can't wait to see the rest of it."

That goes for us as well.

Exclusive: Co-Writer and Director Matt Mitchell Talks Gangsters, Guns and Zombies

0

With a title offering up pretty much anything you could want out of a horror/comedy/crime thriller hybrid, Gangsters, Guns and Zombies is the feature film debut from UK director Matt Mitchell which recently bowed on VOD.

Look for the flick to be arriving on DVD shelves everywhere on December 11th courtesy of XLrator Media.

Recently Dread Central chatted with Mitchell about his directorial bow and how another indie film inspired the concept of Gangsters, Guns and Zombies originally. We also heard about the up-and-coming filmmaker's experiences working on his no-budget horror comedy and more on his future projects as well.

Check out our exclusive interview with Mitchell below, and check out Gangsters, Guns and Zombies now that's out on select VOD platforms.

Dread Central: I really enjoyed this movie; the humor was fun, and it was definitely an ambitious movie to say the least. Can you start off by discussing where the idea for the story came from?

Matt Mitchell:Wow, thanks so much. So, this story was born out of a few things; just before this all happened, I was trying to get another feature up and running and my producer approached me about doing a no-budget indie feature film which I thought could be fun, but we didn't really know what we wanted to do a movie about at the time. Right around then, I was watching a featurette for another indie movie made over here [in the UK], and they said something like, "It was great to work on something that wasn't about gangsters, guns or zombies," and I just thought to myself, "Gangsters, guns and zombies? Now THAT sounds like a movie I'd want to watch." I just loved the idea of it; how could you go wrong? (laughs)

Dread Central: Because you knew going into this that you weren't going to have much of a budget, was that a huge consideration for you when you were writing the story? It still seems like you guys pulled off a lot for a little because of all the locales and everything.

Matt Mitchell:Well, I wrote it specifically for the budget, but of course there was a lot of crazy shit that got away from us, which makes things harder and can really screw up your budget, too. All I will say is that making this movie was a nightmare…or worse than that even, but regardless of what happens, you just have to keep going through all the bullshit. But I mean, for all the constant bullshit, we had so many people who just kept showing up every day because they were excited about getting this movie made.

We even had to do crowd-funding just to keep the movie going; it was so hard making this movie, man. But we used some of the footage we shot at the start to use as pitch videos for our campaign and we were really lucky because so many of our zombies on this were actually people who donated and wanted to come out and help us out even more. It was incredible, and the fact that every single person on this project was putting so much of themselves into it, I think that really elevated the end result. Everyone was so passionate about this movie, and that passion is what made this movie really work. I think I was just too dumb to realize when we started just how insane this shoot was going to be (laughs); I know now, though- especially for the next ones!

Dread Central: So were there things then that you had wanted in the movie but just never made it in because of budgetary constraints?

Matt Mitchell:Yeah, there were certain things we had to concede- for example, the scene with the knights in the woods was three days of shooting as it was written on the page, but because of what we could do logistically, we ended up shooting that scene in just a few hours, which meant we lost some stuff because of time. But overall I don't think it really hurt anything because the scene still works really well.

But what was most important to me, even back when I was working on the script, was that this had to have some heart to it- it couldn't just be another zombie movie; there had to be something more to it for this concept to work, and I think we deliver on that. My favorite movies are the ones that I can put on again and again and they have those golden moments of dialogue that makes it so fun for fans to watch again and again, and I think we have a few of those moments here.

Plus, having great actors always helps, and we had some truly great ones on this movie.

Dread Central: Let's talk about your cast then- how was it working with them on the movie?

Matt Mitchell:You know, we got really lucky with our cast; not only are they all fantastic actors, but they were all good people to be around during what ended up being a rather shitty ride, if you get what I mean. When you're making a movie like this, it's really important to have the right kind of people- not just actors, but the right people who know what they're getting into and they can hang, no matter what. Our actors really had to go the distance.

Dread Central: Looking back at your experiences making Gangsters, Guns and Zombies, what would you say is the biggest lesson you took away from it all?

Matt Mitchell:I would say- give yourself time and give everyone else time, too. Time is the essential element in making sure anything works the right way... the script, the performances, everything. If you plan for everything the right way and give everyone time to prepare the way they need to, it makes an insane shoot like ours go off with very few interruptions. Sure, we definitely faced our challenges, but preparation made all of us better equipped to handle those kinds of challenges.

My other advice would be always to write to your budget; we might have been a little too ambitious with the fights and action stuff we put into our script, and that's a lot of the moments we had to lose along the way because we just didn't have the budget to do those scenes the way we wanted to.

Dread Central: If this does well, would you like to do a follow-up to Gangsters, Guns and Zombies? Any projects coming up soon?

Matt Mitchell:I would love to do a sequel if we ever get the chance to; I would only hope that maybe we have a bit of a bigger budget the next time around, though, so that we can do a lot of the things we missed out on doing on this one. But right now I'm working on this horror comedy thriller project that's hopefully going to get started next year. It's going to be insane, and that's all I can say for now- insane!

Official Poster for A Haunted House Materializes

0
0

We've seen the image gallery and the trailer, and now finally we have a one-sheet for the latest upcoming Wayans parody A Haunted House. Honestly? It's okay, but man, is there room for improvement. Tell us what you think!

In the Wayans family tradition of successful movies like Scary Movie 1 & 2, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and, most recently, Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script for A Haunted House along with Rick Alvarez, who has produced several Wayans family movies.

Open Road Films will release A Haunted House– which stars Marlon Wayans, Cedric the Entertainer, David Koechner, Nick Swardson, and Essence Atkins – nationwide on January 11, 2013, pitting it directly against Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 5 release, which opens the same day.

Synopsis
In an outrageous send-up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other "found footage" movies, A Haunted House features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins), who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted; it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship… or, more importantly, his sex life.

Pedro Almodovar Snatching Up Bodies in the Sci-Fi Genre

Pedro Almodovar Snatching Up Bodies in the Sci-Fi GenreDirector Pedro Almodovar (The Skin I Live In) is ready to broaden his filmmaking horizons by dabbling in the science fiction genre, and while we don't even have a title yet, we do know which direction he'll be heading in.

Variety reports that Almodovar is planning to direct a sci-fi movie inspired by his love of 1950s pics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

"I am still young enough to make a science fiction movie. I have ideas for this genre," the Spanish helmer said Sunday. "The way I would like to do it is present something impossible in a real, domestic way. One of the scripts on my desk is of that genre so I hope to make that."

He admitted he didn't know how soon that would be. "I live with my stories for many years. I write more like a novelist than a screenwriter," he said.

Almodovar was speaking at BAFTA in London, where he delivered the annual David Lean Lecture, in which leading filmmakers discuss the influences on their career.

Exclusive: Tom Malloy to Star in Terror HouseBad things happen in haunted attractions. Girls cry. Scare actors sometimes get punched. And actor Tom Malloy’s set to be marauded by an unspeakable evil within the labyrinthine confines of Dark Park Studios' forthcoming feature Terror House.

To be directed by DK Renée, Terror House will feature Malloy (pictured; Alphabet Killer) and Brian Ronalds (Netherbeast Incorporated) and is slated to go before cameras shortly for a planned October 2013 release. Actors Barry Ratcliffe (The Witches of Oz) and Dianna Renée (No Time to Fear) join them. Michael Korbic and writer Dianna Renée are set to produce with Dark Park Studios.

Synopsis:
Set in a retired fun house with no way out, Terror House tells the story of a group of people who find themselves trapped in an abandoned ‘Haunted House’ attraction. As they put the pieces together to figure out why and how they got there, they run and stumble through the maze in a desperate attempt to escape the unknown force chasing them. As they succumb to the darkness of the maze, they begin to realize what connects them and that each one of them has something to hide. Paranoia sets in as their true selves emerge, turning them against each other in a deadly game of cat and mouse running from not only each other but the evil raging within the maze.

This isn’t the first time Malloy and Ronalds have worked together. The previous film they produced (and in which Malloy co-starred), Sprawl, just inked a theatrical deal with New Films International.

Dave O'Shea's Day Job Screening November 30th at the Another Hole in the Head Film Festival

Slow-building suspense/horror film Day Job is set to screen at SF IndieFest's Another Hole in the Head Film Festival at the Roxie Theatre in San Francisco, on Friday, November 30th, at 11 pm. Interested? Then read on for the details!

Written and directed by SF Bay Area artist, veteran cable repairman, and first-time filmmaker Dave O'Shea, Day Job is a uniquely intense horror film/character study about a lonely, substance-abusing cable man who becomes obsessed with an unhappily married young woman he meets while working in her home.

A difficult film to describe, Day Job is equal parts dark, character-driven drama, black comedy, suspenseful murder-mystery, and deeply depraved horror film rolled into one.. It simply must be experienced to be fully understood. After viewing it, you may never feel safe in your own home again.

O'Shea tells us, "It's strange, creepy, unapologetically mean-spirited, and seems to have quite an impact on the viewer. Incredibly, it won "Best Exploitation Film" and the coveted "Best Use of Violence/Gore" at last month's Pollygrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas, too!"

Synopsis:
After working in her home, a mysterious blue-collar worker with a dark past becomes obsessed with an unhappily married woman (Vanessa Guajardo). He and his roommate (veteran theater actor/former owner and mastermind of the infamous Ciao Bella Italian Restaurant in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Tad Matthew Morgan) set out to eliminate anything and anyone that would stand in the way of winning her affection.

From the Press Release:
In the not-too-distant past, with the help of a windowless van and a jar of chloroform, a group of Internet sketch comedians were hauled off to the backwoods of Illinois to shoot their first movie! The horror comedy features Streamy and Webby Award winner Michael Swaim (“Agents of Cracked”) and the casts of “Those Aren’t Muskets!,” “Good Neighbor,” “Tremendosaur,” “Team Tiger Awesome,” and “Horsehead Businessman.” The film will be released exclusively through Tugg this December, with cast-hosted premieres to take place in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Diego.

Kill Me Now chronicles one unforgettable night in the lives of a ragtag group of small-town teens. It's a night that will prove equally unforgettable for the sinister Driller Killer (Brett Fancy – “EastEnders,” “Luther”), a deranged serial killer bent on ridding the world of vapidity and dumbassedness (everyone else). When he comes upon the kids' all-night graduation party--conveniently held at a cabin deep in the woods--he finds both in spades. Unfortunately, Mr. Killer is about to learn something crappy bumper stickers learned long ago: stupid people can be deadly in large numbers. Kill Me Now blends horror, comedy, depth and plain jackassery to form a brew so potent you won't know whether to laugh, scream, or think about, like, life and stuff. The movie features performances from a staggering array of the Internet's hottest up-and-coming comedians, writing from the guys behind “Those Aren't Muskets!” and Cracked.com, direction from a dude whose previous work includes hardcore, joint-smokin', Twista-havin', Kanye-featurin' rap videos, and at least one scene where a chick totally gets a drill to the brain. But it's funny!

Written by Michael Swaim and directed by Travis Long, Kill Me Now was filmed on location in Effingham, Illinois, and stars Michael Swaim, Brett Fancy, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, Nick Rutherford, Jacob Reed, LisaMarie King, Brentan Schellenbach, Nick Mundy, Kaitlin Large, Dan Rubiano, Noah Byrne, Katy Stoll, Katie Willert and Daniel O'Brien.

Moderncine Finalizes Cast and Begins Production on All Cheerleaders Die

Caitlin Stasey; Moderncine Finalizes Cast and Begins Production on All Cheerleaders DieModernciné has finalized the cast for and is set to begin production on All Cheerleaders Die, a high school-set supernatural thriller written and directed by Lucky McKee (May, The Woman) and Chris Sivertson (The Lost, I Know Who Killed Me).

The film is produced by Andrew van den Houten (Funeral Kings, The Woman) and Robert Tonino (The Woman, In the Family); stars Caitlin Stasey (pictured; Tomorrow, When the War Began; I, Frankenstein) and Sianoa Smit-McPhee (“Hung”); and introduces Tom Williamson. Executive producing is Arrien Schiltkamp with Russell Dinstein on board as co-executive producer. The film is scheduled for a production start date of November 26th in Los Angeles.

This is the second collaboration between McKee and Modernciné, who worked together previously on the thriller The Woman; Cheerleaders marks the first time Sivertson will work with the company. All Cheerleaders Die is actually a reimagining of a video project McKee and Sivertson wrote and shot immediately after graduating from USC Film School some ten years ago. Since then, both have gone on to successful solo directing careers.

“All Cheerleaders Die is leading us into the exciting world of popcorn fare, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have the creative freedom that a company like Modernciné provides for writer/directors. This is going to be a thrill-packed extravaganza with a hot young cast to die for,” said McKee and Sivertson.

“Working on my first collaboration with Mr. Sivertson and second feature with Mr. McKee is an honor and real opportunity to promote the artist-driven approach I believe in. It’s what Modernciné is all about. Everything begins and ends with the directors’ vision, and with that approach originality and timeless entertainment is born,” said van den Houten.

Synopsis:
Mäddy Killian is a 17-year-old rebel at Blackfoot High School on a mission to take down the captain of the football team. She rallies a group of cheerleaders around her cause, but after a tragic turn of events the girls are thrust into a supernatural battle that culminates in a mayhem-filled night they will never forget.
