Synopsis
Six private school high school kids find themselves stuck in detention on a frightfully dark and stormy Saturday afternoon. During their eight-hour incarceration, each of the six kids falls victim to a horrible "accident" until only one of them remains. And as each of these spoiled rich kids bites the dust, the story takes on a series of humorous and frantic twists and turns. Is one of the kids secretly evening the school's social playing field? Or have the ghosts of prestigious Crestview Academy finally come to punish the school's worst (and seemingly untouchable) brats? One thing is for sure... Daddy's money can't save them now.

We've been a fan of actor Timothy Olyphant for years now, from Scream 2 to Go to "Deadwood" to "Justified," and now we're looking forward to seeing what he brings to the horror-western-cannibal tale Bone Tomahawk.

Per Deadline, Olyphant is set to star opposite Kurt Russell, Peter Sarsgaard, Richard Jenkins, and Jennifer Carpenter in the feature directorial debut of S. Craig Zahler. Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller are producing through their Caliber Media Co. banner. Production is slated for a spring 2013 start in New Mexico.

In Bone Tomahawk four men attempt to rescue a group of captives (including Carpenter) from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes that live beyond the edge of civilization. Olyphant will play John Brooder, an eloquent sharpshooter who moved to the frontier in order to satisfy the dark impulses that lie beneath his polished exterior. Russell plays a sheriff with Jenkins as a world-weary elder and Sarsgaard as a cowboy.

A&E Network and executive producer Carlton Cuse are letting fans have a say in the creation of the new series "Bates Motel," which premieres in March 2013. Cuse is asking the public for their help in creating the 15-second opening title sequence for the series as part of a Facebook contest for fans.

The contest begins today, December 5th, on the "Bates Motel" Facebook page and runs through Thursday, January 3rd.

"We want to give fans the chance to participate in the show,"said Cuse. "We're looking for an awesome 15-second title sequence that captures the feel of Bates Motel -- not as a slasher/horror show, but as a complex, character-based thriller."

The title sequence contest will live on Facebook, and all entries will require fans to submit their visual idea via a 15-second video submission. Cuse will judge the submissions and ultimately choose the idea that best represents the mood, tone, and overall feel of the series. The prize will be $2,500 and the possibility that the winner’s idea will be brought to life as the title sequence of "Bates Motel."

"Bates Motel," starring Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho where fans will find a teenage Norman Bates and his beautiful mother, Norma, at the start of their journey as the owners of the famed Bates Motel.

Traditionally known as walkers, pus-brain bags of shit, etc., everyone knows that for the most part zombies can be counted amongst the dullest tools in the shed. The scarier part? Live thinking humans can exhibit far less brain power than the instinct-driven shamblers.

Case in point: A Williston Park man, whom police said shot his girlfriend in the back with a rifle Monday after a heated argument over the television show "The Walking Dead," told authorities he was annoyed that she came to his apartment to smooth things over.

In a statement to police, Jared M. Gurman, 26, said he told his girlfriend, Jessica Gelderman, 27, also of Williston Park, to leave. "Jess walked into the room, and I fired the gun once and hit her," Gurman said. "She said, 'Oh my God. What did you do?'"

A single round from a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle pierced Gelderman's lung and diaphragm and shattered her ribs, said Nassau Det. Lt. Raymond Cote, commander of the Third Squad. Thankfully, as of late Tuesday, police said Gelderman was in stable condition with the bullet still in her body.

Gurman and Gelderman, who had been dating for 3-1/2 years, went out Sunday night when they began arguing about the show, an AMC thriller featuring zombies in a post-apocalyptic world, said Nassau Det. Lt. Raymond Cote, commander of the Third Squad.

"I just know that he felt very adamant that there could be some type of military mishap that would result in some sort of virus or something being released that could cause terrible things to happen,"Cote said.

Gelderman, Cote said, thought her boyfriend's belief was absurd. "She felt that it was ridiculous," Cote added.

The funny thing? Even if there were a zombie apocalypse, this idiot would be spared as he's obviously brainless.

You would think that a movie called American Mary (review) would have found distro in America a lot sooner, but no. Well! That wrong has been righted.

Capcom will be releasing new add-on content for Resident Evil 6 on December 18th for Xbox 360. Gamers will be able to buy new modes individually or as a bundle for 720 MS Points. Fans will get three new bloody modes that include Predator, Survivors and Onslaught.

Survivors takes the classic solo and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Onslaught sees two players go head-to-head in an attempt to clear waves of oncoming enemies. Chaining combos provides the key to success in Onslaught as this will send enemies over to the opponent’s screen, the more that are sent over, the quicker the victory will be.

Those of us who were around back in the Sixties vividly remember the story of the Boston Strangler, but if you were born later, perhaps you've seen the film version starring Tony Curtis. If not, don't worry; a new thriller about the desperate search for the murderer who terrorized the Boston area is coming our way thanks to Warner Bros.

Per Deadline, Kevin McCormick’s Warner-based Langley Park shingle will produce, and the pitch was bought from Casey Affleck and fellow Boston native screenwriter Chuck Maclean. Affleck hopes to star as one of the detectives who were part of the "Strangler Squad" responsible for solving the crime, and he will be exec producer.

The script will be written by Maclean with a tone similar to Se7en and Zodiac and will cover the most haunting unsolved serial murder story in U.S. history. The movie follows an ambitious detective who is willing to risk career and life in a race to bring down the most notorious sexual predator of the day, while battling a political cover-up by corrupt politicians and lawyers trying to save their careers.

Aside from “Lost” ABC doesn’t exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to TV shows with a supernatural bent. The Disney-owned network hopes to change that this coming summer with a new paranormal procedural with the peculiar title “Weird Desk”.

Deadline reports that ABC has ordered 13 episodes – forget the pilot, this is going straight to series – of an "X-Files"-ish new series entitled “Weird Desk” from “Stargate” TV scribe Carl Binder and David Titcher, writer of TNT’s The Librarian teleplays.

Based on the alleged real-life mysteries from this world and beyond, it centers on the workings of a clandestine organization rumored to be named “Weird Desk.” Working above the levels of top secret and above the office of the President, the unit is the destination for mysterious intelligence rerouted from the CIA and NSA. Tasked with investigating and solving occurrences of the paranormal, supernatural and sometimes extra-terrestrial, “Weird Desk” is led by Morgan, an obstinate, socially inept and brilliant man who would now be dead if it weren’t for his special forces trained partner, Rosetta.

So it’s basically “The X-Files” if Fox Mulder was more like a nerdy “Sherlock” and Dana Scully specialized in martial arts and firearms instead of medicine? As long as it’s better than the last time ABC attempted to clone “The X-Files” with that godawful name-only reboot of “Kolchak the Night Stalker”.

Canadian production company Shaftesbury will produce the series set to premiere on ABC sometime in the summer of 2013. Expect casting news shortly after the new year.
I’m going to go ahead and speculate the show will be cancelled by fall because I just have a hard time imagining a show called “Weird Desk” being something that stays on the air longer than six episodes.

Here's how Erickson, a Toronto-based illustrator and graphic designer, describes the Issue #3 cover's creation:

IDEAS:
- By this point in the project, I was given a rough outline of the series plot-line and wanted to play with Eben's newly turned rabble of vampires overwhelming Cal. Fun fact: This particular concept was originally pitched as a cover for Book 2 in the series but was chosen as the Book 3 cover instead.

SKETCH:
- As with the first cover in the series, once a concept is approved, a rough drawing is produced to act as the framework for the illustration. I literally use the rough thumbnail sketch, blow it up in Photoshop and redraw it to preserve the composition.

ILLUSTRATION #1:
- I decided to carry most of the same colour scheme throughout each cover in the series to create a sense of unity in the series, so I again used blues and mute greens for Cal the ghoul and red to portray the fire-starting vampires.

ILLUSTRATION #2:
- Once Cal is completed, then I begin work on each individual vampire face. All the while I'm tweaking specific colours and revisiting areas to improve them.

FINAL COVER:
- Now that I'm happy with the final illustration, I apply the final textures and typography, and we're done!

Issue #3 Synopsis:
Eben Olemaun is on the hunt, and he'll rip both human and vampire limb from limb to get to the person who took everything from him--Federal Agent Alice Blood. Can Cal fight off the hordes of new vampires in time to save her?

Pan's Labyrinth being retooled as a musical for the stage? Yes, you read that correctly. Normally we'd be bitching and moaning about it; however, this project has something going for it... one Guillermo del Toro.

Deadline reports that the 2006 Guillermo del Toro-directed film, about the young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer who finds refuge and terror in a fantasy world in 1944 Fascist Spain, is taking shape as a stage musical. The stage version already has a book that has been written by del Toro and Jeremy Ungar. Paul Williams has just been signed to write the lyrics. Gustavo Santaolalla, who twice won Oscars for composing the scores for Brokeback Mountain and Babel, is writing the music. Robert Fox is producing with del Toro and Gary Ungar.

Del Toro has been working quietly on this for four years, interviewing directors, librettists and composers. Del Toro, Williams and Santaolalla are also working on songs for the animated Reel FX film Day of the Dead, which is in advanced stages of production.

“I admire and love Gustavo, and Paul wrote the perfect album in Phantom of the Paradise, which I have loved for decades,” said del Toro, who just wrapped Pacific Rim for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. and who’ll next direct the haunted house tale Crimson Peak for Legendary.

Said Santaolalla: “I’m so excited about translating Guillermo’s magical vision into music and songs. I’m such a longtime fan of both Guillermo and Paul that to work on this with them is truly a dream come true.”

Fox, the London-based producer whose credits include everything from The Boy from Oz, The Pillowman, Frost/Nixon to Burn This and Gypsy, has set as general managers Bespoke Theatrical’s Nina Lannan and Maggie Brohn.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Guillermo and the terrific creative team that we have put together to bring the wonderful film of Pan’s Labyrinth to the stage as a musical,” Fox said.
