Following last night's episode, "Supernatural" has gone on its holiday hiatus and will return with all-new episodes on January 16, 2013. In the meantime here's a little preview of what's coming in Episode 8.10, "Torn and Frayed."

The CW hasn't revealed the synopsis yet, but any episode with both Castiel and Crowley in it is aces in our book! Look for the details soon.

Wardrobe can be a key component in the success or failure of a film, and that's especially true in a project like Beautiful Creatures. Check out this video chat with Jeffrey Kurland, who had the immense task of capturing the physical essence of the film's "extraordinary" characters through their costumes.

"It was an interesting job to say the least,"Kurland tells MTV. "The characters are extraordinary because they range in emotion, not just in their physicality, but in their emotion. They exude a presence that I needed to capture physically on screen."

The story is set primarily in contemporary times, but the Gothic tale borrows heavily from the past, wardrobe included. "As far as what costumes say, they tell a story,"Kurland adds. "They tell a visual story. This is just a sampling but by no means [all] you're going to see when you see the movie. Hopefully you will enjoy that."

If there's a more genre-friendly producer than Gale Anne Hurd, I've never heard of them. From countless forays into big screen horror and sci-fi to the rousing success of television's "The Walking Dead," Hurd has had plenty of success exploring the dark side of those mediums. And thankfully, she's not done yet.

Hurd will produce "Horizon", a science fiction series for the USA Network.

According to Deadline, "Horizon" centers on a secretary at the FBI who discovers that her husband might have been killed in a battle with a spaceship in the South Pacific. Obsessed with learning the truth, she becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion. Bridget Tyler ("Burn Notice") wrote the script and will co-executive produce for Universal Cable Prods. and Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment, which has a deal at the studio. “'Horizon' is our first genre piece since 'The 4400' and the first ever period drama for the network,” said USA Network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber. “This signals the next step in the evolution of our programming brand.”

USA has had some success with sci-fi in the past, having produced the fan favorite "The 4400" in 2004 (trailer below). Keep watching this space. We'll bring you more on "Horizon" as we have it.

As our wheels cool after eight kick-ass episodes of "The Walking Dead," we find ourselves in that limbo between the mid-season finale and the start of the second half of season… the undead zone. Here's a little something to tide you over for a while.

NARR8 announced that famed science fiction and fantasy writer Vadim Panov is joining NARR8 to create a new series adapted from his popular Russian fantasy novel series The Secret City. NARR8 is a free application available worldwide for the iPad and iPad Mini that delivers fresh episodic series in the form of motion comics, interactive novels, and nonfiction articles. Best known for his work on The Secret City, Panov has sold over five million books and won the prestigious Fantasy Writer of the Year bestseller award twice at RosCon, the largest event for fantasy writers and literary agents presented by leading Russian publishing house Exmo.

"When I was faced with the prospect of working with NARR8, I was thrilled. The idea of the platform is unique as it combines the growing and dynamic digital content space with books and comics. We keep hearing about the fiscal cliff in the news, but for genre fans it’s looking more and more like 2013 will require major budget compromises to pay for all the classic/cult horror coming to Blu-ray. Add Brian De Palma’s The Fury to your Blu-ray budget-busting list next year.

Twilight Time has announced plans to release De Palma’s 1978 telekinetic thriller The Fury on Blu-ray March 12th. Featuring John Cassavetes, Carrie Snodgrass, Charles Durning, Amy Irving, and Andrew Stevens, The Fury stars Kirk Douglas as an ex-CIA agent out to rescue his son (Stevens) from an unscrupulous government agent (Cassavetes) who kidnaps people with psychic powers and trains them to be assassins.

There's no artwork, disc specs, or even a suggested retail price just yet, but we do know the film will be presented in its original 1.85:1 and the disc printing will be limited to just 3,000 copies.

Most family vacations... well... they suck. The odds of everyone being completely happy with a chosen destination or idea is pretty slim. That being said, a little death and terror can go a long way in terms of livening things up.

Variety reports that Paramount has decided to go on a Family Vacation, buying Eric Reese's thriller spec script and setting it up with Daniel Dubiecki's Allegiance Theater to produce through the Paramount Insurge label.

The logline is under wraps other than the story centering on a family going on vacation. Not exactly sure how Dread-worthy this will end up, but we'll keep an eye on things. If it's warranted, look for more soon!

It's on again, it's off again. Bill Murray is not in the cast, Bill Murray is in the cast, Bill Murray is out of the cast. Such has been the constant flux that is the making of Ghostbusters III, but star/producer Dan Aykroyd says it's time to make it or move on.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Aykroyd was quite clear that if things don't happen soon, he will be off the Sony project. He also included some comments about potential Ghostbusters III co-star Bill Murray that some might consider inflammatory. "Well, let me say this: Had Billy chosen to do the Eisenberg/Stupnitsky script of two years ago, it would be out this summer, and it would be a massive hit," Aykroyd said. "If Billy had said yes, it would have satisfied his performance and what he wanted in the movie, it would have satisfied his performing skill and how he wanted to be depicted in the movie, it would have satisfied the studio, the writers who wrote it, everybody… Ivan (Reitman, director), me, Harold (Ramis), we were all happy with it. Then when he said, 'Absolutely not, I'm not in this,' we had to go and really rethink things. He abrogated his say in the project, abrogated his rights to have any say in it by refusing the third offer from the picture company, which his lawyer put before him, and Billy said, 'No, I can't respond.' Now we have to move on, but we'll always leave a hole for him. He's always there. He can always come back at any time and be rebuilt into it, as far as I'm concerned. That's up to his lawyer and the picture company to work out, but creatively, he will always be a part of it."

Aykroyd made it quite clear that Sony would be missing out on a lucrative film if he and the other main players walk away. "Now, this would add quite a bump to Sony's bottom line, quite a bump. If they make this movie, in its current shape, they would be looking at a pretty hefty, nine-figure return," Aykroyd said. "So I'm hoping they get on to move it, but if they don't, I have multiple trains. I've got tracks six, seven, and nine, and that's four. I'll be moving on to other things, as will Ivan, by the way. We can't wait forever. And now's the time to tell the picture company, and I'd say this quite publicly, it's time now to sit down and make this movie, or you will lose your main principals, and you won't be able to make it without us, because we have rights, and now is the time to make the movie...You don't take advantage of that in the next three or four months, I'll see you in Australia, where we'll be selling Crystal Head." That last bit is, of course, a reference to Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka. Yummo!

Judging by the sound of things, a quality screenplay is done and ready to roll. "I've worked on every draft in the last three years, as Ivan has, and now we have a story and a draft that everybody seems to agree would make the third movie," Aykroyd said. He also addressed a previous version which was written by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (writers for "The Office"), "You know, they did great work. There will be arbitration on it. And I hope that the arbitration may yield some kind of credit for them, but I don't know what the final, final draft is gonna be. That's to be determined." Okay, so maybe not exactly completely ready to roll.

And in true cart-before-the-horse Hollywood fashion, plans are already in place for sequels (that's right…plural) should Ghostbusters III get done, one entitled Man-hell-ttan. "Man-hell-ttan, and the Ghostbusters in hell, would be so solid, but we gotta get maybe one or two made before that," Aykroyd said. "But, oh wow, I wrote that with Tom Davis, my writing partner, recently deceased, who wrote Coneheads with me and stuff on "Saturday Night Live." There's classic Tom Davis lines and funny stuff in there, really it's probably the most humorous of all the Ghostbusters scripts that have generated in that last little while. But we'll put the humor into this next one. It's gotta be funny, or it's not worth doing. It can be scary, it can be Ghostbusters, it can be the new franchise, the new people, but if it's not funny... Wait a minute, it started as a comedy. Let's make sure there's laughs and no laugh unturned and that we really make that our priority, to make it funny and exciting, but mainly funny."

Time will tell if they'll make it at all.

A damn dirty ape he may be, but Caesar is also a damn personable one… and that's thanks, of course, to the wonderful motion-capture acting work of the incomparable Andy Serkis. On a brief break from promoting The Hobbit, Serkis took a moment to speak about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

In an interview with Coming Soon, Serkis reports that he has already met with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), and the project is slated to begin toward the end of the first quarter of 2013.

Serkis also gave a bit of a teaser as to what audiences can expect from Dawn, the sequel to the 2011 hit film Rise of the Planet of the Apes. "The interesting thing now will be how Caesar operates in this world, because of the virus that hits at the end of the first movie, and how Caesar brings an accord between the apes and the surviving humans; and that's going to be interesting where we take that,"Serkis said.

Serkis also reports that they've done pre-testing for some of the Apes characters at his own performance capture studio, The Imaginarium, which is a division of Ealing Studios in London. The first major project planned for Serkis' studio is a version of George Orwell's Animal Farm, which is currently in pre-production.

Mid-season finales with big, dramatic cliffhangers are all the rage right now, and next week it's "The Vampire Diaries"' turn in Episode 4.09, "O Come, All Ye Faithful." Does Klaus possess the cure after all?

Synopsis
This metaphor for the Soskas' own journey through the independent film industry follows medical student Mary Mason (Isabelle) as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted. The allure of easy money sends Mary into the twilight world of body modification and underground surgeries where obsessed flesh artists will pay anything and go through any pain to get their unusual procedures done. But Mary soon finds that her new "profession" leaves more marks on her own psyche than on her freakish clientele.

More casting news for the long talked about flick Prisoners has come our way via Deadline. It's gonna be hard inside for a pimp as the great Terrence Howard has joined the already impressive cast.

Alcon Entertainment's Prisoners stars Hugh Jackman, Melissa Leo, Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, and Paul Dano.

Denis Villeneuve (Incendies) directs. Written by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband), the story revolves around a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands but in the process runs up against Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal), a hotshot cop with confidence to burn, assigned to the case.

Two new images have arrived in support of the upcoming direct sequel to the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, entitled Texas Chainsaw 3D (as if you didn't know), and this time the spotlight is on two of the flick's leading lovelies.

Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the "Big H Radio Team". A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, "a gift from the Lords". She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords' record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later Whitey plays the Lords' record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they're out for BLOOD.

It's been months since we last heard any news about Lulu Jarmen's ultra gory contagion horror film Bad Meat, but finally word has come that it will be released in the US and Canada by MVD with a street date of February 19, 2013.

Starring Dave Franco (21 Jump Street), Elisabeth Harnois (Mars Needs Moms) Jessica Parker-Kennedy ("The Secret Circle"), and Mark Pellegrino ("Supernatural"), Bad Meat premiered at London's FrightFest before screenings at Razor Reel in Belgium and Fancine in Spain.

Synopsis:
Bad Meat tells the story of a group of teenage delinquents who contract a deadly virus after being ordered to a remote camp for rehabilitation. Compared to Eli Roth's Cabin Fever and Michal J. Bassett's Wilderness, Bad Meat trades in all manner of bodily fluids, puking perverts, a graphic dog dissection, amateur stomach-pumping, chewed body parts, and ripped-off genitals.

If there's any one reason to tune in to "American Horror Story," it's without question Jessica Lange's incredible performance. There's no doubt she's come a long way since sitting in Kong's paw back in the Seventies. So is she down for a third season of madness and mayhem?

According to the National Examiner, though FX announced that Lange is sticking with "American Horror Story" for Chapter Three, she has admitted that the extent of her involvement still depends on the specifics of the storyline and the character. She has yet to have time to really give thought to what she'd want to do next season.

Given that it's still early, this isn't exactly an earth-shaking news story, but it is what it is. Stay tuned for more.

Here at Dread Central we have a special spot in our hearts for the truly black comedy Death Becomes Her. I mean, what was not to like? Hot chicks! Bruce Willis! Cadaverous comedy! Well, a lot of those same elements will be heading back to the small screen soon!

According to Variety, twenty years after the theatrical debut of the film, Bravo and the movie's helmer, Robert Zemeckis, have begun eyeing a small screen adaptation. Zemeckis is on board to exec produce the hourlong drama project along with Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine, though a writer has yet to be tapped.

The TV version of "Death Becomes Her" will be produced by Universal Cable Prods. and Lupara Prods. Universal released the film in 1992, and by airing on Bravo, the cable adaptation will remain in the NBCUniversal family. "Death Becomes Her" centers on two rival women who both attain eternal youth.
