Capcom has announced that DmC Devil May Cry will be available for download via Windows PC on January 25, 2013. Users who download the title from Steam will have the added features of Cloud saving, achievements, friends support and leaderboards!

Capcom today confirmed that DmC Devil May Cry will be available for digital download for Windows PC on January 25, 2013. Developed by QLOC S.A. for Windows PC, DmC Devil May Cry will include full AMD support, including AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology and AMD CrossFire technology. These technologies allow gamers to harness the power of two or more graphics cards reinforcing the stunning visuals of the game and dramatically increase the game’s performance. With Len Wiseman handling a new version of The Mummy for Universal, there are lots of questions floating around as to exactly what type of flick it will turn out to be. Will it have anything to do with the Brendan Fraser series? Will it be more of a family adventure? Some answers have come...

...and we like them!

Movieweb caught up with Wiseman, who had this to say about the upcoming flick...

"There was skepticism. The difference between the two, if The Mummy is to be the next movie for me, is that The Mummy is a completely different film. It is a modern day take. It doesn't have anything to do with the Brendan Fraser films, and it is not a remake of any kind.

"The Mummy is one of Universal's long standing, iconic characters, well before the Brendan Fraser movies," Wiseman continues. "This is such a different thing. What was attractive to me... There is still a script to be written, and all of that... But the pitch was to go with a much different tone. It was a Mummy like I'd never heard of before. It's nothing like what you would expect, at all, oddly. I was picturing Egypt and the sand-swept settings. The mummy wrappings. When I heard what they were wanting to actually do with it, it was shocking..."

As for what type of direction he wants to go in genre-wise....

"It's horror. It's epic. It's more of a modern day version of what would happen if we came across a mummy in our world today. It is pretty fascinating."

Hallelujah!

Original Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts will pen this new version of The Mummy franchise, which Sean Daniel will return to produce. "I see it as the sort of opportunity I had with 'Prometheus': to go back to a franchise's roots in dark, scary source material and simultaneously open it up to an epic scale we haven't seen before," Spaihts said in an earlier interview.

Sounds like everyone's on the right track.

"The Vampire Diaries" is on hiatus until January 17th, and while we don't have an official synopsis yet for Episode 4,10, entitled "After School Special," we do know one thing: Rebekah's back, and if anyone can breathe a bit of life into this tepid season, it's the wonderful Claire Holt.

The Wolves of Midwinter will be my next published book, coming out in October of 2013. It's a sequel to The Wolf Gift, focusing on how Reuben and the Morphenkinder of Nideck Point celebrate Christmas with their human neighbors and loved ones, and how they celebrate their own secret Yuletide rituals deep in the Nideck forest. New characters, new secrets, new mysteries will be revealed. It's a pleasure to be able to announce the book.

We were pretty big fans of The Wolf Gift (review here) so are anxious to see where she takes the character of Reuben Golding, the man-wolf hero of the tale, especially since we'll be seeing more of the Morphenkinder. Although having to wait until next October won't be much fun.

Ever since Fox passed on David Cronenberg's script for a new film in The Fly franchise, the director has remained tight-lipped about the project, stating only that “I wrote a script, and at the moment Fox is not wanting to do the project.” That changes now.

IndieWire caught up with Cronenberg, who had the following details to add to his initial statement. “It wasn’t really a remake; it was more of a sequel or a sidebar. It was a meditation on fly-ness. None of the same characters or anything and, of course, with an understanding of modern technology. It was something I was very pleased with, and it was a disappointment not to get it made… Again it was a budget problem, basically.”

Come on, Fox! Get with the program already!

The British horror anthology Bloody Cuts has wowed us with the first six short films of the project, which have been released over the past two years. This week they unveiled the seventh chapter of their nightmarish collection: Death Scenes. See it right here, right now.

Now this is pretty damned cool. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is currently hosting The Stanley Kubrick Exhibit, and one lucky visitor to the event came back with a series of images detailing rejected art designs for The Shining complete with handwritten rejection notes by Kubrick.

As per the user who provided these images, The Fox is Black - “One of the coolest parts, especially for a designer like myself, was these sketches by Saul Bass for the film poster of The Shining. Previously I had no idea that Saul Bass had created the original poster so this was a really cool surprise. I’ve read online that Kubrick made Bass go through at least 300 versions of the poster until finally ending on the extremely alien looking version we now know.”

MGM and Screen Gems’ CARRIE is directed by Kim Peirce and produced by Kevin Misher (Public Enemies). J. Miles Dale (The Vow) serves as executive producer, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Big Love) wrote the script from King’s original story. CARRIE’s creative team includes Director of Photography Steve Yedlin (Looper), Production Designer Carol Spier (Eastern Promises), Costume Designer Luis Sequeira (The Thing), and Editor Lee Percy (Boys Don’t Cry).

Bradley Scott Sullivan's slasher flick I Didn't Come Here to Die stars Emmy Robbin, Niko Red Star, Indiana Adams, and Kurt Cole. Look for the flick on DVD and VOD on January 15, 2013.

The movie features a cast of talented newcomers and tells the story of six young volunteers working on a humanitarian project in the remote wilderness where horrific accidents, rash decisions, and the unpredictability of human nature lead them all to the same disturbing conclusion: that volunteer work can be a KILLER.
