The first behind-the-scenes image of Joel Courtney and Chandler Riggs in the latest Stephen King adpatation, Mercy, has hit the interwebs courtesy of Blumhouse Productions' Facebook page, and we have a look at it right here. Dig it!

The flick, from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions, stars Dylan McDermott, Frances O'Connor, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight and Chris Browning.

Peter Cornwell is directing this adaptation of the Stephen King short story from his Skeleton Crew novel from a script by Matt Greenberg. Jason Blum will produce with McG and Mary Viola from Wonderland Sound and Vision.

The story follows two young boys who go with their single mother (O’Connor) to take care of their elderly, senile grandmother named Mercy, only to discover that she's a witch who made a pact with a dark force many years before.

Lionsgate is a company that, like many before it, built itself on the horror genre. Now that the company has grown exponentially, they've decided to take a bit of a look back at their results and as a result are building out a new low-budget genre arm.

According to Variety, Lionsgate has signaled strong support for its micro-budget feature division with longtime production executive John Sacchi tapped to head the operation. The studio is aiming to replicate the success of Paramount Insurge, formed in the wake of the outsize success of producer Jason Blum's Paramormal Activity. Insurge's The Devil Inside grossed more than $100 million worldwide last year at a cost of only $1 million.

Sacchi has a long track record in supervising Lionsgate films with exec producer credits on My Bloody Valentine, Punisher: War Zone and The Possession, which grossed nearly $80 million last year. The micro-budget arm is understood to be seeking horror and comedy projects with a pricetag of up to $2.5 million.

You knew it had to happen. Last year's hit anthology horror film V/H/S will soon be available…wait for it… on VHS format here in the US. And with the sequel S-V/H/S, premiering at Sundance this weekend, the announcement couldn't have happened at a better time.

Synopsis

Sooner or later every single movie that we know and love will most likely be remade, rehashed, rebooted, sequelized and prequelized. There's just no getting around it. Tonight word of a Gremlins reboot began floating around once again.

According to New York Magazine's Vulture, Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to reboot the 1984 horror comedy Gremlins, which was originally directed by Joe Dante. These talks have sprouted up several times over the years but for one reason or another never came to fruition. What makes this time any different? The site explains their sources tell them that it might just actually come off this time.

Either way, we wouldn't be surprised if once again this idea is shot down, but this is Hollyweird, man. Anything could happen. Stay tuned.

Blumhouse Productions is quickly become a supernatural force to be reckoned with, and we love them for it. Here's a company run by people who make no bones about their love for horror movies, and at this year's Sundance Film Festival they've scooped up another!

Deadline reports that Blumhouse has acquired Peachfuzz from producers Mark and Jay Duplass and directed by first-timer Patrick Brice. The plot is mostly under wraps but follows a man who answers a Craigslist ad with unexpected results; Mark Duplass co-wrote the script and also stars. The deal closed yesterday at Sundance ahead of the film festival that starts today.

Now that the rights to the Terminator franchise are no longer an issue, it's time for everyone to get back to business and hopefully bring us The Terminator sequel we've all been wanting since the second installment.

According to Deadline, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have set Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine 3D) to script the next installment of The Terminator franchise.

Will Arnold Schwarzenegger be back? It's a good bet! Will the Terminators in this movie actually spend some time terminating people and not rounding them up for some half-baked reason to add needless exposition in between the nonsensical action set pieces? We can only hope.

Capcom's Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will release on March 19, 2013 for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Players will be able to pick up the free demo which will be available for download on February 21st. Read on to learn more and to check out the killer new trailer!

Capcom today confirmed that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U system and Nintendo 3DS will bring the battle to retail stores in North America on March 19, 2013 and across Europe on March 22, 2013. The full game will also be offered for digital purchase on both systems during this launch timeframe and the Wii U game will fully support the voice chat functionality available on that system. For hunters looking to embark on their journeys sooner, free playable demos on the Wii U system and Nintendo 3DS will be available on February 21.

In Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, players take on the role of a hunter sent to explore a settlement within the Monster Hunter universe, completing quests on their journey to seek and slay monsters while improving their skills and earning equipment upgrades. After facing the likes of King Ghidorah, Rodan, Hedorah, Titanosaurus, and Mothra in every possible guise complete with tiny Japanese fairies, it kind of figures that Godzilla's greatest battle would take place in a courtroom.

Deadline reports producers Roy Lee, Dan Lin, and Doug Davison today launched their own lawsuit in the escalating legal war over the Godzilla reboot by filing a suit against Legendary Pictures in LA Superior Court on Thursday, with the cross-complaint alleging breach of contract among other counts. Seeking a jury trial and millions in damages, this latest legal action also names fellow Godzilla producer and Legendary President/CCO Jon Jashni as a defendant. Legendary’s Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull was not named in the suit. Today’s action comes in response to Legendary’s suit earlier this month to have Lee and Lin and fellow producer Davison removed from the movie with a $25,000 payout.

The second clip from the upcoming and ludicrously titled terror tale The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (formerly The Haunting in Georgia) has hit the Net, and we have it for you right here courtesy of EW. Dig it!

Just to clear up some confusion, the film is not a continuation of the storyline of the original The Haunting in Connecticut. Instead it's a companion piece to it. Both stories were turned into films from cases first documented in the popular TV series "A Haunting."

Look for The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (formerly The Haunting in Georgia), directed by Tom Elkins, to be getting a limited theatrical release along with a wide VOD release on February 1, 2013. The fact-based film concerns a mysterious incident in 1959, when nine experienced hikers were found dead. It finds contemporary students on a trek to investigate the mystery. Producers are Alexander Rodnyansky, Kia Jam, Harlin, and Sergei Bespalov.

Harlin said: "I was fascinated by this story, which remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of modern paranormal lore. The facts, the script, and the very dramatic setting convinced me that there is a thrilling movie there, just waiting to rivet audiences."

Curious? Want to know a bit more? In a nutshell the Dyatlov Pass Incident (as it is known) refers to an unsolved mystery that occurred in the northern Urals which saw a group of ski hikers tear open their tent from the inside and leave barefoot in a heavy snowstorm. Though there was no sign of a struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, one was missing her tongue, and clothing belonging to the victims contained high levels of radiation. Soviet investigators concluded that "a compelling unknown force" had caused their deaths.

Spooky? You betcha! More as it comes.
