In the market for a new home nestled deep in West Hollywood? Some infamous digs known for their connection to a badly burned homicidal maniac with a penchant for making your life a living hell via your dreams? Then read on!

THR reports that the house where Freddy Krueger haunted dreams in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street is now for sale.

The three-bedroom, 3.25-bath home in West Hollywood was listed for sale last week for $2.1 million. Although the 2,700-square-foot interior (which was not used in the movie) was extensively renovated in 2006, the facade -- which also appeared in Nightmare’s first sequel, Freddy’s Revenge (1985), as well as the series’ seventh installment, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994) -- remains recognizable to horror fans.

Built in 1919, also includes a swimming pool and a one-bedroom, one-bath guest house in the rear.

Rodeo Realty is handling the listing.

Okay, who wants to chip in?

Dexter's Nanny Aimee Garcia Goes Full Time in Season 8She's been a recurring character on "Dexter" for a few seasons now so it only makes sense for Showtime to finally promote Aimee Garcia, who plays Angel's sister and Dexter's nanny, Jamie, to a regular cast member; and that's exactly what's happened!

Per THR, Garcia will now be a "regular" when "Dexter" returns on June 30th. Both her boss and her brother will probably need her around a bit more now. In the Season 7 finale, Angel (Davis Zayas) was on the brink of retiring from his detective position in favor of a simpler life running a restaurant. With the recent death of his ex-wife, Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Velez), it's unclear just how that will impact his law enforcement career. Plus, we know Quinn (Desmond Harrington) is interested in the young grad student so that could affect her screen time on the show as well.

"Dexter" stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. New Season 8 cast members include Charlotte Rampling, Nick Gomez, and Sean Patrick Flanery. Look for more announcements soon!

EFM 2013: Magnet Heads to Jupiter to Attract The Europa Report

0
0

The Europa Report Outlines the Terrors of JupiterMagnet Films has landed themselves the new thriller which explores extraterrestrial lifeforms of the non-glowing finger variety. Will you be the one phoning home to scream for help? Read on for the latest details.

From the Press Release
The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they’ve acquired US rights to EUROPA REPORT, a groundbreaking science fiction film starring Sharlto Copley (District 9), about the exploration of Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

EUROPA REPORT marks Copley's first return to science fiction since the 2009 blockbuster District 9, as well as the English language debut of director Sebastián Cordero, who once again worked with two longtime collaborators, Academy Award winning Production Designer Eugenio Caballero (Pan's Labyrinth, The Impossible) and Director of Photography Enrique Chediak (127 Hours). The film was written by Philip Gelatt and produced by Wayfare Entertainment's Ben Browning. Executive Producers were Wayfare's Michael Maher and Jeremy Kipp Walker. The film features music by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead). The film was financed by Wayfare Entertainment and China's Sil Metropole.

A unique blend of documentary, alternative history and science fiction thriller, EUROPA REPORT follows a contemporary mission to Jupiter's moon Europa, to investigate the possible existence of alien life within our solar system. Developed in close collaboration with NASA, JPL, SpaceX and other leaders in the scientific community, the film imagines the next step in manned space exploration and is based on recent scientific discoveries and theories.
“EUROPA REPORT is an exceptionally smart, thrilling film that will be a revelation for space enthusiasts and science fiction fans alike,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Its nuanced attention to scientific detail lends it an exciting quality that elevates it above the usual genre fare.”

"Sebastián has made a unique and challenging film that looks and feels epic despite being contained, and we're confident has the potential to get into the zeitgeist. We also think it is a great example of the genre-bending films that Magnolia has had such success with, and we look forward to working with them again" said Browning.

Magnolia secured the rights over several other distributors in out of market bidding, believing the film perfectly calibrated for its distribution model. They will release the film later this year.

The deal was negotiated by Magnolia’s SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley and Director of Acquisitions Peter Van Steemburg with CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.

Sierra-Affinity's Nick Meyer is handling international rights and will be screening the film at the European Film Market in Berlin.

EFM 2013: Aspect Film Catches a Shiver in Berlin

0
0

Julian (The Last Horror Movie, Summer Scars) Richards' latest terror tale, Shiver, is on its way to the European Film Market, and we've got some new stills and more for you to dig on in the interim.

From the Press Release
British sales agency Aspect Film has picked up all international rights, excluding North America, to Julian Richards' riveting suspense thriller Shiver for its genre division, Chiller Films. Glenn Reynolds' Circus Road is handling domestic sales.

The film stars Danielle Harris (Halloween, Hatchet II, Stake Land), John Jarratt (Wolf Creek 1 & 2, Django Unchained, Rogue, Australia), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Sleepy Hollow, The Pact), Rae Dawn Chong (Commando, The Color Purple), Valerie Harper (Blame It On Rio), and Brad Harris (Kommisar X , Hercules, Goliath and The Gladiators).

Produced and penned by Robert D. Weinbach, Shiver is based on the acclaimed novel by New York Times bestselling author Brian Harper. Harris stars as Wendy Alden, a young secretary in Portland, Oregon, who becomes the victim of Franklin Rood, a savage killer who has claimed the lives of a number of other women. Somehow Wendy finds the resources of courage to escape, earning not only Rood's grudging respect but his twisted sense of love. He later kidnaps Wendy, subjecting her to an horrific ritual of psychological intimidation at his desolate hideout in the woods. During the course of her odyssey, Wendy transforms to a lioness in the final confrontation with the monster of her living nightmare.

Aspect Film and Chiller Films CEO Hugh Edwards says that "Julian Richards has crafted a slick, suspenseful, action-packed thriller featuring outstanding performances by Danielle Harris and John Jarratt. We are excited to bring Shiver into our fold as we look to increase our lineup of high quality genre features."

Shiver is currently an Official Selection at 20 international film festivals and has generated significant initial buzz with the poster and trailer being universally lauded. Danielle Harris has won three Best Actress Awards for Shiver, with the film having further garnered a Best Screenplay Award and a Most Shocking Feature Award.

Synopsis
Danielle Harris turns in a powerful performance as Wendy, the girl who has to toughen up quick if she wants to stay alive. The tension and gore factor are ramped up right from the word go, and the murders are brutal, relentless and unflinching, never sparing the audience. In Rood, we have a killer as clever and complex as Hannibal Lecter and as unstoppable as Michael Myers. In his moments of lucidity, the seemingly normal façade and his warped attempts at engaging Wendy in conversation are chilling as they remind us that such people can and do live among us. The reveal of the full extent of his terrible depravity is an ingenious and truly macabre masterpiece of theatrical Grand Guignol.

Exclusive: Being Human's Sam Huntington on Josh's New Beginning, Plans for a Normal Life, and Keeping the Beast at Bay

Exclusive: Being Human's Sam Huntington on Josh's New Beginning, Plans for a Normal Life, and Keeping the Beast at BaySyfy's "Being Human" gives fans a whole new perspective on what it is to be human. Viewers may have never expected that combining a vampire, werewolf, and ghost would lead to such a deep look into the human soul.

In this last installment of our exclusive interviews for the show's third season return, we talk with co-star Sam Huntington on what lies ahead for the werewolf turned human, Josh Levison.

AMANDA DYAR: Josh has obviously been riding an up and down roller coaster of emotion since the beginning of the series, but when he is around Nora (Kristen Hager), he seems to feel a bit more at ease in his own life. Is it safe to assume that Nora is the key to taming the beast within Josh, and do you think the couple will last now that Josh has lost lycanthropy?

SAM HUNTINGTON:Although Josh’s life has indeed been a roller coaster (a particularly rickety one), Josh’s relationships with the people he loves are what keep him on solid(ish) ground. Josh’s relationship with Nora is what keeps him focused on his ultimate goal: to have a normal and happy life, and his love for her is the gas that fuels his drive.

Related Stories:

  • Kristen Hager on Nora's Transformation, Relationships, and Exploring Her Lighter Side
  • Meaghan Rath on Sally's Loneliness, Second Chances, Finding Love, and Much More
  • Sam Witwer on Aidan's Addiction, Losing Everyone He Loves, and Lots More

AMANDA: At the end of the second season and through the beginning of the third, we see Josh becoming the murderer he never wanted to be. How will this affect the character moving forward, and what type of emotional burden do you place on yourself while acting in Season 3?

SAM:Josh has come a long way for sure. Josh’s arc - and his emotional journey - has been an absolute blast to play. Josh did indeed become the murderer that he never wanted to be, but he did it because he was left with no other choice. He thought that not only was he saving Nora’s life by ending Ray’s, but he was lifting the curse for her. I don’t think Josh would’ve ever killed Ray if he didn’t think that by doing so he would cure Nora. This being said, it doesn’t exactly work out that way, and because of that Josh carries a tremendous amount of guilt around with him every day. This becomes more and more evident throughout Season 3.

AMANDA: Josh has been an outcast trying to fit into the world of normal people for as long as the show has been going on, but now the roles have been reversed and he is a normal human being trying to fit in with a house full of monsters. Did you have to change your approach to playing the character much this season based on Josh's new role, and can you envision a scenario where he would ever willingly turn back into a monster?

Exclusive: Being Human's Sam Huntington on Josh's New Beginning, Plans for a Normal Life, and Keeping the Beast at Bay

SAM: Honestly, the role reversal took me quite by surprise. I’d thought of about 100 ways they could play out the standoff between Nora, Josh, and Ray at the end of Season 2, but our writers managed to find one that I hadn’t thought of. And of course, it was by far the coolest. I definitely had to adjust my performance to accommodate Josh’s lack of lycanthropy, but to be honest, because Josh has been so desperate to cure himself over the past two seasons, the adjustment came pretty naturally. And yes, Josh would do anything for his loved ones, including willingly turning back into a monster.

AMANDA: Now that Josh has been converted back to his human form, do you believe he will try and reconnect with his family? Do you believe this would be a good course of action for the character, or should he continue to distance himself forever?

SAM: I don’t believe Josh would try to reconnect with his family. At least not by choice. He feels as though he’s still very much a member of a very dangerous crew, and I don’t think he’d want his family exposed to that.

Be sure to tune in next Monday, February 11th, at 9/8c, for Episode 3.05, "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Mouth." All images courtesy of NBC Universal, Inc.

Music Box Films just sent us over the first official stills and one-sheet for its upcoming flick The Silence, and it looks to be riddled with mystery. We're talking the sinister stuff involving death and bodies. You know... the good stuff!

The flick is directed by Baran bo Odar and stars Ulrich Thomsen, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Sebastian Blomberg, Katrin Sass, and Burghart Klaussner.

Look for it in limited release on March 8, 2013.

    Synopsis
The Silence begins 23 years ago on a hot summer day, when a young girl named Pia is brutally murdered in a field of wheat. Now, on the exact same date in the present, 13-year-old Sinikka is missing, her bicycle abandoned in the same spot. As Krischan, the retired investigator of the unresolved case, and his younger colleague David struggle to solve the mystery of these parallel crimes, Sinikka’s distraught parents are trapped in an agonizing period of waiting and uncertainty. Meanwhile, their daughter’s fate rips open old wounds in the heart of Pia’s mother, who is visited by an unexpected guest with an eerie connection to her daughter. The unrelenting summer heat lies over the quaint family homes like a bell jar, and behind closed doors worlds begin to fall apart.

In his strikingly commanding debut feature The Silence, Swiss-born Baran bo Odar adapts Jan Costin Wagner’s bestselling novel with his own unmistakable signature. Mesmerizing performances by top European actors - headed by Ulrich Thomsen (The Celebration, Brothers), Sebastian Blomberg (The Baader Meinhof Complex), Katrin Sass (Good Bye, Lenin!) and Burghart Klaussner (The White Ribbon, The Edukators) - enrich this intense drama far beyond the crime genre.

    From the Press Release:
The meticulous sculpted and hand-painted statue captures Michonne, the woman transformed by pain and loss, as she is thrust into the role of a badass zombie warrior and battles endless hordes of flesh-eaters in an unforgiving post-apocalyptic world.

The beautifully detailed piece shows fan-favorite Michonne doing what she does best: killing walkers with not one, but two swords! The statue stands approximately 14.5 inches high and comes with a 360-degree rotating, highly detailed gory base so you can view the gruesome action at every angle. This statue is limited to no more than 1,500 pieces, with each sequentially numbered piece being hand-signed by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. As an added bonus, each box will include a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Todd McFarlane.

“Obviously, the sculpting team at McFarlane really outdid themselves. I think this is a really remarkable piece of art,” says The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. “Michonne is a very cool character – she’s definitely the most action-oriented character from the series, and I really liked the idea of letting the McFarlane team run wild and do their own take on Michonne.”

The limited edition statue retails at $295 with FREE Shipping (only available in US and Canada). Pre-ordering begins at 12:00 boon (EST) on Monday, February 11, 2013. United States and Canada residents can pre-order their statues exclusively from the McFarlane Toys Online Store.

With acute attention to every decaying detail, the Michonne statue was created, developed and designed by Todd McFarlane and his award-winning McFarlane Toys design group, in conjunction with Robert Kirkman and Skybound Entertainment.

This resin statue is planned to ship 3rd Quarter 2013.

The CW has unleashed another new promo video for its upcoming series "Cult," and this one includes scenes from both the show and the show-within-the-show with the words to the Robert Browning poem "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" serving as its soundtrack.

    "Cult" Episode 1.01 - "You're Next" (airs 2/19/13, 9-10 pm)
MATT DAVIS OF “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” STARS IN A NEW DRAMA — Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Davis) has learned to live with his younger brother Nate’s (guest star James Pizzinato “Alcatraz”) relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show called “Cult” intends to harm him. When his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff enlists Skye Yarrow (Jessica Lucas; Cloverfield, “Melrose Place”), a young research assistant working on “Cult,” to help with his investigation into the dark underworld of the TV show and its rabid fans.

Meanwhile, in the parallel worlds of the show-within-a-show, the cult’s ruthless leader, Billy Grimm, is played by actor Roger Reeves (the double role of Billy/Roger is played by Robert Knepper (“Prison Break,” “Shameless”), a man whose primary agenda is winning back his former follower and lover, Kelly Collins, played by actress Marti Gerritsen (the double role of Kelly/Marti is played by Alona Tal (“Supernatural,” “The Killing”). Since escaping from the cult, Kelly has become an LAPD detective who finds herself drawn back into an investigation of the group’s activities as she struggles to keep Billy at a safe distance. As the television show grows in popularity, cast members Roger and Marti begin to feel the effects in their “real” lives.

Jason Ensler directed the episode written by Rockne S. O’Bannon.
