Would You Trade Some Magic Beans for Artwork and a Trailer for The Asylum’s Jack the Giant Killer?

Would You Trade Some Magic Beans for Artwork and a Trailer for The Asylum’s Jack the Giant Killer? The Asylum’s Jack the Giant Killer likely won’t prompt legal action from Bryan Singer’s similarly titled blockbuster since it appears to be set in the early 20th century, the giants are dinosaur-like monsters, and I’m unaware of any version of “Jack & the Beanstalk” that includes a giant robot.

Jane March (Color of Night), Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire), and newcomer Jamie Atkins star in writer-director Mark Atkins’ (Sand Sharks) Jack the Giant Killer, coming to VOD/DVD/Blu-ray on March 12th. That’s 11 days after Jack the Giant Slayer beanstalks theaters worldwide.

So how is The Asylum version of this classic fairy tale different?

A giant beanstalk brings Jack to a land in the clouds filled with snarling, evil beasts. When the creatures make their way to Earth, Jack must figure out how to get back down before they destroy his hometown and everyone in it.

What that synopsis doesn’t reveal that this brief teaser trailer does is that The Asylum’s take appears to be set sometime in the 1940’s or 50’s, judging by the motorcycle; instead of an evil giant he finds a sexy Jane March and triceratops-looking behemoths that for some reason remind me greatly of giant Japanese turtle monster Gamera’s classic foe Jiger; and it appears that he fights back by building a giant robot that brings to mind one of those of wind-up, sparking toy robots of the atomic age.

So when giant monsters descend from the beanstalk, young Jack goes Pacific Rim on them? Not your father’s Jack and the Beanstalk, but I’m still sold. Judging by the preview, this looks as if it could be a kick-ass fairy tale with giant monsters and robots.

Demonic Monsters Await UK Motorists Who Enter Their Territory

Now here’s a little creature feature that looks like it has plenty of potential. Territory features the stranded motorists of a four-car accident in the middle of nowhere forced to contend with an even greater threat: demonic monsters unhappy humans have entered their territory.

Undead Backbrain brings exclusive first word on this British monster horror from first-time filmmakers Thomas Saville and Robert Vassie. Territory stars Sylvie England, Karen Morgan, Dave Taylor, and Eifion Melnyk-Jones.

Synopsis:
Four cars lie stranded on a dark and desolate country road in the middle of the night – the aftermath of a car crash. Tensions run high as the survivors struggle to resolve the situation, but they soon realise that the worst is far from over... Tired, cold, and miles away from the nearest town, the true danger begins to dawn on the passengers as they find themselves being picked off by a group of demonic creatures, enraged by the fact that humans have strayed into their murky territory.

The filmmaking duo declare John Carpenter’s The Thing and Alien as heavy influences on their creative decisions, though from what I see in this teaser trailer “The Descent goes for a car ride” springs to mind. That’s not a bad thing at all. Check it out.

EFM 2013: The Weinstein Co. Acquires Blood Sisters: Vampire Academy for Valentine's Day 2014 Release

In one of the biggest U.S. deals ever to emerge from the European Film Market in Berlin, The Weinstein Co. (no doubt hoping for a franchise) has won a bidding war for Stateside rights to Mark Waters' adaptation of Blood Sisters, the first book in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series.

Per THR, insiders say the deal is valued at over $30 million between the acquisition fee and marketing commitment. TWC struck the pact with financiers Reliance Entertainment and IM Global and has a rolling option on subsequent installments. At least two Hollywood studios were bidding for U.S. rights to the movie, which we learned last week will star Zooey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Danila Kozlovsky (more on that here). The script was written by Daniel Waters (Heathers), brother of director Mark (Mean Girls).

Blood Sisters, set to go into production in early summer and hit theaters on February 14, 2014, marks Harvey Weinstein's first foray into the young adult franchise arena. The Vampire Academy book series has sold more than 8 million copies in 35 countries. To date there are six titles. "I am thrilled to be working on the first feature for Vampire Academy. This series is fantastic, and I am excited to bring it to the screen for diehard fans and introduce the stories to a whole new audience,"said Weinstein.

The film will be produced by Michael Preger and his Preger Entertainment banner, Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford, and Kintop Pictures’ Deepak Nayer. IM Global’s Stuart Ford is executive producer. Stated Murphy: "The addition of Harvey and the TWC distribution and marketing team gives us the opportunity to present this wonderful franchise to the world in a bold, unique fashion and only adds to Vampire's considerable momentum."

Book Synopsis
Set in the present day against a hidden universe of vampires, half-humans, alchemy, and magic. Richelle Mead shifts the focus from the brooding male vampires of Twilight, "True Blood," and "The Vampire Diaries" to that of a strong, yet flawed 17-year-old female who confronts her world with grit, determination, and lots of moxie. Rose Hathaway is a dhampir, half human/half vampire, and guardian of the Moroi, a race of peaceful and magical mortal vampires who can walk in the daylight, survive by feeding off willing blood donors, grow old, and die. Hidden deep in the forests of Montana is St. Vladimir's Academy, where Moroi and dhampirs learn to take their place in Moroi society.

Rose must master her inherited abilities as a dhampir and earn the approval of the Royal Council as guardian to Princess Lissa, her best friend and sole heir of one of the twelve Royal families of Moroi. Rose and Lissa share a mysterious psychic bond and sense of destiny, but first they must survive an intense social scene, politics, and the physical challenges of Moroi life at the Academy. Outside the sanctuary of St. Vladimir's waits their greatest threat of all, the Strigoi, a race of bloodthirsty immortal vampires and predators of the Moroi.

EFM 2013: News Wrap-up - The Night Stalkers, Spring, Gallowwalkers, Big Ass Spider!, Body ArtTime for another European Film Market wrap-up story as several projects are on the move at Berlin's big film dance. Read on for the latest on some current and newly announced projects.

As per Screen Daily...

Canada’s Evokative Films is reorientating its operations towards international sales consultancy. Evokative’s founder Stephanie Trepanier is at the EFM with two new projects: Chelsea Peters’ slasher film The Night Stalkers, produced by Ryan Turek and set to shoot this summer, and supernatural horror-romance Spring from filmmaking duo Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (Resolution).

VMI Worldwide has sold North American rights of the action-sci-fi-horror movie Gallowwalkers, starring Wesley Snipes, to Wrekin Hill Entertainment as well as Japan to Presidio and the Middle East to Phoenicia. As you may recall, this long shelved movie centers on a cursed gunman who incurs the wrath of undead warriors after he kills the gang that murdered his lover. Diamond Dallas Page, Simona Brhlikova, and Jonathan Garcia also star.

In other news Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of Body Art, Luca Guadagnino’s new film based on the novel The Body Artist by Don DeLillo. Filming will begin this summer in Portugal. Isabelle Huppert, David Cronenberg, and Denis Lavant all star in the flick, which tells the tale of a woman who, grieving after her husband’s death, discovers that a stranger is living in her upstairs room.

And finally Big Ass Spider! (aka I>Mega Spider) has started spinning quite the international web as Epic Pictures Group has locked down distribution with Splendid for Germany and Benelux, FIP for France, Daro for CIS, Presidio for Japan, M Pictures for Thailand, Sonamu for South Korea, Star Alliance for China, and Eagle Films for the Middle East. Still no word on U.S. distro, but expect to hear something soon. In the flick a team of scientists and an exterminator race to destroy a giant rampaging arachnid in Los Angeles.

Know what we need? We need a movie about super-sized man-eating alligators (in 3D of course) that's rated PG-13 to "maximize the target audience." Didn't anyone learn anything from Shark Night?

Said to mix the humor of Gremlins with the sheer terror and smarts(!) of Deep Blue Sea, Chomp 3D is set against the backdrop of the Louisiana bayou and flavored with Cajun culture. Expect many pools of bloody water and little else. The flick is on sale right now at EFM with no director attached. The flick, if sold, will be produced by Golden Globe nominee Dan Grodnik and executive produced by multiple Indie Spirit nominee Nick Stiliadis. The story is written by Louisiana native, ex-ATF agent, and award-winning author and screenwriter Chuck Hustmyre.

Synopsis
A wild storm off the coast of Louisiana sends the Chinese freighter “Sea Dragon” crashing into the break wall and spilling its deadly cargo. Unknown to the inhabitants of the tiny island community of Grand Lafitte is that on the eve of tourism season, all hell is about to break loose!

The friendly island is being overrun by hundreds of genetically enhanced “super-sized” alligators, the result of a genetic experiment designed to boost profits. These man-eating beasts measure over 20 feet long and weigh in excess of a ton. With a prehistoric look and a bad attitude to match, these creatures are attacking everybody and everything, leaving the authorities of this coastal island town in shock.

Enter the Broussard brothers, former stars of their own reality alligator hunting show, who find themselves the most unlikely of heroes. With their extraordinary alligator-hunting skills and intimate knowledge of the swamp, the three brothers are the last line of defense between the townspeople and alligator annihilation. The ornery gators have finally met their match!

The Top 11 Movie Serial Killers

    $
    0
    0

Serial killers have long been the stuff of which nightmares are made. The serial killer sub-genre of horror has brought us some amazingly memorable characters that still haunt us to this day. On February 19th Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will bring us a new name in fear with The Factory.

Starring John Cusack and Jennifer Carpenter as detectives tracking a murderer, The Factory is set in the bitter cold of a Buffalo winter. A great place to hunt a hunter. And to celebrate the release of this newest addition to the sub-genre, we've compiled a list of the Top 11 Movie Serial Killers.

There is certainly a long list of names to choose from, but we narrowed the field a bit by limiting it to those who were just regular human people. No supernatural involvement here, just a person or group of people who've gone off the deep end and made hunting and killing others their main hobby. Not exactly the bunch you want to have over to the house for drinks and a rousing game of Scattergories.

We'll start the honorable mentions out with a couple of newer faces. Perhaps one of the more popular serial killers right now, whose story is currently unraveling before us, is Joe Carroll, the mastermind behind all the deviousness going on in "The Following." And we've also got to throw a little love to Vincent D'Onofrio for his outstanding work as the killer simply known as "Bob" in 2012's Chained.

But we mustn't forget some of our old favorites. Dee Snider's Captain Howdy in Strangeland was nothing if not unique. And as original stories go, Leslie Vernon's tale in Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is as original as they come. Billy Loomis and his sidekick, Stu Macher, were genre-revivingly brilliant in Scream. And Kurt Russell brought a whole new meaning to "hell on wheels" and was a completely new style of hunter with the most unlikely weapon you'd ever expect as Stuntman Mike in Death Proof. Just missing the Top 11 was the incredibly creepy, unnamed and basically unseen (aside from a disturbing eyeball shot) killer from 1974's Black Christmas; the man that taught us never to pick up anyone walking along the side of the road in The Hitcher, John Ryder; and a man just trying to instill love of life in his victims, John Kramer (a.k.a. Jigsaw) of the Saw franchise.

    And now we give you...

The Top 11 Movie Serial Killers

    Patrick Bateman (American Psycho)
Inspired by one of the most disturbing books you'll ever read, written by Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho hit the big screen with huge anticipation from fans. Just how were the filmmakers going to recreate some of the unspeakable atrocities committed by Patrick Bateman, the featured psycho in the book? Before emaciating himself for The Machinist or bulking up for Batman, Christian Bale was thrilling audiences as one of the most unique and charming serial killers we've ever seen. Bale creates the ultimate anti-hero with his portrayal of Bateman, a character that horror fans hold close to their heart even to this day, nearly 15 years after American Psycho was released and challenged us to believe that anyone is capable of anything…especially a guy specializing in "murders and executions, mostly."

    John Doe (Seven)
Nearly 10 years before Jigsaw started his murderous masterpiece, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman played detectives chasing down Kevin Spacey as a serial killer with a very plain name but a very ambitious plan. In Seven Spacey's John Doe made it his business to execute seven unfortunate souls who were guilty of breaking the seven deadly sins: sloth, greed, gluttony... oh, what am I doing? If you're reading this site, you know what the seven deadly sins are. You've probably broken a handful of them yourself. Like Jigsaw, John Doe's intricate pre-planning and execution of that plan were the most impressive parts of the character. And the climax of Seven, John Doe's swan song, is one of the most tense, memorable and shocking you'll find in film.

    Dexter Morgan ("Dexter")
Although not found in a movie, there is simply no way Dexter Morgan doesn't make this list. Television's darling serial killer has been enamoring viewing audiences for seven seasons while he and his dark passenger face one adventure after another. All this while Dex still manages to do a bang-up job as a blood spatter expert for Miami Metro. Michael C. Hall is absolutely perfect in the role that, after so many episodes, it seems he was born to play. We've been with Dex through marriage and the birth of his child, seen his mother murdered and watched the spirit of his adopted father guide him through each and every crossroad in his life. Our familiarity with him, and Dexter's charisma and charm, has made him one of the most beloved characters on television. Not to mention the fact that he sets up one helluva kill room.

Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street)
Oftentimes we'll see serial killers set on their murderous rampages by an egregious wrongdoing. That could not be more true than in the case of Sweeney Todd, or Benjamin Barker as he was known before that nasty ol' Judge Turpin stuck it right up his can, stealing his wife and setting him out to sea to die. Barker was a mild-mannered barber before being set on a path of vengeance. Most recently represented by Johnny Depp in the 2007 version of the story directed by Tim Burton, Sweeeny Todd actually has quite the history, with the original tale being told in a 1936 film, although the Burton/Depp tale much more resembles the 1979 Steven Sondheim musical. Todd disposes of unwanted men in his barber chair (which is advantageously positioned over a trap door), and his literal partner in crime, Mrs. Lovett (played in '07 by Helena Bonham Carter and by Angela Lansbury in the musical) grinds the bodies up and makes meat pies out of them. Which, surprisingly, the people of London circa 1846 can't get enough of. As will often happen, the murders get out of control, and things end up going horribly wrong for Todd in this musical tragedy. But a beautiful tale it is.

Curt Duncan (When A Stranger Calls)
Although we're not privy to much of his past, one has to assume that anyone as creepy as Curt Duncan, who was shipped off to the asylum for literally ripping children apart with his bare hands, had to have a trail of bodies in his wake. Duncan was portrayed by Tony Beckley in When A Stranger Calls; however, while playing the role, Beckley was terminally ill and died in 1980, shortly after the film was completed. Although the killer is not even seen in the iconic opening 20 minutes of the movie outside of a shadow, we find there is just something off-putting about him as we get to know him throughout the rest of the picture. We know the brutality he's capable of, and when we watch him try to blend into society after his escape from custody, we see just how unsettling he can be. Curt Duncan simply makes the viewers uncomfortable. He's the kind of guy that makes your skin crawl, and isn't that the goal? Not to mention he scores huge points for helping make the line "Have you checked the children?" legendary.

    Read on for more.

The Firefly Clan (House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects)
The number of bodies they may have piled up is unknown, but it's certain that The Firefly Clan had been in business long before we originally meet them in House of 1000 Corpses. With Otis B. Driftwood, Captain Spaulding and Baby as the main members, the group is fleshed out by the likes of Mama Firefly, Grandpa, Tiny and Rufus. They are as handsome as they are merciful and turn out to be a very amusing group. Sid Haig's Captain Spaulding provides comic relief for the films, but he shows he can be just as dangerous as Bill Moseley's deviously deviant Otis. Mama Firefly brings her own matriarchal qualities to the table as well. And Baby? The most beautiful butcher you'll ever lay your eyes on. And btw, the trailer below was done by Universal Pictures when they were going to distribute the film, long before it ended up at Lionsgate's door.

Mickey and Mallory Knox (Natural Born Killers)
They embarked on a murderous rampage that thrilled the nation, making them celebrities. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis play the loving couple who perfectly dramatize society's love of danger. Serial killers have long been made into celebrities in society, and with the flash and charisma of Mickey and Mallory, it was no surprise they hit superstardom. With a script penned by Quentin Tarantino and with Oliver Stone at the helm, Natural Born Killers was a can't miss venture. Harrelson and Lewis could not have been better in roles that would go on to become legendary, and colorful characters brought to life by Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Sizemore and Robert Downey, Jr., assisted in providing the perfect atmosphere for Mickey and Mallory to thrive.

    Norman Bates (Psycho)
One of the original, and still most disturbing, serial killers in the history of American film, Norman Bates set the bar for all cinematic depravity to follow in Alfred Hitchcock's iconic 1960 film Psycho. Norman had the perfect serial killer setup. He never had to go out and skulk around in the dark. The victims came right to him. He even had that handy-dandy peephole so he could scope out the merchandise before buying. Seriously, though, Norman Bates was such a deranged serial killer that his story became legendary. Psycho eventually spawned some sequels that looked to add to the tale, but the entire story was told when Mrs. Bates was revealed in the cellar before a frocked Norman could add to his body total. A simply unforgettable killer.

The Sawyer Clan (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre)
Everything's bigger in Texas? You're damn right! Sometimes things are done better by a group, and that was certainly the case with The Sawyer Clan in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sure, Leatherface got all the love, but we've got to remember that it was The Hitchhiker that initially found the five kids in the big blue van. And it was The Cook that brought poor Sally Hardesty back for her dinner date with the Sawyers. So even though it was Leatherface's hulking form and chainsaw handiwork that audiences took away from the film, the serial killing in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was certainly a team effort. And, of course, after losing The Hitchhiker at the end of the film, they replaced him with an even more entertaining member when Bill Moseley's Chop-Top returned from Vietnam for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 12 years later. You wouldn't want to see the Sawyers moving into the vacant house next to yours, but they do make one efficient team of serial killers. The saw is family.

Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs)
Anthony Hopkins brought a monster to life with his portrayal of Dr. Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and its sequels. It was the fact that Lecter was so smart, so far ahead of the game, that made him so terrifying, even when incarcerated. But it wasn't until his escape from custody that we really saw just how vicious Lecter really could be. Sure, we saw him talk ol' Miggs into swallowing his own tongue, but it was the escape where we really saw Lecter at work. A slash, slash here and a slash, slash there; and the next thing you know, the good doctor was being carried to an ambulance with someone else's face on, and off to freedom he went. The sequels also carried on with author Thomas Harris' vision of Lecter, insanely intelligent and brutally violent. The combination of the two make for one the most dangerous serial killers ever.

Henry (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer)
Long before he was the foul-mouthed bigot Merle Dixon we've all come to love on "The Walking Dead," Michael Rooker portrayed one of the most realistic serial killers we've even seen. Rooker played Henry, a nomadic drifter based loosely on real-life serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. The film was the definition of gritty, realistic and downright chilling. Henry's remorselessness and robotic persona were the most frightening things about him. He killed randomly and without emotion, and what could be more frightening than that…a killer who will simply pick anyone out of a crowd, murder him or her, and then sleep tight at night without a second thought of his heinous act. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is one of the most realistic and acerbic looks into the mind of a killer we've ever had the pleasure to experience. It's a docu-drama made long before the style became in vogue, and it worked perfectly in this case. A voyeuristic journey into madness.

Absolute Radio caught up with Elizabeth Olsen, who took a moment to talk about Gareth Edwards' upcoming take on the king of the monsters, Godzilla, and we really like what we're hearing.

Olsen and Bryan Cranston are in talks to co-star in the film along with the previously announced Aaron Johnson. Sources stress that no deals will be done until the finished script materializes, but her talking about the flick seems to be a pretty clear indication that Olsen is indeed involved!

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a script now being polished by Frank Darabont, Godzilla is still on course to begin production in March with the film dated for a May 16, 2014, release.

"It's definitely not lighthearted," says Olsen of the new flick while at today's BAFTAs. "It's going back to the roots of the original Japanese film."

The Walking Dead: Recap of Episode 3.09 - The Suicide KingAfter an agonizing couple of months in limbo since the midseason finale, we now get to learn the fates of our favorite survivors. This episode entitled "The Suicide King" is directed by Leslie Linka Glatter.

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read any further if you haven’t watched the episode yet. This is a recap with specific details from this episode. Continue only if you have already watched it.

The episode brought us back to the zombie fight-club pit with the Dixon brother, Merle and Daryl. When Andrea protested and was held back, the Governor presented to the blood-thirsty crowd a fight to the death for Merle to prove his loyalty. Merle, ever the caring big brother, took his first shot at Daryl. Restraint hungry walkers were brought out to join the fun. However, Merle only faked the fight so that he and Daryl could fend off the encroaching walkers together. All of a sudden, the calvary led by Rick and Maggie arrived and caused chaos in the dark while the Governor seemed nonplussed. Taking advantage of the commotion, Daryl led Merle away and even managed to retrieved his crossbow along the way.

Now, that was how you return from hiatus! Merle led Rick, Maggie and Daryl outside the compound through a makeshift hole on the wall. "A little help would be nice" yelled Merle while bludgeoning a walker on the street to a pulp. When the team joined the walker killing, Merle yelled again "we ain't got time for this!". Such a flake. No wonder the Governor questioned your loyalty! As the team ran off, an intrepid walker made its way through that hole in the wall. "Dinner, here I come" he must have thought.

When Rick and the group re-joined with Glenn and Michonne in the woods, Glenn and Michonne were gun- and katana-blazing at the sight of Merle. When Rick tried to make peace, Merle antagonized Michonne with some inappropriate behavior about Andrea and recapped the last eight episodes for the group and viewers alike at the same time. You know everyone is all caught up when Rick finally gave Merle a pistol whipping.

The Walking Dead: Recap of Episode 3.09 - The Suicide King

Back at the prison, Tyrese and his people are still separated from the rest of the group. Tyrese and Sasha caught Hershel up on their situation but Hershel suggested that the rest of their group may not be as welcoming.

Outside Woodbury, Rick, Daryl, Maggie and Glenn discussed what to do with Merle and Michonne. "No, Merle is your blood. My blood, my family is standing right here and waiting for us back at the prison" Glenn made a good point but Daryl would not take it. "No Merle, no me" was his ultimatum and with just that, he was gone. Guess we'll have to play the Dixon brothers video game spin off to find out what happens to them. Angrily, Rick made it clear to Michonne that she would only get medical care and is not welcomed to join them. Was that a Hyundai Tucson product placement, the only car that would survive a zombie apocalypse?

Tyrese and his group carried Donna's body outside for burial when when Allen and Ben had the idea of overpowering our heroes and take over the prison. "A little kid, a woman, a girl and a one-legged old man" said Allen. Both Tyrese and Sasha were against that idea. I think that scene just gave us two new red-shirts. Right then, Beth and Axel came out with some tools to help with the burial. Tyrese and Sasha accepted the tool but quickly blocked the other two away from Beth and Axel.

A red pickup truck blocked the path of our Hyundai Tucson. Trying to move it, Glenn was attacked by a walker inside. Glenn took his aggression out on the walker with just his boot while Rick and Maggie looked dumbfounded. Glenn was upset that Rick did not kill the Governor and that he let Daryl leave.

Back at Woodbury, Andrea and Milton tried to assess the situation in their town and with the Governor, when a small mob of people and cars tried to leave, causing a scuffle with the guards at the gate. Before long, screams rang out and Andrea and minion Martinez ran towards several walkers having a snack of some residents. After they dispatched of the walkers, a victim was still alive but struggling. When no one could do anything to help, the Governor strode up, put a bullet in his head and went back inside.

The Hyundai Tucson arrived at the prison and while Rick had a quick reunion with Carl, Carol looked a little frantic when she didn't see Daryl with them. Rick explained and had to console an upset Carol.

The Walking Dead: Recap of Episode 3.09 - The Suicide King

In the Governor's apartment, Andrea confronted him about the scared town folks, about Daryl and why she wasn't told about her friends. She even accused the Governor of shutting her out emotionally.

At the prison, Hershel updated Rick about the new arrivals but Rick ignored them before reuniting with a crying baby Judith.

The town folks at Woodbury demanded answers from the Governoor and would not listen to Milton until Andrea stepped in with a satisfying speech about perseverance.

Beth tried to comfort Carol about Daryl but worried about being weak without Daryl. However, Carol thought Tyrese and his group seemed capable. Maggie and Glenn had a bad moment while Hershel was cleaning him up. What would happen to our favorite couple now?

Continuing his medical rotation, Hershel tended to a sleeping Michonne and indicated to Rick that she wouldn't be able to travel for a couple more days.

Carol comforted Axel about Oscar when the group conferred about their dwindling numbers knowing that the Governor would retaliate soon . Rick finally met the new arrivals but refused to be convinced by Tyrese and Sasha to let them stay. Hershel even had to take him aside to plead their case. Even before Rick can decide, he started to hallucinate a Lori-figure upstairs and freaked out, scaring everyone there. Tyrese and his group were even scared enough to leave. Another breakdown? This time, there isn't a telephone in sight.

Dead Space 3 is now available for Xbox 360, PC and PS3. A final episode of the mini series will let players discover what is in store for Isaac. What horror lies ahead? Read on to find out!

Read our read our Dead Space 3 review here.

    From the Press Release
In this final episode of the mini series, we discover what the future has in store for Isaac. Against all odds, Isaac’s not dead yet. After the Titan Station was destroyed, Isaac and Ellie parted ways. Isaac, now on the run from EarthGov, went to New Horizons, an overpopulated and depressing colony on Earth’s Moon. Ellie, not satisfied with hiding out, chose to search for a way to stop the Markers. Isaac couldn’t hide for long. Soon after, EarthGov Captain Robert Norton and Sergeant John Carver came knocking on his door. It seems they had been working with Ellie on finding a way to stop the Markers but Ellie had gone missing while following a lead.

To make matters worse, a Unitologist named Jacob Danik has organized his followers into an uprising that threatens to topple the government and unleash Markers across all occupied space. Isaac, Carver and Norton barely escape the zealots and head to the freezing wastes of Tau Volantis, Ellie’s last known location. There they discover an entire fleet of centuries-old ships, most of them nothing more than scrap, orbiting the planet. They also uncover an ancient government program that could reveal a way to stop the Marker threat once and for all.

A new location brings with it daunting new challenges. Isaac now faces the whiteness of endless snow as well as the darkness of space, and low visibility on the frozen planet’s surface means that a deadly attack can come from any side at any time. Not only will Isaac have new Necromorph strains to combat, but he’ll also come up against human enemies for the first time, as soldiers dedicated to Unitology’s cause are determined to silence Isaac permanently.

Luckily, with new challenges come new tools. Benches will now allow Isaac to not only upgrade existing weapons, but, by drawing on his engineering expertise, craft entirely new ones as well. There are literally thousands of options, with the ability to customise both primary and secondary fire. New universal ammo clips will mean better inventory management, and scouring the wastes for resources will yield stronger weapons.
Isaac has also learned a thing or two from his past encounters. After surviving two Necromorph infestations and conquering his inner demons, he’s become more proficient in combat and can now crouch and roll away from danger, and use a new intuitive adaptive cover system to use the environment to his advantage.

With Isaac pushing himself to the limit of human endurance in harsh climates, and with fresh snowfall bringing fresh scares, misery has never craved company quite so badly. For the first time, Isaac doesn’t have to face his fears alone. A new co-op mode introduces John Carver, an EarthGov Sergeant who experiences a Necromorph outbreak first hand and tragically loses his wife and child. Riddled with guilt and seeking redemption, his path crosses with Isaac and the two join together to combat enemies, both real and imagined.

As Carver struggles with the effects of the Marker, he begins to hallucinate, and only Isaac can pull him back from the brink. With Carver’s military prowess and Clarke’s experience with the Necromorph plague, they undoubtedly stand a better chance of survival. Although co-op allows players to expand on the Dead Space lore and offers additional side quests and missions, it isn’t essential to completing Isaac’s story.

He may have new company to share the burden, new weapons to craft and new ground to cover, but ultimately it’s up to Isaac to uncover the secrets of the Markers and halt the spread of terror once and for all. It’s time to face your fear, and take down the terror.
