Back in June we got word that Zack Parker had begun working on the European-style suspense-thriller Proxy, and today he sent over the first batch of stills from the upcoming film.

Synopsis:
Directed by Zack Parker, Proxy stars Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe, and Joe Swanberg. The screenplay was penned by Parker and Kevin Donner and is being produced by Parker’s Along the Tracks Productions and Faust Checho’s FSC Productions.

A very pregnant Esther Woodhouse (Rasmussen) is walking home after her latest OB appointment, when she is brutally attacked and disfigured by a hooded assailant. When Esther seeks consolation in a support group, she finds friendship and empathy in Melanie (Havins), another mother scarred with tragedy. Esther soon begins to believe that the horrific event might be a bittersweet act of fate. However, friendship and empathy can be very dangerous things when accepted by the wrong people.

Proxy is a European-style suspense-thriller that promises to challenge the traditional cinematic form. Parker has reunited with The Newton Brothers to compose the score as well as Jim Timperman as Director of Photography to lens the film. A notable addition to Parker’s crew is seasoned Special F/X Make-Up Artist James Ojala. Proxy was shot on location in Eastern Indiana last summer and looks to begin its festival run this fall.

Longtime DC reader Avery G gave us the heads-up that two new trailers for Wither, which was recently picked up by Artsploitation Films, have been released with English subtitles so at least now we'll have some clue as to what's going on.

Synopsis

Everyone is excited about seeing the mysterious house. Upon arriving, two of the friends, Markus and Marie, decide to scare Albin by sneaking in through a window. Marie climbs in while Albin and the others try to get the locked front door open. Inside the dark house, Marie stumbles upon a hatch that leads down to an underground area. Out of curiosity she can't resist checking it out. But underneath the ground something is waiting for her...

And the casting continues for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the still surprisingly good Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Yep, the funky taste of that Tim Burton mess is all but gone from our mouths.

According to THR, Jason Clarke has signed on to star in 20th Century Fox’s upcoming sequel that's set 15 years after the events of Rise. The plot is for the most part under wraps, but we do know two aspects of it... One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom.

Matt Reeves, stepping into the shoes originally worn by Rupert Wyatt, is directing the sequel to Fox’s 2011 hit. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, who penned the first installment, wrote the initial draft for Dawn. Scott Burns had written a draft for Wyatt, but when Reeves came on board, the studio and producers wanted something tailored specifically for him and hired Mark Bomback to do a rewrite. It should also be noted that Bomback did some uncredited script doctoring on Rise. Peter Chernin is back as producer.

Fox has set a May 23, 2014, release date.

Yeah, remember back in April of 2012 when we reported that current WWE champion Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was going to be the lead character in Warner Brothers' big screen adaptation of Lobo? No? Well that's okay. WB doesn't remember that either.

While doing press for his upcoming flick Snitch, The Rock had this to say about the project... [It was hot] "for a minute... it just kind of went away as things happen in Hollywood... I was interested in it, then it went away."

Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard-boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s, when he became one of the most popular and bloodier characters in the DC Comics stable.

The logline of the film was "Lobo, a powerful alien bounty hunter, lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc.".

Oh well. At least we still have the Lobo ParaMilitary Christmas Special. Right?

We’ve been following this one from the beginning, and as promised, Dread Central delivers up today the online premiere of Christian Ackerman’s horror-comedy short Hell’s Belles.

Written and directed by Ackerman, Hell’s Belles was filmed in 2011 just outside Los Angeles (see our set visit here) and had a glitzy premiere earlier last year in Hollywood, CA (we were there to cover that, too; see our red carpet coverage here).

The film, which was produced by Drina Durazo, stars Ariel Teal Toombs (daughter of pro wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper) and Mayra Rodriguez as inexperienced occult specialists called by the local sheriff to help rescue a young girl from a lascivious demon from Hell. Rounding out the cast are Bonjah, Trista Robinson, James Cavlo, Paul Gebeau, and Buffy Dakan.

Chatting with Ackerman, who recently completed the feature script version of Hell’s Belles (with co-writer Chuck Foster), the filmmaker stated of the short’s festival performance (it received 26 nominations and 15 awards in 2012), "After a great festival run with the short, we're excited to get this feature script out to producers. It was a blast to write, and we're confident it will succeed as a kick-ass horror-comedy feature!"

Trailer numero dos for the latest found footage flick to grace our screens, Loss of Life, has arrived; and it looks as if this flick's protagonists are in for one really bad night... THAT THEY CAN'T STOP FILMING!!!!!! Hang on; we need a couple more exclamation points: !!!!!!!!!!! There we go. That's better.

David Damiata and Michael Matteo Rossi's found footage flick Loss of Life follows a group of frightened teens trapped in a warehouse who quickly realize that no matter what happens, they must not stop filming. Reggie Range, Niko Warren, Randi Borden, and Melvin Gregg star.

Synopsis
On October 31, 2011, in North Hollywood, California, a group of high school friends decided to document their Halloween night out. What they end up documenting is a horrific bloody attack that quickly becomes the worst night of their lives. This film is a compilation of the footage found that night.

Music Box Films just sent us over the first official trailer for its upcoming flick The Silence, and it looks to be riddled with mystery. We're talking the sinister stuff involving death and bodies. You know... the good stuff! Check it out!

Directed by Greg A. Sager, the flick stars Ryan Barrett and Camille Hollet-French as the leads "Sam Becker" and "Jessica Martin." Jason Martorino, Soroush Saeidi, Jo Jo Karume, Chelsey Marie, William Foley, and Katie Uhlmann also star with Elle O’Brien making her feature film debut. Principal photography will begin on Monday, February 25, 2013, in a one-million-square-foot location in the Southwestern Ontario area.

Synopsis:
A group of strangers wake up in an abandoned hospital and find themselves stalked by a supernatural force with sinister intentions. As they begin to question the coincidences that link their pasts, they soon realize that the decisions they make will seal their fates forever.

Up-and-coming UK filmmaker Adam Hamdy, whose feature Pulp was recently acquired by Microsoft and will become the first ever film to premiere on the Xbox platform, has signed on to write and direct his first solo feature film, Anomaly, an original science fiction thriller.

Anomaly will be produced by Alexander Content and Dare Productions. Producers on the project will be Alexander Content principal Rick Alexander and UK-based Phil Bland.

Anomaly tells the story of Tom Richards, a young man who wakes up in hospital after a terrible auto accident, and his quest to discover the truth about what really happened to him.

With casting set to begin shortly and principal photography scheduled for a September 2013 start , the financing for Anomaly has been structured and secured by UK-based Smith and Williamson. Anomaly is being executive produced by Syndicate Works principal Pat Nelson and Adam Hamdy.

Alrighty, kids! Time for five minutes of video goodness that you're bound to go psycho for! A&E has released two new looks into the crazed world of young Norman Bates and his mother. Relax, take off your clothes, have a shower, and then take a look!

A&E Network will premiere the new original scripted drama series “Bates Motel” from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”) on Monday, March 18th, at 10 PM ET/PT. “Bates Motel” is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.

The series stars Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland), Max Thieriot (Disconnect), Olivia Cooke (Blackout), and Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender). Synopsis

What do you know? We have yet another one-sheet here for you in promotion of the new Thomas Jane flick that he's set to direct and star in called Wet House, and this one is far more in our wheelhouse. Dig it!

Jane is reteaming with screenwriter Jack Reher on the flick. "[Wet Houses are] places that are popping up all over the United States. Kind of creepy. People go there by their own admission when they give up on life and their addictions. By means of drinking or drugs, late-stage users go to a Wet House when all hope is lost. Then they die,” explains Reher.

Synopsis:
This elevated genre supernatural thriller is loosely based on Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story “The Signal-Man.” A doctor treats a patient who checks in there after a horrific car accident and meets another resident who predicts tragic things that haven’t happened yet.. Slowly the doctor loses grip on his sanity in the Wet House and becomes haunted by something sinister.

Just when we thought the day couldn't get any stranger, a new clip from Fox Searchlight’s Stoker has arrived and proves that we are family. Now just try and get that disco song out of your head for the rest of the day! We dare you!

Wentworth Miller penned the tale. Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, Dermot Mulroney, Phyllis Somerville, and Alden Ehrenreich star in the film directed by Park Chan-wook.

Stoker is the first in a planned trilogy. Park Chan-wook is the Korean master of genre cinema, having directed Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance, along with Thirst and JSA.

Look for the flick in theatres on March 1st, 2013.

When Claire (Natalie Zea) receives a phone call that may lead her to her son, Joey (Kyle Catlett), Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and the FBI set their next move into motion, causing panic at the followers’ hideout.
