All the Boys Love Mandy Lane FINALLY Getting a U.S. Release

0
0

Yes, you read that headline correctly. The unthinkable is happening! The impossible even! SEVEN YEARS after its debut, Jonathan Levine's (Warm Bodies) first directorial effort, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, is finally getting a North American release! Talk about overdue!

From the Press Release:
RADiUS-TWC is proud to announce that it has acquired U.S. rights to ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE, the long anticipated feature directorial debut from director Jonathan Levine (WARM BODIES, 50/50) that has been rescued by the Weinstein Company’s boutique label.

Starring Amber Heard (Drive Angry, Machete Kills) and Anson Mount ("Hell on Wheels"), ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY is about a group of high schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, “a good girl” who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.

ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE will be released in late summer – seven years after its Toronto Film Festival Midnight premiere.

RADiUS Co-President Tom Quinn says: “I've been chasing this film since I first saw it in Toronto. [Executive producer] Keith Calder and I have kept in touch over the years, and he's finally been able to wrangle the film from a deal at Senator. Originally, Harvey and Bob beat us to it in Toronto, and now we get to work together to finally bring MANDY LANE to U.S. audiences. This is one of the few horror films that has remained relevant and in the zeitgeist for years - - no easy feat - - and it still surpasses so much of what is being produced today.”

According to Harvey and Bob Weinstein, “We’ve always loved MANDY LANE and are thrilled that RADiUS shares our passion for the film and will get in front of the widest possible audience.”

Levine goes on to say: “I am thrilled that MANDY LANE has been rescued and is back where it belongs with Harvey and Bob. Hard to believe it's been seven years, but then again I’ve always perceived myself as a misunderstood artist who was light years ahead of his time, so I am thrilled the world has finally caught up. Seriously, I am incredibly proud of the film and of the hard work that my cast and collaborators put into it, and I am so happy the world will finally get a chance to see it.”

“It's finally time for me to come clean… During the production of MANDY LANE, I broke a mirror and doomed the film to seven years of bad luck. Thankfully, the team at RADiUS-TWC has shown up to rescue our film and clear my guilty conscience. I'm ecstatic that our first film with RADiUS-TWC is also the first film we produced, and I'm looking forward to working with Harvey, Bob, Jason, and Tom on the release,” echoes Calder.

Check out the new poster below, and look for more release details soon!

A-Chuan won’t speak, won’t eat, and can’t even go to the toilet on his own. One day his father returns from work to find A-Chuan sitting in the corner and his daughter, Yan, dead in the middle of a pool of blood. In an unfamiliar, eerily calm voice, A-Chuan says, “I saw this body was empty so I moved in.” Wang is trapped. His wife died years ago, and A-Chuan is now the last remaining member of his family. Wang is unwilling to turn his only son in to the police and too scared to take him to the hospital, so he buries Yan’s corpse in an unmarked grave in the mountains. Wang drugs his son’s food, and when he passes out, Wang locks him in a hidden cottage. Then he has to deal with Yan’s husband, who shows up, concerned about his missing wife. To keep his son safe, Wang kills his son-in-law, and he and A-Chuan settle into a peaceful routine, father and son, jailor and jailed. At night ghosts visit A-Chuan in the cottage and talk to him. Events reach a gruesome conclusion when the police show up, looking for Yan and her husband.

The Walking Dead: Robert Kirkman Talks Showrunner Situation; New Stills from Ep. 3.13 - Arrow on the Doorpost

If there's one thing that'more controversial than the content of AMC's "The Walking Dead," it's the revolving showrunner door that's been in motion since Season 1.

Today creator Robert Kirkman had some words about the newest head honcho, Scott Gimple.

In a recent interview with Zap2It, Kirkman dropped the following on fans...

"I think having Scott Gimple come up and become an executive producer and showrunner is gonna provide a very tremendous voice for the show. I think it's gonna give us a clear path moving forward. He's been an integral part of the writers room since the beginning of Season 2. I think we've got some really exciting times ahead of us under his leadership."

"When that slot opened up, he was obviously the clear choice. You know he also wrote the episode where Sophia comes out of the barn ["Pretty Much Dead Already"]. A lot of the key moments that fans love that are constantly talked about are things he was a very big part of in the room and in some cases ended up writing directly into the episodes. He's been a really strong asset to us and was the clear choice."

Kirkman continues, "Scott has a really amazing vision for where the show goes. He has it sort of fully mapped out. He's collaborative; he's an amazing writer and amazing producer. We really couldn't be luckier to have him as our new showrunner."

Monster X to Be The Avengers of Horror

No, we're not talking about giant space monster Guilala joining forces with other Kaiju, but damn it, that would be cool. Instead, the crew behind the upcoming The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and a Zappa are looking to unleash a new beast!

According to THR, Chris Bender, J.S. Spink, and Jake Weiner are teaming up with Ahmet Zappa for Monster X. Benderspink has optioned the script from Monsterfoot Productions, with the project based on an original idea by Monsterfoot principal Ahmet Zappa.

The idea is a sort of Avengers-style take on the classic monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein’s creature, Mr. Hyde, and others. (There are 10 in total, and the X in the title is actually the Roman numeral 10.) The who’s who of monsters are assembled to defend humanity against an even greater threat to them all.

Zappa co-wrote the initial script. The plan is to further develop the script before taking it out to buyers.

Look for more on this one as it comes. In the meantime check out the glorious Guilala (aka The X from Outer Space) in action below!

Next Ghost Rider Film to Speed Off Without Nicolas Cage

Yep, most of us are still trying to figure out just what the hell went wrong with the last flick in the Ghost Rider franchise, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and even though it was pretty terrible, it probably won't stop Hollywood from making another. But...

Collider caught up with Nicolas Cage doing press for The Croods, and the actor had some pretty interesting things to say regarding the possibility of a third film.

It’s possible, but it won’t be with me,” said Cage. “I’ve said what I have to say. I don’t want to say never…anything’s possible. But I doubt, highly, that I would be in a third installment of that.”

To date Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance has raked in over $132 million before home video sales, and it only cost $47 million to make. That makes for prime sequel territory, kids. Would you check out a third film without Cage? Lord knows we would!
