With another Wednesday hanging over our heads like a little black raincloud, we could all use a break to enjoy the happier things in life. You know, like independent horror flicks! Case in point: Check out your first look at The Happy House.

Directed by D.W. Young, this latest horror comedy stars Khan Baykal, Aya Cash, Marceline Hugot, Kathleen McNenny, Oliver Henzler, Mike Houston, Charles Borland, Stivi Paskoski, Curtis Shumaker, Leah Lawrence, and Luca B. Henzler.

Synopsis
A young Brooklyn couple whose relationship is on the rocks heads upstate to a remote B&B to work things out. The plan is ill-conceived from the start. Arriving at The Happy House, they soon begin to suspect they’ve wandered into a real life horror movie. From there events go from weird to terrifying as they contend with the house's batty owner, her imposing son, a moody Swedish lepidopterist, a pedantic English professor, an extraordinarily rare butterfly, the world's best blueberry muffins, a .44 Magnum, a demented serial killer, and one very strict rulebook.

In 1971 director Ted V. Mikels brought the world the cult classic The Corpse Grinders. In 2000 he returned with a sequel cleverly titled The Corpse Grinders 2. Now Mikels is going to the well for a third time with - you guessed it - The Corpse Grinders 3!

This time, though, Mikels will only be serving as executive producer as he's turned the directorial reins over to Manolito Motosierra. John Martino, Richard Lester, and Pedro García Oliva star in the movie. which is set to make its DVD debut on May 28, 2013.

We still have two episodes to get through before the Season 4 finale of "The Vampire Diaries," entitled "Graduation, airs on The CW, but TV Guide got ahold of the first image from the episode, and we have a look at it for you right here.

Of course the big question is will Elena get her humanity back, and in the photo below she does appear to have something emotional going on with Damon. We'll have to wait until May 16th to find out for sure, but executive producer Julie Plec shared a few tidbits with the Guide: "We have a lot of questions on the table about Elena. Is she stuck this way forever? Is she ever going to turn her humanity back on? If she does, will the sire bond be back in effect or gone? If it's gone, what are her feelings for Damon vs. her feelings for Stefan? The whole season has been trying to get Elena back to who she was, so everything will be answered in the finale."

Aftershock (review), an earthquake thriller scripted by Cabin Fever and Hostel's Eli Roth, Nicolas Lopez, and Guillermo Amoedo, revolves around an insane asylum on an island, where the inmates escape during the quake.

It’s the next "Eli Roth Presents" film, and it marks the English-language debut from director Nicolas Lopez. His last two films, Que Pena Tu Vida and Que Pena Tu Boda, were the highest-grossing Chilean films of 2010 and 2011. Roth most recently produced The Last Exorcism, a microbudget film that grossed $70 million worldwide.

Roth and Lopez wrote the story together, inspired by the latter’s experience when an earthquake devastated Chile in 2010. In his first big acting role since Inglourious Basterds, Roth plays the lead. Among the other cast is Selena Gomez, who was in Chile doing a concert and came over to do a cameo. Lopez’s frequent collaborators Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez, and Lorenza Izzo also star along with Natasha Yarovenko, Andrea Osvart, and Miguel Asensio.

Look for it in theatres on May 10th.

We told you a while back that The Scream Factory would be releasing both Scanners II: The New Order and Scanners III: The Takeover on Blu-ray and DVD this fall, and now we have some artwork to dig on!

The 1991 direct-to-video sequel Scanners II: The New Order starred David Hewlett of future “Stargate” TV fame and Deborah Raffin (Death Wish 3) in a tale about a mild-mannered scanner mixed up in a government conspiracy involving evil Scanners plotting a coup. Its lesser 1992 follow-up Scanners III: The Takeover starred no one in particular and dealt with a sibling rivalry between good and evil scanners.

Hopefully one day we'll see the original flick get the Blu-ray treatment it richly deserves. Fingers crossed!

ACW Games' Zombie Squash HD Free is the first official release of Zombie Squash at iTunes.

George A. Romero, the Godfather of All Zombies, provides the voice of the games' lead villain, Dr. B. E. Vil. Since his ground-breaking, trendsetting masterpiece, ‘Night of the Living Dead’ George Romero’s name has become synonymous with zombies. This time around, Romero creates a new cartoon-style voice in Zombie Squash as an evil scientist.

ACW Owner Attila Juhasz created Zombie Squash, a world where vegetation has gone wild from evil experiments gone wrong. Zombie Squash is a tower defense style game where the Player is a rabbit named Jack Stompingtail who fires carrots, zucchini and other garden ammo at Dr. B. E. Vil’s horde of gorde onslaught. The player has to try and stop the Zombie Squash from taking over the world.

The soundtrack was written and produced by Billboard charting producer Roy Z, known for his stellar work with Judas Priest, Sepultura, Halford and Bruce Dickinson.

An extended full-paid version is being finalized with hopes of a mid-December release.

As we told you a few weeks ago, Matthan Harris'The Inflicted (review here) is being released on DVD May 21st from Osiris Entertainment, and to get you ready for it, we have a pair to clips to share.

Synopsis:

In adulthood David becomes a psychopath, like his father, and starts kidnapping young women while enrolled in a medical school in Dallas.

David rapes and impregnates one of his victims, Melissa Daniels, in an attempt to replace the family that he lost as a young boy. However, the Dallas Police track down the location of David’s warehouse and rescue Melissa. Enraged, David seeks guidance from his estranged father, and they devise a plan to reclaim David’s "family." Meanwhile, the FBI has added David to their Most Wanted list and joins forces with the Dallas Police in order to catch him. David is hell-bent on getting custody of his baby, Jessica, and he goes on a murderous rampage in an attempt to get her back.

Synopsis
From the creators of the award-winning short Velvet Road, Copiii: The 1st Entry is a film based on Romanian folklore that dates back to the 1500s. It was used by parents as a way to keep children from sneaking out or acting up. The story itself is about a gypsy woman named Alina Patkavior, who was the victim of a brutal rape. The act drove her insane, forcing her to attempt to take her own life. When the woman was ready to commit suicide, a vengeance demon appeared. The demon told her that he would wipe away her pain by giving these men the truly horrible fate they deserved. In return, he would return to claim her child after one year. A year later, Alina had grown to love and care for the child. When the vengeance demon returned to claim her child's life, she double-crossed him by refusing to turn the child over. The demon cursed Alina and her people, making it impossible for them to bear children. The group of gypsies came to be known as Copiii Pierdere, meaning 'the loss of a child' or 'lost children' in Romanian.

When Alina's child became a man and married, he wanted desperately to be a father. The man summoned the same demon that his mother betrayed in an attempt to make amends and lift the curse. The demon told him that while he would not lift the curse, there was a way he could still raise children of his own. The only way he or any member of the Copiii Pierdere could have children was to shed blood in the demon's name, in the form of a cursed ritual. This ritual was named Din Burta de Sarpe, Romanian for 'belly of a snake.' The first time the man performed the ritual, he was horrified to find that it drove a loving couple of villagers insane to the point of death, leaving their unborn child unharmed beside their corpses. Disgusted as he was at his own actions, he took the infant and raised it as his own and passed this gruesome act through his family's bloodline. This year will be the 500-year anniversary of the creation of Copiii Pierdere and the Din Burta de Sarpe. Some believe that their power is growing stronger because of this occasion.

It looks like putting "Grimm" on Tuesday was a good move for NBC as the show got a nice boost in the ratings. At the same time we humans got a possible explanation for alien sightings! Read on for more details and a look at the Wesen known as the Raub-Kondor and the Gluhenvolk.

Per TV by the Numbers, the 10-11PM Tuesday timeslot premiere of "Grimm" scored a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating, up a big 54% from last Friday’s 1.3 and up 100% from "Ready for Love"’s 1.0 from last week. It was "Grimm"’s highest rated episode since October 26, 2012.

Now, as for that alien thing, in last night Episode 2.19, "Endangered," we met the Gluhenvolk, an extremely rare reptilian creature that is hunted for its luminescent skin. In this case its pursuer was a fierce, black-feathered creature known as a Raub-Kondor. Because of their appearance, Gluhenvolk are often misidentified by humans as aliens from another planet. Check out the videos profiling the Gluhenvolk and Raub-Kondor below, and be sure to tune in next week for Episode 2.20, "Kiss of the Muse."

A COPYCAT MURDER CONFOUNDS JACK AND COMPOUNDS HIS GRIEF OVER THE PROSPECT OF LOSING HIS WIFE, PROMPTING HIM TO SEEK HELP FROM HANNIBAL - Jack (Laurence Fishburne) and Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) are contacted by a former colleague, Dr. Chilton (Raul Esparza), who believes he has the Chesapeake Ripper in custody; but then one of his patients commits a murder that matches the Ripper's profile. The team determines the Ripper was a surgeon and is still at large when Jack’s former protégé, Miriam (Anna Chlumsky), becomes the next victim. Jack copes with her loss and the prospect of losing his wife by opening up to Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen). Lara Jean Chorostecki and Eddie Izzard guest star.

During this extremely uneven Season 4 of "The Vampire Diaries," one thing that has been consistent is the chemistry between Claire Holt's Rebekah and Zach Roerig's Matt, which is on display in this clip from tomorrow's Episode 4.21, "She's Come Undone."

LET’S MAKE A DEAL — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) try a brutal new approach to provoke Elena (Nina Dobrev) into turning her humanity back on, and Caroline (Candice Accola) is frustrated when her attempt to intervene backfires. When Elena figures out a way to call the Salvatore brothers’ bluff, they call for backup from a surprising source.

Matt (Zach Roerig) gives Rebekah (Claire Holt) some unsolicited advice on her life choices, and she tries to help him in return. Caroline has a confusing and dangerous encounter with Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and Katherine (Nina Dobrev) is suspicious when Bonnie (Kat Graham) makes her an offer that she promises will benefit them both.
