Playing as part of the horror lineup at The Stanley Film Festival, which is now under way at the iconic and legendary Stanley Hotel in Colorado, is the new film from Larry Fessenden entitled Beneath, and we've got a new poster and the trailer for you.

Daniel Zovatto stars. Fessenden will be on hand at the big dance to intro the movie and participate in a Q&A.

Synopsis

Some interesting news is coming in from Rob Zombie that's likely going to have some fans protesting and others falling to their knees and thanking the heavens above. Sounds like the rocker turned filmmaker is done with making horror movies.

The Phoenix New Times asked Zombie if he ever plans on doing another monster movie. Zombie's response:

"No. I'm not really thinking of doing anything... Lords of Salem is my last sort of horror-genre related film for a really long time."

Seriously, though, we'd take that with a grain of salt as Zombie is notorious for saying one thing and then doing another. This was the guy who swore he'd never do a remake after all. One thing's for sure: For better or worse Rob does his own thing regardless of what anyone says, and we at least have to give him credit for that.

Time will tell.

Fresh off of drawing rave reviews for his directing duties on "Hannibal," David Slade is headed back to the big screen for a new film called The Widow. Read on for the first details, and look for much more soon!

THR reports that Slade (pictured; Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night) has come aboard to direct the flick for Vendome Pictures. Penned by Ray Wright, the psychological thriller centers on a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence.

Vendome CEO Philippe Rousselet will produce the film alongside Steve Golin and Alix Madigan of Anonymous Content. Vendome is financing the film, with plans to commence production later this year. The project is out to actresses.

"We are thrilled to be working on this piece with David. He is such a dynamic filmmaker, and we are excited about his vision to make this movie a throwback to some of the most iconic thrillers in cinematic history -- not to mention the two females leads being the strongest and most interesting we have seen in some time," Rousselet said.

We've lightened up our coverage of BBC America's "Orphan Black" as it's really more sci-fi/thriller than pure horror, but since it does fit in our wheelhouse a bit, we thought we'd share the news of its renewal for another season.

BBC AMERICA has renewed highly acclaimed original series "Orphan Black" for a second season to return as part of Supernatural Saturday in 2014. The conspiracy clone thriller starring Tatiana Maslany has been re-commissioned with a 10-episode order from Temple Street Productions, ahead of its Season One finale on Saturday, June 1.

The music world suffered a shocking loss today as Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman has passed away at the all too young age of just 49 due to liver failure. Read on for details and some words from his surviving bandmates.

Sadly Hanneman hadn't been a touring member of the iconic metal band since 2011, when he contracted necrotizing fasciitis (the flesh-eating disease).

The band issued the following statement via their Facebook page:

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

Producer Chad A. Verdi had already assembled a memorable cast for his current project, Army of the Damned, but the man behind Woodhaven Productions refuses to rest on his laurels.

Verdi has now added former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis and the infamous Jasmine St. Claire to the project.

Everyone has a favorite wrestling diva, but it is this writer's opinion that there has never been a more drop-dead gorgeous creature to enter the squared circle than Maria Kanellis. She is absolutely stunning, and as you can see by the still shot from Army of the Damned below, she's got no trouble getting into the action of a bloody horror film.

Kanellis and St. Claire are added to a very interesting cast. Verdi stated, "We have a very eclectic group of actors on this project: horror legends, rock and pop stars, TV and wrestling superstars, Playboy Playmates and the list goes on. This is by far my best film."

Verdi Productions and The Woodhaven Production Company announce that filmmaker Chad A. Verdi attached Maria Kanellis (WWE superstar, "Celebrity Apprentice," Playboy) and Jasmine St. Claire (Swamp Zombies!!!, Dorm Daze 2, Coalition) to his current film Army of the Damned. They will be joining actors Tony Todd, Michael Berryman, Joey Fatone, Sully Erna, Tommy Dreamer, Thea Trinidad, Nick Principe, David Chokachi, David Gere, Tom Paolino, Jessica Scott Lussier, Ben Gracia, Billy Vigeant, and Anthony Estrella.

David Gere and Seth Rosenblit are joining Mr. Verdi and Gino Pereira as producers on the project. The film was written by Tom DeNucci, who will also direct, and photographed by cinematographer Sam Eilertsen. Michelle Verdi is the music supervisor for the film with executive producers Carl Dupre, David Lussier and Sherry Lussier.

Synopsis
Army of the Damned tells the story of a hit reality TV crew following a group of local cops in a sleepy town. Things go horribly wrong for the cops when they respond to a call that brings a whole new meaning to the term "domestic disturbance." Faced with life and death situations, these officers are forced to throw the rule book out in order to stay alive. With the help of a reclusive hermit and a petty criminal, the lawmen do all they can to serve, protect and avoid joining the Army of the Damned.

Verdi's latest films, Infected and Self-Storage, are being released through Screen Media and will each reach over 100 million homes through Universal's VOD platform starting this month.

That rumbling you feel is not your stomach hankering for breakfast (or lunch depending on your time zone). It's the vibe given off by the new shaker from Eli Roth and Nicolas Lopez, Aftershock. Check out this new poster!

Aftershock (review), an earthquake thriller scripted by Cabin Fever and Hostel's Eli Roth, Nicolas Lopez, and Guillermo Amoedo, revolves around an insane asylum on an island, where the inmates escape during the quake.

It’s the next "Eli Roth Presents" film, and it marks the English-language debut from director Nicolas Lopez. His last two films, Que Pena Tu Vida and Que Pena Tu Boda, were the highest-grossing Chilean films of 2010 and 2011. Roth most recently produced The Last Exorcism, a microbudget film that grossed $70 million worldwide.

Roth and Lopez wrote the story together, inspired by the latter’s experience when an earthquake devastated Chile in 2010. In his first big acting role since Inglourious Basterds, Roth plays the lead. Among the other cast is Selena Gomez, who was in Chile doing a concert and came over to do a cameo. Lopez’s frequent collaborators Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez, and Lorenza Izzo also star along with Natasha Yarovenko, Andrea Osvart, and Miguel Asensio.

Look for it in theatres on May 10th.

Netflix is enjoying high viewership for its original series "Hemlock Grove" and "House of Cards," so much so that they're looking to continue on with original programming on a grand scale by possibly resurrecting some gone too soon titles and more.

In an interview with Stuff.TV, Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos was asked what other properties he'd like to see make a comeback via the service. It was recently announced that "Arrested Development" would be getting a new season via the service, and here's where things get interesting... It's no secret that "Arrested Development" creator Ron Howard has also been circling Stephen King’s "The Dark Tower" so is there any chance Netflix could pick it up? Sarandos teased, "I spoke to Ron about it, actually. The last time we talked about it, the thing was being kicked about HBO – but it’s no longer there. Once 'Arrested Development' gets through, we’ll keep talking about it."

Pertaining to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Sarandos said, "That’s one that’ll come up on everyone’s list. She’s a great character. If it was my property, I’d do infrequent movies. There’s not enough kick-ass female characters like that." He added a resounding "Absolutely!" when asked about the potential resurrection of "Twin Peaks."

American Mary star Katharine Isabelle and “Sanctuary”'s Robin Dunne are teaming up for a new terror-filled project for Filmax International, and we have the first details ready and waiting to Torment you right here!

Variety reports that the Barcelona production-distribution-sales house announced that Dunne and Isabelle (pictured) will topline Torment, which is directed by Jordan Barker (The Marsh, Duress).

The flick will be produced by Canada’s Gearshift Films in association with Parachute and sold abroad by Filmax Intl. The home invasion slasher went into production on May 1st. Filmax distributes in Spain.

Marlon Wayans' sequel to A Haunted House has landed itself a release date and will hit theatres on March 28, 2014. But will you be there to hit back? If only for shits and giggles?

Marlon Wayans stated, "I'm excited about the release date of March 28th -- just in time for inebriated spring breakers to take a break from partying to laugh their asses off then get back to partying."

The original A Haunted House took in around $40 million worldwide and will be debuting on home video on August 23rd. That being said, Variety is reporting that Open Road Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to spoof sequel A Haunted House 2, starring Marlon Wayans, who is also co-writing the script.

Production of the sequel will take place this summer, and Open Road will release it nationwide next winter. Look for more on this one as it comes.

On Tuesday, May 7th, the teaser trailer for Ender's Game is being released, but today we have a sneak peek of it introduced by stars Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield.

Directed by James DeMonaco (writer of Assault on Precinct 13 and The Negotiator), The Purge is produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister) and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form (The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) as well as Sébastien Kurt Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13). It stars Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, and Adelaide Kane.

Synopsis
In an America wracked by crime, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—is legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It is one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.
