After a successful festival run which included a premiere during the 2011 SxSW Film Festival last March and stops at other prestigious fests like AFI and Toronto, co-writer and director Ben Wheatley's latest feature film Kill List finally arrived in limited theaters last week courtesy of IFC Films (the flick is also currently available on VOD if you can't see it on the big screen).

In honor of its theatrical release, Dread Central caught up with Wheatley last Friday for a quick chat on the mysteries of Kill List and heard more from the filmmaker about collaborating with his cast, the dualities of human nature, inventing an entire religion and more about the secrets of the controversial movie.

Wheatley also briefly chatted about his contribution for the upcoming horror anthology The ABC's of Death as well as why he's taking a brief break from the world of horror to work on a dark comedy next that's centered on the world of serial killers.

It's a really tearful day for fans of George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Just hours after announcing the passing of Bill Hinzman, even more sad news has come our way.

Born in 1918, Russ and Gary Streiner's mother, Josephine Streiner, has passed away. Josephine (pictured right) played one of the ghouls in the film, and it was her car that Barbara wrecked while trying to escape Hinzman's graveyard ghoul.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest condolences to Josephine's friends, family, and constituents. Rest in peace, madame, and thank you for helping to feed the creative fires of a bunch of crazy filmmakers back in 1968 who would go one to create one of the most important films of our time.

Any fans of the film Son of Terror will be happy to know that director Antony DeGennaro is at it again, and his newest film, Sisterhood of Death, is about to be unleashed on the unsuspecting public.

Sisterhood of Death marks DeGennaro's second directorial effort. The film stars Larry Laverty, Dolores Rogers, Ashley Morrison and Ricco DiStefano. Check out some additional info at the Sisterhood of Death Facebook page.

Synopsis
The film follows Franky, the prowling tom cat, and Jessica, Franky's dream girl, in a story of lust and deception, it's a twisted look at what men and women think about each other out there on the streets of life.

Apparently people are still clamoring for a sequel to Machete because Robert Rodriguez is teaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky for Machete Kills with an eye toward an April start date. And they're not stopping there either; the plan is for a trilogy.

Per Deadline the film will be produced and financed by Rodnyansky, whose Hollywood expansion plans include a $120 million film fund with Media Talent Group’s Geyer Kosinski. AR Films U.S. is a new partnership between AR Films and Aldamisa Entertainment, whose Sergei Bespalov will manage worldwide sales of Machete Kills during the upcoming EFM in Berlin.

“The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance,” Rodriguez said. “Machete is truly a superhero, and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time. Alexander has a tremendous background in moviemaking and huge enthusiasm for continuing the Machete legend onscreen,” Rodriguez continued. “I’m really looking forward to working with Alexander and Sergei Bespalov.”

Of course talks are under way for Danny Trejo to reprise the title role, and Rodriguez expects many other original cast members to return. The film is a Quick Draw Production, produced by Rodriguez, Rodnyansky, Quick Draw’s Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic, Sergei Bespalov, and Rick Schwartz. A script has been written by Kyle Ward and developed by Rodriguez and Marcel Rodriguez.

The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.

From there it's time to get cozy with the latest from Mezco Toyz's Cinema of Fear Creepy Cuddlers: The plush doll lineup includes Freddy, Jason, Billy the Saw puppet and Chucky! We'll also see mini plush clip-ons with the same four creepers.

Now, on to the stuff that has this particular writer chomping at the bit! Did you really think Mezco would get a dream license like Universal Monsters and JUST use it on Living Dead Dolls? Prepare for what appear to be stylized vinyl figures of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy and Frankenstein's monster as well as a Mega Deluxe Vinyl Frankenstein Figure! I will start saving up for these NOW...and I want them all.

Some of the most memorable music videos have been horror-themed. Perhaps the most popular video of all time is Michael Jackson's "Thriller", and it doesn't get much more like a scary movie than that. Or how about Metallica's "One" video? Psychologically scary stuff. Mina Fedora now has her own spooky video to show you.

We recently got word about the video for the up-and-coming artist's song "Nightwatch", which plays out like a slasher/haunted house film, and thought we'd share. Directed by Neil Kellen and Lewis D. Chaney, the video stars Larissa Ross, Rusty James, Derek Mullins, Seth Cheek, Cindy Maples, and Megan (Jones) McGregor along with Fedora. The F/X were handled by Dave Snyder.

While the name Morgan Jones may not exactly jump out at you, we can pretty much guarantee that if you're a fan of vintage horror and science fiction, his face and his body of work will be instantly recognizable.

Variety reports that Jones, a character actor in TV and film, died in Tarzana, California, on January 13th. He was 84.

Jones amassed more than 170 television credits, appearing as a series regular in "The Blue Angels" in the early 1960s, "The Twilight Zone", and recurring on Broderick Crawford series "Highway Patrol." The actor also appeared in more than 25 feature films, including The Giant Claw, Forbidden Planet, and the 1957 cult classic Not of This Earth.

According to Variety, New Line and director James Wan are tapping the Twilight and Dark Knight franchises for youngsters to star in horror film The Warren Files, signing up Mackenzie Foy and Joey King to play members of the true-life Perron family.

The Perrons claimed they "lived among the dead" in the 1970s as spirits - both friendly and sinister - inhabited their Rhode Island farmhouse. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are playing the investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Lilli Taylor and Ron Livingston will portray the Perrons.

Shooting is scheduled to start on February 21st in North Carolina. More as it comes!

Syfy wasn't kidding when they said this season of "Being Human" is all about temptation! Last night's episode took a really dark turn down that path, and from what's shown in this preview and clip from Episode 2.05, "Addicted to Love", it doesn't look like things will be changing soon.

Aidan and Suren's (guest star Dichen Lachman) love affair heats up while Sally gets tangled in her own love triangle.

In the clip Josh walks into the kitchen and notices Sally with her head down on the counter and jokes about having a rough night. Sally finally lifts her head and looks shockingly pale. She says she’s been experimenting with a woman, using her body to do things she is not able to do as a ghost.

In "Being Human" leading normal lives is a lot harder than it looks for three roommates – vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath), and werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) – who share their secrets and a Boston brownstone. In Season 2 the three continue to struggle with their supernatural double lives and discover that temptation truly is a beast! Sally learns how to take over the body of others and slowly becomes addicted, Josh is still learning how to control his rage and still has Nora to account for, and Aidan doesn’t quite know how to deal with becoming the new leader of Boston.

It's easy to forget just how fragile we are, but every now and again an event occurs that serves as a reminder that we should live every day to its fullest. Case in point: what happened to Clive Barker a couple of weeks ago.

About 15 days ago Barker posted the following to his Twitter account: "Dear Friends, I've had some medical issues that have recently forced me away from my beloved desk and into the hospital. But do not worry ... I will be home soon and back to causing trouble! My apologies for being off the radar!"

After that there was nothing but silence... until today when Barker resurfaced with this harrowing tale that thankfully had a happy ending.

"My friends,Clive here.I'm at home now after a while in hospital,thanks to a nearly fatal case of Toxic Shock brought on by a visit to my dentist. Apparently this is not uncommon. In my case the dental work unloaded such a spillage of poisonous bacteria into my blood that my whole system crashed, putting me into a coma. I spent several days in Intensive Care, with a machine breathing for me. Later, my Doctors said that they had not anticipated a happy ending until I started to fight, repeatedly pulling out the tubes that I was constantly gagging on. After a few days of nightmarish delusions I woke up to my life again, tired, twenty pounds lighter, but happy to be back from a very dark place. And here in the world I intend to stay. I've books to write, films to make and paintings to paint. I seem to have come home with my sight clearer somehow, and my sense of purpose intensified. Thank you all for your messages.your prayers and love.What better reason to wake to life than knowing I have such friends? Again,thank you. My love to you always. Clive."

Phew, talk about a close call. Get well soon, Clive. You're a feisty one, and the world is a delightfully darker place with you in it!

Cee Lo Green. This dude is friggin' everywhere lately. The Super Bowl, "The Voice", the Burger King drive-thru. And now? Mr. F You is about to get wrapped up in Sony's latest animated feature Hotel Transylvania in 3D!

Over on Facebook Sony released some concept art of The Mummy (see below) which features what Cee Lo could look like as an overweight long dead Egyptian who sounds like a silky voiced black man.

Sony Picture Animation’s Hotel Transylvania stars Adam Sandler as the famous blood-sucker Dracula, who builds the titular resort for all manner of monsters (and their families) as a way of keeping his daughter, Mavis (Miley Cyrus), from venturing out into the real world. Things get tricky after a regular guy (voiced by Andy Samberg) ends up at the hotel.

Aiming for release September 21, 2012, Genndy Tartakovsky's 3D animated kid flick also features the talents of Javier Bardem.

Synopsis
Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: He is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis (Cyrus), Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy (Green), the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy (Samberg) stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Alan Tudyk and Robin McLeavy.

Fox is aiming at a June 22nd, 2012, release for the Tim Burton-produced horror adventure.

Synopsis
The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war - and ultimately to the presidency - he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.

"Lost Girl" seems to be doing pretty well for Syfy, especially with "Being Human" as its lead-in, and in the next episode we'll be getting a bit more back story on lead character Bo. Check out a preview of and a clip from Episode 1.05, "Dead Lucky".

Bo stands to learn the secrets of her past when a Dark Fae with a problem comes calling.

In the clip Bo discusses being van-napped with her culprit, and in turn he asks for her help. He claims that his niece, Cassy, is an oracle and can help her figure out her past, though upon her entrance, she doesn’t seem cut out for the job.

Splatterpunk icon John Skipp has always been one to be on the cutting edge of our genre. There's just no one like him. Last July we told you about his latest digital print venture, Ravenous Shadows, and today the official word has come.

There are a lot of West Memphis Three projects currently under way, but considering this latest one is based on a book by Damien Echols (himself one of the WM3) and is being developed by Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, we'd say it's likely to garner the lion's share of attention.

Per Deadline, Depp and his producing partner, Christi Dembrowski, have optioned film rights to a soon-to-be-published and as-yet-untitled book by Damien Echols, which reveals his experiences on death row after his wrongful conviction and subsequent wrongful 18-year imprisonment for the 1993 murder of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. The memoir will be published in September 2012 by Blue Rider Press, an imprint of Penguin Books.

The injustice of the West Memphis Three story drew badly needed support from the entertainment community’s Peter Jackson, Eddie Vedder, Natalie Maines, Henry Rollins, and of course Depp. He and Dembrowski have long been wanting and waiting to explore this story and will develop the narrative as a feature film with Echols and his wife, Lorri Davis, executive producing. Their collective take is to spotlight the controversial conviction and imprisonment of the then 18-year-old who is now in his mid-30s and to present his life before conviction as well its twists and turns leading to release.

A documentary film produced in 1996, Paradise Lost, helped to shed light on the wrongful convictions, and an investigation provided critical information that finally helped the West Memphis Three achieve freedom in August 2011. That formed the basis of director Amy Berg’s upcoming 2012 feature documentary West of Memphis, produced by filmmaker Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. Now Depp is cinematically involved with this option deal negotiated by UTA on behalf of Infinitum Nihil and by Henry Dunow at Dunow, Carlson & Lerner Agency and Sylvie Rabineau at RWSG Literary on behalf of the author.
