At The Seen and The Unseen, we’re fascinated by the idea of other universes and other worlds. Many paranormal theories and explanations consider the possibility of other worlds as an assumption. It seems as if science is starting to catch up with the storytellers and ghost hunters.

Last week the Daily Mail (cool color pictures included!) reported that scientists announced their first “hard evidence” of other universes. The evidence is based on some startling findings from the Planck spacecraft.

The scientists mapped out the cosmic radiation in the universe. As they did, they found “cold spots” in the radiation, which many theoretical physicists believe would be there if other universes existed. The reason? The gravitational pull of these other worlds would pull away heat from our own universe.

Those cold spots have been found in the cosmic radiation map from the current study.

Dr. Mersini-Houghton, theoretical physicist at University of North Carolina, states, “These anomalies were caused by other universes pulling on our universe as it formed during the Big Bang. They are the first hard evidence for the existence of other universes that we have seen."

So the question really is... will Aslan emerge from these universes? Or will the “Old Ones” led by Cthulhu and his tentacled madness come to makes us his cosmic slaves?

A trunkload of new images from Hatchet III found their way onto our desks, and we're still cleaning up all the blood that they left behind. Check 'em out right now. But you may wanna lay down some plastic first!

HATCHET III is set to open in New York City's Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Music Hall on June 14th. Opening week will feature special appearances by cast and crew, followed by Q&A's at each location. Additional cities will be announced at a later date.

Synopsis:
Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return in HATCHET III and are joined by Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), and others.

HATCHET III continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

The sequel, which was filmed outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, from late May to mid-June, 2012, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films and Hatchet III writer/executive producer Adam Green's Los Angeles-based ArieScope Pictures.

Electronic Arts and Insomniac Games have announced that players can step into the sci-fi fun of Fuse which is now available for Xbox 360 and PS3. Players can assume the role of four operatives who are tasked with collecting a batch of Xenotech weapons powered by an alien energy source before they are used to take over the world.

Fans of music in games will be excited to know that the first Game Music Connect event is scheduled to take place on September 9th in London at the Southbank Centre's Purcell Room. The event will feature a long list of horror game composers such as Jason Graves (Dead Space series) and a closer look at scoring for next-gen consoles.

What Remains is an epic live action series produced by Manifest Film. The web series is not endorsed by or affiliated in any way with Naughty Dog or any Sony company. WHAT REMAINS is a unique piece of content chronicling the journey of three unlikely friends as they attempt to survive in a world 10 years after a new strain of fungus as all but wiped out the human race. This series asks the question: "What does it mean to be human when humanity's time has passed?"

Introducing the Characters

David
David is one of the sole remaining survivors who has chosen to exist outside of the safety of human colonies in a post apocalyptic world overrun by the fungal infection. He is a stubborn, sultry survivor, and it has been quite some time since he last saw another human unafflicted by the fungus. He lives in a box truck which he uses to travel around town, gathering supplies he needs to survive. In this story he represents a piece of humanity which is too stubborn to let go, even though the world has passed him by. It is through his perspective that we are able to see the world through a traditional perspective, as he holds to the belief that humanity may once again recover to its former glory, and he will do anything he can to help it reclaim that position.

Alex
Alex is searching for her brother after a tragic accident left them separated outside the safety of one of the last human colonies. She is aware of his unique ability to resist the fungus, even though it has left him in a condition that may or may not be beyond saving. Alex represents the value of family as a source of hope when all other light has gone from the world. She is a headstrong, no nonsense fighter with a dry sense of humor. Her chief concern is reuniting with her brother, and bringing him to safety. She hopes that by way of his unique condition there may be some salvation for humanity after all.

Andre
Andre is Alex's brother. During an incident some time prior to the events of this story, he and his sister were separated, as he chose to defend a position after becoming wounded so she could escape. He has since developed a unique resistance to the fungus, as is able to walk on both sides of the line between human and the infection. He maintains his own free will, but is plagued with a calling to the other side. An eternal optimist, he represents the perspective of both humanity, and the fungus itself, as it is through his eyes that we gain a sense of the purpose behind the fungal outbreak.

The Fungus
A new strain of Cordyceps, a parasitic fungus which affects its host by altering its brain and causing it to spread. These creatures have all but wiped out humanity either by way of violent killings, or the spreading of infection. Upon infection, the human host's brain develops into spores, which are then expelled through the forehead thus spreading the infection to additional hosts. This story takes the perspective that these creatures share a collective consciousness, and communicate through the same thread of thought. This particular trait has been instrumental in the annihilation of the human race, but may eventually prove to be their undoing....

Here's the news that you have been waiting patiently for! That's right, kids! Hide your pots of gold (and - in reference to Leprechaun in the Hood - hide your pot too); a director has been found for WWE Films'Leprechaun reboot!

According to The Wrap, Lionsgate and WWE Studios have set visual-effects veteran Zach Lipovsky to direct Leprechaun, the long-awaited reboot of the successful horror franchise that launched the career of Jennifer Aniston.

Lipovsky was discovered as a contestant on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett's short-lived reality series "On the Lot," which saw 16 aspiring filmmakers compete for a development deal with DreamWorks.

The original Leprechaun, which featured comedic elements, followed an evil leprechaun searching for his pot of gold while avoiding four-leaf clovers. “The tone is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre; but at the same time this is really being played for scares,” said WWE president Michael Luisi in an earlier interview.

Producers are keeping details of Harris Wilkinson's script under wraps to keep the franchise's new direction a secret. As reported earlier WWE superstar Hornswaggle (pictured below) will be playing the titular title character.

We've already seen several trailers, a few clips, and big batches of stills from The Is the End so what's left to see? How about the first TV spot for the flick that brings us what's sure to be the funniest apocalypse ever?

Written and directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and starring Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill as themselves, This Is the End finds six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Once they discover that they are experiencing the Apocalypse, they must come to terms with why they were left behind. Eventually they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

Look for the flick in theatres on June 12th.

It's coming, kids! Faster than a demon barreling through the woods the remake of the Sam Raimi classic Evil Dead is hitting Blu-ray and DVD and we have the early word for you right here! Dig it!

Sony Pictures is unleashing the film onto Blu-ray and DVD with UltraViolet on July 16th. No word on if there will be an unrated cut included or not. Let's hope so. No one likes to double dip!

Ghost House Pictures produced the much anticipated remake of The Evil Dead, the film that effectively launched the careers of Sam Raimi (Spider-Man franchise, Darkman, Drag Me to Hell), Rob Tapert (30 Days of Night), and Bruce Campbell, who played the Ash character and was co-producer of the original. They are now back to produce an Evil Dead for today's audience that's high on the horror, gore, plot twists, and more from a screenplay written by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues with Diablo Cody. Executive producers are J.R. Young, Nathan Kahane, Joseph Drake, and Peter Schlessel.

Liev Schreiber (Scream 2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) alongside Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense, Rushmore), Romola Garai (One Day, Atonement), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island, Zodiac), Tom Cullen (Weekend), Goran Kostic (In the Land of Blood and Honey, Taken), and Johnny Harris (Snow White and the Huntsman) star in the film.

The thriller is being produced by Qwerty Films' Michael Kuhn (The Duchess, Being John Malkovich) and Andrea Cornwall (The Scouting Book for Boys).

The Last Days on Mars, which was previously titled The Animators, follows the story of an astronaut crew on Mars on the verge of a major breakthrough, having collected rock specimens that reveal microscopic evidence of life. In their last hours on the planet, two astronauts go back to a cavernous valley on the surface of Mars to collect further evidence for their discovery, but a routine excavation turns deadly when one of them falls to his death and his body is taken as a host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover.

Remember a few weeks ago when we told you that the sight of faux missiles headed toward the Godzilla set in Canada alarmed residents? Well, Warner Bros. and Legendary are now thinking ahead a bit. Everything will be fine. Just remain calm.

Screamfest Horror Film Festival takes place October 8-17, 2013, in Los Angeles. The winning screenplay will be announced on October 17 on the closing night of the festival. Screamfest Horror Film Festival was founded in 2001 to give up-and-coming filmmakers and writers a venue to showcase their work. Screamfest provides a great opportunity for them to have their work discovered just as Oren Peli, director and producer of Paranormal Activity, was discovered through his Paranormal Activity entry.

It’s no secret that we here at Dread Central are stalwart supporters of indie filmmakers so it’s a pleasure to bring you a first look at Peter Dukes’ engaging horror-comedy short Little Reaper as well as some exclusive stills, a poster, and word on his next project.

Written, directed and produced by Dukes, the film, a project by Dream Seekers Productions, stars Athena Baumeister in the titular role as the Grim Reaper’s (actor John Paul Ouvrier) teenage daughter, who when tasked with handling her patriarch’s daily duties, comes up rather short and with some rather amusing results. Actors John Michael Herndon, Katharine Stapleton, Allisyn Ashley Arm (of Disney channel fame), Katy Townsend and Sorsha Morava round out the cast.

“Death is a common theme in my work,” said Dukes of Little Reaper, which he funded with additional financing from Little Reaper executive producer Danny Derakhshan and associate producers Melissa Cottingham, Shane and Colin Mehigan and Justin Castillo.

“Not in any kind of macabre way, but it's just something that I think about often,” continued Dukes of his approach to the short, “like a big clock ticking over our heads throughout life. So, it was only a matter of time before I took on the (subject of the) Reaper! Some of my previous horror has been pretty heavy stuff; gloomy and psychological. But with this, I really wanted to be able to tell this story, but to also keep it light at the same time (and to) just throw caution to the wind and have fun with the whole thing. It was a process I very much enjoyed.”

Filmed in Burbank, CA, over the course of three days late last year and into 2013 on the Red Epic with cinematography by Drew Moe and makeup by artist Jeong-Hwa Fonkalsrud, Little Reaper features a score by Giona Ostinelli and music from Rend, Pop Noir and Mad Planet.

Intended as a stand-alone film, Dukes told us that he does however see the possibility of Little Reaper receiving a feature treatment.

“It's certainly something I've been mulling over,” Dukes told us. “I've been working on shorts for a long time, for a variety of reasons, and I do love them. However, the time has come (for me) to focus on feature films. I'm currently developing a feature werewolf film called The Beast (short below), based off a short film I did that received a tremendously positive response from critics and fans worldwide, particularly for such a small film. I'm also attached to direct an upcoming horror feature for Gothic Pictures International. Gabrielle Stone, Jessica Cameron and DJ Perry are attached as the leads. After that, we'll just see where the road takes me.”

Hot on the heels of me being completely offended by Sadako 3D (review), word has come that a sequel is not only on its way, but it's hitting Japanese theatres on August 30th. There is, however, one bright spot to this debacle.

We've got some good news and some bad news for you, kids. Let's start with the bad... Tsutomu Hanabusa (Sadako 3D) is once again directing. Yeah, that hurts. It hurts a lot. However, original Ring author Kôji Suzuki. That's something, right? Miori Takimoto stars.

We'll bring you more on this one as soon as we get it, if only because we're hoping that the involvement of Suzuki can finally steer this ship back on course. Well, that and we are gluttons for punishment. Stay tuned.

Synopsis
Fuko Ando (Miori Takimoto), a 24-year-old graduate student in psychology, is tasked to care for her 4-year-old niece. Soon mysterious events begin to occur around her niece. Fuko Ando then learns of an incident involving a cursed video that took place five years earlier and soon finds herself involved with the cursed video.

Well, this is some interesting casting news we didn't see coming! Three more fairly big names have been added to the cast of the currently shooting The Human Centipede 3: Final Sequence, and we have all the details right here.

Per EW, producer Ilona Six has confirmed that Eric Roberts (pictured; The Dark Knight, The Expendables), Tommy “Tiny” Lister (Friday, The Fifth Element), and former porn actress (and one of Charlie Sheen's "goddesses") Bree Olson will join returning villains Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey, Robert LaSardo, and the series’ writer-director Tom Six in the production.

Final Sequence is set in a prison and is said to be aiming for a 500-person centipede this go-round. Director Six promises that the American finale will be 100% politically incorrect!

The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins in Insidious Chapter 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions is producing (with Alliance financing). FilmDistrict will distribute the film theatrically in the United States, with Sony handling the majority of domestic ancillary rights. Alliance will distribute in Canada, the U.K. (through its Momentum Pictures subsidiary), and Spain (through Aurum); and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will distribute in all other international territories.

Alamo Drafthouse has announced a pair of limited edition signature wines inspired by Jonathan Demme's 1991 Oscar-winning The Silence of the Lambs along with dinners and posters in support of the wine launch.

After the success of last year's The Princess Bride-inspired "The Bottle of Wits," the Alamo is now making an oenophilic nod to noted gourmand, wine connoisseur, and psychopath Hannibal Lecter for this year's "The Cannibal Chianti" and another to elusive lotion enthusiast Buffalo Bill for the "Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio." Both wines will be available at all Alamo Drafthouse locations and online at silenceofthelambswine.com beginning today, May 29, 2013.

"The Cannibal Chianti" is a DOCG-wine from a vineyard situated between Florence and Sienna. It is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, balanced with smaller contributions of Canaiolo and Malvasia del Chianti. The nose is loaded with dark berry fruit with bass notes of allspice and baked quince. Its mouth feel is medium-bodied and well balanced, with savory plum and tobacco leaf notes leading to a slight sandalwood finish.

"Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio" is a 2012 vintage with a mixture of fruit from California's Central Coast and inland vineyards. It offers a lush bouquet of tangerine and orange blossom. The palate starts with a crisp entry and a velvety mouth feel that bursts into flavors of tropical peach and Mexican limes with just a hint of honey, leading to a zesty, citrus-laced finish.

To develop the bottle and package design of these wines, Alamo Drafthouse again turned to local Austin creative firm Helms Workshop. The subtle yet intricate designs unfold like a puzzle for fans of the movie, with tiny details referencing the film and its central characters of Buffalo Bill, Hannibal Lecter, and Clarice Starling.

"Even before we launched the "Bottle of Wits" series last year, we knew we had to reference what is in my opinion the most iconic wine moment in movie history, Hannibal Lecter's now famous food pairing advice," said Alamo CEO and Founder Tim League.

"Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio" and "The Cannibal Chianti" will only be available for one year. Both of these covetable wines will be available at all Alamo Drafthouse locations for $8 a glass and $32 a bottle (prices may vary). Retail bottles are available for purchase at silenceofthelambswine.com and at select Alamo Drafthouse locations where local laws permit.

A limited number of packaged wine sets will be available for purchase online only. "The Cannibal Chianti" set comes with a leather red dragon bag of fava beans with a recipe for their preparation by Alamo chef Trish Eichelberger. The "Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio" set features a burlap bag containing a bottle of Buffalo Bill lotion.

Mondo, the division of the Alamo Drafthouse championed for bringing art back to movie poster design, is supporting the launch of the new wine by releasing two limited edition The Silence of the Lambs screenprints. The artist is Caesar Moreno, and they are limited to 150 (#1 below) and 110 (#2 below) each. The size is 24" x 36"; the cost is $40 each. The posters go on sale Thursday, May 30th. In addition, "Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio" and "The Cannibal Chianti" wine will be featured at The Silence of the Lambs Feasts taking place at select Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide. The four-course menu, created by Alamo Drafthouse Austin Market Chef Trish Eichelberger, will feature wine pairings, including "Suit Yourself Pinot Grigio" and "The Cannibal Chianti." And, of course, Trish's spin on "liver and some fava beans" will play a prominent role.
