    Season 6 Synopsis:
The Authority is in flames. TruBlood is in short supply. As Bill comes to terms with his newfound powers after emerging reincarnated from a pool of blood, humans are in open conflict with vampires like never before. Meanwhile, Sookie and Jason must steel themselves for an encounter with their parents’ killer: the mysterious and ancient Warlow.

The hit series "TRUE BLOOD" kicks off its ten-episode sixth season SUNDAY, JUNE 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by other new episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the show takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source.

Archie Comics Movie Coming - Will It Include Zombies?

    $

    0

In early March we got word that a new Archie comic that includes zombies is on its way, and now we hear that Warner Bros. Pictures has closed a deal for a live action movie based on the series. If it will also include the undead isn't clear, but just in case here are the details.

Deadline reports that Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing with Jon Goldwater, Krishnan Menon, and Jon Silk as executive producers. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) has signed on to direct while Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") is writing. Sources told the site that the screenplay envisions a “high school comedy based on the original line of Archie comics set in present day Riverdale.” Others add it’s a "Glee"/Picture Perfect-style musical. But...

Aguirre-Sacasa is the writer of Afterlife with Archie (the new zombie-based comics) and also scripted the upcoming remake of Carrie so it's not a stretch to think he might add some horror elements to the Archie film.

We'll keep our eyes on the story just in case, but for now file this one under "remote possibility."

Check Out Holliston Season 2 Episode 1 Right NOW!Another bit of horror entertainment you've been looking forward to, "Holliston" Season 2, had its premiere this week, and if you missed the first episode, don't worry! You can watch it right here and right now. But be quick about it as it'll only be available for a week! Dig it!

    Synopsis
FEARnet premiered the second season of the hit original sitcom "HOLLISTON" on Tuesday, June 4, as part of its Twisted Comedy Block. Season Two of the series—which was renewed for a second season after just two episodes had aired—is set for a 10-episode order, an increase of four episodes over Season One.

"HOLLISTON"—created by celebrated genre filmmaker, Adam Green, who wrote and produced the upcoming HATCHET III, in theaters this June—stars Green and fellow real-life genre filmmaker Joe Lynch (KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM, WRONG TURN 2), as “Adam” and “Joe,” two aspiring horror filmmakers, dealing with the struggles of life, love, and career aspirations during the post-college period where nothing ever seems to work out like it should. With relatable storylines inspired by Green’s own life experiences that mash-up traditional situational comedy plot lines with popular horror genre-themes, "HOLLISTON" is the hip and edgy horror-fueled sitcom that FEARnet fans had been waiting for and have now embraced wholeheartedly.

The series also stars Laura Ortiz as Joe’s longtime girlfriend and adorably demented artist; Corri English as Adam’s confused and on-again/off-again childhood sweetheart; and heavy metal icons Dave Brockie as “Oderus Urungus”, Adam’s twisted closet-dwelling imaginary friend and guardian angel, and Dee Snider as “Lance Rockett”, the delusional wannabe rockstar who runs the local cable station where “Adam” and “Joe” work. Season Two is loaded with appearances from genre stars such as Bill Moseley (TEXAS CHAINSAW), Kane Hodder (HATCHET III), Sid Haig (THE LORDS OF SALEM), David Naughton (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON), Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN IV and V), Bailee Madison (DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK), and James Gunn (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY).

Following the events of the first season, Season Two ups the ante of outrageousness, taking the show to a wide range of unexpected places. Highlights include the series’ first animated episode, finding the town attacked by a giant blob; a Ringu-inspired J-horror episode; a found footage episode; and a one-hour season finale that will boast two special musical performances by the talented cast and a shocking final scene that will raise the dead. The second season will also feature some surprising twists and developments for the four main friends that will have a major impact on their lives and leave viewers anxious for more.

"HOLLISTON" is produced for FEARnet by Adam Green’s TV and film production company, ArieScope Pictures, in association with The Hacienda Film Co. and A Bigger Boat Productions. Joining Green and Lynch as executive producers are Cory Neal and Andrew Mysko, as well as producers Sarah Elbert, Will Barratt, and Sean Becker, who directed many of the episodes this season.

New Trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Shows Off Modern Setting and MoreMercury Steam and Konami are set to release Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 later this year for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We were able to get some hands-on time with the game at the Mercury Steam studio in Spain and found it to be the best Castlevania game yet.

You are going to want to check out this new trailer and the masterpiece that is Lords of Shadow 2.

    From the Press Release
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., unveiled an all-new trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

In the new trailer Dracula (voiced by Robert Carlyle) wakes up after centuries of sleep, old and withered. He slowly begins to recollect his past, and we then see him at the height of his powers long ago. As Dracula's castle is being besieged, fans are exposed to various enemies he will face in addition to an all-new weapon – the void sword.

The trailer also finally confirms that the game will pick up from the explosive epilogue of the first title in the Lords of Shadow saga, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. This will be a game that spans centuries with much of it taking place in the present day.

Developed by Madrid-based Mercury Steam, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 builds on its critically acclaimed predecessor. The title will feature an all-new storyline, a larger cast of characters, open world environments and breathtaking visuals delivered via a much more powerful, brand new in-house game engine called Mercury Engine 2. Dracula returns once again, weakened and yearning for release from his immortal bonds. Facing a new and powerful threat, the vampire lord must amass his old powers – and his castle is central to regaining his lost abilities.

But the famed Belmont clan seeks their ancestor's ultimate destruction.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be available for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC in 2013.

MonsterPants Announces New Ten-Part Online Serial to Begin with Chapter FourWord on a new project from MonsterPants, the New York-based, do-it-yourself non-studio behind such films as Satan Hates You and Hypothermia, landed in our inbox this week; and it's so unique and intriguing we just had to share!

    From the Press Release:
MonsterPants is proud to announce its latest film project, "CHAPTER FOUR," the first episode in a ten-part online serial written and directed by DIY auteur James Felix McKenney (Automatons, Hypothermia). For now, the name of the entire serial is to remain a mystery. Each episode of this dark science fiction thriller will carry its own title, simply that of the number of the chapter.

McKenney explains, "I want to capture that pre-Internet, broadcast television feeling of discovery, where you would be flipping through television channels and stumble across a movie or a TV series in mid-story and get sucked in. During those times you couldn't go back and see what you missed, and it might take a little effort to even figure out the name of what you were watching. I loved that feeling of mystery and how it compelled you to seek out more information on your discovery, which wasn't always that readily available."

"To approximate that experience, we will be releasing our episodes out of order, without any title card displayed for the serial until the premiere of 'CHAPTER ONE,' late in the series. I want there to be some mystery to this thing -- not just 'What will happen next?" but also 'How did we get here?'"

The first episode, "CHAPTER FOUR," stars musician, filmmaker, artist, and author Aurelio Voltaire; actress Mizuo Peck (Night at the Museum 1 & 2); actor Matt Huffman (Satan Hates You); and artist and television personality The Sucklord (Bravo TV's "Work of Art: The Next Great Artist").

McKenney is co-producing the series with Lisa Wisely of The Work Room. Eric Branco (Hypothermia, V/H/S) is Director of Photography. Each episode will have a running time of approximately ten minutes and be distributed online beginning this fall.

"Chapter Four" begins filming this month at the 94 Jewel Street Studio in Brooklyn, New York. For project updates and more information, visit MonsterPants.net and follow MonsterPants on Twitter (@MonsterPantz).

Exclusive: Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto Talk V/H/S/2, The Night Comes for Us and More

Exclusive Interview: Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto Talk V/H/S/2, The Night Comes for Us and MoreV/H/S/2 arrived last night on VOD and will hit select theaters on July 12th courtesy of Magnet Releasing, and to get you guys ready, we’ve got an interview with two of the anthology’s filmmakers- Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto.

Evans and Tjahjanto collaborated for V/H/S/2 (review) on the absolutely stellar segment “Safe Haven” (which is amazing enough on its own merits to most likely be making this writer’s Top Five list for 2013), and we chatted with the pair about their experiences working together on their contribution to the anthology, heard a little more about their upcoming project entitled The Night Comes for Us and much more.

Check out our exclusive interview below, and look for more on V/H/S/2 soon!

Dread Central: Hey guys, great to chat with you. Gareth, we chatted last year for The Raid, and Timo, the “Libido” segment on The ABC’s of Death was absolutely unforgettable so it was pretty great to see you combine your forces for “Safe Haven.” Can you talk about how you ended up co-directing on this?

Gareth Evans:We’ve been friends for a while...

Timo Tjahjanto:Actually, we really hate each other.

Gareth Evans:Yeah, we fucking hate each other (laughs).

Timo Tjahjanto:Gareth, you do the real answers, and I’ll do the fun ones, okay? (laughs)

Gareth Evans:Sounds good (laughs). So Timo and I have been friends ever since I moved to Jakarta; we became friends really quickly, and over the years we’ve just always shared scripts and ideas with each other but we’ve never had the opportunity to collaborate together. And as it worked out, we both were contacted separately for V/H/S/2 by the producers, and when I went and asked him what he thought of me doing a segment, that’s when I found out they asked him too.

So we both decided, fuck it, let’s make this together since we had always wanted to make a movie. Timo came up with the initial idea of a video crew doing a documentary on quite possibly the worst fucking day ever to be shooting a documentary.

Timo Tjahjanto:Yeah, we added in more of the zombie elements later after we fully developed that first idea. We just wanted audiences to feel like everything was literally going to hell on the screen right in front of them.

Dread Central: Because you’re essentially working within the confines of short-form storytelling and everything with “Safe Haven” is SO ambitious, how challenging was it managing all the character development that happens in the story plus all of the insanity (which there’s a lot of) and getting all of that to work together?

Gareth Evans:A huge focus for Timo and myself from the very beginning was that we had to make sure we gave the audience characters they could connect with. To be honest, it’s really hard to give a shit about anyone in the first V/H/S because there was no character development at all and the characters we were watching were all complete assholes. For us, everything hinged on developing the characters and having real relationships onscreen that felt organic to the story.

Something else we were trying to do was to give you a sense of familiarity at first- when the crew arrives at the compound, we spend a lot of time taking you through the facility and introducing you to everyone that lives there so that you become immersed in the world of this cult and get a sense of geography. Then, when everything breaks out into chaos and the crew is trying to make their way through the halls, you’ll notice everything feels a bit more disorienting, almost maze-like, and that was conscientious on our part that we wanted you to feel just as lost as the crew does.

Timo Tjahjanto:Something else we wanted to explore was the idea of these people who would blindly follow a cult leader and living in this very extreme place- that idea of unshackled belief that drives people to do crazy things. For us, that idea is fucking terrifying. One thing, though, was that we couldn’t take things TOO seriously with the story or it just becomes really depressing, and that’s not fun for audiences. That’s why the tone shifts when it does and then “Safe Haven” becomes something entirely different; if we had played the story straight, it would have been a downer of a story.

Dread Central: How many days did you guys get to shoot this then?

Gareth Evans:We shot for like seven or eight days total; we were doing something like 20-hour days at the beginning, but I think by the end we were almost up to 24-hour days. It was crazy.

Timo Tjahjanto:Yeah, I think a few days we even shot 25 hours- we couldn’t stop so we just added hours to the day (laughs).

Gareth Evans:We were very lucky that we were able to come at this project without a huge budget in place so we were able to treat it like our own independent film, which meant everyone who worked on it gave much more than they had to. We had a great make-up crew who were able to perform miracles for far less than they should have been paid, and just everyone really gave everything they had to make this movie work.

Timo Tjahjanto:When you’re working on a project like this, friendship definitely comes into play because you have to call in a lot of favors to pull off the impossible.

Dread Central: I know I’m almost out of time so I wanted to ask about your next collaboration together- The Night Comes for Us. I’m sure it’s pretty early, but I’d love to hear more about that project and what fans can expect.

Timo Tjahjanto:Gareth’s going to be my boss on that one (laughs).

Gareth Evans:Timo, that’s the same as every day (laughs). I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Timo Tjahjanto:Yeah, I’m pretty much his bitch. You can’t see me right now, but I’m actually on my knees in front of Gareth right now (laughs).

Gareth Evans:(laughing) It’s all true... But no, seriously, my production company has been around for almost five years now, and with The Raid 2 going on right now, I felt like I needed to take a break from directing after that but still wanted to keep the Merantau Films banner going so that’s when I decided for our next project we’d have someone else direct, and Timo of course was perfect for the project. I’ll help orchestrate certain things, but this is going to be his baby- his bloody, really fucked up baby (laughs).

Producer Shaun Menzie Chats The Victorville MassacreWith writer and director Riley Wood’s indie horror feature The Victorville Massacre having bowed on DVD this week, we spoke with producer Shaun Menzie regarding the flick as well as the DVD signing taking place this Saturday, June 8th, at Burbank, CA’s horror hot spot Dark Delicacies.

“With no budget and relatively unknown actors that worked for free, I couldn't be more proud of this film,” stated Menzie of The Victorville Massacre, which was filmed in 2009 and won the ‘Fan Favorite Feature’ award at 2011’s Big Bear Horror-Fi Festival.

“It’s taken four years from the start of filming to it coming out on DVD,” Menzie, who also stars in the film along with Patrick Atherton, Chris Bailey, Briana Baker and Kevin Brown, continued. “To see it finish like this makes the long journey worth it. It justifies all the work and is a great feeling when I think back to the people that said we were wasting our time and that we would never sell it and never win at a festival. It’s not the greatest movie ever made, but people seem to enjoy it, and that's an awesome feeling!”

For more information on the cast and crew signing, which takes place at 2:00 pm this Saturday at Dark Delicacies (3512 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA), visit their website here, and for more on The Victorville Massacre, visit the official website here and distributor Indican Pictures here.

Two More R.I.P.D. Banners! Bet You Can't Guess Who's on 'Em!

Two More R.I.P.D. Banners! Bet You Can't Guess Who's on 'Em!As a quick follow-up to yesterday's story about new R.I.P.D. banners which featured Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges brandishing big fancy guns, we now have two more banners featuring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges brandishing big fancy guns. At least they're consistent.

Universal Pictures'R.I.P.D. stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O'Malley, James Hong, Tobias Segal, and Robert Knepper.

Robert Schwentke directed the project, which follows a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world. Jeff Bridges plays Reynolds' ghostly partner.

Universal Pictures' supernatural farce has been scheduled for July 19, 2013.

    Synopsis
Nick is dead — at least, that’s how he remembers it — and teams up with another deceased detective, a gunslinger from the Old West (played by Jeff Bridges), to work for an elite task force, the Rest In Peace Department (hence the title), to track down the dead on Earth. (Due to overpopulation, some unsettled spirits haven’t gone where they’re supposed to and are hiding out). Technically, R.I.P.D. officers (who are overseen by Mary-Louise Parker) aren’t allowed to kill anyone living and aren’t supposed to interact with anyone from their previous lives, but Nick is haunted by the fact that he was murdered by another cop (played by Kevin Bacon) and can’t let it go.
