Lifetime Lands Christina Ricci for Lizzie Borden Biopic

Lifetime Lands Christina Ricci for Lizzie Borden BiopicFemale killers are all over the news lately, and adding that to the public's insatiable curiosity about whether Lizzie Borden really took an axe and gave her father 40 whacks, it's no surprise a new biopic is on its way about the notorious Fall River, MA, resident.

Per the Wrap, Lifetime has signed Christina Ricci to star in its upcoming film about Borden, who was ultimately acquitted of killing her father and stepmother in the late 1800s. No writer has been selected yet, but Nick Gomez (Drowning Mona, "Burn Notice") is directing with Sony Pictures Television producing. Judith Verno will executive produce.

A few years back HBO had a miniseries in the works about the Borden case starring Chloe Sevigny, but we haven't heard much about it lately. We'll keep our ears open for more on both of these projects and let you know which one will be hitting the airwaves first.

B-Sides: You're in a Dead Heat

B-Sides: You're in a Dead HeatBefore the deceased cops of R.I.P.D. fought supernatural crime, there was Dead Heat. Treat Williams as police detective Roger Mortis, murdered in the line of duty and brought back from the dead after uncovering a reanimation crime syndicate led by “Kolchak, the Night Stalker” and Vincent Price.

The 1988 action-horror-comedy Dead Heat was a flop in its day, and to this day it’s only a minor cult favorite. Neither is surprising considering the movie is very, very bad, but so uniquely bad there aren’t too many movies you can compare it to. How many movies include a scene where bad guys have a reanimation machine set up in the ceiling of a Chinese butcher shop as if they know one day a zombie cop and his smart-ass partner are going to come calling and will need to reanimate dead animal meat in order to make a hasty escape?

But if you ever need conclusive proof as to why Joe Piscopo’s career fizzled in spectacular fashion, just watch him in this movie as Williams’ motor-mouthed partner. His character should have been named Officer Nails McChalkboard.

Phil Settle provides the title song to Dead Heat bearing the same name as the movie. It is very much a quintessential 1980’s pop song, the sort made specifically for a motion picture, with no musical value outside of the airing of that film.

Which of Our Dueling Hatchet III Reviews Will You Agree With?Hatchet III had its premiere earlier this week, and Uncle Creepy has filed his review for the film. Drew Tinnin saw it as well and, as often happens around here, has a somewhat different opinion.

Read them both (they're spoiler-free), and let us know which camp you fall into if you're able to catch it this weekend.

Hatchet III is set to open in New York City's Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Music Hall on June 14th. Opening week will feature special appearances by cast and crew, followed by Q&A's at each location. Additional cities are forthcoming.

Read Uncle Creepy's positive Hatchet III review here.

Synopsis:
Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return in HATCHET III and are joined by Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), and others.

Hatchet III continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

The sequel, which was filmed outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, from late May to mid-June, 2012, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films and Hatchet III writer/executive producer Adam Green's Los Angeles-based ArieScope Pictures.

Paramount in Negotiations for New Terminator Movie

Paramount in Negotiations for New Terminator MovieIt sounds as if the fifth entry into the extremely popular Terminator franchise may have found itself a new home.... one that has proven, especially with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, that it's not afraid of R-rated content. That's right, kids! The days of Terminators that don't terminate may be officially behind us!

The Wrap reports that Annapurna and Skydance are negotiating with Paramount to team up on the next entry in the blockbuster franchise.

Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have already set Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine 3D) to script the next installment of The Terminator franchise. And as he's promised so many times now, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back! At least in some capacity.

Stay tuned.

Is Platinum Dunes Involved in Paramount's New Friday the 13th?

Is Platinum Dunes Involved in Paramount's New Friday the 13th? Last week we told you that the rights to Friday the 13th were back at Paramount. Old school Jason fans rejoiced and there was much celebration in the land (in my house, at least). Today the plot thickens, somewhat unsurprisingly.

My friend over at Bloody Disgusting, Evan Dickson, got a scoop yesterday straight from recent Jason actor Derek Mears' mouth regarding Platinum Dunes' involvement in the upcoming Friday the 13th sequel:

“I spoke to Brad Fuller, and he said that the rights are, as everyone knows, over at Paramount and they’re pushing hard. They’re going, 'We want [a new Friday the 13th movie] as fast as possible.'” Mears would also return to the hockey mask, if asked. “…I know they [Platinum Dunes] like me... look, even if I’m not a part of the series, as a fan, I just want to see more.” Fans were greatly divided over the last film in the franchise, but if they agreed on anything, it was that Derek Mears was an excellent Jason.

Does this mean that Platinum Dunes is involved in the next one? It sounds like it could be shaping up that way, and it wouldn't be surprising, considering they produced the 2009 remake.

Platinum Dunes is the production company created by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. They have produced several genre remakes throughout the last decade including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher, A Nightmare on Elm Street and, of course, Friday the 13th.

Having Jason back at Paramount has got to feel right to more fans than just myself. It's no secret that the studio famously discarded the franchise at the end of the 1980s - after milking it for all it was worth. But there's something about this current alignment that gives me hope. I didn't like the last Friday the 13th much, but if they can just tweak those elements ever so slightly (likable characters, inventive kills, no captives), then I think we'll be on to something.

Although I have to say that I wish someone would use a location other than Linda Vista. We've seen that place way too much!

Directed by Filip Maciejewicz for Magic Elevator Productions, Seventy-Nine stars Jonathan Rosenthal, Adrian Voo, Bo Linton, Christine Springett, Athena Baumeister, Velta Moore, Patrick Edward Wynne, Omar Hansen and Caroline Attwood.

Theatrical Trailer and a New Synopsis Arrive for Copiii: The 1st Entry

Theatrical Trailer and a New Synopsis Arrive for Copiii: The 1st EntryWe've been talking about L. Gustavo Cooper's upcoming Copiii: The 1st Entry for a few months now, and today we have more to show you in the form of a theatrical trailer and updated synopsis.

The film stars Rod Luzzi, Graci Carli and Emily Rogers. The story is by Cooper and Coe Douglas with a screenplay co-written by Cooper and Jon Bosworth. It's based on Romanian folklore that dates back to the 1500s which was used by parents as a way to keep children from sneaking out or acting up.

Basically the legend says that the only way any member of the group of gypsies known as the Copiii Pierdere could have children was to shed blood in a particular vengeance demon's name in the form of a cursed ritual. This ritual was named Din Burta de Sarpe, Romanian for 'belly of a snake.' The first time a man performed the ritual, he was horrified to find that it drove a loving couple of villagers insane to the point of death, leaving their unborn child unharmed beside their corpses. Disgusted as he was at his own actions, he took the infant and raised it as his own and passed this gruesome act through his family's bloodline. This year will be the 500-year anniversary of the creation of Copiii Pierdere and the Din Burta de Sarpe. Some believe that their power is growing stronger because of this occasion.

Synopsis:
Newlyweds Holly and Trevor Davidson are on a road trip to celebrate their honeymoon in Miami when their new life together takes a surreal turn. A whimsical pit stop in a tourist trap goes horribly wrong, and they find themselves forced to face an ominous new presence in their lives and an ambiguous threat. But is that threat coming from Trevor's family, Holly's dark past, or something far more sinister and otherworldly, such as the ancient curse of the Copiii Pierdere?

Exclusive: Guy Adams Talks Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger and What Inspired the Book's Dark Moments

0
0

Exclusive: Guy Adams Talks Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger, What Inspired the Book's Dark Moments and Much MoreDeadbeat - Makes You Stronger (review here) proves that sometimes death is only the start of our problems. We recently chatted with author Guy Adams about his new novel, what inspired its dark moments and what lies ahead for the Deadbeat series.

AMANDA DYAR: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with us. To start off, can you tell us a little about yourself and your recent work as a writer?

GUY ADAMS:No problem at all, thanks for asking me!

I'm an English writer currently living in Spain because if you're going to lock yourself in your office all day, it may as well be a nice outside world you're not seeing.

I've done a real mixture of stuff over the years. I wrote a novel called THE WORLD HOUSE for Angry Robot books followed by a sequel RESTORATION. I've written three novels based on movies from Hammer Films and a couple of original Sherlock Holmes novels for Titan Books. This year is about three vastly different series: HEAVEN'S GATE, a trilogy of weird westerns being published by Solaris, THE CLOWN SERVICE, a horror/espionage series coming from Del Rey UK and this book, which launches the DEADBEAT series with Titan.

I also write comics. I'm the regular writer on THE ENGINE from Madefire, and I'm writer and co-creator of PHOENIX and the forthcoming GOLDTIGER (all with artist Jimmy Broxton). I'm also doing some work for 2000AD, which makes the ten-year-old me very excited indeed as it's been a dream to do so ever since I clapped eyes on the thing in my local newsagents.

AMANDA: What can you tell us about Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger, and what did your process for writing the book entail?

GUY:It's about Max Jackson and Tom Harris, two ex-actors who see something weird when they're stumbling home after too much to drink. They see a coffin being carried out of a churchyard. The men carrying the coffin stumble, the coffin spills and the woman inside it falls out. She's breathing. The men put her back in, load the coffin into a van and drive off. Max and Tom, having nothing better to do, decide to investigate. They will soon regret doing so.

I like to blur genres when writing, and the DEADBEAT books are no exception. There's a pulp crime feel there but some humor as well, all rolled up with some fantastical, horror stuff. I don't want to give away too much about them, but they're very character-led, good fun I hope, with some sharp edges.

The process of writing was a little different for these books in that the first two in the series are based on two novellas I wrote many years ago. These novels are heavily re-written of course and vastly expanded, but I wasn't creating something completely from scratch; I was returning to a world and set of characters I've lived with for a long time.

AMANDA: Who or what inspires your work and method of writing? Is there anyone in the horror world (writers, directors, actors and so forth) that you would like to meet and why?

GUY:I think writers are inspired by so many things it becomes hard to separate the sources out and pin them down. I can definitely cite comics as an influence in that I like to write stories that play at several genres, big, bold narratives that aren't afraid to have fun. Most of my books have that quality; they're rarely consistently grim in tone or slow-paced. Not that I have a problem with either in the right hands; it's just not something I tend to do. That's not to say they don't contain their fair share of horror either. DEADBEAT has some very dark and violent moments; I just like to switch mood a lot. I think that's what life's like.

Music's a big influence too. I watched a documentary about David Bowie recently where his songwriting process was explored, lifting tones, riffs and flavors from all over the place and building them together into something new. That's certainly an attitude that resonates.

As for people in the horror word I'd like to meet… I've been lucky in that I've met a number of my writing heroes; I can even count some of them as friends, which is always strange and yet lovely. I would have loved to spend time with Peter Cushing or Vincent Price though…

AMANDA: Tell us about the characters Max and Tom. The duo used to be actors before starting their own nightclub, Deadbeat. You have also done some acting, so did your own experiences play into the development of your characters?

Exclusive: Guy Adams Talks Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger, What Inspired the Book's Dark Moments and Much More

GUY:I first created Max and Tom about ten years ago. At that point I was an actor; writing was something I did for fun in the little spare time I had. Max was completely based on me, his attitude and his experiences.

The interesting thing is that as time has gone on, we've grown apart. When I went back to those original stories, I found I didn't like him very much! Which either says a lot about the man I used to be or the man I have become.

Both Max and Tom have changed a lot now. In a novella you can afford to keep the characterization quite light; in a novel things need to be deeper. I'm a believer in having a light touch in that area anyway, let dialogue do a lot of the job for you rather than long exposition, but I think it's fair to say that Max Jackson is carrying a lot more on his shoulders now than when I first wrote about him.

AMANDA: Why should horror fans pick up Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger?

GUY:Hopefully because they'll find much to enjoy. At its heart there's a great deal of darkness in the lives of Max and Tom. For all they try and black it out with drink and banter, they both share a life that would be impossible to bear for some. The plot also goes to some very scary places I think. They start off thinking they're having fun, playing at being private investigators, but once the truth begins to surface, they realize they're dealing with some exceptionally bad people.

AMANDA: Out of all the projects you have worked on in your writing and acting career--which would you say is the most memorable?

GUY:On the acting side I'm lucky as I had a lot of fun and played some great parts. I performed a dance routine as Hitler, I simulated sex with a woman dressed as a horse, I toured a comedy show for eighteen months performing material I'd written to tiny crowds of drunks, I've been Hemingway, Ebeneezer Scrooge, George Bernard Shaw and Sherlock Holmes. All parts that I was too young for. I had a whale of a time.

Writing is different. Honestly, I don't enjoy the process very much. I like the ideas when they're fresh, but the business of writing - and it is a business - not so much. I'm not a planner so there's lots of self-doubt, panic and the perennial "This is all shit; what am I going to do?" moment round about the halfway mark.

Still, you remember the firsts. The phone call from Angry Robot confirming that they wanted to publish my first original novel, getting my first gig in comics from Liam Sharp, Matt Smith at 2000 AD asking me if I wanted to have a crack at a series for them.

Possibly the greatest single moment came with my most hated book, a biography of actor Leonard Rossiter. That book nearly killed me, it was the most awful experience and yet… I got to spend the afternoon with Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, scriptwriting geniuses and two of the loveliest and cleverest men in the game.

AMANDA: Do you watch any horror movies or television shows while writing, and what are they?

GUY:I'm a huge fan of horror cinema, particularly British horror in the Sixties and Seventies and Italian Gialli, but my tastes are pretty diverse. I own something in the region of a couple of thousand movies and co-curate a blog looking at B-movies with fellow writer and idiot John Llewellyn Probert. It's on a slight hiatus at the moment because life has been too full for a couple of months, but we'll get back to it shortly.

TV shows? In terms of stuff that's on the air now, I love "American Horror Story." It's big, mad and relishes what it's doing. It's a show that knows how to have real, Grand Guignol fun. People criticize it for borrowing from other sources, but I think that's missing the point. It's a great, simmering stew of horror that bubbles away deliciously for thirteen weeks a year.

AMANDA: What projects do you have in the works, and what does the future hold for the Deadbeat series?

GUY:Prose-wise I'm working on the next in the HEAVEN'S GATE series and the second DEADBEAT book, which is bigger in scope than the first; the threat is more fantastical, and the whole world of the series opens up a lot more. It contains monsters, the ghost of a cat that was run over and now likes to smash up cars and a shady character who deals in magic. Wildness aside, it also looks into Max and Tom's past a bit more and finds some particularly unpleasant skeletons in Tom's closet.

In comics I'm developing a series that I'm really hoping I can find a home for. I'm far too superstitious to tell you anything about it, but I suspect it will be called THE GOOD GUY unless I decide in five minutes time that it's an awful title, which it may well be…

Our thanks to Guy Adams for his time. To learn more, visit the Guy Adams website and the Titan Books website.

Chill.com Debuts Vigilante Diaries Starring Your Favorite Former Slacker Jason Mewes

Chill.com Debuts Vigilante Diaries Starring Your Favorite Former Slacker Jason MewesChill.com is one of the more unique video distribution companies out there right now, and they've got a great plan for a new series entitled "Vigilante Diaries". The project stars the unmistakable Jason Mewes and features an all-new type of pay-per-view.

Okay, here's the scoop. The first two episodes of the groundbreaking original series "Vigilante Diaries" are currently online and available at Chill.com for the bargain basement price of $4.99. The series features episodic funding, which means the more fans who tune in and buy the episodes, the more episodes that will be made. Too bad that wasn't the case for "Bridezillas."

From the Press Release
Chill.com, the web's premier video distribution platform for entertainment content distributed direct from filmmakers, artists, and comedians, announces the debut of "Vigilante Diaries," an all-new online action comedy series starring Jason Mewes and Paul Sloan.

Chill.com first launched its direct artist-to-consumer video sales platform last fall, providing filmmakers, comedians, and other artists a place to release their premium video directly to fans. With "Vigilante Diaries," Chill is building off its early success in comedy specials and documentary features, launching a first-of-its-kind "episodic funding" model where fan support in the form of paid downloads will determine whether the series continues beyond the first two episodes.

"Vigilante Diaries" is a high energy, dark graphic tale of one man's task to clean up the streets... and another man's task to get it all on tape. The series, created and written by Paul Sloan, kicks off inside the pad of Michael Hanover (Mewes), the sole heir to Hanover Enterprises, raised in mansions and hotels but with a true passion for filmmaking. One day Hanover crosses paths with a real-life vigilante crime fighter loose in Los Angeles (Sloan) and - seizing his opportunity to make it big - begins shooting a documentary alongside all the gunfire and bloody mayhem. Completing this dark superhero cadre are vigilante protégé "The Kid" (Kevin L. Walker), "Jade" (Jacqueline Lord), and "Red" (Jessica Uberuaga).

The series has already mapped out ten episodes for its first season. If a 30-day goal of $50,000 in fan purchases is met for the initial episodes, the cast and crew will quickly move into production on Episodes 3 and 4, with a follow-up launch date four weeks later. The process will continue so long as fans continue to watch and support the show financially. Additional fan support is made possible through a number of exclusive bundles available alongside the download, including a walk-on role in future episodes and a chance to be "killed" by The Vigilante.

"'Vigilante Diaries' is a totally original series that brings to life that classic dark and gritty look from the best graphic novels and first-person shooters combined with Jay's natural talent for comedy," said director Christian Sesma. "These first few episodes are just the first taste of what is really a love letter to video game snipers, action film nuts, and comedic fans of Jay's past work. We've got all the bases covered with lots of laughs alongside guns, girls, and gore."

Exclusive: Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale Talk V/H/S/2, Upcoming Bigfoot Movie Exists and More

Exclusive: Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale Talk V/H/S/2, Upcoming Bigfoot Movie Exists and MoreWith V/H/S/2’s recent VOD and Digital release, Dread Central had the chance to catch up with two more of the directors from the superb anthology, Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale.

Sanchez and Hale co-directed the zombie-themed segment entitled “A Ride in the Park” which was shot entirely on a GoPro camera over several weekends. Check out what the pair had to say about collaborating for V/H/S/2, their upcoming Bigfoot movie Exists and much more below.

Dread Central: Can you start off by discussing how you guys became involved with V/H/S/2 (review) and if you planned from the start to direct together?

Eduardo Sanchez:Well, we were at SXSW last year and the producers approached us about doing a segment for the sequel. We were getting ready to start shooting Exists - the Bigfoot movie we just finished - and even though the timing was tough, it was an opportunity we couldn’t ignore. So it was decided that Gregg and I would co-direct our segment; he started things off for us and then I came up later once shooting began. Gregg handled all of prep work and the pre-production so everything on our segment was pretty seamless and painless.

Gregg Hale:Yeah, Ed and I have known each other for something like 17 years now- it’s too damn long is all I know (laughs). But we’ve worked together for a while now, ever since Blair Witch, and because we’ve been involved creatively for so long, co-directing together wasn’t too big of a switch for us.

Dread Central: Did the V/H/S/2 team give you guys any sort of parameters for your segment?

Eduardo Sanchez:Not really; they just told us that we had 15 minutes to work with and they just wanted to hear the story we wanted to go with to make sure it was going to work alongside the other segments, but otherwise we had total freedom. Jamie (Nash) had written the story, and we both loved the idea of it. Thankfully, it also fit incredibly well into the sequel so all we did was give Jamie a few notes, got a few notes back from producers - nothing crazy - and got to work.

Dread Central: Because you shot this using a GoPro, I imagine that made things a little more challenging than a typical DSLR or a RED camera where you can watch shots as they’re happening and things like that. Can you talk about how you approached shooting with the GoPro and what kinds of challenges you faced using that kind of a camera rig?

Gregg Hale:Yeah, playback was our biggest challenge; I mean, we could try and rig up playback, but it was going to be a huge pain for us to do that so we just kind of ‘went with it.’ As it turned out, not having playback sort of simplified things for us in some ways so it really allowed us to get creative in other ways, like having only one angle in the movie. When a movie only has one angle, it can get really repetitive or boring so we had to find ways to keep things interesting while still adhering to our shooting format.

Eduardo Sanchez:Yeah, I have to say that making “A Ride in the Park” was pretty easy, all things considered. We shot for four days over two weekends about 20 minutes away from my house in Maryland, and we called in a lot of favors with friends to get it made. Honestly though, this wasn’t tough at all- we always made our days, and everyone who worked on it gave us nothing less than 110%, which is absolutely the reason we were able to make this happen and succeed at it too.

Exclusive: Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale Talk V/H/S/2, Upcoming Bigfoot Movie Exists and MoreDread Central: You mentioned Exists earlier, which I’ve been excited for ever since we chatted about it at SXSW last year- how are things going there? What are you guys ‘allowed’ to talk about?

Eduardo Sanchez:Allowed? Hmmm... (laughs). No, I’m just kidding- we are still in post on it, but we did just get back from Cannes, where we already sold some territories, which is great. Gregg and I have wanted to make a Bigfoot movie ever since we were kids, and so this is like our childhood dream realized.

It’s definitely not going to be a paint-by-numbers movie at all, and as a fan, I have to say that our Bigfoot is one of the best practical Bigfoot creatures I’ve ever seen. We wanted to be traditional while making Exists and have a practical Bigfoot- CG was never a consideration for us at all. We should have a trailer in the next couple of months, which I’m completely giddy to show off to the fans out there. I think horror fans and Bigfoot fans are going to be really happy.

Exclusive Early Reveal of the Variant Cover for Afterlife with Archie

0
0

A few weeks back we heard about the new zombie-themed Archie comic headed our way, and now we have an exclusive early look at the variant artwork for Issue #1 by drawn by Tim Seeley.

Synopsis:
What if the zombie apocalypse began in Riverdale? This horror-infused comic answers that question when it kicks off in late 2013, spearheaded by one of Hollywood’s hottest writers, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who will be fresh off the high profile crossover Archie Meets Glee, along with Eisner-winning artist Francesco Francavilla .

AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE will provide readers with zombie-filled mayhem like only Archie can, taking the Riverdale gang where they’ve never been before – to the grave and back. Jughead’s beloved pooch Hotdog is run over by Reggie in his roadster. He convinces Sabrina to hatch a spell to bring back the pooch, but when Hotdog bites Jughead, he soon craves flesh.

In addition to his Archie credits, Aguirre-Sacasa has made a name for himself in the world of television (writer/producer on "Glee"), Broadway musicals (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), and movies, penning the remake of Stephen King’s Carrie, which premieres this fall.

“Roberto’s a superstar writer,” said Archie Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “Working with him on the upcoming AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE is the next step in the ever expanding Archie universe.”

"AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE combines two of my great passions: Archie comics and horror comics,” said Aguirre-Sacasa. “This series came out of conversations with Jon [Goldwater], asking questions like, ‘What if the Archie characters found themselves in a Stephen King novel like The Stand or a Sam Raimi movie like The Evil Dead?’ Could we pull that off, tonally? We’re really going for it. The first arc is called ‘Escape from Riverdale.’ The second arc is called, brace yourself, ‘Betty RIP.’ Of course, all the horror stuff will be balanced by elements that are quintessentially Archie.”

Afterlife With Archie hits comic shops October 9th, 2013.

The Seen and The Unseen: Bigfoot Vacations in Florida

0

Bigfoot Vacations in Florida As a kid I wasn’t allowed to watch movies like Friday the 13th. I’m glad for this parental oversight because it forced me to read about true life mysteries. One of my favorites is Bigfoot. I can’t tell you how many nights I spent reading Bigfoot stories and jumping at every noise.

So I love that ole hairy bi-ped. And, it turns out, he loves Florida...

The Sarasota Patch reports a “Skunk Ape” sighting in March. That isn’t really news, as Skunk Ape sightings happen all the time in the swamplands of Florida. What adds to the story is many people feel the park rangers are working on a cover-up by “ticketing” Bigfoot hunters.

If you listen to the video, you’ll hear the whole story. Their theory? The Florida Skunk Apes are actually “killer chimps” loose in all the state parks in the vacation capital of the world. And the government just doesn’t want you to know about it.

Not a bad theory, given that iguanas and boa constrictor snakes are an established Florida problem.

Still, I can’t help but wonder as I watch the video, is our government breeding robot Bigfeet for a secret invasion of all those who oppose Obama? I can’t prove that, of course, but hey, you can’t disprove it either.

Can't Get Enough of The Purge? Dig Nathan Whitehead's Soundtrack! It's always a great day when the number one film at the box office is a horror flick. And last weekend The Purge laid the smack down on its box office competition. If you want more from this film, the original motion picture soundtrack is now available.

From the Press Release
Back Lot Music is proud to release the soundtrack for The Purge, Universal Pictures’ speculative thriller starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. The Purge Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features new music by Nathan Whitehead.

"Scoring The Purge was a fascinating and haunting exploration into what we value as a society and how far will we go in the name of greater social good," Whitehead reflects. "Sonically, this was such a fun world to develop as I got to record and process a lot of strange sounds to create our own vocabulary for the score—everything from spring rattles and noisy toys to whooshing traffic and subway tunnels. Then working with this gritty, textural palette, I aimed to tell two main stories musically: Will we survive the night, and even if we do, what does this say about us as human beings? I found this combination of tense action and human drama to be so compelling, and it was really rewarding to express that musically."

  • Courtney Ford Returning for True Blood Season 6

    0

Remember back in Season 4 of "True Blood" when we met attorney Portia Bellefleur, the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Bill Compton, played by Courtney Ford? Well, she's coming back to Bon Temps for Season 6!

Per TV Guide, Ford is slated to return in Episode 7, which should be interesting given that when we last saw her, Bill had glamoured her into screaming and running away any time she encountered him due to her persistence in making a play for him despite their familial connection. She did share a bit about why she might be returning: "After watching the Season 5 finale, which was pretty intense and crazy, things are getting a little heated in Bon Temps, and it stands to reason that someone is going to need a lawyer."

But what about that pesky screaming and running away thing? Will that still be in play? "How much of Bill is in there?" Ford mused. "Is Bill still Bill? That's the big question mark. I think if she's afraid of Bill, she'd probably be double afraid of Billith. Billith is pretty scary."

    Season 6 Synopsis:
The Authority is in flames. TruBlood is in short supply. As Bill comes to terms with his newfound powers after emerging reincarnated from a pool of blood, humans are in open conflict with vampires like never before. Meanwhile, Sookie and Jason must steel themselves for an encounter with their parents’ killer: the mysterious and ancient Warlow.

"True Blood" kicks off its ten-episode sixth season this Sunday, June 16th (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Episode #6.01: “Who Are You, Really?” (airs 6/16/13)
In the wake of Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) blood-soaked reincarnation, Sookie (Anna Paquin), Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Tara (Rutina Wesley), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Nora (Lucy Griffiths) flee the Authority compound as Sam (Sam Trammell), Luna (Janina Gavankar) and Emma (Chloe Noelle) dodge swarming guards.

Now packmaster, Alcide (Joe Manganiello) discovers that the job comes with unsavory side dishes but other major perks. In Bon Temps, Andy (Chris Bauer) deals with parenting four newborn human-faerie hybrids. Meanwhile, Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard) vows open season on vampires. Jessica returns to Compton Place as Jason hitches a ride with an eerie stranger. Written by Raelle Tucker; directed by Stephen Moyer.
