Set Visit Report: Pollyanna McIntosh Talks Being a White SettlerCurrently in production and flying the flag for cream of the crop independent horror is Simeon Halligan's White Settlers, starring genre fave Pollyanna Mcintosh – with whom most of you are more than likely familiar due to her spectacular performance in the titular role in Lucky Mckee's The Woman.

Also starring fellow up-and-coming British talent Lee Williams ("The Tudors") and produced by the people behind Manchester horror festival Grimmfest, not to mention penned by BAFTA nominated writer Ian Fenton, White Settlers looks like it could be the much awaited breath of life that British horror needs.

While working on set, Pollyanna was gracious enough to take some time to speak with us between takes and let us all know what horrors lie in store in this tale of a young couple trying for an idyllic life in the country that soon find themselves besieged by unspeakable terrors...

Aaron Williams: For those yet to hear about this – what is White Settlers?

Pollyanna McIntosh: It's a feature, it's going to be coming out early next year, and it's a thriller with some horror aspects. It's about Ed and Sarah, who live in London and move to the country for the idyllic, peaceful, pastoral life. They want to convert this old barn house and turn it into a B&B, they want to have kids. They're a young married couple and ready for that stage of life... Ed is a little less ready than her in the beginning. As they're settling into their new home on the first night, she's getting a bit - she's a little fragile and a little vulnerable - she's one of those who hears bumps in the night when they're maybe not there so Ed doesn’t really believe her. As it progresses, he has no choice but to realize that they’re in the middle of a nightmare.

AW: What attracted you to this role?

PM: It's great to play a lead. The only lead I've played above a male before is being in The Woman, and that was a pretty big challenge in every scene. I just felt that the script is really strong, the writing is really strong. I've read a lot of thrillers - and to be honest I've read a lot of bad ones - but this one I couldn’t put it down. Ian Fenton, who wrote it, has done this tightly wrought thriller; and I think if we have done our job right, me and Lee Williams... and he's great - I'm kind of used to playing quite strong, controlled characters, and she's a little more vulnerable.

Set Visit Report: Pollyanna McIntosh Talks Being a White Settler

AW: According to the film's Twitter account the shoot has been pretty rough...

PM: It has been tough! It's probably the maddest schedule I've ever seen! We've been shooting for weeks on a low budget with a tight crew so it's always going to be challenging, but - and I’m not just saying this - the crew is amazing! There's a lot of experienced people on this; I think the script has attracted some great talent. Even though one minute I'm scrabbling on my knees for an entire night, next minute I'm screaming like a banshee, I'm doing lots of stunts, I'm hanging out of windows – it's intense stuff! I feel very committed to this, and I feel like we're all in the same boat. I'm enjoying myself, I really am!

AW: How would you compare this to your other roles?

PM: Like I say, the vulnerability of her is something that was a nice challenge for me. I don't normally play romantic leads so that's kind of cool for me. It's funny; there's something about being tall, dark and strong-featured – I've normally lost a child or I'm a heroin addict or a Russian kick-ass or I'm covered in shit wreaking havoc! (Laughs) So it's a departure for me, and I like that.

AW: How did you end up in this role?

PM: I met Simeon and Rachel, who is producing this, at Grimmfest because they were at this great horror festival in Manchester and they'd screened The Woman there. I didn’t know that when I went up there for a little short which I did called Him Indoors with Reece Shearsmith, which is available on FEARnet, for those who want to see it, and is a really lovely piece. It's a sort of dark comedy horror and Reece I've been a fan of for years. I think he was just incredible in Psychoville and League of Gentlemen. Paul Davis directed that, who made the documentary Beware the Moon about An American Werewolf in London, and has since come under the wing of John Landis a lot. We made this little passion project, this short and it was playing at Grimmfest and because of The Woman having a good following there, they asked me to come up with Him Indoors and do a Q&A and also host the Q&A for Ross Noble and the rest of his cast for Stitches. I got to know them really well, and they said, "We wanna work with you and probably send you some stuff'!"

I read a script they sent before – again it was a really good script, but I really didn’t think it was right for me. It just wasn't the right time. Then I got hold of White Settlers, and it just gripped me! I was discussing this film over Skype with Sim and Rachel in January so it's been quite a long lead in, and he's as committed to it as I am. We collaborate well, I think. He's given me quite a bit of freedom with the character, and I really appreciate that. He's got a hell of a ship to sail, you know? He's keeping his cool, and he and the DP work really well together; the DP is fantastic. It's just nice to watch him really enjoying himself. He's always very close to the camera, always looking at the shot so in many ways he's the unseen character in the film.

Set Visit Report: Pollyanna McIntosh Talks Being a White Settler

AW: What do you think sets this apart from similar films that have come before it?

PM: I think what's exciting for me is that it's British, it's written by a Scot, I'm Scottish, it's set in Scotland. I've been really lucky to do some great Scottish projects recently with Burke and Hare and Bob Servant Independent, which is the BBC show I did. I think it's really cool for the Scots to see that and that aspect of it. It's kind of got aspects of Eden Lake and Ils about it. I think the scary house genre is a lot of fun to play with. It's also got a sense of realism about it, which is again quite fun for the horror genre. I'll just say that much – I have to be careful about what I say because I don't want to give too much away! I think it's got something for everybody basically; I think it will keep everybody on their toes, which is what I like when I visit the movies.

Many thanks to Pollyanna for taking the time out to talk with us, and keep your eyes right here on Dread Central for more on White Settlers when we have it!

For additional info in the meantime, "like"White Settlers on Facebook, and follow White Settlers on Twitter.

Synopsis:
It's Ed and Sarah's first night at their new home, an isolated farmhouse on the Scottish border. This should be a new beginning away from their stressful London lives. And at first it is as they enjoy supper al fresco at sunset and a riverside skinny dip. But as darkness falls, things become eerie. Sarah suspects they’re not alone; Ed goes to investigate, and the evening swiftly becomes a nightmare. It dawns on them that they do not belong there. And they certainly aren't welcome either...

White Settlers comes on like a supernatural terror ride with the classic 'bumps in the night' scenario of floorboard creaks and shadows. But the moment Ed tells a genuinely frightened Sarah to get a grip, the film bluntly changes direction. And here is where the game changes. Think Straw Dogs meets Sinister.

This really could happen to you.

Now Dupin’s legacy continues in brand-new tales of ratiocination, mystery, and the macabre. Experience the further exploits of Dupin as he faces enemies both human and otherworldly; follow the adventures of his grandson, the Pinkerton detective; learn the fate of Dupin’s great-granddaughter; discover how Dupin connects his creator, Poe, with Sherlock Holmes; and more!

This anthology include the original 1841 story and Clive Barker's sequel, 'New Murders in the Rue Morgue', along with original stories by Joe R. Lansdale, Jonathan Maberry, Weston Ochse, Mike Carey, and many more.

It's currently just $.99 from Atria/Emily Bestler Books and Simon and Schuster Digital Sales.

Synopsis:
“Books alter men, and men, in their turn, alter worlds.”

Soter is a man who has been haunted by World War I. But when he’s sent to investigate the disappearance of Lionel Maudling, the owner of a grand country house whose heir may be accused of his death, he encounters a home that will lead him to nightmares he could have never imagined.

Maudling’s estate houses countless books of every sort—histories, dramas, scientific treatises. But none seems to offer Soter any hint to Maudling’s whereabouts, until he’s led to an arcane London bookseller where the reclusive scholar made his last purchase. What Soter finds at the end of a twisted maze of clues is a book like no other, with a legacy that will put everything he knows in danger…

An inventive horror novella from internationally bestselling author John Connolly, this is a story of madness, of obsession, and of books’ power to change the world.

Summer Reading Suggestions: The Wanderer in Unknown Realms, Beyond Rue Morgue, and GnashLast we have Brian Parker's Gnash, a zombie horror book that takes place in the not too distant future...

Parker is a current Active Duty Army soldier who resides in Texas with his family. While he was growing up, his family owned and operated a small farm in Missouri for an annual loss. It was there that he learned the value, and rewards, of a hard day's work and learned to enjoy the escapism provided by a good book.

Synopsis:
An ancient fundamentalist organization has chosen to lash out against its enemies by conducting several attacks simultaneously across the globe. One of the assaults unleashes a deadly virus within the Pentagon. When the virus mutates beyond anything the terrorists expected, the nation’s capital is plunged into a violent zombie outbreak that threatens to infect everyone in the region. A desperate attempt to stop the potential global epidemic backfires as the infected survive a brutal pre-emptive strike and continue to wreak havoc on the human population when they reemerge from the bowels of the ruined city.

Grayson Donnelly, a former Army officer who is stranded in the Midwest during the outbreak, is forced to fight for his life and for the survival of his adopted community while his fiancée, Emory, is trapped in the Washington, DC, quarantine zone. She struggles to come to terms with her own survival while living in a government-operated refugee camp just outside of the city. In a nation that is nearing anarchy as the terrorists’ heinous scheme takes on a life of its own, the two of them must learn to adapt and do whatever is necessary in order to survive.

8:00pm - Not Guilty Due to Zombification? Law and Forensic Psychiatry in a Zombie Apocalypse
During a "zombie apocalypse" humans play by a new set of rules-or no rules at all. Zombies kill humans, humans hunt zombies, and humans murder other humans-with no legal repercussions. But suppose the zombie apocalypse ended after eradication of the zombies or the discovery of a cure that rejoined the dead with the living. When society's laws are restored, what would happen if humans, zombies, and former zombies alike stood trial for their actions? Would any of them be found guilty, or would the circumstances of the apocalypse excuse crimes like theft, breaking and entering, misuse of a corpse, murder, and cannibalism? What legal defenses might apply? The forensic psychiatrists of Broadcast Thought-H. Eric Bender, M.D., Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., and Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D.-along with an attorney from Law and the Multiverse, James Daily (The Law of Superheroes), and attorney and professor Jeff Trexler examine the legal issues faced by a post-zombie-apocalyptic world. In a mock trial, the lawyers will be the prosecution and defense, the doctors will be the expert witnesses, and you will be the jury. Will the walking dead be found guilty or will they walk free?

First Riddick TV Spot Plays for Blood

$

First Riddick TV Spot Plays for BloodThough it's still pretty damned early, the first TV spot for Riddick has arrived and features the title character ready to cause some type of murderous R-rated mayhem. What else did you expect? A PG13-rated flick? Oh... wait...

Riddick stars Vin Diesel and is based on a script by David Twohy, who wrote both Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black, where he first created the character of Riddick.

Joining Diesel are a returning Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Vaako; Jordi Molla as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (TV's "Battlestar Galactica") as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America), and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson.

Synopsis:
Riddick, the latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000’s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

New Sadako 3D 2 Trailer Will Leave You Not Feeling WellA new trailer is here for the sequel to the insipid Sadako 3D (review), and it's filled with little girls, long black hair, and really cheesy pop music. Remember when Ring was scary? Sadako 3D 2 opens in Japanese theatres on August 30th.

Directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa, Sadako 3D 2 -- set five years after Sadako 3D -- stars Miori Takimoto as a clinical psychologist raising her four-year-old niece, whose mother died in childbirth. The cursed online video clip reappears, and strange things begin to occur around the young girl.

Ring author Kôji Suzuki tackled the writing duties on this latest entry and is the only reason we're even moderately interested in this could-be abomination.

Synopsis
Fuko Ando (Miori Takimoto), a 24-year-old graduate student in psychology, is tasked to care for her 4-year-old niece. Soon mysterious events begin to occur around her niece. Fuko Ando then learns of an incident involving a cursed video that took place five years earlier and soon finds herself involved with the cursed video.

Get R.I.P.D. and Dig on These ImagesA new featurette in promotion of the upcoming horror comedy R.I.P.D. has arrived, and it's bound and determined to save us from the evils of the night. Check it out now as a means to show your support for the Rest in Peace Department!

Universal Pictures'R.I.P.D. stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O'Malley, James Hong, Tobias Segal, and Robert Knepper.

Robert Schwentke directed the project, which follows a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world. Jeff Bridges plays Reynolds' ghostly partner.

Universal Pictures' supernatural farce has been scheduled for July 19, 2013.

Synopsis
Nick is dead — at least, that’s how he remembers it — and teams up with another deceased detective, a gunslinger from the Old West (played by Jeff Bridges), to work for an elite task force, the Rest In Peace Department (hence the title), to track down the dead on Earth. (Due to overpopulation, some unsettled spirits haven’t gone where they’re supposed to and are hiding out). Technically, R.I.P.D. officers (who are overseen by Mary-Louise Parker) aren’t allowed to kill anyone living and aren’t supposed to interact with anyone from their previous lives, but Nick is haunted by the fact that he was murdered by another cop (played by Kevin Bacon) and can’t let it go.

First Word and Images from Gabriele Albanesi's SurroundedMany directors try, but few succeed in creating that perfect balance of suspense and violence and character development so essential to a home invasion flick. Next to make an attempt is Gabriele Albanesi with Surrounded. Check out the film's early details and some stills.

    From the Press Release:
Surrounded is a high tension international thriller shot in the English language with a cast of British and American actors, featuring the debut of Laura Girolami and Federico Patrizi. The lead role is played by Tatiana Luter, a promising young actress from Texas.

24 hours in the life of a young teacher (Luter) after her husband, a lawyer (Daniel Baldock), leaves for a business trip... Left alone in her country house completely isolated, she begins to be haunted by invisible and elusive presences, which besiege her more and more with the arrival of night. Will the woman live to see the light of day?

Albanesi, director of The Last House in the Woods and Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show, produced the film with his Gabriele Albanesi Productions. Currently in post-production, Surrounded will debut soon in international film festivals.

B-Sides: Who Knows What Original Sin Lurks in the Hearts of Men?

B-Sides: Who Knows What Original Sin Lurks in the Hearts of Men?The Shadow knows! Taylor Dane sings! A movie theme song that didn’t even get a Best Song nomination despite sounding so much like an Oscar-baiting Best Song wannabe the only way it could have been any more so would be if it were performed by Randy Newman.

Russell Mulcahey’s 1994 big screen adaptation of the classic pulp radio hero The Shadow, starring Alec Baldwin as the 1930s supernatural crime fighter, wasn’t exactly the franchise-launching hit Universal was hoping for. It pretty much fizzled right out of the gate when it opened July 4th weekend that year.

While opinions on the movie remain mixed, one thing remains unquestionable: The Shadow boasted what may very well have been the single most bombastic theme song to a film since Queen stopped doing movie soundtracks. “Original Sin” made good use of Taylor Dane’s impressive pipes, resulting in a song that sounds more appropriate to a Broadway production than a motion picture. Even the music video is loaded with Broadway style choreography, what with the half-naked back-up dancers whirling about a rooftop stage with the wind machine set to “Hurricane Katrina” levels.

Now seemed as good a time as any to showcase “Original Sin” in B-Sides given Universal just released The Shadow on Blu-ray for the first time and you won’t find this music video or any other extras on the disc. Perhaps that future Shout Factory special edition Blu-ray in the works will give Taylor Dane her due.

Pictures: The LEGO Movie -- From directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of 21 Jump Street comes the first ever full-length theatrical LEGO adventure, The LEGO Movie, about a perfectly average LEGO minifigure named Emmet who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Martin's werewolf/PI/serial killer mashup novella The Skin Trade, a chance to build your own monster, surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, a Neil Gaiman Spotlight panel, a look at what's coming from Diamond Select Toys, a how-to on creating suspenseful, exciting, anxiety-inducing stories, and per usual, a screening of "Buffy the Musical: Once More with Feeling" to close things out.

Since the horror offerings are so light, we've expanded our Day 4 highlights list to cover such topics as the future of sci-fi novels, the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who," censorship in comics, the yearly Starship Smackdown, LARPing, the CCI-IFF Awards, and our current favorite non-genre TV series, "Breaking Bad."

A Look Inside the Mind of Bill Oberst, Jr.

A Look Inside the Mind of Bill Oberst, Jr.Horror fans don't grant new performers legendary status on a regular basis. We cling to our heroes like treasures and limit inclusion into the upper echelon of the genre to a very select few. But people do manage to break through and win our undying respect and admiration, and Bill Oberst, Jr., is doing just that right now.

After appearing in the Emmy Award-winning short film Take This Lollipop (if, for some ungodly reason, you haven't seen it yet, absolutely check it out ASAP!), Oberst's popularity exploded; and he now has over 100 films to his credit, most within the past five years. This whirlwind of energy and excitement sat down with Dread Central recently to discuss his career, his fears and his upcoming films.

"I did theater for 14 years on the East Coast, and theater was all I ever wanted to do," Oberst Jr. said. "I was a big horror fan privately, but it never had anything to do with my career. So by chance someone said, 'You should audition for this thing the History Channel is doing about General Sherman and the Civil War called "Sherman's March". I'm from South Carolina originally so I knew the stories of Sherman raping the South. So I auditioned for the role and I got it and it got good reviews and ended up on the front page of The Wall Street Journal."

Oberst explained how he went from General Sherman's march to being the thing that goes bump in the night in so many horror projects. "I'd never thought about doing film, but I then wondered if I could," Oberst said. "I'd played historical characters and funny characters on stage so that's what I thought I'd do out here on the West Coast. So I got an agent, came out here and switched to film; and suddenly I couldn't get work! I couldn't get arrested! I was really, really starving. Then a nice director of photography took me to the side and said, 'Go dark. And the darker you go, the more you'll work. The camera really loves the darkness in your eyes and face.' And he was right."

With many titles now under his belt, Bill finds that the horror genre is a perfect fit for him. "The more I work in horror, the more my love of it coalesces with it onscreen… I hope! It's really all I want to do now. If I have a normal part, it's kind of boring. There's just something about monsters and fear that I've loved ever since I was a kid."

Oberst finds the horror genre to be very honest and true to itself. "Usually as an actor, there are parts of you that you don't like and you try to hide. And you always try to look your best. But in horror, you don't have to do that," Oberst explained. "I used to have this special makeup I'd put on my face to hide the scars, and now I don't wear it at all because that's my look! I've got this really freaky ribcage and a bony body and all those things… I used to wear padding onstage to try and look more normal. The horror fans are okay with who you are. I think the fans are aware that we're all going to die and they embrace that. And so weird and odd is okay with them. It's just awesome to be so honest with the fans and them to embrace you."

The Bill Oberst, Jr., we see on the screen is often a nightmarish spectacle, but he describes his normal routine as something… well, normal. "I'm a happy-go-lucky guy!" Oberst said. "I go to church and I go to bed at 9:30. I don't drink or smoke or do any drugs or anything. Like, I'm really Mr. Straightlaced Conservative. But when I get close to somebody and get my hands stroking their hair and looking into their eyes, something snaps and it's really cathartic. I love it." We're going to go ahead and assume that he's talking about on set. He didn't say on set, but let's hope that's what he meant.

Oberst discussed his preferences between supernatural characters and just plain crazy guys, and from there he delved into an interesting subject, pure fear. "I kind of prefer the supernatural. But the realistic is good if there's a deep character to dive into. If it's just a guy with an axe, then who cares? But if there's a deep soulfulness… what I really, really, really like is conflict. I love inner conflict. The fact that we all walk around with these faces painted on and people ask, 'How you doing?' And we say, 'Fine.' But we're not fine. Not a single, single one of us is fine. We have all this conflict swirling around and this dichotomy and weirdness inside of us. But we hide it and it's only when we wake up at 3 a.m. that we realize it's there. So any kind of character that has that written in it. That's honest. I love to dive into that kind of stuff."

A heavy answer indeed, so we encouraged Oberst to continue on the 3 a.m. fears. "I don't want to lie anymore and that's the great thing about doing horror. You don't need the pat answers. You don’t need a persona that's different from who you are. You can be completely honest about who you are. In what other genre can you do that? In what other genre can you talk about this stuff? So much of our culture says, 'Don't think about it. Don't think about it; look at this. Don't think about it; be distracted by this. Hey, look over here; here's pretty people. Hey, look over here; here's clothes. Hey look; here's sex.' And none of it can quiet that 3 a.m. voice."

"I'm no good at parties,"Oberst joked. "I just sit in the corner and talk about this stuff."

Oberst is currently featured in the film Ditch. "There's a young director named Joe Hendrick," Oberst said. "I did a short with him in which I wrestled a chicken… the chicken won. But I knew when I did the short that I wanted to work with this guy again because he's passionate, really excitable and he loves the bizarre. So in Ditch, okay, a guy has an axe and there's some kitsch, but Joe… he talks really fast and he's got this ponytail and he says, 'I wanna, I wanna make people feel. I wanna make 'em feel what's going on inside you when you got that axe and when you got it and it could be them.' And I was like, 'Yeah, Joe, let's do this.':

He continued about his character and experiences with Ditch. "We created this character, a character that I hope people will feel sorry for and feel more sympathy for than the people he's putting the axe into. That's why I really enjoyed doing it. Plus I got to chop a topless chick's hand off. We used a fireman's axe, which is the cool kind of axe with the curve on the back. I got to chop down a real door, which I had never done before. You have no idea how much fun it is to have people on the other side of a door and to chop, chop, chop until the door comes in. It was really hard not to poke my head through and say 'Heeere's Johnny.'"

Oberst is also featured in the upcoming film The Doom's Chapel Horror. Check out more on The Doom's Chapel Horror Facebook page.

Of course, even the best performers need quality material to work with. When considering a project, what does Oberst look for in a script? "I want something that makes my own skin crawl," he said. "Something that makes me uncomfortable. In some of the scripts I read, you know the outcome of the story in the first five pages. When I get a script like Children of Sorrow where some of the images get stuck in my mind, I thought, 'I've got to find a way to get in this movie' because if they can shoot what's on the page, these images are going to stick with people for years. That's the gold standard. It doesn't come along very often, but that's what you shoot for."

Oberst hopes to achieve some of his own iconic imagery during his career. "The Exorcist, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, even American Werewolf in London… these images will be with me when I die," Oberst said. "On my deathbed you'll be able to say to me, 'What did David Naughton's transformation look like?' Or, 'What was it like when Regan twisted her head around?' and I'll be able to tell you. That's my goal, to be part of projects like that. Growing up I had posters up on my wall and my mom said, 'Take that trash down!' So I want to be on some 14-year-old kid's wall and have their mother say, 'Take that trash down!'"

Indeed Oberst was a horror fan growing up and studied all the right stuff. "When I was a kid, I read Famous Monsters magazine, so I took the Dick Smith makeup course by correspondence," Oberst said. "Me, a little kid in South Carolina, and I wrote off to the Westmores who, at that time, were the big makeup family. And Bud Westmore wrote me back and sent me a picture, and I still have it. A picture of the Westmore family. And he wrote, 'Billy, keep chasing your dreams.' He took the time to write that and send it back. I think horror people have always been this way. I remember hearing stories about Vincent Price and how nice he was also."

With 100 films now to his credit, Oberst is finding a true love with horror. "You never know with low budget films, but if you put all your passion into it, sometimes that covers a multitude of low budget sins," Oberst said. "The original Nightmare on Elm Street was not a huge budget. I know they kept Wes Craven on a pretty tight budget. Robert Englund was unknown. He was my age when that happened, and it just shocked everybody."

And with Oberst's incredible workload, horror fans have to make the correlation between him and another legend of the genre, Debbie Rochon. "I'll take that!" Oberst said. Debbie is awesome! I raped her about three years ago in a Swedish film called Ripped Memories. It was marital rape as she was unwilling because she was having an affair with my son. Whatever! But she's awesome. She's a really good actress and she works her tail off, and I'd love to be the male Debbie Rochon. I've got a movie coming up with Debbie called The Bloody Clementines by JimmyO Burril It's me, Debbie and April "Chainsaw Sally" Burril. It's about a group of country women and their momma and they believe it's religiously wrong to marry, but they can keep men in cages and abuse them." Sounds like a great opportunity for another memorable Bill Oberst, Jr., performance!

“We feel this story needs to be told,” producer Jennifer Blanc-Biehn said previously. “It’s based on a true criminal case. Three out of every four women are abused throughout the world so we hope to be able to not only tell a story but also donate some of the proceeds to a few women’s charities to stop the violence.”
