Synopsis

The cast and producers of AMC's "The Walking Dead" will participate in an hour-long panel at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, CA. Moderated by "Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick, "The Walking Dead" panelists will discuss what fans can expect in the highly anticipated fourth season, which debuts in October. Panelists include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Chad Coleman, Scott Wilson, Executive Producer and Showrunner Scott Gimple, Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd, Executive Producer Robert Kirkman, Executive Producer David Alpert, and Executive Producer and Special Effects Make-up Supervisor Greg Nicotero.

In addition, fans this year are invited to participate in the second annual "The Walking Dead Escape," a zombie obstacle course at Petco Park during Comic-Con weekend. The course is open July 19th and 20th from 5PM to 10PM PT and allows survivors to climb, crawl, and slide as part of the adventure and to also avoid confrontation by hordes of walkers.

With the success (so far anyway) of CBS'"Under the Dome," ABC looks to be jumping on the Stephen King bandwagon by acquiring a pilot script from "Haven" creators Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn based on a King-penned short story.

The title of the story - a bit too long for TV most likely - is "The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates," which was originally published in the October/November 2008 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and also appeared in the 2008 short story collection Just After Sunset.

Ernst shared the news via his Twitter feed:

- Also, big news coming from me and HavenJim [Dunn] - like where we've been and what we've been doing. It probably ain't what you think...
- But it does involve a young up and coming writer named Stephen King...
- This (sorta) just in: Jim Dunn and I have sold a pilot script to ABC based on a Stephen King short story,"New York Times at Bargain Rates."

What's the plot? Per Wikipedia:

A widow answers a phone call from her husband, who died two days earlier in an airplane crash. He is presumably in an afterlife. The husband predicts two tragedies which later came true and helps his wife avoid death herself.

We know our stuff when it comes to horror movies. From the indie bizarre to the Hollywood blockbuster, we've got this stuff covered. We are also ridiculously happy about all the mainstream media coverage of Sharknado. But did you know this is not the first on-screen Sharknado sighting?

There's no doubt the title alone of Anthony C. Ferrante's Sharknado just begs to be remembered. How could you not, right? Since we saw the movie weeks ago, the title has been nagging at us. We knew we'd heard that moniker before. Turns out we were exactly right.

In 2012 the Syfy channel aired the After Dark Original film Leprechaun's Revenge, also known as Red Clover, which was directed by Dread Central favorite Drew Daywalt and written by Sharknado director Ferrante, there was a line that literally announces the coming of Sharknado. It takes place in a scene about thirty-five minutes in between Deputy Peterson (Azure Parsons) and news reporter Karl Morris (Karl Herlinger). Now via the power of my trusty iPhone camera, we have it for you! Check out the scene which started the entire media phenomenon the world is now entranced by - right here, right now!

Synopsis:
Ciarán O’Shea, the handsome though washed up policeman of sleepy Erin Island, has a daily routine consisting mainly of hanging out at the pub with the local drunks and various other charmingly eccentric characters. But his day is about to go horribly wrong.

Teamed up with the unwanted help of Lisa – an uptight workaholic policewoman from the Irish mainland – they suddenly find themselves dealing with dead whales, decapitated fishermen and weird alien creatures or “grabbers”. We here at Dread Central are proud to announce our involvement in the upcoming T.A.B.L.E. event taking place in the Dallas/Fort Worth area during spring 2014. Read on for the details and more info on what T.A.B.L.E.'s all about.

T.A.B.L.E. stands for Tabletop And Boardgame Learning Expo. Launched by Tiffany Franzoni, owner of Roll2Play Games in Coppell, TX, the intent of T.A.B.L.E. is to bring people who do not currently play tabletop games together with those that do to demonstrate what 'unplugged' games can do for a community.

Taking place March 29-30, 2014, the T.A.B.L.E. event will feature panels, vendors, and of course gaming, all focused on various ways meeting together to play can change and enhance a community. Gaming luminaries like Steve Jackson will be present, various game companies have already pledged their support, and now Dread Central is thrilled to add our name to the pile.

At the event Dread Central will have an area dedicated to horror gaming so that horror fans know where to go to find out what they've been missing. This area will be staffed by yours truly, with tons of horror games available for play.

In the tabletop world, horror isn't a niche genre, it's a solid 1/3 of the overall market. Horror in board and card games is HUGE these days. Major releases like the Arkham Horrorgames based on HP Lovecraft's mythos top the sales charts. Original horror worlds like the zombie apocalypse of Last Night on Earthand the 18th century monster hunting of A Touch of Evil" provide story-based adventures while more casual titles like Zombie Diceand Ghooost! cater to fast and spooky fun.

There's currently a Kickstarter campaign running to get T.A.B.L.E. fully funded. From award-winning Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva (The Maid) comes the acclaimed thriller MAGIC MAGIC, available August 6th on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Starring Juno Temple (Killer Joe, The Dark Knight Rises), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, The Uninvited), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Che, Maria Full of Grace), Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad), and Agustín Silva (Crystal Fairy, The Maid), the film tells the chilling story of a naive young tourist (Temple) whose road trip across Chile with friends turns into a waking nightmare. MAGIC MAGIC invoked terror in audiences and praise from critics at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The film “offers a more than entertaining diversion from the typical blood and guts of the genre,” according to Sound on Sight’s Scott Colquitt. Synopsis

In a foreign country, far from home, Alicia (Juno Temple) arrives in South America to vacation with her cousin, Sarah (Emily Browning). Bewildered, frightened, and unable to sleep, Alicia’s reality becomes a nightmare from which there is no waking. MAGIC MAGIC was written by Sebastián Silva. Synopsis
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

About Muck
After narrowly escaping an ancient burial ground, long forgotten and buried underneath the marshes of Cape Cod, a group of friends emerge from the thick, marshy darkness, tattered and bloody, lucky to be alive. They have already lost two of their friends in the marsh, presumably dead. They stumble upon an empty Cape Cod vacation house alongside the foggy marsh and break in to take shelter. Whatever was in the marsh is still after them, and soon after one of them goes for help, the rest of the group learns that the evil in the marsh is not the only thing that wants them dead. Something worse, something more savage, was lying in wait just outside the marsh, in the house. What happens next is unspeakable, horror that cannot be unseen. These unlucky travelers spend their St. Patrick's Day trapped between two evils forcing them to fight, die, or go back the way they came.

Muck can be best described as Evil Dead meets The Hills Have Eyes meets Die Hard. The MPAA has yet to offer their ruling, but it's safe to assume that Muck will receive a "Hard" R rating that will read something like this: Strong intense violence, graphic nudity, hard language, disturbing images and creature gore throughout. Casting is under way for Offed, the prequel to Muck, that will be shot later this year.

MovieMaze is an upcoming interactive app that looks delightfully fun. It lets the audience decide which way a film will play out - kind of like a modern movie version of Dragon's Lair.

So get ready, San Diego; MovieMaze and its first star character, Indeep Sheet, are coming to Comic-Con!

Watch out, big entertainment conglomerates; here comes the small but mighty Mechanic, and he’s got a new fix for mobile audiences. The Mechanic is the first release of MovieMaze, a comedy adventure series for smartphones and tablets, which officially greets the world at San Diego Comic-Con July 17-21.

Created by UK-based Stickmen Pictures and Hollywood’s Leomark Studios, The Mechanic and later MovieMaze releases are comic multi-adventure movies aimed at the 13–30 demographic and designed as an app for use on all iOS and Android devices. Viewers watch a sequence and then select from a series of choices to advance the storyline, much like those classic Choose Your Own Adventure books and games of the 1980s, but now in live-action video. "And with 40 different in-app options," says writer-director Rishi Thaker, "MovieMaze proves that smartphones and tablets can deliver interactive entertainment beyond animated games and reality shows."

Available in September, MovieMaze is in an unofficial race-to-market against bigger productions like Fox’s Choose Your Own Adventure movie, which is still in development. "We don’t have a huge marketing machine behind us, but we’re using our size to advantage," says producer Erik Lundmark. "Because our team is small and focused, we’ve been able to take The Mechanic from concept to market launch in five months. Try doing that at a big studio."

The Mechanic star, Jacob P. Matthews, will be on hand at Comic-Con Preview Night July 17, along with Thaker and Lundmark. Other cast and crew will make appearances throughout the convention. MovieMaze is located in booth #5535.

Leomark/Stickmen plan to release two more MovieMaze adventures, “The Plumber” and “The Private Eye,” in 2014.

Some news that should surprise no one has just come in regarding HBO's "True Blood": The network has renewed the popular series for a seventh season. Read on for the details.

HBO has renewed the hit show "TRUE BLOOD" for a seventh season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. New episodes of the series will debut in summer 2014, with executive producer Brian Buckner returning as showrunner.

“'TRUE BLOOD' remains a signature show for HBO and a true phenomenon with our viewers,” noted Lombardo. “Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV.”

The sixth season of TRUE BLOOD, which launched June 26, has inspired critical raves, with the Boston Herald praising the show for “suspense, surprises, and crackling dialogue,” while US Weekly noted that the show’s “cheeky humor and vivid imagination are still there to relish,” and the New York Post called it “bloody hilarious.” According to early data, the show is already exceeding ten million viewers per episode.
