The press roundtables at SDCC for "The Following" were jam-packed with juicy tidbits of what we can expect in Season 2, and we have all the highlights here along with some footage from the panel.

In case you missed the news, James Purefoy made an unannounced appearance at Comic-Con, cementing speculation that Joe Carroll would return in Season 2. As you'll see in one of the below videos, the SDCC crowd is thrilled to have him back.

First we spoke with executive producer Marcos Siega, who told us the show will be reset and Poe won’t be a driving part of the story anymore. At the beginning of Episode 1 of Season 2, the end scene from the Season 1 finale will conclude, and then the show fast-forwards a year. Those scenes were already shot when filming last season. Throughout the new season flashbacks will be used to tell the audience what happened during that year, and there will be consequences to Ryan Hardy’s killing the cult follower after Agent Parker’s death.

With regard to the show's violence and tone, to get past network censors, they always tried to create suspense before the violent scenes so the audience felt it more, even though the violence was not necessarily shown. They set the dark tone from the beginning and kept it constant throughout.

Next we chatted with Shawn Ashmore, aka Agent Mike Weston. While Mike started Season 1 somewhat naïve and innocent, the character evolved to show his underlying toughness in order to live through the beating he suffered early on. He played the character as a mirror to Ryan Hardy’s difficult emotional and physical state when he was investigating Joe Carroll the first time and to show how far down that path Mike Weston would go.

At one time the character of Mike Weston was on the chopping block. There was a scene where Debra and Mike were in peril separately and Ryan Hardy had to make a tough choice as to who to save. But that scene never happened.

In Season 2 Mike continues down a dark path with repercussions and consequences for his actions affecting him, but his bond with and trust in Ryan are still there. We'll learn more of his back story as Season 2 is less a manhunt with more room for the characters to breathe this go-around. There will be an influx of new characters - good and bad - but no one has been cast yet.

Kevin Bacon told us that as Season 2 begins, Ryan Hardy is healthier and has become a teacher. We’ll meet more members of the Hardy family, and while the show's surprises and shocks will remain, the tone is lightening up a bit, at least at the beginning. The audience will be able to see his character in a new place/head space although having Ryan now be a teacher is similar to when he used to watch Joe Carroll teach in flashbacks.

He also shared that at one point Ryan Hardy was going to have a limp, but he brought up the difficulty of acting with a limp for years (assuming the show was a success) so Kevin Williamson went back to a heart problem as Ryan's disability.

James Purefoy, looking dapper with a fresh beard he was requested to grow for his role as Joe Carroll, said he vaguely knows that his character is alive but not where he is. Or possibly since the show uses flashbacks a lot, he's not alive. He is just not sure. *big tease*

He said there's lots still to come for Joe. He was very selfish, and really everything he did was about getting his family back; the "Following" was not his focus. What he wants most to see for Joe in Season 2 is for him to go even darker with a bigger trajectory - more murder, mischief, and mayhem but on a grander scale. Joe is a smart man; if he is still alive, he will look back and process his failure and where he went wrong.

We had just a few minutes with Valorie Curry, who told us that since Emma has never existed beyond Joe Carroll’s protection and the cult’s definition, especially after killing Jacob, she is now completely lost in the world.

We wrapped up with Kevin Williamson, who gave us a few more scoops. He basically sees the show as a series of books. After the reset, Season 2 will be slightly different without adhering to a strict seasonal formula. In the new storyline, with Hardy living in New York City and no longer in the FBI, his character will have much healthier relationships; whereas, as alluded to by Ashmore, Weston will become more like the old Ryan Hardy.

One of the members of Ryan's family that we'll meet is his niece, who is also a cop. The Season 2 storyline will launch into Season 3, similarly to how he wrote "The Vampire Diaries," where new characters and storylines of the next season are related to those in the current one. He jokingly suggested an appearance of Dawson Leery. He mentioned that at one time he had Matt Davis in mind for the part of Roderick, but when he was unavailable, he remembered Warren Kole, who had, ironically, auditioned to play Alaric in "TVD."

In Season 2 there may not be a cult necessarily; they will explore where Joe Carroll is and what has he been doing, questions that will be answered in the first few episodes.

Who is safe? Who can they trust? Reality becomes blurred as they slowly discover the source of the virus causing the sickness...and there is no going back.

A few months ago director Robin Hardy embarked on a journey to locate lost footage from his 1973 cult horror classic The Wicker Man. His journey was successful, and our friends across the pond will be experiencing the fruits of his labor first!

According to Screen Daily a worldwide appeal to retrieve missing film material for horror classic The Wicker Man has turned up an original print that will released by StudioCanal this autumn. The Wicker Man: The Final Cut will be released in cinemas on September 27 and on DVD and Blu-ray October 14 in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the flick.

Hardy said: “StudioCanal contacted me last year in their search for the original materials that have been missing. I’m very pleased to announce that StudioCanal have been able to find an actual print of The Wicker Man, which is based on my original cut working with Abraxas, the American distributors, all those years ago. They plan, and this is the exciting bit, to actually release it. This version has never been restored before, has never been shown in UK theatres before, has never been converted to Blu-ray before. This version will - optimistically - be known as the Final Cut.”

The Wicker Man was originally released with minimal promotion as the second feature in a double bill with Don’t Look Now. The version exhibited to audiences was significantly shorter (88mins) than Hardy’s original vision (102mins). The negatives disappeared from storage at Shepperton Studios and were allegedly used as landfill in the construction of the nearby M4 motorway. StudioCanal now intends to mark the 40th anniversary by releasing the “most complete version of the film possible.”

Good news has finally arrived for those of you out there looking forward to the upcoming Mike Mendez flick Big Ass Spider! Epic Pictures Releasing has locked an October 18, 2013 domestic release for the flick which will be available theatrically and on VOD at the same time.

Battling the beast are Greg Grunberg ("Heroes", "Alias") and Lombardo Boyar ("The Bernie Mac Show"), who star as Alex, an exterminator, and Jose, his security guard sidekick, respectively. The unlikely heroes team up with an elite military unit that includes genre vets Clare Kramer (The Gravedancers) and Ray Wise (X-Men: First Class, "Twin Peaks").

Mendez explains what drew him to the project: "The script was hilarious, and as we got into the creature design and the casting, we had one objective in mind: fun! I love the tone of this movie and think audiences are going to have a wild time.”

Synopsis
Surviving extermination by nuclear eradication, a horrible alien mutation in arachnid form is now growing at an exponential rate and making its way toward downtown Los Angeles. It took us awhile to get this story up as MattFini was hoarding the following image like Daffy Duck with a newly discovered pearl in a clam. In any event, we wrestled it away from him and here it is.

Per CBS: "UNDER THE DOME" posted growth in viewers and adults 18-49, marking its second consecutive week of increases, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Monday, July 22. At 10:00 PM, "UNDER THE DOME" was first in viewers (11.37m), adults 25-54 (3.7/09), and adults 18-49 (2.8/08). Compared to last week, "UNDER THE DOME" was up +4% in adults 18-49 (from 2.7/08) and added +240,000 viewers (from 11.13m, +2%). "UNDER THE DOME" posted its best viewers and adults 18-49 deliveries since July 1, 2013.

"UNDER THE DOME" was the night's #1 broadcast in viewers, adults 25-54, and adults 18-49, topping its closest competitor ("The Bachelorette") by nearly five million viewers. "UNDER THE DOME" also grew at 10:30 PM in viewers (11.53m from 11.22m, +3%) and adults 18-49 (2.8 from 2.7, +4%).

"Under the Dome" Episode 1.06 - "The Endless Thirst" (airs 7/29/13)
When the town begins to run low on water, the residents of Chester’s Mill begin to fight for the remaining resources. Meanwhile, Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) discovers a strange connection that two of the town’s residents have with the Dome.

In the below first look photo from TV Guide of Natalie Zea ("Justified,""The Following") on "Under the Dome," she and Barbie seem to be getting chummy. Here's how she described her character, which we'll first see on August 19th: "I play Maxine, an out-of-towner who has been in Chester's Mill since the dome came down but has been hiding, lying in wait, ready to make her move. She came to Chester's Mill on an errand and has associations with some of the key players, including Big Jim [Dean Norris]."

Maxine is a real estate broker and has a connection to the mysterious Agatha (Mare Winningham), who has been looking after one of the town's homes. "Maxine is not happy being stuck under the dome but is making the most of the situation," says Zea. "And I get to carry a gun, which I rarely get to do!"

From the headline you would think, "What? Dread Central is covering porn now?" But that's not the case. In fact, while that would be fun if we could get away with it, what we're really talking about here is an entirely different kind of beast.

According to THR director-producer Timur Bekmambetov’s company Bazelevs has begun shooting a sci-fi action thriller entitled Hardcore starring Sharlto Copley, and it is being advertised as “the world’s first POV action movie.”

“We are the first people in the world who are shooting a POV action adventure film,” says first-time director Ilya Naishuller. “No one has ever done anything like that. We have a very interesting mix. We have wild action, we have lots of stunts that haven’t been done before, and we have a strong story.”

Naishuller got the directing job on the strength of a music video he directed for his indie rock band Biting Elbows. The video for "Bad Motherfucker" (see below), released last March, became a huge hit, generating more than 23 million views in four weeks. The video’s look and style is to be used in the movie, which is being shot with a GoPro camera.

The story is centered on a cyborg created at a secret Moscow laboratory who is trying to find a girl he was in love with in his previous life.

“In line with the title, this will be a very hardcore film, R-rated. It’s going to be an absolutely male film.”

“I saw [Naishuller’s video], and it was amazing; it was a very different approach to action,” Copley told THR. “He’s almost reinventing the action genre for the new generation. We work on a very small budget, but it gives us a level of freedom to try things and to experiment."

The release is tentatively scheduled for 2014.

Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, unveiled the first round of titles set to premiere in the Galas and Special Presentations programmes at the 38th Toronto International Film Festival (September 5 to 15, 2013).

Tony Jopia (Deadtime, Crying Wolf) is readying the ’80s inspired grisly British comic-horror flick Cute Little Buggers 3D starring Caroline Monroe, Joe Egan, Kristofer Dayne, Gary Martin, John R. Walker, Dani Thompson, Jess Jantschek, Samar Sarila, Jo Price, Sarah Bennett and Leslie Grantham.

The flick, described as Gremlins meets Hot Fuzz set in the English countryside, is set for release in June 2014.

Behold the 3-Door Hyundai Veloster: Zombie Killer Edition, which was on display during the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con. A spokesperson at Hyundai had this to say: “The Veloster Turbo is perfect for the zombie apocalypse [for] a couple of reasons: speed, obviously, being a turbo, lightweight... it’s a 3-door car, so the third door actually gives easy in/easy out access for all the weaponry we’ve got on this thing.”

The concept car carries ankle-level blades, spikes, and chainsaws as well as a fully articulated turret that turns 360 degrees on top of the car. There’s also electrified barbed wire over the windows! SWEET! If only we could have taken it for a test drive right on the show floor Dead Rising style!

Over the weekend NECA announced that they had acquired the license for The Planet of the Apes and took to Twitter to dish a bit on what we can expect from that... “[We] have the Apes license for both modern & classic” and are “planning on doing a lot with it. [It was a] fave since childhood.” So figures based on the entire Apes franchise? Yes, please! Can we just ignore the ones from that Tim Burton shitfest? Well, a couple of them were kinda cool! In other NECA headlines the company plans to continue dabbling in the Alien universe with 35th Anniversary figures based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic. We just checked in with the cats behind the Black Devil Doll TV show, "There Goes Da Neighba'hood," and it turns out that while we weren't paying attention they dropped several big announcements and a new poster!

First let's play a little catch up... Mars Homeworld has signed on to do the music for the show, including the theme song which is riotously hilarious, and we hope to bring you that soon. Also, joining the previously announced cast which included Trent Haaga and Heidi Honeycutt, The Howard Stern Show's Richard Christy (Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay) has joined the cast.

Black Devil Doll fans, the loonies who made the first extremely infamous film need your support as they're looking to bring the antics of everyone's favorite ass bumpin' puppet home in a big way!

If all goes well, the Black Devil Doll television show will be a 6-part, 30-minute per episode television series called "There Goes Da Neighborhood."

That's right... over 3 hours of raunchy and hysterical Black Devil Doll goodness! And they ain't pulling any punches, either. "What we're talkin' about here is your traditional 1980's-style sitcom, shot on sets, super fast-paced, with a laughtrack, a cheeseball theme song, the whole ball of wax," says director Jonathan Lewis. "The main difference is that it's going to be so incredibly over-the-top and filthy that not a single network would touch it. We're going to make a show EXACTLY the way we want to make it. And it's going to blow your fucking mind."

The folks behind the long talked about Poltergeist remake have found their star in Rosemarie DeWitt (“Mad Men,” “United States of Tara”). Read on for more details, and now that casting is under way, look for more REALLY soon!

According to Deadline, DeWitt (pictured) is the choice to play the female lead in Poltergeist, the new installment of the Tobe Hooper-directed horror classic that will be made by MGM and Fox 2000, with Gil Kenan directing a script by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Jobeth Williams and Craig T. Nelson were the original parents whose ideal family life is uprooted by a cavalcade of spirits that culminates in the kidnap of their youngest daughter. A male lead is currently being sought.

Poltergeist Summary:
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), a division of MGM Holdings Inc., has partnered with Fox 2000 Pictures, a division of Twentieth Century Fox, to co-finance and distribute Poltergeist.

Gil Kenan (Monster House) is set to direct from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire (whose recent credits include Oz: The Great and Powerful). The film is being produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) and Rob Tapert (The Possession) via Ghost House Pictures along with Roy Lee (The Strangers). Nathan Kahane (The Grudge) will serve as executive producer.

Poltergeist will be marketed and distributed worldwide by Twentieth Century Fox, with select international territories as well as international television distribution being handled by MGM. Fox will also handle home entertainment and domestic television. MGM and Twentieth Century Fox continue their longtime partnership as Fox also distributes MGM’s home entertainment product.

In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.

Poltergeist is scheduled to begin production this fall.

Synopsis
Ten years after the Black Plague ravaged their country, a poor family sets out on a journey for a new home. On a remote mountain pass they are attacked by a band of merciless killers led by the vicious Dagmar (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal), and the only one spared is young Signe (Isabel Christine Andreasen), who is taken hostage. At the gang’s camp she meets fellow kidnap victim Frigg (Milla Olin) and learns that a terrible fate awaits her. There is nothing for it but to escape, but Dagmar will not let Signe go that easily…
