When it comes to making zombies, it always seems so much worse when mindless raving berserkers are created by government tomfoolery. Project: S.E.R.A. doesn't feature zombies in the traditional sense, but this version of the undead monster could be worse.

Written and directed by Benjamin Howdeshell, Project: S.E.R.A. stars Julia Voth (Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil video games, Bitch Slap), Victor Webster (Scorpion King III, Mutant X) and Dennis Keiffer (stunt actor from GI Joe, Superman, Green Hornet) interwoven into some back alley dealings that have a decorated United States general being treated less than regally and eventually zombified.

The film is shot beautifully with some great action and kick-ass F/X work. For more info be sure to "like" Project: S.E.R.A. on Facebook and follow @ProjectSera on Twitter. Check it out!

Project S.E.R.A. Synopsis
A young woman watches helplessly as her father, a decorated general, is tortured and killed with an experimental biological weapon. When he suddenly reanimates in a ferocious bloodthirsty state, she must use the combat skills he taught her to escape both her captors and the creature he has become.

New Jack Pierce Figure to Sculpt Horror at Monsterpalooza

    0
    0

New Jack Pierce Figure to Sculpt Horror at MonsterpaloozaEmce Toys, the brand that revived the classic Mego style 1/9-scale “retro cloth” action figures of the 1970s, is partnering with the Monsterpalooza convention to create limited edition handcrafted Mego-scale exclusives for the April 2012 event in Burbank, California.

To honor legendary Universal makeup maestro Jack Pierce, Emce is creating a very small number of 8” tall figures of Pierce, complete with barber’s tunic and likeness-accurate head sculpt. An even smaller number of MEGO-scale replicas of Pierce’s famous makeup chair will be created as well. Pierce’s head was sculpted by Mike Hill, world renowned portrait sculptor and artist whose career runs the gamut from privately commissioned work to Hollywood blockbusters.

Monsterpalooza fans know Hill from his hyper-realistic statue of Boris Karloff being made up in Jack Pierce’s chair (on display
    at the 2009 show).

The chair is a replica of the brand of barber chair that Pierce used throughout his career, digitally recreated by Emce designer Carolyn Seyster, with handsculpted fittings by makeup artist, sculptor and garage-kit veteran Shane McGowin. Heads and chair replicas will all be cast, assembled and painted by hand in the US at the Emce workshop in Long Island, New York.

With six, going on eight Mego-scale Universal Monsters we’ve designed for Diamond Select Toys, this is the perfect unique addition to any collectors’ Mego Monsters display,” said Joe Sena, president of Fourth Castle Micromedia, the parent company of Emce Toys. Diamond Select Toys has released four Emce designed Mego-style monsters: Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy and Dracula. Two more, the Bride of Frankenstein and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, were recently unveiled at the New York Toy Fair.

Prototypes of the Bride and the Creature will be on display at Monsterpalooza as well. “Some people are unaware that one man not only created the look of the iconic Universal Monsters but also painstakingly applied the make-ups in transforming actor into creature,” said Eliot Brodsky, Monsterpalooza President. "Makeup master Jack Pierce’s work has passed the test of time going on to inspire future generations of makeup artists. As a Monsterpalooza exclusive, created by Emce Toys, we are excited to have this wonderful collectible of Jack Pierce and his makeup chair available for young and old to enjoy.

The Pierce figure is limited to 50 pieces and the replica of the chair is limited to 25 pieces. Photos of the progress on both items can be viewed on the Emce Toys Facebook page and also on the pre-order pages on Emce’s sister company FearWerx – The Scary Mall.

The Pierce figure is available for $74.99 and the chair replica is available for pre-order at $199.99. Both items can be pre-ordered now and can either be picked up at the Monsterpalooza event in Burbank April 13-15 or shipped directly from the Emce warehouse.

First Info and One-Sheet for The Prospector's Curse

    0
    0

The 49er. I'm not talking about the San Fran type that was just a couple of bobbled balls away from the Super Bowl this year... I’m talking about the real thing. The water panning, gold tooth wearing, scraggly haired, crazy eyed character from early American history. That's what we're looking at in the upcoming short The Prospector's Curse.

Yukon Cornelius be damned. You know these early prospectors had to be a little unbalanced. You can't just sit with a pan in the water all day hoping gold will wash up into it without being a little touched. It's this fun thought that drives The Prospector's Curse, which incidentally carries the tagline "There's blood in them there hills!". It's early in 2012, but that is officially one of our favorite tags so far this year.

The film is currently in post-production in Toronto, Canada. For more info visit The Prospector's Curse Facebook page. A May 2012 release date is planned, but for now dig on the badass poster below.

    About The Prospector's Curse
A western-themed horror film entitled “The Prospector’s Curse” has wrapped production near the remote town of Pontypool, Ontario. Set during the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890’s, the darkly comedic short is written and directed by Josh Heisie (Mail Order Bride) and produced by Bruno Marino (Anything Goes).

The talent lineup for The Prospector’s Curse includes David Roberts (Curious and Unusual Deaths), Johnny Quinn (Mind’s Eye: The Series), Amanda Ives (I Hate Toronto: A Love Story) and Robert Nolan (Worm). Rounding out the creative team are Director of Photography Michael Jari Davidson (SICK) and Special Effects Makeup Artist Carlos Henriques (Red: Werewolf Hunter) of The Butcher Shop.

    Synopsis
Theodore “Tubby” Ellsworth and Jack Smith are two criminals on the run, lost in the untamed wilderness. When they stumble across a mutilated prospector, dying on Native American land, they promise to give him a Christian burial. The fugitives break their oath and steal the old man’s gold, but that night the prospector’s corpse returns to make them pay!

Full Moon Entertainment continues to prep for Puppet Master X: Axis Rising by revealing yet another new scarionette, but first Charles Band will bring us something not starring killer puppets or other assorted puppet-sized terrors: an audacious zombie flick starring Eric Roberts.

Entitled The Dead Want Women and directed by Charles Band, the film stars Roberts, Ariana Madix (Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt), Jean-Louise O’Sullivan (Gingerdead Man 3), Circus Szalewski (Evil Bong 3D) and Jessica Morris (Dangerous Worry Dolls). The story begins at an elegant mansion during the 1920′s; a socialite, flappers, and the men who love them come to their ultimate demise, but their ghosts continue to haunt the mansion throughout the decade. Now they’ve come back to haunt and chase after a fresh generation of beautiful girls.

Full Moon Direct has unveiled the poster artwork for this outlandish zombie flick complete with your first look at what appears to be the melted, moldy cheese zombie face of star Eric Roberts. The Dead Want Women will set its eyes on DVD racks sometime this summer.

Full Moon Reveals The Dead Want Women Artwork and the Newest Addition to the Puppet Master Family

A few days ago Full Moon also revealed the newest puppet that will take its bow in the forthcoming Puppet Master X: Axis of Evil, which Band will direct himself. Below you will see the World War II Japanese fighter pilot inspired “Kamikaze”, quite possibly the most politically incorrect entry into the Puppet Master canon.

A Video Recap of Being Human (UK) Before its Series Four US Debut on February 25th

    0
    0

Yes, we're fans of the US version of "Being Human" on Syfy, but that doesn't mean we're not uber excited for the UK version's return to BBC America this coming Saturday night, February 25th. If you're the same, then be sure to watch this recap before the new season begins.

BBC America's hit series "Being Human" returns February 25th at 9:00 pm ET/PT as part of the network's Supernatural Saturday. In its fourth chapter, the show is reinvigorated with new cast members, shocking plot twists, guest appearances, and an altogether new type of supernatural creature. In sharing his excitement about the new season, creator and writer Toby Whithouse ("Doctor Who", "Torchwood") promises: “We take you to somewhere we’ve never been to before.”

Whithouse continues, "Every year we set ourselves the task of creating something bigger and bolder and better than anything that’s happened before. We knew this year was going to be especially tough because of the various cast changes... The mountain before us seemed even higher than usual. But once we’d stopped rocking and shaking, we saw Season Four as an opportunity: We could invent new characters, expand the show in different directions, create new worlds and monsters and heroes, and add new layers to the overarching 'Being Human' mythology. Suddenly Season Four was a genuinely thrilling prospect. But the essential DNA of the show remains the same. Recently I found the pitch document I wrote for Season One. This was the opening paragraph: ‘We’re the stuff of nightmares. And we’re your only hope. George, Mitchell and Annie yearn for their vanished humanity. "Being Human" is a unique twist on the aspirational drama, as the things Mitchell, Annie and George struggle to achieve are so common place and normal to us, yet impossibly remote to them. And the desire to be accepted by their old lost race will drive them to acts of immense courage, and foolish hazard. Our heroes may be like characters that have tumbled from the pages of a book, but their problems are always recognisably human, and the stories will strike a balance between the supernatural and the domestic.’"

"Obviously, a lot can happen in four years. But looking back at it now, I’m relieved to see that those words are still relevant for a show that has a new cast, a new location, an American reincarnation and expanded beyond our wildest dreams. As ever, 'Being Human' lives or dies on the strength of the characters and the cast, and that’s why I think this season is our strongest yet.”

    Being Human (UK) Series 4

    Synopsis:
Following the gripping Series Three finale in which viewers watched Mitchell fall victim to the wolf-shaped bullet, Series Four sees the aftermath as the housemates return to their home in Barry Island. There are also some new faces in town...

In an old B&B in a sleepy seaside town, we join Annie, her housemate George, and their new friend. They’re reeling from the loss of their best friend Mitchell, Tom’s father figure McNair, and the tragic departure of George’s girlfriend, Nina. But with a newborn baby to look after, it’s never been more difficult to live life under-the-radar as a ghost and two werewolves.

There are also the vampires to deal with: lurking in every corner of society, waiting for the Old Ones to arrive and take over the world with brutal force. Can they fight them off? And at what cost? One thing becomes clear – the vampires believe that the child of two werewolves is important in their own mythology. Can this little baby really be the saviour of humanity? And what exactly are Cutler’s ‘alternative’ plans for world domination?

Starring Lenora Crichlow as Annie, Russell Tovey as George, Michael Socha as Tom, Damien Molony as Hal, Andrew Gower as Cutler, Alex Jennings as Griffin, Mark Williams as Regus, Louis Mahoney as Leo, Tamla Kari as Pearl, Darren Evans as Dewi, Anthony Flanagan as Fergus, Sean Francis as Lucas, and Mali Harries as Lisa.

Having been to and investigated so many different haunted areas across the world, Zak waxed on about what would be his ultimate ghost adventure ... "I’d like to kind of get a break from American history and American spirits. Go deeper. I’m so interested in how certain cultures, thousands and thousands of years ago, had the beliefs that they did. How they were able to build the way they did. They lived on a different planet, man. They didn’t live on Earth. Or Earth as we perceive it today. As far as I’m concerned they were like different beings. They knew things then that would end up having such a big effect on us today. How did they know these things? It’s so mysterious. In the present day we look at different stories and the story of Christ. How he died for our sins. It’s based upon these handed down stories and what not. Then on the other hand you have these cultures like the Mayans and the Egyptians. What they did and were able to accomplish ... it’s just so fascinating to me. In our investigations we sometimes go back in history about a hundred years to come to our conclusion. That's what we’re doing now, but can you imagine going back 2,000 years, or 3,000 years, or 5,000 years, trying to capture voices or evidence of their spiritual beings or where they’re at? Just to see. You know what I mean?"

Bagans continues, "The spirits who we investigate nowadays died 100, 200, 300 years ago. We’ve got evidence of that. I really want to see if we can get evidence of human beings that lived three or four thousand years ago. They had so many spiritual thoughts, their hieroglyphics ... everything, Their whole culture was based on spirits and gods. Like the American Indians. I want to know how they came up with this. How did they know? Without any technology, no transportation, no history, no nothing. They just existed. Their history was prehistoric. How’d they come up with these pictures? How’d they come up with their language? Where’d they get that from? I just want to try and get evidence that they’re still there. If I can’t get evidence that they’re still places where they dwell, then I know that they knew something that we don't. If they are at a different place; their spirits are in a different world somewhere. Look at the spirits of those that are now trapped. You can see how our culture has caused us, living people, to be trapped in our own lives. There is so much bullshit out there right now. It causes our souls to be trapped. It would be kind of be cool to see how the ancient past would compare to more of a modern day past."

But what of caveman ghosts... Could they possibly exist?

"I’m sure they're out there. *laughs* That would be cool, you never know who’s coming through. I haven’t heard any grunting lately. The caveman ghost is Aaron's. *laughs* He’s our caveman investigator; he would be the best to communicate with them dudes."

With that it was time for some fan questions. We weeded out the three hundred or so asking if he was single, if he had a girlfriend, or would he be interested in ... well ... let's just leave that right there. You guys are wonderfully sick. We love you.

Q: Will there ever be a day when you retire from ghost hunting.

Zak: "There will never be a day that I retire from it because I don’t have to leave my house to hunt for ghosts anymore. The friggin' things live with me now. I built them a dungeon. They are in my house, ya know. It’s probably two or three nights a week that I’ll communicate with them there. Last we spoke was just a few weeks ago. I’m doing a new project now with spirit communication, and there’s some nasty ones here that said they wanted to kill me and shit. I think now they are starting to say, 'Hell, this guy’s crazier than we are; let’s just leave him alone.' *laughs* It’s weird in my house; I can feel them here and usually in a couple weeks they’re, like, gone. Yeah, I’ll never stop investigating. I love it."

Zak Bagans Talks Ghost Adventures - Part 3: What's Next and Fan Questions

Q: What's your all time favorite location that you’ve investigated?

Zak: "All time favorite location? I liked the underground vaults in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the Ancient Ram Inn in England. I just love the era of medieval Renaissance time periods. Going there for an investigation is like traveling back in time and hopefully communicating with the spirits. It was awesome. Guys like watching the movies Gladiator or Braveheart; for me it was going there and transporting back to that time. Like I said, just having all my senses be in that time. It was awesome. I loved it."

More questions are on the next page along with other interesting tidbits.

Q: If you had another career besides ghost hunting, what would it be? You were a DJ, right?

Zak: "I was a DJ once, but I hated it. I love music, but you know what? I would probably be a gold miner because I still believe that in a previous life, somehow, somewhere I was a reincarnated gold miner. I don’t know where, it’s just whenever I’m around that environment, I just feel things. That this is where I was or something, ya know? I love gold, for some weird reason I love digging in the ground and shit looking for treasure. So something like that. I could never be an office person or a 9-5 guy. I’ve always wanted a job that was adventurous."

Q: Have you ever used a Ouija board, and what’s your take on it?

Zak: "A Ouija board is no different than using a digital recorder to get EVPs. Any communication-based object, from digital recorders to Ouija boards to dowsing rods, they're all the same. You’re trying to communicate with spirits. I did that when I was younger and I remember we were at this girl’s house, this girl that I had a big crush on. A bunch of us were there. I was like fifteen or something. The girl I was crushing on said that her house was haunted. So like eight of us went downstairs with a Ouija board, and these two girls were on it that I had never met before. I started asking the Ouija board questions, and it answered my birth date - April 5th - right off the bat. That kind of freaked me out. Other stuff started happening, but like I said, it’s a tool to try to communicate with the dead. I think it is kind of weird how Hasbro or whoever the game company is sold those. That was like prompting our kids to communicate with spirits. To ghost hunt. There’s no difference."

Q: Have you ever had to leave a lock down because of the activity?

Zak: "No, the only lock down I left was the Winchester Mystery House. That’s when my grandmother died. That’s when I was using the Mel-Meter and it started going crazy. It was a bad feeling that I got at exactly 1:00 am. In the morning I found out that my grandmother died at 4:00 am in Michigan, which was 1:00 am there. That’s the only time we have really had to leave a lock down due to something bad. However, when we went back to Bobby Mackey’s, we wrapped up the investigation there rather quickly, too, after something happened. I basically had to get an exorcism performed on myself, and Aaron had some really bad shit happen to him there, too, that wasn’t really on camera. We had to end the investigation there."

Zak Bagans Talks Ghost Adventures - Part 3: What's Next and Fan Questions

Being a bit pressed for time, the interview then shifted to what's coming up for Zak in the near future. "In 1995-96 I was a huge fan of the band Lords of Acid. They had a lot of great songs and they were my entrance into electronic music, which is my passion outside of ghost hunting. I started following them on Twitter, started showing them some love and stuff like that and they reached back to me. The founder of Lords of Acid, his name is Praga Khan, he is a genius. A pioneer of the rave music scene that's credited for creating a good portion of that style of music. I’m a huge fan of his. They asked me to do vocals for a song on their new album, Deep Chills, called 'Paranormal Energy'. Praga coincidentally was having some type of paranormal experiences at his studio in Belgium which influenced him to do a song about this. So Praga talked with his agent, who’s based in LA here, who mentioned me and my support for Lords of Acid and that brought us together. They had me go to LA and record vocals with Chris Vrenna, who was with Nine Inch Nails for nine years and had just retired from Marilyn Manson after spending three years as keyboard player and drummer. The man is now a Grammy winning producer; it was an honor to go there and record this song".

"After that I had an idea, I was like, 'Wait a minute,'" says Bagans. "Music is the most powerful way for us to communicate. If you listen to the lyrics of any song, whether it be rap, rock, country, whatever, it is sending powerful messages that we as humans listen to with the utmost emotion. I then thought to myself that I have never heard spirit voices in music. That being said, recently I have been having some amazing results with spirit voices. Mark and Debbie Constantino, whom I met after they approached us with an EVP that said, 'Thank you, but we’ve done it', which was a Class A EVP that they captured with a Reno news crew pertaining to the flying brick incident that had happened to us at the Goldfield Hotel (Season 4, Episode 19). I started building up an EVP library. Honestly, I didn’t really start getting good EVPs until like Seasons 4, 5, and 6. Now the EVPs we are capturing are amazing. I have been traveling outside of 'Ghost Adventures', these voices are not from 'Ghost Adventures'. They’re voices I collected while conducting investigations on my own, some of which even come from my own house. Some specific spirit voices that have been recorded for my album are believed to be that of demons from Mackey's - a spirit named "Rhonda" who actually sang there, assorted spirits that have followed me home, and others that have committed suicide at a Las Vegas Motel. As a result of all these events and happenings coming together, we are doing a 13-track album, of which we have about 9 songs completed. Praga is in Belgium, and we have a guy named Wonkap who’s like a European Skrillex. We have been making some absolutely amazing music involving my vocals and spirit voices in electronic music. We do dubstep, we do electronic, trance, ambient, rock. I'm not here to pump my own shit. If something sucks, I say it sucks. But this is going to be truly amazing. It’s going to be released probably in May, and it’s a pretty cool project that I hope people will dig."

There you have it, folks. Surprising insight into the world of a man who walks with the dead. Big thanks to Jon Condit, who helped with the transcribing. For more info be sure to visit "Ghost Adventures" on Travel Channel. "Ghost Adventures" Season 6 premieres on March 9th, 2012.
