Mad Z Productions has announced that the world premiere of its horror survival thriller Killing Brooke will take place on Friday, April 6th, at 8:00 PM at the historic 800-seat Academy of Music Theatre, 274 Main Street, in Northampton, Massachusetts.

A Q&A with writer/director David Zagorski will immediately follow the film. Tickets are $10 with an additional $1.50 service fee if purchased online. If you plan to attend, be sure to RSVP on Facebook.

Synopsis:

Just because you don't believe in ghosts doesn't mean they don't believe in you!

Penny is a skeptic, despite the fact that she works as a tour guide at The Whaley House, considered America's most haunted house. One night her friends convince her to let them into the famous museum to see if it is as haunted as everyone says it is, and they find much more than they bargained for.

Writer/director Jose Prendes (Corpses Are Forever, A Magnificent Death from a Shattered Hand) is currently in pre-production on the film, a blood-soaked haunted house chiller like no other.

"It's been a while since I've been behind the camera, so I am excited for the chance to make a really kick-ass haunted house movie," says Prendes. "Like a lot of you, I appreciate a great ghost story, and I want to deliver the goods. I'm a huge fan of Poltergeist, which I consider to be the greatest haunted house movie ever. That movie manages to balance suspense and crazy balls-to-the-wall ghosts, and I want to follow that model. I see the film as Scream in a haunted house, only with the over-the-top grisly joy of Evil Dead. I want to deliver one hell of a movie night for horror fans the world over."

If only all of the living dead could look like the beautiful Audrey Hepburn, then maybe that unavoidable zombie apocalypse we have waiting for us wouldn't be so bad.

Unfortunately, that's not the case, but the makers of the upcoming film My Fair Zombie do know how to get the undead cleaned up nicely. Check out the teaser.

The film is currently in pre-production and we know little more than the director is Brett Kelly, but we've got to admit it's a fun concept, reminiscent of the Howard Sherman portrayed zombie, Bub, from Day of the Dead, whom humans futilely tried to train. We use the term "Master of Horror" often. Sometimes it applies, sometimes ... not so much. But there is no arguing that Stephen King is not only a Master of Horror, but perhaps THE Master of Horror. And we're lucky enough to have a video of him reading from his upcoming book, the sequel to The Shining, Dr. Sleep.

King was a guest of honor at the Savannah Book Festival Closing Ceremony this past Sunday, February 18th. He discussed his tremendous library of past works, the evolution of his new book 11/22/63 and, most exciting of all, he read an excerpt from Dr. Sleep, the upcoming sequel to his historic haunted hotel tale, The Shining.

Although most of the book follows a 40-year-old Danny Torrance, the section King reads in this video deals with the events immediately after the destruction of the Overlook Hotel.

In his never ending quest for Chinese food, Nomad stumbled upon some new promotional art for Tim Burton's Frankenweenie in front of a store in Jersey. Dig it!

The voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!), and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), along with Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer.

After watching a guy running around in a red, yellow, and blue uni-tard for the past several months can you really blame a girl for going out and finding someone who has super powers but is also a bit more macho?

According to Variety German actress Antje Traue who plays the nefarious Faora (pictured right) in director Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel has signed up for active duty on Legendary Pictures' The Seventh Son.

Formerly known as The Spook's Apprentice, the tale is adapted from Joseph Delaney's young adult series about a teen who's the seventh son of a seventh son, and learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook. Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander are set to star, with Sergey Bodrov helming.

Not to be confused with the Hammer film of the same name that's gearing up production, the indie flick The Quiet Ones is getting set to make its home video debut on May 8th from SaintSinner Entertainment.

Word has come that "Brothers & Sisters" star Dave Annable will be joining the previously announced Terry O'Quinn in ABC pilot "666 Park Avenue" from writer David Wilcox ("Fringe"), Warner Bros. TV, and Alloy Entertainment.

TVLine got the first word that Annable (pictured) will portray the husband half of a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. They unwittingly begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the residence. O'Quinn will play Gavin, the building’s owner.

Alex Graves ("The West Wing", "The Nine", "Terra Nova") is directing the pilot, and Wilcox is executive producing "666 Park Avenue" with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. The series is based on Alloy’s book series by Gabriella Pierce.

Two more flicks are on their way to home video as Hanover House announced today that both Patient Zero and Buried Alive will be released this summer! Details are kind of slim at the moment, but here's what we know...

Buried Alive, a micro-budget thriller from first-time director Kevin Clark, will debut on DVD and VOD in July; and Patient Zero, a zombie apocalyptic movie from director Brian T. Jaynes (Boggy Creek, Humans vs. Zombies) will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD this coming August.

According to Hanover House additional information on both films will be released in March, including title release details, creative specifics, ordering information and home video suggested retail pricing. Ever since word first broke about director Jose Padilha's remake of Paul Verhoeven's classic Robocop, rumors have been flying as to who would be playing the titular character, and now it looks like a firm offer is out. Read on to find out if you agree with the choice!

Deadline reports that MGM is making an offer to Joel Kinnaman ("The Killing", Safe House, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) for the lead role in the film, which Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing. Josh Zetumer wrote the script although it was reported at the beginning of the year that Gran Torino screenwriter Nick Schenk would be working on it as well.

With the studio hoping for a summer start, we expect a lot more announcements so keep it here!

In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

Finally, the press release we've been waiting months for has arrived: An actor has been chosen to play "The Governor" in AMC's "The Walking Dead", and while it's not someone instantly to familiar to us, considering how well casting for the show has gone thus far, we have faith he will fit the part just fine.

AMC announced today that David Morrissey has been cast in the role of The Governor in the network's critically acclaimed hit series "The Walking Dead." The Governor, a character from Robert Kirkman's graphic novel, is the leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors, and becomes the chief antagonist for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group.

The Governor will appear in "The Walking Dead" Season Three, a 16-episode order from AMC, which begins production this spring in Atlanta.

A BAFTA Award nominee, Morrissey has appeared in many acclaimed British series including "State of Play," "Meadowlands," "The Deal" and "Blackpool." Along with his celebrated work in television, Morrissey is also known for his leading roles in feature films such as The Reaping, The Other Boleyn Girl, Centurion, The Water Horse, Nowhere Boy and Blitz. He recently wrapped Welcome to the Punch opposite James McAvoy and Mark Strong.

Good news for fans looking forward to the startling new film from Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project) entitled Lovely Molly (review here)! Image Entertainment will be releasing the film sometime in May. Details to follow.

Written by Eduardo Sanchez and Jamie Nash, directed by Sanchez, and executive produced by Andy Jenkins and Robert Eick, Lovely Molly stars Gretchen Lodge, Alexandra Holden, and Johnny Lewis.

Synopsis
When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, frightful reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins an inexorable descent into an evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession.

It's been close to a year since we've had any sort of update on Federico Zampaglione's Tulpa, but today we have a few screenshots and more to share on the Italian Giallo homage, which begins a five-week shoot in Rome on March 5th.

First, however, on February 25th Zampaglione will screen the opening sequence of Tulpa in Glasgow at the Film4 Frightfest.

Tulpa is based on a treatment penned by Dardano Sacchetti (The Cat o' Nine Tails, A Bay of Blood, City of the Living Dead and many more masterpieces) and then developed by Federico Zampaglione with Giacomo Gensini.

The film, which promises a lot of extreme gruesome death scenes, is about Lisa Boeri (Claudia Gerini), a rich businesswoman totally devoted to her work. She is alone, without any serious relationship, and while during the day she is almost a cold money machine, at night she becomes another person. Every night Lisa goes in a exclusive club named Tulpa, owned by an enigmatic Tibetan guru (Nuot Arquint). In this club Lisa can free her fantasies and sexual perversions with unknown strangers, who suddenly start being murdered in very brutal ways. She can't go to the police because it could become a scandal for her public life and her career so she tries to uncover the mystery herself...

As Zampaglione explained previously, "'Tulpa' is a term which comes from Tibetan Buddhism. It’s a kind of projection of your metaphysical part, which, through meditation, can become real. But sometimes Tulpa goes the wrong way and turns into an evil presence... which then wants to kill its creator. It's mysterious and creepy stuff."

Tulpa is produced by IDF Italian Dream Factory, a society founded by actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta.

Even though the film doesn’t open for another month, The Hunger Games' first-day ticket sales on Wednesday, February 22, broke the previous first-day advance ticket-seller record set by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on Friday, May 14, 2010.

"The Hunger Games is off to a fantastic start," says Rick Butler, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fandango. "[On Wednesday] we saw the biggest first day advance ticket sales in our company’s nearly 12-year history – which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel."

Theater owners are continuing to add new showtimes while fans are scooping up advance tickets on Fandango.com.
