More new videos have arrived to give us a taste of what Syfy has in store for us when its new series "Helix" kicks off in early January. Access is granted to the Arctic, Meditation, and Final Interviews with the scientists at the Arctic Biosystems base.

The series comes to us from executive producer Ron Moore, creator of “Battlestar Galactica," and stars Billy Campbell, Kyra Zagorsky, Jordan Hayes, and Jeri Ryan. Also executive producing are Lynda Obst (Contact) and Steven Maeda ("Lost,""CSI: Miami,""The X-Files").

"Helix" premieres Friday, January 10, 2014, at 10/9c, only on Syfy.

The first bit of casting news for "True Blood" Season 7 has arrived, and while details are scarce, we expect to be hearing lots more about the show's final season in the new year so stay tuned!

Newcomer Brett Lorenzini (he has only one IMDb credit so far, for A Broken Code) has been cast in the part of Troy, a new character who will be seen in the premiere episode. The actor has been (re)tweeting about it, as you'll see below.

The ten-episode seventh season of "True Blood" will launch in summer 2014. The end of Season 6 jumped ahead six months, and Season 7 will serve as a bit of a reset for the series with the theme of "for every vampire, a human; for every human, a vampire."It once again examines the relationships between humans and vampires, and by putting all the characters essentially into one story, now it's Bon Temps vs. the world.

Yep, it's Christmas day, kids, and just as they do every so often, Studio ADI has released another behind-the-scenes look at one of the animatronic creatures we saw way too little of in The Thing prequel. It's like pissing in our holiday hot chocolate, I tell ya.

“Transforming the female character Juliette was an exciting and unique challenge for THE THING prequel,” they explain. “The plan was to 'thing out' Juliette from a human to a threatening, terrifying creature. Our approach was to design and build the final creature as an animatronic prosthetic that a performer would wear on set. See Juliette’s evolution from illustration to maquette to final sculpture.“

Here at Dread Central we're big fans of author Peter Clines, and the fourth installment in his Ex-Heroes series, Ex-Purgatory, is hitting bookstores on January 14th. Read on for the details.

In some of the most obvious news of the day, Hammer revealed that it isn't just thinking about one sequel to The Woman in Black (due in UK cinemas next year), they're talking about a prospective franchise.

In an interview with Total Film, Hammer CEO Simon Oakes had this to say:

"If your second's successful, then your third, then you've got a franchise," he says. "I just don't believe in the notion that you can press a button and create a franchise, but, I mean, I'm definitely planning 3 and 4…"

Of course, this isn't even the first time Hammer has floated the idea of multiple sequels to The Woman in Black. Back in July, Oakes referred to The Woman in Black as a potential brand and now he's reiterating that plan.

Synopsis
As bombs rain down on London during the Blitz of World War II, a group of school children are evacuated with Eve, their young and beautiful schoolteacher, to the safety of the English countryside. Taken to an old and empty estate, cut off by a causeway from the mainland, they are left at Eel Marsh House.

One by one the children begin acting strangely, and Eve, with the help of local military commander Harry, discovers that the group has awoken a dark force even more terrifying and evil than the city’s air raids. Eve must now confront her own demons to save the children and survive The Woman in Black.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson's next film Deliver Us From Evil has already been moved up in release from January 2015 to a summer 2014 slot. While we wait for warmer days, here are a few stills to tide us over.

Joel McHale, Sean Harris, Edgar Ramirez, and Olivia Munn star alongside Eric Bana. The film re-teams Clint Culpepper’s Sony-based company with The Exorcism of Emily Rose tandem of Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman. The film is a paranormal thriller that will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Derrickson will direct a script he and Boardman wrote.

In the flick Bana plays an Irish Catholic cop working a case when he meets a renegade priest (Ramirez). Despite the cop’s beliefs, he’s convinced by the priest that there is a demonic element, and together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them. Munn plays the cop’s wife, who also has a tie to the case.

Screen Gems is hoping this will blossom into a franchise.

In 2009 FearNet launched “Fear Clinic,” a horror series starring Robert Englund as Dr. Andover, a fear doctor who induces hallucinations in patients dealing with crippling phobias using his “Fear Chamber.” Now a feature version is on its way and we have your first look right here.

For the film Robert Englund will reprise his role as Dr. Andover, Fiona Dourif will play Sara Falls, a young woman who seeks the help of Dr. Andover after her phobias begin to reemerge. Thomas Dekker will play Blake Patton, a disabled man who survives a terrible tragedy and is subsequently brought to the clinic. Also cast is Cleopatra Coleman (Step Up: Revolution), who will play Sara’s best friend, Megan McAllister, who possesses a fear of spiders. Rounding out the cast will be Angelina Armani () and Kevin Gage (Heat).

Speaking of the film, Robert Hall said, “This is a whole different playing field. My new film has a much darker and surreal tone than the episodes, and I think fans will really appreciate the direction we’re going in.” Regarding the cast, he adds, “I’m terribly excited to get to collaborate with Fiona Dourif, who blows me away with her talent, and of course Thomas Dekker gets the best out of me when we’re on set and vice versa.”

The film opens with a tragedy that launches five people into the public eye. Dr. Andover is enlisted to lend his expertise to help them overcome trauma-induced phobias. A year later terrifying ‘aftershocks’ rattle the survivors, leading to them to find their way back to the fear clinic seeking answers. As they line up for another turn in the chamber, Dr. Andover believes that something more sinister may be at work.

Fear Clinic begins filming next month for a Halloween 2014 release.

The UK's "In the Flesh" zombie miniseries returns in 2014 with six more episodes, and this new promo for BBC America gives us our first taste of Series 2 along with the other great British shows and ground-breaking American originals that the network has coming up in the new year.

Dominic Mitchell’s "In the Flesh" was first developed by the BBC Drama Production team in Salford and writer Mitchell, who was discovered through "Northern Voices," a BBC Writersroom competition.

Series 2, which will air on BBC Three as well as the aforementioned BBC America, revisits the cauldron of Roarton, where the living and the undead have reached a fragile peace. After the shocking events of Series 1, Kieren (Luke Newberry) is hoping to get on with his second life, but the arrival of new and explosive characters throws those plans into disarray. Battle lines are drawn, and all will be judged.

Writer Dominic Mitchell said: “I am absolutely delighted and thrilled to be given this fantastic opportunity to continue exploring the characters and world of 'In the Flesh.'”

Yahoo! TV has nabbed the first two images from the upcoming adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's The Strain for FX. Check 'em out, and look for more on this one really soon!

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan (co-authors of the novel on which "The Strain" is based) co-wrote the pilot, which del Toro also directed. Carlton Cuse serves as showrunner and writer. Gary Ungar executive produces the FX Productions series.

The story centers on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Regina King play Ruby Wain, the smart and accomplished manager of philandering rock star Gabriel Bolivar (Jack Kesy), while Melanie Merkosky plays Jim Kent's (Sean Astin) wife, Sylvia, who is suffering from cancer.

"The Strain," aiming for a July 2014 debut for its 13-episode first season, also stars Mia Maestro, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez.

TAKING BACK POWER — As the French Quarter prepares for its annual celebration of the Casket Girls Festival, Cami (Leah Pipes) suffers through as Davina (Danielle Campbell) attempts to free her of Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) mind compulsion.

Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) form an unlikely alliance as Klaus sets his plan in motion to get Davina back. Once it’s known that Davina is missing, Sophie (Daniella Pineda) gets in on the hunt to track her down.

Meanwhile, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is forced to make a tough decision after receiving an unexpected phone call, and Rebekah (Claire Holt) sets her own plan in motion when she enlists the help of someone from Marcel’s past.
