Joining the already in the works big budget Dracula Year Zero from director Gary Shore and Vlad, written by "Sons of Anarchy"'s Charlie Hunnam, is yet another look at the famed fanged freak; and we've got your first details right here.

According to Deadline (appropriate, no?) Sony Pictures has acquired a pitch from scribe Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher) for a period origin story on the Dracula mythology that will be produced by Joe Roth and Palak Patel.

While details are scarce at the moment, we'll keep our noses to the grindstone and see if we can dig up anything else for you cats. Stay tuned!

Some projects take months, even years, to find their cast (we're looking at you, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) while others leave the gate like a speeding bullet. Such is the case with Snow Piercer as yet another actor has jumped on board.

According to Variety, Ewen Bremner (pictured right; Jack the Giant Killer) has joined the cast of the sci-fi thriller Snow Piercer, which already includes the previously announced Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Kang Ho Song, and Octavia Spencer.

Bong Joon-ho is helming from a script he penned with Park Chan-wook producing. Park is producing through Moho Films. Production is expected to start in March, though no distributor is yet in place.

The French graphic novel follows a group of people on a train without a final destination, struggling to survive after the end of the world brings on a cataclysmic ice age.

It's been a while since last we reported on Cockneys vs. Zombies, but finally a few images have made their way online which show off the tiniest bit of undead action along with a couple of close-ups.

The movie is written by James Moran (Severance) and details the story of a group of bank robbers who unlock a 350-year-old vault only to unleash an army of zombies.

Michelle Ryan (4.3.2.1.), Harry Treadaway (Control), Honor Blackman (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Jack Doolan (Cemetery Junction) all star in Matthias Hoene’s feature Cockneys vs. Zombies.

Synopsis
Cockneys vs Zombies is the story of Andy (Harry Treadaway) and Terry (Rasmus Hardiker): two hapless cockney brothers who try to save their grandad’s (Alan Ford) care home by robbing a bank. At the same time, a virus sweeps across East London turning all the inhabitants into flesh eating zombies. Faced with hordes of undead zombies, the challenge is to rescue a home full of tough old folks, escape with the loot, and get out of London alive!

Well, here's some news we can't say we weren't expecting given the degenerative state of quality storytelling on HBO's "True Blood". The driving force behind the show is ready to put down his pen.

According to Forbes online, writer Alan Ball is citing the following reasons for his exit...

"Explanations include exhaustion, and maybe that the show seemed like it had tired blood last season. Ball will still be with the show, I’m told, but a new regime will guide the fates of the characters into their new season."

I can think of a few more reasons: too many characters, too many storylines, ridiculous plot twists set up and never followed up on... the list goes on and on.

Hopefully this jarring situation will be exactly what is needed to get the show back on track. At least we hope so. It's a shame to think that with the fifth season just ahead the show's glory days are far behind. Stay tuned.

Q: You have a bit of a British accent! Was it difficult to learn the Southern drawl?

A: I spent one week just thinking about the difference between the British "O" and the Southern "O." You can get the vibe of it pretty easily, but then you have to really start thinking about the idiosyncrasies. Those scenes of high drama can become bigger than your accent sometimes, and there are moments when I find myself speaking in fear, talking more like I'm in London.

Q: Have you and Andrew Lincoln practiced becoming un-British together?

A: No, but our costume designer is South African. If we speak to her for more than two minutes, we have to hug her and walk away because all the Britishisms start to come up again.

Q: You and Steven Yeun have a lot of screen time together.

A: We are actually really good buddies. We all are. You just bond out there in a way that you wouldn't in a city. A bunch of us lived in the same building, this converted cotton mill -- it's cool, but also kind of creepy. A can of ravioli went missing from Steven's place, actually...

Q: Maggie and Glenn are sort of the link between Rick's people and Hershel's. Is that something you relate to in your life?

A: Oh, yeah. When I was a kid, I was the one causing the problems, and my little sister was the intermediary. But I think in life, generally, I don't want drama. I'd so much rather do something goofy. Maggie is like that: She has to act as the mediator. She really is trying to live her life out under a really strict father.

Q: Have you ever had to deal with strict parents like that?

A: Oh my god, exclusively! They were protective, but they're good now. To be honest, I'm glad, because it made me ambitious. My parents have always had pretty high expectations, but they're very supportive.

Q: Have you gotten inured to "The Walking Dead"'s horror now that you're around it all the time?

A: On set, it just makes you lose your appetite. When we have huge hordes of zombies on set, they'll have another room for them to eat, to accommodate them. But when there are only a few zombies on set, then we're all in the lunch room together. It's a bit disgusting. You don't believe they can make people look like that!

Q: Do you remember your first walker experience on set?

A: Yeah, my first day I dealt with a zombie. You look at these guys, in all that makeup, more than anything I feel bad for the zombies. We had one that was in a zombie fat suit in 100-degree humidity. That's the thing with this whole show -- you feel bad for them and you're terrified of them at the same time.

Due to petty superstitions St. Patrick's Day festivities were banned for the last 66 years, but now the new Mayor wants to tempt fate and celebrate.

A biography of legendary metal bassist/guitarist Dan Lilker will be released this summer via Paper + Plastick Records. The career-spanning book, entitled Perpetual Conversion: 30 Years & Counting in the Life of Metal Veteran Dan Lilker, is written by Dave Hofer. Liker was a founding member of Anthrax and S.O.D. and also plays in Nuclear Assault, Brutal Truth and more.

High On Fire will release De Vermis Mysteriis on April 3 via eOne Music. Described as "direct, eye-opening and powerfully supernatural," this will be stoner metal band's sixth album. The title translates to "Mysteries of the Worm" and is taken from a fictional grimoire created by author Robert Bloch (Psycho).

Melvins will release an EP entitled The Bulls & The Bees on March 13. The five-song effort will be released for free on Scion A/V's website. Frontman Buzz Osborne describes it as "amazing in its noisy calm intensity."

Synopsis:

What exactly is the “Nemesis”? The “Nemesis” is a creature from an alien world which has been sent to earth to stop the spread of the alien virus called Ombis. The creature has no regard for the human race and has been sent to contain the spread of the “destroyer of worlds” which is Ombis. The alien life form stands at almost seven feet and towers over normal humans.

Sara Manzella, who plays one of the leads of the film, had this to say, “My role in Ombis is Lucy, a high school girl just trying to make it with an unstable family situation. Her personality is whiny, but her heart is in the right place when horror strikes her home town. The role my character plays in the film Ombis is the 'screamer', a shy girl-next-door who keeps her high school boy friend in check throughout the film.” Below is the first still of Manzella and Jason John Beebe from the film.

At the end of May 2012 DefTone Pictures Studios will be releasing a three-minute finished scene of the film. Director Adam R. Steigert stated, “I can’t say at this time what the scene will have in it; many of our digital effects shots are currently being edited so it might be one of those. A lot of people have been asking about the Ombis slime mutants, if we could show a clip of them attacking people. Sadly, no scenes of the creatures attacking people will be finished filming until April, which would give the editors not a lot time to edit and give their best work, so that will have to wait till October 2013, but I will promise the fans wouldn’t be unpleased with the choice we do pick.”

Ombis is based on a short story by Adam R. Steigert and was written by Steigert, Janeen Avery, Mark Mendola, and Terry Kimmel. The cast features Richard Satterwhite (Sheriff Thomas Brackett), Sara Manzella (Lucy), Jason John Beebe (Mark), and Alexander Sloan McBryde (Mr. Gray).

Synopsis:
Ombis is a 1950’s style alien invasion film in which a life form crash lands in Metzburgh, a village whose glory days are long past. It begins to infect the townsfolk, making them host to a supernatural virus whose sole purpose is to replicate itself. But the virus is not the only thing that has invaded this small community. A creature known as the “Nemesis” has also arrived in an attempt to contain the alien plague that originated from its home planet. It is up to a small group of uninfected survivors to fight the invasion and make it out alive.

"I'm The Thing, Baby!" Glorious!

Indie filmmaker Sonny Fernandez is at it again and promises his latest project, The Complex, is unlike anything you've ever seen, a mind-bending journey to places you may never come back from! Read on for the details.

The Complex, the latest film from Sonny Fernandez and Down Twisted Studios, stars Cody Tergesen, Sam Ova, Justin Kavlie, and Kim Haarman. It's a sci-fi/horror extravaganza as only the folks who brought you the indie classics The New Girls and The Last Battleground can do it.

The film follows a mysterious man, his face wrapped in bandages with no memory of his past, as he wakes up in a hallway. The only clue to his identity is a number tattooed on his wrist: 109. He is now a prisoner in an endless building with no windows and no clocks, a place where escape seems impossible. He's not alone, however; there are others, and all of them are just like him - nameless and with no memories of their previous lives. They have accepted their fate and live in constant fear of The Keeper, a nightmarish guard who keeps them in their place. But 109 is not like the others... He is determined to escape, even if he has to destroy everything in his path to do it.

We never know what's going to land in our inbox here at DC. Case in point: info on Cannibal Diner from German director Frank W. Montag, which is currently in the editing stage. Check out the film's trailer, poster, and a few stills.

Mario von Czapiewski, the writer and co-producer (with Montag) of Cannibal Diner tell us that the film will hit German cinemas soon and then get a big international release in the end of 2012/beginning of 2013.

Cannibal Diner stars Alexandra Lesch, Kristiana Rohder (Miss Universe Germany 2010), Lara Baum, Alexandra Jordan, Violetta Schurawlow, Indira Madison, Dominik Schneider, Jessica Klauss, Mike Zick, Celina Klemenz, and Heiko Rohde. American shock-rocker Demon Boy's "Little Red Riding Bitch" will be featured on the movie's soundtrack.

Synopsis:
Kati (Lesch) is a young model on her way to a birthday party for her little sister, Celine (Baum). Tanja (Rohder), Kati's best friend, and some of the others want to celebrate and camp near the woods. While preparing the party, the girls get attacked by strangers. Kati, still on her way to the camping place, loses her way in the woods and is led onto the wrong track by a vagabond (Klauss). When her car is stolen afterwards, Kati finds herself lost in the deep forest and arrives at an old factory, where a clan of cannibals is already preparing their feast... main course: Kati's friends.

TV spot number two is here for The Raven, and it does a lot to excite in about 30 seconds. Let's hope the movie itself is just as good.

The Raven begins with Poe arriving in Baltimore as a serial killer is terrorizing the city, using the writer’s stories as the inspiration for his crimes. Poe is a suspect at first, but he eventually joins forces with a police inspector to solve the crimes and save the woman he loves.

Synopsis
In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

Chilling. That's a word that is easily used to describe actor Giancarlo Esposito's portrayal of the nefarious to the very end Gus on TV's "Breaking Bad". His latest gig on "Once Upon a Time"... not so much. Hopefully the actor can bring back his unique sense of menace for NBC!

According to Variety, Esposito (pictured right) has been cast in the upcoming NBC pilot "Revolution," from J.J. Abrams and "Supernatural"'s Eric Kripke. He will play a Southern lieutenant with an air of mystery in the drama.

John Favreau will direct the pilot episode of the new series, which follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.

Abrams, Kripke and Bryan Burk are executive producing. This marks the first drama pilot directing gig for Favreau, who has helmed a few comedy pilots in the past, including that for the ABC series "In Case of Emergency" starring David Arquette. In addition to "Revolution", Favreau has "Tweaked", a comedy pilot at CBS. The project, which Favreau wrote on spec and is attached to direct, was greenlit in October but has not been cast yet and may shoot outside of the regular pilot season.

The Whaley House is proud to officially announce the casting of cult icon Lynn Lowry! Lynn has been a fixture in horror films since she first appeared as a blood-crazed hippie in I Drink Your Blood and has gone on to work with George Romero in the original The Crazies and David Cronenberg in Shivers! Now the lovely and talented Lynn adds our humble little film to her oeuvre, and we couldn’t be happier!

“I’ve been a big fan of Lynn’s since I first saw her in The Crazies,” says writer/director Jose Prendes. “There is this ethereal beauty to her that makes her completely magnetic and you can’t help but keep your eyes firmly glued to her whenever she’s on screen. Signing Lynn on to the picture has completed a lifelong dream of mine to not only meet this iconic actress, but work with her as well. And the fact that she’s doing it because she loved the script and wanted to work with someone who admires her films means more to me than she could ever imagine.”

Also the film’s composer has been locked in, and the sinister score will be provided by newcomer Graham Denman, who is looking to put a unique spin on things musically.

“Jose has been a close friend of mine for many years, and I couldn’t be more excited to have such a big opportunity working on this film with him. With this score, I plan on delivering something in the vein of John Carpenter’s early stuff and especially Johnny Greenwood’s score for There Will Be Blood,” say Denman. “I like using random noises that most people overlook and stretching them out, playing with them, putting them in the background like this ominous thing buried beneath the music. I want this to be a one of a kind score. I really hope you all dig it.”
