It was way back in 2008 that DreamWorks acquired the rights to Ghost in the Shell, intent on producing a live-action feature film adaptation of the popular manga series. Six years later, a director has finally come on board. Read on for details!

As per Deadline, Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders will helm the adaptation for DreamWorks, which was scripted by William Wheeler.

Created by Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell was first published in 1989 by Kodansha, one of the largest publishing companies in Japan. The story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Steven Paul.

Fresh off of multiple festival wins, Children of Sorrow was scooped up by After Dark Films last year, and Lionsgate will be bringing the tale of a creepy cult home this coming March. Today, the trailer gives us our first look inside the cult. Dig it!

Now, of course you have the standard fare, the all-star psycho nurses like Annie Wilkes in Misery, Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, everyone's favorite nurse to hang around with in Halloween II, and that beastly bunch of corpse-like caregivers from Silent Hill. But we thought we'd go a bit off the beaten path on this one.

First, some honorable mentions. We're going to categorize these nurses as NILFs, but we've got two different types of NILFs. We've got the traditional "Nurses I'd Like to... Fornicate" (with, haha!) and "Nurses I'd Like to Forget" for the really disturbing ones.

Who could forget that Victor Crowley's mother was actually the nurse to Thomas Crowley's ailing wife, Shyann, and after realizing that Thomas had an affair with her, Shyann slapped one doozey of a curse on her. This nurse seems up for the horizontal mambo so she qualifies as the good fornicating kind of NILF.

Metal goddess Mary "Nurse Hatchet" Madcox a/k/a Mixtress Demonatrix, who collaborates musically with Wild Bill Johnson (a/k/a Leatherface in TCM2), is another one that qualifies as the good kind of NILF indeed! Check her out, wow!

And although both of these ladies were technically closer to doctors than nurses, Mary Mason of American Mary looks great in scrubs, and Harley Quinn is quite the hottie in her nurse outfit in the Arkham video game series. All very, very intriguing NILFs!

Fornicating with them or forgetting them, it's time to...

Elle Driver in Kill Bill: Vol. 1
If you want to talk about sexy nurses, and I mean real NILFs, look no further than Elle Driver. Of course we mean the drop dead sexy hitwoman played by Darryl Hannah in Kill Bill: Vol. 1. Elle was a real hottie, but when The Bride finally got around to dealing with her, she didn't stand up too well. Driver (code name: California Mountain Snake) was a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and not really a nurse, but she wore the uniform so well. She had The Bride right where she wanted her and simply had to push the plunger of that syringe to finish her off. Oh well. What we can say is Elle Driver is by far the hottest character ever to appear on screen with an eye-patch…and the thigh-highs don't hurt her look either! Va-va-va-voom!

Laura in "Holliston"
Laura isn't that broken, but she's seriously twisted. Seriously. There was a sequence in the extremely popular FEARnet show "Holliston" that featured a very sexy nurse. Laura (played by Laura Ortiz) is the cute, dark and quirky girlfriend of Joe Lynch on "Holliston," and the show's brilliant creator/writer/director Adam Green figured out a way to get Laura into an insanely sexy nurse's outfit. As you can see by the photo below, there might not be a hotter nurse on this list than the lovely Laura. We've included a "Holliston" promo video with a scantily clad Laura with Green as well. "Holliston"... it just gives and gives and gives.

The Joker in The Dark Knight
In certainly one of the most horrific scenes in The Dark Knight, the Joker makes an appearance in the hospital to visit a newly scarred Harvey Dent, bringing about the maniacal Two-Face. To gain access to the hospital unseen, The Joker dons a nurse's uniform. Apparently the green hair and pale white face won't set off anyone's radar as long as you're wearing the proper scrubs. In Heath Ledger's iconic performance as The Joker, one of the most memorable scenes is indeed this one where he appears as the nurse. "I'm an agent of chaos. And you know the thing about chaos…it's fair." We're going to leave this one up to the ladies: Which kind of NILF is Heath Ledger's Joker?

Freddy Krueger A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
As we all know, Freddy Krueger can be anyone and anything he wants in the dreams of his victims. If this is true, you'd figure he might want to conjure himself up a better complexion, but that normally isn't addressed. What is, however, is the fact that ol' Freddy can turn himself into one damn sexy nurse. Check out the scene below. This one is the alternate cut as Freddy was actually nude for the scene that made the film. This was from Dream Warriors.

In The Dream Master Freddy shows up again as a caregiver, but not quite as hot this time. As you can see by the pic, it's simply Robert Englund in drag. So we'll call the nurse from Dream Warriors a really, really good NILF and the nurse from Dream Master a really, really bad one. Forget him, forget him, forget him…

Zombie Nurse-Dawn of the Dead
What a fantastic zombie she was! The Nurse Zombie from Dawn of the Dead, portrayed by Sharon Ceccatti-Hill, was so perfect with her robotic, nearly Thriller-esque walk and unmistakable squeaky clean white scrubs, she was immediately apparent in every scene she shuffled into. It would be hard to consider her an F'able nurse, though, as the looming fact that she's much more interested in eating your flesh than jumping your bones would put a damper on the whole experience. And the necrophilia factor has to be considered as well…but still, you've gotta love her. She shows up in the video below at about the 7:00 mark, rated the Number 2 zombie in Dawn of the Dead, just after the Hari Krishna Zombie and behind only Stephen. Respect!

Nurse 3D Synopsis
Paz de la Huerta (HBO's "Boardwalk Empire") turns up the body heat in this wickedly entertaining story of a fatal attraction. By day, nurse Abby Russell (de la Huerta) lovingly attends to the patients at All Saints Memorial Hospital; by night, Abby prowls nightclubs, luring unfaithful men into dangerous liaisons. After Danni (Katrina Bowden), a young, sensitive nurse, joins the hospital staff, Abby pursues her friendship. But when the friendship turns to obsession, Danni spurns Abby, unleashing Abby's fury and a rampage of terror.

While it's our general policy to not report on Kickstarter projects for various reasons, Kiss the Devil in the Dark, the new and wrapped feature from the creators of the award-winning short An Evening with My Comatose Mother, is just simply too good to pass up.

The flick's in post, needs your help, and we think it's something you absolutely need to see.

Starring Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth), Dameon Clarke, and Amrita Acharia, Kiss the Devil in the Dark is co-directed and produced by Jonathan Martin and Rebecca Martin from a script by the latter and revolves around the character of Marcus (Clarke), a powerful sorcerer who, desperate to save his dying wife, makes a deal with the demon Dagon (Jones) to save her soul. Dagon, however, has more in mind for Marcus than just a simple exchanging of souls. With seemingly no other choice, Marcus accepts, thus catapulting him into a series of events that will reveal to all involved the very meaning of betrayal.

Chatting with Jonathan Martin, the co-director stated of working with Jones, "He was the very epitome of class. He was off book, precise, and beyond enjoyable. We put him through the grinder, and he came out fresh as daisies. Truth; not only is Doug consistent in his performance from take to take, he also gives you enough differences and varieties within the consistency of his performance to allow you as a filmmaker to enrich the film, no matter which take you choose. Any opportunity I can get to work with Doug, I will seek out and take."

Of the elaborate world in which Kiss the Devil in the Dark takes place, Martin stated, "It's a fresh take on dark fantasy. While it's based in a 19th century setting, it's envisioned as a different world with unique geography and history. It's a world of magic and myth. While this film is only a small sample of what we have envisioned, we know that there are many more possibilities for it. We definitely envision this being explored further as either a film or television series moving forward, and it works as an elaborate proof of concept so to speak. Amazing to me is that it spawned out of the mind of a 17-year-old girl, my sister, who was empowered to see this world begin to come to life."

Chris Hanson handles the creature design and effects, and they are (in this writer's opinion) breathtaking. North America prepares to catch the virus on DVD and VOD March 4th, 2014

Synopsis
“Zombies. Killer Robots. Nice town you got here.”

When a deadly virus is accidentally released into a major city, its population is quarantined by military blockade. Matt Doran (The Matrix), David Field (Chopper), and Esteban Cueto (Fast Five, Iron Man 2, The Scorpion King) co-star in this intense action shocker. Battle of the Damned is a terrifying look into the future. Set against a ravaged landscape, it is a battle against flesh and steel – a battle between outlaw and outbreak!

Battle of the Damned is written and directed by Christopher Hatton and produced by Ehud Bleiberg, Leon Tong, and Hatton.

We told you about the live action adaptation of the manga series The Black Butler back in 2013 of last year. Today we have the artwork, a pair of stills and even a trailer for you to check out. Dig it!

The manga, created by Toboso Yana, is set in Victorian era Europe and follows Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler who is bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, the thirteen-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family and the business-savvy owner of the Funtom company, a toy manufacturer. In return, when Sebastian has helped Ciel finish all of his tasks, including avenging his parents' deaths, Sebastian will be allowed to consume his soul.

The film opened in Japan on January 18, 2014.

Rodney Asher is the guy behind one of the most intriguing film documentaries in years, Room 237, which is all about the clues and conspiracies behind Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Shining.

Ascher is coming back to intrigue and spook us with another doc, this one on the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. It’s called The Nightmare, and from the look of it, it’s bound to cause quite a few!

Dread Central: I saw Room 237 at LAFF the year before last, and I thought it was really well-crafted and quite labyrinthine… will The Nightmare have the same vibe?

Rodney Ascher: I think so, at least about the attitude, seeing as how I'm still in a similar headspace in a lot of ways, and this mystery is in some ways bigger and more complicated than a single film, even one as formidable as The Shining. The big difference will be the amount of original imagery we'll be creating for this one.

DC: There’s a scene in The Shining in which Danny is having a bad dream, foaming at the mouth and almost in a state of sleep paralysis – is that what sparked the idea for The Nightmare?

RA: That's interesting, really interesting - but (probably) just a coincidence; in fact I hadn't made the connection until you mentioned it. Of course eerie coincidences, synchronicities, and the challenges of nailing down cause and effect were a big part of 237 and will probably find their way into The Nightmare. Certainly they found their way into my own life and experience during the making of Room 237 and beyond (to pick one at random - it sure was strange that billboards with the number 42 appeared everywhere just when 237 was released).

DC: Tell our readers a little bit about what intrigues you about this weird phenomenon enough to want to actually make a film about it… I mean, filmmaking ain’t easy, so you really have to be inspired, especially with documentaries, which aren’t exactly known for the cha-ching! factor.

RA: It's a time and place where the rules of reality seem to break down - one thing in particular that seems nuts to me is that although a ton of people seem to experience it (and I can't hardly bring the idea up in a group without one person saying it happened to them), I hardly ever seem to read or hear much about it unless I'm going out of my way to research it. Apparently in some other cultures it gets talked about a lot more, but I'd think a halfway common experience that seems absolutely supernatural would come up a little more often.

DC: What’s your take on sleep paralysis? Have you ever experienced it, and do you think the terror of it is overrated? (I mean, everyone does wake up eventually… right??? :)

RA: It hasn't happened to me lately, but the first time was genuinely the most horrifying thing that ever happened to me - a visit from this shadowy ghost creature while I was caught in the equivalent of a glue trap, unable to scream. Even if that was all, I wouldn't call it overrated, but in fact it is suspected to have been related to some people's death in their sleep.

DC: Yipes! I guess dead men tell no sleep paralysis tales. What’s one tidbit you can share about the doc to entice horror fans to go see it?

RA: Of course the film is very much in progress, but one thing they might find interesting is the suggestion that sleep paralysis has been the inspiration for countless horror classics from Dracula to A Nightmare on Elm Street, alien abductions and beyond. In fact here's a passage from Dracula that Ryan Hurd (a guy who's experienced and written a lot about SP pointed out): "I felt the same vague terror which had come to me before and the same sense of some presence ... I would have screamed out, only that I was paralyzed."
