The immediate reaction we horror fans have to any faux teaser trailer we dig is that we want to see it become reality, is it not? Following in the footsteps of Machete Kills and Clown, REC co-director Paco Plaza is making such a desire come true. Read on!

A few years back, Plaza directed a 50-second faux teaser for a vampire film called Damned Friday (Maldito Viernes), which spawned a comic book and had many fans begging for a feature.

As reported by Variety, Plaza will indeed be directing a feature-length expansion on the teaser, which begins filming this coming July over in Spain.

REC 3's Leticia Dolera will star as a young woman who struggles with her family and boyfriend before becoming a vampire.

The Spanish-language film is set to be shot in color, with Adrian Guerra attached as producer.

"I’ve shot a werewolf movie, a bunch of zombie films, but as a horror film fan, I felt I really wanted to shoot a vampire film," says Plaza. “There’s only one thing I can say for sure: There will be blood.”

Back in August we got the word that Amazon Studios was proceeding with a pilot for "The After" from "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter, and now it's ready for you to watch and vote on along with a few others.

Body horror? Did somebody say body horror? Because we love body horror here on Dread Central. Read on for details about an upcoming flick called Replace, which sounds like a fleshy delight!

THR reports that the green light has been given to the thriller, which will be the debut horror feature of German filmmaker Norbert Keil. Keil co-wrote with Richard Stanel.

Replace centers on a young woman with a strange skin disease, who is forced to make a choice when she discovers she can replace her own skin with another woman's and maintain her beauty.

Canadian producers Ultra 8 Pictures, A71 Productions, and 108 Media are pacting with German partner Sparkling Pictures on the film, which will start production later this year in Canada.

Felix von Poser, David Miller, Geddes, Katrina Gligorijevic will produce the genre picture.

Though we still know very little about Jurassic World, the long-awaited next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, director Colin Trevorrow just tweeted out a tasty little tidbit that we think you're going to like. Read on!

In a tweet posted from Trevorrow's account earlier today, Trevorrow stated that Jurassic World will be shot on film, rather than digital, and both 35mm and even 65mm stock will be used to bring the dinosaurs to life.

He also says that John Schwartzman (The Amazing Spider-Man, Armageddon) will be the cinematographer on the film.

Good news? You bet your sweet dinosaur-loving ass!!

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, and Nick Robinson are in various stages of talks to star. Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) penned the script with Derek Connolly and will direct the film. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it is known that Robinson would play Simpkins’ older brother.

Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Pat Crowley will produce Jurassic World, which is set to begin filming in early 2014. The dinosaurs will hit theaters June 12, 2015.

More news is coming out of the European Film Market as I Know What You Did Last Summer director Jim Gillespie will be shopping his latest project, Take Down, with one of the stars of "The Originals," Phoebe Tonkin, in talks to appear in the film.

Potentially joining Tonkin are Jeremy Sumpter (Soul Surfer, Frailty, Excision, "Friday Night Lights") and Sebastian Koch (A Good Day to Die Hard, The Lives of Others).

The young adult thriller is based on a script by Alexander Ignon (Ransom).

Slated for an April 2014 start date, the film’s producing team is headed up by Ed Elbert, Sarah Ryan Black, and Stefan Brunner. Take Down is being packaged and produced by Pinewood Pictures, the offshoot of UK studio group Pinewood Shepperton Plc., whose Steve Christian will executive produce. Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling foreign sales on the project.

Director Jim Gillespie added: "The qualities every director searches for in their actors are talent, charisma, and commitment. I've been lucky enough to find all three in Jeremy and Phoebe. Mark my words; these are the stars of tomorrow."

Synopsis
Showcasing a young and sexy ensemble cast, Take Down follows the spoiled offspring of international billionaires, sent to a tough-love school in the remote wilderness by their parents in the hope of shaping them up. When they are taken hostage and held for a billion dollar ransom by a group of clever and well-armed kidnappers, the kids are forced to try to save themselves.

Remember back in November when the surprising rumor was circulating that Seth Rogen was somehow going to be involved in a "Preacher" TV series for AMC? Well, it was true, and more details have arrived.

Here's the lowdown from Indiewire:

AMC is developing a drama based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic book Preacher, the network has announced. News of these plans first broke in November, but today AMC and Sony Pictures Television officially confirmed that the project is in the works.

It will be executive produced and written by the (This Is the End) team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. "Breaking Bad" writer and producer Sam Catlin will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Preacher was published by DC's Vertigo imprint and ran from 1995–2000. Here's AMC's summary:

"Preacher" follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith [and] has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey [are] his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

"This is amazing!"said Rogen and Goldberg. "We've tried for seven years to work on 'Preacher,' and we're so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we're going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!"

Surviving in the ruins of Nether is no easy task, and now players have new choices thanks to a feature update for the first-person urban survival game that includes crafting and a creature mode. Check out the new trailer!

The long awaited and highly requested crafting feature is now live, and a soon to be available creature mode that lets players wreak havoc as a nether will be available later this month.

Nether is also adding a tribe system, featuring tribe bases, a tribe skill tree, and tribe objectives, that will go into the game at the end of February. In the meantime players can sign up for a tribe to earn special in-game items, and new players can join in the process by purchasing Nether via Steam or at PlayNether.com for 25 percent off until February 7.

Since launching early access, Nether has used player input when selecting features for updates, and to continue the tradition, fans can submit choices to determine the tribe names. The top names will then enter a community vote. All those who join a tribe from now until February 15 will earn in-game cash, loot, and a free tribe uniform.

“The main focus of any survival game is to see how long someone can last before biting the dust, but what makes for a rich playing experience are added elements that challenge players on another level,” said Chip Sineni, Creative Director at Phosphor Games. “With creature mode and crafting, we are giving players these added components that not only make surviving more exciting but also give fans new ways to explore the city.”

New Features Include:

- Crafting/Trading – No weapons, no problem. Players can now scavenge the city ruins and create their own arms for dispatching nethers or trade them in Safe Zones for needed supplies
- New In-Game Items – Including a motorcycle biker suit and other tools for survival

Synopsis:
Nether is a first-person urban survival gaming experience unlike any other. Nether forces players to make quick life-saving decisions in an unforgiving environment. In this post-apocalyptic urban world, death is waiting around every corner, at the top of high-rise buildings, and in the grasp of powerful teleporting creatures known as nethers.

Well, no, not really, but that would make for a pretty interesting story too, no? In any event what we're talking about here is a new adaptation that's on its way for Scott Chitwood’s comic Haunted.

Haunted is a four-part horror action-adventure written by Scott Chitwood (Drone, Dead or Alive), illustrated by newcomer Danny Luckert, and colored by Ivan Plascencia. It is also featured in Red 5’s 2014 Free Comic Book Day issue. Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions is to produce the adaptation.

Per THR, newcomer Grace Victoria Cox has been tapped for a recurring role on the CBS series, marking her first screen credit.

The 18-year-old Cox will appear as the lithe, mysterious, beautiful, and almost regal Melanie, who catches the eye of Joe (Colin Ford). Poised and ethereal, Melanie is from the "right" side of the tracks and is a clear contrast to Norrie (Mackenzie Lintz).

Cox's hiring comes on the heels of Eddie Cahill and Karla Crome being added to the cast earlier this week.

As we've reported previously, "Under the Dome" is poised to kill off two "favorites" when it returns with its Stephen King-penned Season 2 premiere on June 30th.

Back in 2010 Marilyn Manson's idea for a movie called Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll seemed to have been in place and moving along quite nicely. We even had a good cast consisting of Manson himself, Lily Cole, Tilda Swinton, and Evan Rachel Wood.

Unfortunately things hit a wall and production shut down.

"The trailer caused such a backlash that a decision was made to close down the project. It’s unlikely it will ever see the light of day," claimed a source close to the studio that was backing the film. You can see that trailer below.

El Rey Network has revealed another image from the set of "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series," and this time it's a first look at the legendary Don Johnson as Sheriff Earl McGraw, a lawman who is obsessed with catching the Gecko brothers after their bank heist leaves several dead.

"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" premieres on Tuesday, March 11th, at 9pm ET/PT.

The 10-episode series is produced in association with FactoryMade Ventures and created and executive produced by network founder and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

It centers around bank robber Seth Gecko (D.J. Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Zane Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia) after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former minister Jacob Fuller (Robert Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the Border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive.

Few films tickle our fancy more around these parts than C.H.U.D. There's never a wrong time to watch it, reference it, or wonder what the hell was up with its sequel. The flick just doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

In this day and age anyone can make a zombie movie. The trouble is not everyone can make a good zombie movie. Indie filmmaker Christian Ackerman is readying his next stab at the zombie comedy subgenre with his new flick Zombies of the Living Dead.

We'll say this about what we've seen thus far... what this flick lacks in budget it makes up for in enthusiasm. Check it out!

Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, has acquired North American rights to original horror film A Field in England, the fourth feature film from writer/director Ben Wheatley. The film stars Reece Shearsmith ("The League of Gentlemen") and Kill List's Michael Smiley and features Julian Barrett ("The Mighty Boosh") in a small role.

Billed as "a psychedelic trip into magic and madness," A Field in England follows a group of English Civil War soldiers in the 17th century who are captured by an alchemist and led into a vast mushroom field, where they fall victim to violent and nightmarish forces.

The good folks over at XLrator Media have provided Dread Central with an exclusive first clip from the latest film from The Butcher Brothers, entitled Holy Ghost People (review). If you have a fear of snakes, which we're sure some of you do (we're looking at YOU, Mr. Jones), you may wanna skip it. If you're brave, check it out right now!

The film is directed by Mitchell Altieri – one half of the Butcher Brothers (The Hamiltons, The Thompsons) – and written by Kevin Artigue & Joe Egender, Altieri, and Phil Flores (the other half of the Butcher Brothers).

The 2014 European Film Market only just kicked off, but as far as we're concerned, the best news of the year so far has come today as Bill Paxton is returning to the director's chair... for an adaptation of a Joe Lansdale novel no less!

Per Deadline, Paradise City, the production label of Paris-based Memento Films International, has tapped Paxton to direct an adaptation of Joe Lansdale’s novel The Bottoms based on a script by Brent Hanley, who wrote Paxton’s excellent 2001 directing effort Frailty.

“I have been a big fan of Joe Lansdale’s writing since the Hap and Leonard novels,” Paxton says. “His stories and characters are vivid, original, and indelible. The screenwriter Brent Hanley and I have been looking to team up again since Frailty, and when we read Joe’s book The Bottoms, we knew we had hit pay dirt. With a story and script this good, we have a chance to make a bonafide classic. I couldn’t be more excited!”

Paradise City recently co-financed and co-produced Jim Mickle’s Sundance film Cold in July, which was also based on a book by Lansdale. “We’ve been obsessed with The Bottoms since we first read it,” says Paradise City’s Nicholas Shumaker. “We are huge fans of Frailty so we were beyond thrilled to find out that Paxton has wanted this to be his next directorial project for some time. We’re excited to work with him and to continue to do our part to bring the works of Joe Lansdale to screens around the world following the success of Cold in July.”

Emilie Georges, Nicholas Kaiser, Naima Abed, and Shumaker will produce for Paradise City. Brad Wyman is an executive producer. WME will package and represent North American rights.

Synopsis
