A remake of Alfred Hitchcock's tale of avian terror has been rumored and talked about since way back in 2007, but it's been quite some time since we've heard anything about it. Now it looks like The Birds reboot is back on track. Read on for details!

Variety reports that Platinum Dunes and Mandalay Pictures have tapped Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen (Taped) to direct a modern day version of The Birds, replacing previously attached directors Martin Campbell and Dennis Iliadis.

The original plotline followed a San Francisco socialite who moves to a small northern California town that is suddenly under attack from various types of birds. Plot details for the remake are unknown at this time.

Michael Bay will produce along with his Platinum Dunes producing partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller with Peter Guber and David Zelon also producing through Mandalay Pictures.

Universal Pictures executive vice president of production Scott Bernstein will oversee the project for the studio.

We haven't heard much about Adam R. Steigert's horror comedy A Grim Becoming since its trailer was released in November of last year, but a new still has arrived along with an update.

Director Steigert tells us, "The still is an exclusive first look at actor Britt Griffith [Wayne] in full wardrobe as a Grim Reaper. Wayne is speaking with Death, aka Magoo [Michael Sciabarrasi], in a scene which features plenty of bloody carnage in a larger-than-life situation."

DefTone Pictures Studios Inc.’s horror comedy A Grim Becoming is in the final stages of editing. The film stars Buffalo, New York, natives Brandon Williams, Melyssa Jade, and Michael Sciabarrasi along with Syfy’s "Ghost Hunters" star Britt Griffith. Indie horror icons Devanny Pinn, Bill Oberst, Jr., Jessica Cameron, Melantha Blackthorne, and Lynn Lowry also play key roles.

Synopsis:
A Grim Becoming follows Raphael (Williams) , a young, bitter executive who is on the verge of losing a multimillion dollar architectural deal with a large company led by the awkward Stanford brothers. A sudden death in his family has Raphael leaving to go to his home town of Metzburgh to attend the funeral. Seeing this as his big chance to get ahead is Wayne, a jealous co-worker, who is in competition with Raphael. As Raphael returns to Metzburgh, he experiences a life changing event: witnessing a Grim Reaper taking a soul. This sighting results in Raphael becoming a Reaper and having to explore his own conscience and the lengths he will go to get his life back. But Death, who goes by the more human name of Magoo (Sciabarrasi), has other plans for the naive young executive.

There's one thing that we can guarantee about actor Vincent D'Onofrio... which is that the dude can do dark and crazy with the best of them. We're hoping dark and crazy will just be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jurassic World!

Deadline reports that D’Onofrio (pictured) and Indian actor Irrfan Khan will star in Universal’s franchise reboot Jurassic World. D’Onofrio will play the bad guy in the film that Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt are also attached to star in.

Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) penned the script with Derek Connolly and will direct the film.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but expect lots more soon.

Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Pat Crowley will produce Jurassic World, which is set to begin filming in early 2014. The dinosaurs will hit theaters June 12, 2015.

Well, not me personally. That would be kind of cool though... could round them all up in one place and then start dropping elbows like a madman. But I digress; what we're talking about here is another adaptation that's on its way from 20th Century Fox.

Deadline reports that Charles Leavitt has just landed another high-profile adaptation gig, Those Who Wish Me Dead, which Steve Zaillian’s Film Rites is producing.

The project has been out to several top guys since Fox acquired rights to the thriller last fall, and it was Blood Diamond scribe Leavitt’s take that impressed them the most.

The novel revolves around a teenage murder witness lost in the Montana wilderness, the twin assassins hunting him, a survival expert tasked with protecting him, and a forest fire that threatens to consume them all. Little Brown publishes the book in May.

Another fresh face has joined the cast of the HBO Shirtless-a-Thon known as "True Blood," and we have the scoop right here for you. That is, if you still care. You do still care, don't you? We kinda checked out two seasons ago.

Deadline is reporting that Riley Smith (pictured; "90210") is set for a major recurring role. He will play Keith, a sexy, rock and roll vampire with a romantic side. A drummer in James’ (Nathan Parson) band, he becomes smitten with Arlene (Carrie Preston) on first sight.

Ever since we heard at the end of January that Kevin Williamson is working on a new pilot for CBS, we've been hungry for more details; and today they have come, including who his lead actor is. Read on for the details.

Per Deadline, Dylan McDermott ("Hostages,""American Horror Story") is set as the male lead in the so far untitled pilot, a CBS/Warner Bros. TV project written by Williamson (Scream, "The Vampire Diaries,""The Following") and directed by Liz Friedlander ("The Secret Circle,""The Following").

The psychological thriller revolves around two detectives, Beth and Jack (McDermott), who handle stalking incidents for the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD. McDermott’s Jack Larsen is a recent transfer from the Threat Assessment Unit from New York. His healthy confidence and quick thinking have gotten him into trouble in the past — a past he hopes to leave behind.

Elsewhere, Thierry (guest star Callard Harris) is reluctant to get involved when Marcel and Rebekah approach him with a plan to take down the witches. Meanwhile, in the bayou, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is at her wits’ end and holds Sabine hostage in an attempt to get information that will reverse the curse on Phoebe’s werewolf clan.

With "Helix" Season 1 winding down, viewers are gonna want some answers, and that seems to be what's in store for us in Episode 1.10, "Fushigi." Per usual the photos provided by Syfy don't reveal much, but we also have the first five minutes and a preview of the ep.

Whew! A flurry of casting news has come out over the past few days for The CW's potential spinoff series "Supernatural: Tribes," and we have all the details here on who'll be playing a werewolf, a shapeshifter, and a mentor with a dirty little secret.

As previously announced, Nathaniel Buzolic plays David Hayden, a shapeshifter from one of Chicago’s ruling monster families, while Lucien Laviscount portrays Ennis Roth, a human police academy trainee who learns the truth about what lurks in the shadows and becomes a monster hunter himself.

Now, as for the newbies, TVLine reports that Sean Faris (pictured above), currently recurring as Officer Gabriel Holbrook on "Pretty Little Liars" (he also appeared on "The Vampire Diaries" as Ben McKittrick), will play Julian Durant, the son of a wealthy family of lycanthropes who has no love for the Hayden clan.

Filling out said Hayden clan will be Danielle Savre (pictured below left; "Heroes,""Hollywood Heights") as Margo, the acting head of the shapeshifting family who feels threatened by David's return following his attempt to live as a human for several years. She's an ex-punk rocker turned corporate professional.

Another former "Vampire Diaries" actor, Stephen Martines (pictured below right; "Burn Notice,""The Closer"), will play Detective Freddie Costa, a mentor to Ennis, who is on the take from the monster families that control the city.

The "Tribes" backdoor pilot airs as Episode 9.20 of "Supernatural" on April 29th.

We won't say anything about last night's season premiere of "Hannibal" to avoid spoilers for those of you who DVR'd it (except "Wow!"), but if you're caught up and ready to look ahead, here's a preview of Episode 2.02, "Sakizuki."

Hannibal is able to put the clues together before the BAU team, arriving at the killer’s silo and helping him to carry out his fascinating, yet deadly tableau... just not in the way the killer intended.

Jack (Laurence Fishburne) tries to deal with his guilt over not protecting Will and submits to mandated therapy after Alana Bloom’s (Caroline Dhavernas) scathing report. To Jack’s surprise the counseling turns out to be beneficial.

The BAU team independently arrives at the silo, finding a human tapestry of forty-seven bodies patched together, the killer hidden in plain sight.

Awaiting his upcoming trial, Will is surprised by an unexpected guest—Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson)—who gives him a much-needed boost to his psyche.

Cynthia Nixon also guest stars.

The "Penny Dreadful" website is undergoing a transformation, and IGN got hold of new photos and bios for several characters that will be a part of the site plus something Frankenstein fans should appreciate...

Beginning next week, Penny-Dreadful.com will change to a more immersive and interactive experience that will take fans deep into the world of the series, giving them more insight into what to expect.

The updated content will include an interactive tarot card experience, character cinemagraphs, and literary elements as a nod to the characters' history.

Recently video game developer Erin Reynolds was on his show "Varney & Co." to talk about her upcoming videogame Nevermind, the acclaimed biofeedback horror adventure game that gets more challenging as you get scared, honing your ability to manage anxiety.

Basically how the game works is that the more scared you get, the scarier the world gets. If you suffer from anxiety disorder, you know exactly just how scary that can be. Hell, even if you don't, when your heart's racing and you're frightened, making decisions is not easy. Reynolds is creating Nevermind as a means to both have fun and learn to manage stress. That's some pretty groundbreaking and interesting stuff there.

The powers-that-be have granted The Purge: Anarchy a new release date. You'll now find the film in theatres on July 18, 2014, about a month later than originally announced.

The sequel stars Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Carmen Ejogo, Jasper Cole, Zoe Borde, Chad Morgan, and Kiele Sanchez.
