Formerly titled Haunted, Victor Salva's Dark House has opened up its creaky doors, and we have an exclusive clip that may or may not help you decide whether or not to walk on in! Check it out!

The horror-suspense feature Dark House, starring the iconic Tobin Bell (Saw), began its day-and-date roll-out on March 11th via Cinedigm in North America across cable, VOD, Blu-ray Disc, and DVD. Paladin will release the movie in New York and Los Angeles on March 14 with additional markets to follow.

Dark House, which follows the terrifying road trip of a young man in search of his dark past, is the freshman effort of LA-based Charles Agron Productions. It is directed by Victor Salva, who co-wrote the script with producer Charles Agron, based on a story by Agron. In addition to producing the film and co-writing with Salva, Agron plays a lead role.

A few days ago when another actor joined The CW's "iZombie" pilot, we wondered when they'd land their lead actress, and now we wonder no longer as word has come that it will be Rose McIver ("Once Upon a Time,""Masters of Sex").

Per Deadline, New Zealand native McIver will play med student-turned-zombie Olivia “Liv” Moore, who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories.

With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

McIver joins the previously announced Robert Buckley, Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney, and David Anders in the project .

Fans of "The Originals" got a bit of a jolt last night as Rebekah drove off into the sunset, leaving us to wonder if she's gone for good or just taking a break from her battling brothers. Well, today the official word has come...

THR has confirmed that Australian actress Holt is indeed departing the show as a series regular although the door remains open for her to return as a guest star, potentially reprising her role as early as later this season or during the show's sophomore run.

Rebekah first appeared early in the third season of "The Vampire Diaries" in the 2011 episode "The End of the Affair," prompting an expanded presence on that series and leading to her landing the co-lead on "The Originals" with Joseph Morgan as Klaus and Daniel Gillies as Elijah. Holt has played the character for more than 50 episodes.

We'll miss her sparkly personality and interactions with the rest of her brood and definitely look forward to seeing her visit New Orleans in the coming months and years.

“True Detective” is over. “Hannibal” is only getting started. “The Walking Dead” are still walking. Godzilla is returning. That means the fiends of Dinner for Fiends have plenty to chew on for this latest installment. Do you have the stomach for it?

Uncle Creepy was buried under an avalanche of work so it was up to Matt, Buz, Andrew, and yours truly (I’m back!) to disseminate the climax of “True Detective,” the static state of “The Walking Dead,” and the first two episodes of the second season of the best show on television you’re not watching, AKA “Hannibal.”

Before venturing deep into Carcosa, we talk Godzilla, old and new, as well as taking a few moments for the Oldboy remake, the new RoboCop, Pompeii, Stalingrad, and much more.

And somehow, some way, once again Yellowbrickroad factors into the discussion. That film truly is our Carcosa.

During last month's Toy Fair we got word that Bif Bang Pow! is giving "The Twilight Zone" the vintage treatment with six 3-3/4" figures coming in the first wave, and now we have more details and official photos to share.

Also, during the 2014 SXSW Film Festival, where the film recently screened, Evans asked two of his stars, Iko Uwais (Rama) and Yayan Ruhian (Prakoso), to come up onstage and give the fans an impromptu demonstration of their skills. Fortunately for those of us who couldn't make it to the Texas fest, the good folks at Austin-based geek news site One of Us caught the action on camera.

Synopsis
He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn’t have been more wrong.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) acquired the film for the United States, Spain, Latin America, and South Africa; and Sony Pictures Classics will once again release the film theatrically in the United States.

We've been talking about a Doctor Strange movie here on Dread Central for a long while now, and with the pieces slowly falling into place, a short list of directors for the project has come to light. Read on to see who could possibly be bringing the Strange in a big way!

According to THR reporter Borys Kit on Twitter, the aforementioned directors includes Mark Andrews (Brave), Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane), and Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose).

Given my familiarity and love for the character, I'd like to see Derrickson tackle it, but Levin is also a very inspired choice. Stay tuned.

The last actor they were looking at to assume the mystical role was The Dark Knight Rises, Looper, and Inception's Joseph Gordon-Levitt (pictured).

The film is being penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.

Created in 1963, Doctor Strange is the story of an arrogant surgeon who is injured in a car accident and goes on to become the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel universe. Using his magical powers, Strange protects the Earth from attacks from other realms.

Last night was the premiere of "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" on El Rey Network. While promoting the show, Robert Rodriguez had some pretty interesting things to say about it and the movie it's based on. Read on for that plus the full Q&A from the Alamo Drafthouse screening event.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Rodriguez revealed that he feels the series is an even stronger piece of entertainment than the film due to the slow-burn approach of TV storytelling and the fact that we're already familiar with the characters and situations.

"The series is a crime saga with supernatural elements so you have to feel that from the very beginning, but it works much better because it’s the novel version so there are ties," he said. "Everyone’s supposed to get to that bar. Everyone’s destined to get there, and when they get there, because they don’t even get there until like halfway through the season, it’s so emotional when you get there, and you know what’s gonna happen and you know that everyone’s tied to it and it’s their destiny. Even the girl who comes out with the snake means so much now because you’ve gotten glimpses of her already. It’s really powerful, and I really like this version more than the film."

He also talked about the genesis of the project, which has allowed him to expand on ideas he once only dreamed of expanding upon.

"Really early on, I just thought this would be a really great show to do, said Rodriguez. "Ever since we finished the movie, there’s a last shot that I put in that wasn’t in the script where the camera pulls back and you see that the bar was on top of an Aztec temple. People always loved that tease, thinking, ‘Is there a sequel that’s gonna follow this up,’ and we never did. And I’ve had that matte painting on my wall for 18 years, and I always thought, 'I wanna do something with that.' I didn’t know what. I didn’t know it’d be TV until I got this network."

After showcasing what we hear was nothing short of an absolutely epic clip from Legendary Pictures' upcoming take on Godzilla at the SXSW Film Festival, director Gareth Edwards answered a few questions which have been lingering in the minds of fans.

In terms of the tone of the film... will it be a serious film or a campy affair...

"Probably one of the important things I felt about this film was that the characters at the heart of the story shouldn’t be superheroes," Edwards tells Variety. "They should be everyday relatable people. In the [Steven] Spielberg movies they found that holy grail, the sweet spot of having the epic spectacle, but also relatable and emotional characters. Those events change and affect the characters, but the idea of someone blatantly saving the day becomes quite predictable. The events are real harrowing and present a life-changing scenario, so we just tried to take it really serious."

As for the pressures of making his own version of Godzilla...

"As much pressure as the fans put on you, the studio put on you, nothing equals the amount of pressure I put on myself. You only live once and this is a once in a multiple lifetime opportunity, so I don’t want to screw it up. But you also shouldn’t make a film for other people, you should make something you want to sit and watch that gives you goosebumps. I was really nervous doing this. I went from a really low budget movie to this massive tentpole Hollywood movie. I was genuinely nervous, hearing these horror stories of filmmakers losing control and the studio taking over and everybody said, look at movies like this that you respect and see which studios made them. Legendary and Warner had a very high score, very filmmaker-friendly. During filming I kept turning to Seamus [McGarvey, the cinematographer] as we were filming and asked, “how normal is this freedom?” He told me that he had never worked on a film with this amount of freedom. But Thomas Tull protected me from everything and he’s such a massive fanboy, we had a bit of a freak-out together."

So is Godzilla a sequel to the original and what is the beast's nature good or evil?

"No, it is a standalone movie that is inspired by the original and we worked with Toho [who is distributing in Japan], who produced that film. [Godzilla is] neither [good or evil]. He’s restoring the balance to nature. We’ve taken an absurd position on the planet as this alpha predator and the movie suggests, what happens if we weren’t top dog. He comes along and puts us in our place. If you try and pick a fight with nature, you’re going to lose. But the film does take itself very seriously. I could have made a cheesy popcorn version and it probably would have done well, but that’s not what we were looking for."

Gareth Edwards (Monsters) directs an all-star cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Richard T. Jones, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, Yuki Morita, C.J. Adams, and Gary Chalk.

In theaters May 16, 2014, an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Good news coming in for collectors of horror on Blu-ray as the Lucio Fulci classic The Beyond (AKA 7 Doors of Death) and Cannibal Holocaust are getting set to make their high definition premiere via Grindhouse Releasing!

Preliminary street dates for these upcoming releases have not yet been revealed.

The Beyond Synopsis
A young woman from New York named Liza (Katherine MacColl) inherits a Louisiana motel that has been unoccupied for nearly 60 years. While restoring the old building, many of the workers meet mysterious and untimely deaths, each more ill-fated than the next. Furthermore, Liza is visited by a blind specter named Emily (Sarah Keller) who lectures from a 4,000-year-old book of collected prophecies that explains the motel is situated above one of seven portals to hell. As her sanity dwindles, Liza finds some much-needed stability in a local doctor named John McCabe (David Warbeck), who is determined to find a rational explanation for the recent state of affairs. Nevertheless, the protagonists are led through a maze of bizarre confrontations with beings beyond the realm of the living, and into an apocalyptic world of unknown horrors. The Beyondis at once the quintessential Lucio Fulci film and a staple in the overall Italian horror genre. The director's epic masterpiece is a blend of atmospheric surrealism and nightmarish visions (a grisly tarantula attack, flesh-melting acid spills, a softball-sized gun blast through the skull of a young zombified girl, and an eyeball impaling or two) that are definitely unsuitable for those with weak stomachs.

Cannibal Holocaust Synopsis
Banned and heavily censored the world over, here is a film that surpasses its reputation as a shot-gun blast to the senses. Cannibal Holocaust presents the "found footage" of a group of four documentary filmmakers who experience brutal death at the hands of a savage South American tribe of flesh-eaters. This footage is so intense, so graphic and so unflinching in its realism that the director and producer of Cannibal Holocaust were arrested upon its original release and the film seized. With a soundtrack by Riz Ortolani.

The 1983 film based upon the book by Ray Bradbury entitled Something Wicked This Way Comes should be a staple of required viewing in your household every Halloween. It celebrates everything fun about the wondrous time of year!

In case you've forgotten about it, Disney is looking to give you a reminder!

According to Deadline, Disney is making a new version of the classic thriller. The studio has set Seth Grahame-Smith to make his feature directorial debut on the project. He will begin work immediately writing a treatment, and the studio then will hire a writer to script the project. Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg’s KatzSmith Productions will be the producing banner, and Katzenberg will produce the film.

The novel tells the story of Mr. Dark, the evil proprietor of a traveling carnival who preys on the residents of a small town by bartering possession of their souls for the dreams each one has. Grahame-Smith said it was his favorite book as a child, but he doesn’t feel the movie is sacrosanct. Although the late Bradbury wrote the script, he later lamented that the movie lost a lot of the book. Grahame-Smith intends to put it back and plug a new generation into the tale.

“I have been so crazy about this book, and it was such a formative title in my life that I actually wrote a piece on NPR about why it is so important for young males to read,” Grahame-Smith said. “It is a classic coming-of-age, father-son story about the transition from childhood to adulthood and how kids can’t wait to be adults and adults romanticize their childhoods. I’m not remaking the movie; I want the haunted atmosphere that makes the book so chilling, and I want to reinstate some of the classic scenes from the book that were missing from the ’83 film.”
