At the tail end of last week, we learned that Dimension Films/Blumhouse Productions had tapped a director for their upcoming Amityville movie, bringing Maniac remake director Franck Khalfoun into the infamous house.

Now, we've got the very first casting details for the flick, formerly titled The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes. Read on!

First up, our friends over on Bloody Disgusting broke the news over the weekend that Jennifer Jason Leigh (pictured) will topline the film, set to star as lead character Joan, a single mother who moves her three kids into the Amityville house, which of course has a very dark history.

The Wrap reports today that Disney Channel star Bella Thorne is also on board, likely being cast as one of Joan's three kids.

Dimension had planned on reigniting the popular horror franchise using a found-footage angle but that idea has been dropped, as the format appears to have fallen out of favor with discerning genre fans. Amityville remains scheduled for release on Jan. 2, 2015.

Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala co-wrote the script and are expected to produce with Jason Blum of hit factory Blumhouse.

NBC has released a pair of new stills from its reimagined "Rosemary's Baby," and they depict the happier moments of Rosemary's soon to be thrown into a Satan-fueled shitstorm of a life! Check 'em out!

The four-hour "Rosemary's Baby" miniseries, an adaptation of the 1967 best-selling suspense novel by Ira Levin, is being directed by Agnieska Holland (In Darkness, "Treme").

It stars Zoe Saldana as Rosemary; Patrick J. Adams as her husband, Guy; Jason Isaacs as warlock/coven-leader Roman Castevet; Carole Bouquet as Margaux Castevet, a sophisticated and beautiful Parisian socialite who befriends young Rosemary; and Christina Cole as Julie, Rosemary’s spirited girlfriend.

"Rosemary’s Baby," produced by Lionsgate TV, is set in Paris. It was penned by Scott Abbott and James Wong and is exec produced by Joshua Maurer, Alix Witlin, and David Stern with Saldana, Cisely Saldana, and Mariel Saldana producing.

I’m very sad to report the passing of Gwar frontman/founder and Holliston co-star Dave Brockie (AKA Oderus Urungus). Details are scarce, but he was found dead in his home earlier this week at the age of 50. Anyone who’s ever had the pleasure of seeing a Gwar show knows what a huge loss this is for the metal community. Rest in peace.

In a recent interview, Rob Halford confirmed that the new Judas Priest album is done and is “fucking heavy." Look for it later this year.

Opeth are eying a June release on Roadrunner Records for their upcoming eleventh album, which they recently completed recording. Official details should be announced soon.

Many have made the claim that 1984 represented the paragon of both film-going and film-making. With films like Repo Man, The Toxic Avenger, Night of the Comet, The Last Starfighter and Ice Pirates, 1984 turned out to be a cinematic buffet; and the festival will be screening some of the best films from that glorious year, featuring live commentary from the people who made them.

In 2014 The B Movie Celebration will take place in the artist colony of Nashville, Indiana, from August 8th-10th at the Historic Brown County Playhouse.

Synopsis
Kaveh and Raul are two B-movie co-writers who have suffered a bitter falling out. Formidable though they may have been, Rama’s opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap.

And so Rama begins a new odyssey of violence, a journey that will force him to set aside his own life and history and take on a new identity as the violent offender “Yuda.” In prison he must gain the confidence of Uco – the son of a prominent gang kingpin – to join the gang himself, laying his own life on the line in a desperate all-or-nothing gambit to bring the whole rotten enterprise to an end.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) acquired the film for the United States, Spain, Latin America, and South Africa; and Sony Pictures Classics will once again release the film theatrically in the United States.

As promised yesterday, Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow just a few minutes ago, but you don't have to hunt for it. We have it for you right here!

The Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Pictures sci-fi thriller is directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jeremy Piven, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

The screenplay was written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie, and Joby Harold.

Synopsis
The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again… and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
