Full Rosemary's Baby Details RevealedAfter weeks of images, teasers, etc., NBC has finally released the full details for its reimagined "Rosemary's Baby." Read on for the press release and all the details fit to print. Then think twice before asking your knocked up significant other to get a short haircut and move into a mysterious building.

From the Press Release
This new adaptation of “Rosemary’s Baby” centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind.

After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse – an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.

Rosemary (Zoe Saldana; Avatar, Star Trek Into Darkness) and Guy (Patrick J. Adams; “Suits”) are incredulous at their good fortune and find comfort in a strange city among their new friends and neighbors, the Castevets. This well-to-do successful older couple takes the newcomers under their wing and become very involved with the Woodhouses’ lives. Things seem to be perfect as Rosemary becomes pregnant and Guy’s career takes off. As their spirited best friend, Guy’s co-worker Julie (Christina Cole), spends quality time with Rosemary in the city, she finds Rosemary’s health worrying and cautions both of them that something isn’t right. Soon there are other signs warning Rosemary to be careful.

Guy seems to be pulling away from Rosemary and spending a great deal of time hanging around with Roman Castevet (Jason Isaacs; Harry Potter franchise). Roman’s wife, the whimsical Margaux Castevet (Carole Bouquet; For Your Eyes Only), assures Rosemary her herbs and holistic medicine will help with the pregnancy, but are they helping or hurting? Rosemary’s quizzical nature leads her to investigate the building and its past residents. She uncovers a dark past and realizes who Roman Castevet truly is. But is it too late? Are the Castavets’ perceived sinister motives legitimate or all in the pregnancy brain of Rosemary?

In this new four-hour, two-part psychological thriller written by Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) and James Wong (Final Destination 3, “American Horror Story,” “The X-Files”) and directed by Agnieszka Holland (Europa Europa, “The Wire,” “Treme”), Rosemary quickly finds herself surrounded by peculiar people and startling occurrences. Isolated in her apartment in a city where she doesn’t speak the language, she begins to fear the worst: Guy may have made a pact with their neighbors, promising their newborn as a human sacrifice in occult rituals in exchange for a writing career. To what lengths would someone be willing to go for success and fortune?

“Rosemary’s Baby” is executive produced by Joshua D. Maurer, Alixandre Witlin, and David Stern and produced by City Entertainment, KippSter Entertainment, and Lionsgate Television.

The two jokers think it’s all fun and games until they come face-to-face with a real menace.

Stars Confirm Tucker & Dale vs. Evil Sequel in the WorksAs far as horror comedies go, one of the best in recent years is no doubt Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, which brilliantly pit college kids against backwoods hillbillies in a way never before seen in the annals of horror cinema. We've been begging for a sequel since the film's release in 2010, and it looks like our prayers have been answered. Read on!

As reported by FEARNET, Tucker & Dale stars Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk were on hand at last weekend's HorrorHound convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, and during the panel they spilled the beans that a sequel is currently being developed.

"We're gonna make another one," Tudyk nonchalantly blurted out during the Q&A session. Labine went on to say that neither of them would ever make "a shitty sequel," promising that Tucker & Dale 2 will live up to the quality of the first film.

Watch the clip below to hear the full announcement for yourself!

In the first film Tudyk and Labine portrayed Tucker and Dale, two innocent dudes who were mistaken for backwoods killers. No word yet on what the storyline of the sequel will be, though we can expect to once again see the lovable characters finding themselves in a most unexpected situation!

First Images Take You Directly Into the Storm

First Images Take You Directly Into the StormAt the tail end of last year, we told you about an upcoming found footage film called Into the Storm, being directed by Steven Quale (Final Destination 5). Today we have your first look at the windy action along with some more information about the movie. Read on!

As per USA Today, "The Walking Dead" star Sarah Wayne Callies plays a meteorologist who teams up with a storm chaser (Matt Walsh) intent on getting the ultimate shot — with the help of a new tornado-proof armored vehicle named Titus.

Meanwhile, Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) is an assistant school principal who goes from overseeing a graduation ceremony to frantically trying to find his missing son in the midst of near-biblical weather.

The film focuses on these and other characters in a small Oklahoma town who are brought together by the massive storm, and Quale says that the goal of the film is for the action to be as realistic as it can possibly be. "People are going to be blown away," he vows. "What Gravity did to space, this movie will do to natural phenomena and weather."

Into the Storm is expected to huff, puff, and blow down theatrical doors on August 8th.

Jeremy Sumpter, Arlen Escarpeta, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress, Kyle Davis, Jon Reep, and Scott Lawrence also star.

Eduardo Sanchez Teases Potential Blair Witch Project Sequel

    0

Eduardo Sanchez Teases Potential Blair Witch Project SequelBack in 1999 Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick introduced the world to The Blair Witch Project, one of the most influential horror films of all time. Though it was, of course, followed up with a sequel, the duo had nothing to do with it...

...and now it seems they're primed and ready to return to the woods. What's the holdup? Read on for details!

In an interview with Movies.com while promoting his upcoming Bigfoot flick Exists, Sanchez hinted that he's totally on board to revive the franchise, but the ball is at this point in Lionsgate's court.

"You know, Lionsgate owns the property so it's obviously up to them right now," said Sanchez. "We've been talking to them for the past four or five years about doing it, but there's nothing really in the works right now with us."

Exists represents the reunion of Sanchez and Lionsgate, and when asked by the website if the reunion would further talks about another Blair Witch movie, Sanchez noted that it could potentially happen. Though again, nothing is planned at this time.

So what would Sanchez do with a sequel if Lionsgate handed him and Myrick the ball and told them to run with it? "Our plan for the sequel is definitely not doing a found-footage movie," he says, seemingly intent on bringing a far different vision to the screen.

We'll of course report more if there's ever anything more to report in regards to this one!

WGN America Airing Salem: Witches Are Real TONIGHT!Any of you heathens planning to check out the new series "Salem" when it debuts on WGN America next month? First be sure to learn all about the mystery surrounding the Salem witch trials tonight, March 25th, in a WGN America documentary special at 11PM ET/8PM PT. Here's a taste!

In addition to a sneak peek of the 30-minute "Salem: Witches Are Real" below, we have a new entry in the "Salem" Torture Tuesday series to share: the thumbscrew. A non-lethal method to induce confessions of witchcraft, the thumbscrew was designed to slowly crush thumbs with metal points and inflict pain in the nail beds.

    "Salem: Witches Are Real" Synopsis:
In 1692 hundreds of people were accused of being witches in Salem, Massachusetts—and 25 of them were killed.

Explore the dark history of the infamous witch trials in "Salem: Witches Are Real," featuring in-depth interviews with historians, professors, and other Salem authorities to provide a sense of what Salem was truly like at this notorious time and what it meant for the individuals who built, and ended, their lives there.

WGN America Airing Salem: Witches Are Real TONIGHT!

In “Salem” witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem. The show, which centers on an epic romance wrapped around this explosive revelation, delivers a bold new vision of Salem – and an even bolder new vision of witches.

Created, executive produced, and written by award-winning writer/producer Brannon Braga (“24,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise”) and Adam Simon (The Haunting in Connecticut), “Salem” stars Janet Montgomery (“Human Target,” “Made in Jersey”) as the ruthless but vulnerable Mary Sibley, Salem’s most powerful enchantress, and Shane West (“Nikita,” “ER”) as handsome, hardened war veteran John Alden – and Mary’s onetime love interest.

Co-starring are Seth Gabel (“Fringe”) as local aristocrat Cotton Mather, who fans the flames of Salem’s witch hunt; Ashley Madekwe (“Revenge”) as Mary’s mysterious, carnal accomplice; Xander Berkeley (“Nikita,” “Being Human”) as chief politician Magistrate Hale; Tamzin Merchant (Jane Eyre) as the forthright Anne Hale, an artist with a perilous attraction to Alden; Elise Eberle (The Astronaut Farmer) as the mysteriously afflicted Mercy Lewis; and Iddo Goldberg (“Mob City”) as outcast Isaac Walton.

“Salem,” premiering on Sunday, April 20th, enters the world of the most notorious witch trials in history, a period steeped in fear, suspicion, and hysteria. On an expansive set in Shreveport, Louisiana, built to reflect volatile 17th century Massachusetts, “Salem” explores what really fueled the town's infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth behind them.

Keep your eyes on the "Salem" Facebook page for updates and more info.

Slender Man to Haunt The Eidolon State

    0

Slender Man to Haunt The Eidolon StateSlender Man has become an Internet sensation and even had a recent episode of "Supernatural" based upon his exploits, but now the Freeze Frame Films team is looking to take his haunting mythos to another level with the short film The Eidolon State.

"You tend to see a lot of found footage films about The Slender Man, most of them based off the popular video game Slender: The Eight Pages," say the fine folks over at Freeze Frame, who include Dion Cavallaro and Paul Thomas.

"Along with this, most Slender Man films tend to use people in morph suits or morph masks, which we feel is not a correct portrayal of The Slender Man. Our film has been treated with a different approach. We are working on something that uses films such as The Conjuring or Sinister as a guide - detailed stories with beautiful cinematography and a true sense of horror. Along with this, our film never actually refers to the character as 'The Slender Man' but refers to him as 'The Tall Man.' Our main goal is to bring people the Slender Man short film we feel they deserve, similar to how Gareth Edwards is about to deliver the new Godzilla film that fans have been wanting."

Exclusive: Jose Prendes Shares His Divine TragediesOn a special day of shooting writer-director Jose Prendes’ Divine Tragedies with the fantastic Ken Foree, Dread Central was invited to watch some... well… shooting. In the scene they were about to film, Foree’s character gets shot. Whether he lives or dies, we can’t say...

But here’s what Prendes had to say:

Dread Central: So, tell us how you assembled this amazing cast!

Jose Prendes: Ken Foree and Barbara Crampton were always on our list, but we never thought we could get them, or thought they would be into it, because the roles are very stylized. Especially Barbara's role, which is very unique, and she hasn't really played anything like that before. So for her to call me up and say, 'This is a really disturbing script but it would make such a lovely movie and I want to be a part of it,' really means a lot.

DC: Well, she did do You're Next. That was pretty messed up, her role… lots of gore.

JP: And she saw the real kind of beauty behind all the ugliness. She understood the happy ending message I was trying to convey and she appreciated it. So I'm thrilled to have her with us.

DC: So it sounds like there are some surreal moments here where we may or may not know what is going on.

JP: Yeah, that was always the goal with this one. I’m a big horror movie fan but I’ve just grown tired of the genre. There is so much repetition and it gets so boring to the point where I’m not interested in seeing anything. So I wanted to write something that I thought could really distinguish itself and break the mold from a typical movie. Like somewhere along the lines of something like Inception, which really broke the mold on the thriller, or if you look at anything David Lynch did or David Cronenberg’s films, they found a way to really break our hold on reality and show us the world in a different way, and I think that’s what horror movies do best. They show the world in a different way. The best scary movies are the ones that feel real but can twist the world into unknown shapes.

DC: I think that’s very cinematic.

JP: Right! Exactly. I think I've had my fill of kids in the woods movies.

    DC: And Hostel .

JP: Yeah, for me gore’s great, but if it’s just on displayed to be on display, then I’m just not as interested. However, if it has something to do with the story and I care about who's dying and what is happening, then it’s justifiable.

DC: Yeah, tell me about the characters and why we should care about them.

JP: The movie is about two brothers, Thomas and Charles. They grew up very isolated. Their mother, who is played by Barbara, is basically a gold digger. She finds rich husbands and marries them to live off of their money. So these boys have sort of been brought up in this kind of rich seclusion. And through their life they've developed this understanding of the world, they've basically created their own religion in terms of how mankind is meant to evolve and how superior intellect allows the superior human being to achieve transcendence to another, God-like level. Those of lesser intelligence don’t realize our bodies are only meat suits, and the goal of the brothers is to take the next step and seek divinity by helping others shuffle off this mortal coil."

"So they’ve started out small, forcing people to do things, killing animals. Then they decide they are ready to kill somebody so their big plan is to find the perfect woman, an angel on Earth, to be their first victim, who is played by the lovely Hannah Levien. Of course they are maniacs and things don’t go according to plan. I don’t know that the audience will necessarily care about them at first, but by the end, when they have come undone somewhat, I think everyone in the audience will see something of themselves in what is left. And Ken Foree is our detective who is put on the case to track them down.

DC: In your press release you said he has this special gift?

JP: Yes, he's psychic and uses psychometry, which is fascinating. It’s interesting because I had a psychic in my other movie and it is not something I intended initially, but it felt right to me. I wrote this movie in like 4 or 5 days. It just kind of burst out on the page and came to life and Homer suddenly became psychic and it felt right because these boys believe in magic, and ultimately they are undone by magic.

DC: Is it like, does everyone know that?

JP: Well, everyone in his police station knows. I almost wanted to make it feel like an 80's cop comedy sometimes; he's sort of our comic relief. Ken's so cool so I tweaked the dialog for him, to make him a little more alive. Things get so bleak that we need someone to come in and give us a smile here and there, and humor is always a big part of movies for me.

DC: It’s a serial killer film so are they just inspiring to kill?

JP: Yeah, without giving too much away, it is about serial killers, or two men who believe that is a way of life to be admired.

DC: Whereabouts are you in filming right now?

JP: Right now this is day 6 of 14. It’s a very tight schedule.

    DC: Who's your DP?

JP: My DP is Kyle Stryker; he's awesome, such a great collaborator.

DC: But he must be challenged with all this for having to do stuff really quickly.

JP: Well, he knew coming in that it was going to be tight and he was all in. That passion to make movies is important on indie projects. That’s the kind of people you need on a set like this, where everyone loves making movies and loves being a part of it. We’ve been having a great time; it's a family, and that’s important to me. I want my cast and crew to enjoy the birthing process.

DC: Have you had Barbara on yet?

JP: No, not yet, but I look forward to it. I've talked to her on the phone a couple of times and we email back and forth. She emails me questions about this or that and I explain what I meant so it’s already been a fun collaboration. And I keep texting her pictures of her boys so that she has something to visually hook onto. I wish we had time to meet in person, but unfortunately she doesn’t live in LA and was also off filming another film. But I got to hang out with Ken way before we shot, which was nice.

DC: Yeah, that doesn't hurt. Is there anything you want to add? Since you’re still shooting and I haven’t read the script, it’s hard to know exactly what to ask!

JP: We tried to make a very different movie in terms of a horror film. It’s got elements of other things; obviously there are homages to things that I like. But ultimately, I wanted to offer moviegoers something different. It’s kind of a beautiful horror movie. There are some bizarre, disgusting moments, but there is a weird poetry there and I am a big fan of subtext. There is a lot of subtext in this, like in Lady Vengeance, where symbolism really told that tale.

DC: Some of what you say kind of reminds me of Frailty, the one with Bill Paxton.

JP: Yeah, that’s interesting; I can see that. The two movies that inspired me in this were Compulsion with Orson Welles, and [Hitchcock's] Rope with Jimmy Stewart, who is the fucking man, and they are both about the Leopold and Loeb case, but only Compulsion is the one that really follows the case.

DC: I haven't seen that one but I have seen Rope.

JP: Yeah Compulsion is fantastic. There’s a young Dean Stockwell in it; it's great.

DC: So in terms of release, do you have a date or…?

JP: We will have a final cut by May because we want to start to make a couple festivals so we are sort of rushing post. Be we are shooting in a way where this isn't a lot of cutting to be done. It’s very Kubrick, or Kurosawa-styled. Akira somehow managed to frame everybody perfectly in these amazing wide shots. So that was a big inspiration for me. So was Carpenter.

    Synopsis
Based loosely on the famous Leopold and Loeb murder case, the film tells the tale of Charles Brubaker (Graham Denman, The Haunting of Whaley House) and his half-brother, Thomas Lo Bianco (Jon Kondelik, Airplane vs. Volcano), who concoct a deadly game to test their superior intelligence against the dimwitted masses. This game will eventually lead to murder, and when Genevieve, a beautiful single mother, enters their lives, they finally find the perfect girl for their first kill. But problems arise when they quickly discover that Detective Homer Gaul (Ken Foree), a cop with a very special gift, is hot on their trail.

Blanc/Biehn Productions Announces New Project Fembot

Blanc/Biehn Productions Announces New Project FembotBlanc/Biehn Productions has announced another new project, Fembot, which will see a release date in the fall of 2015; and we have the early details for you right here, including a very familiar name listed among the film's credits.

Fembot will star Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, The Victim, The Divide) and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (Everly, Wrong Cops, The Victim, "Dark Angel") and introduces Martin Richard Kristek to Hollywood. Additional cast members will be announced next month.

The film will be directed by editor Vance Crofoot (Treachery, The Victim) and written by our own Staci Layne Wilson.

Fembot marks Biehn's first robot movie since The Terminator and Blanc-Biehn's first super-human story since "Dark Angel."

During a recent trip to Vienna, the couple met Kristek (see all three pictured below), who made a lasting impression on them with his charisma as a European actor and DJ as well as his message and views on the subject of renewable energies. Kristek, owner and CEO of Care-Energy and ESCO, supplies over 380,000 customers in Germany with renewable, sustainable energy. His company’s work creates the greatest possible independence of energy at socially acceptable prices. Currently he is set to internationalize his energy service company.

But first he'll have a supporting role in the film as a solar energy provider working with the inventor of the Fembot.

"I am so excited to work with Martin on this project. I found him to be one of the most interesting, smart, and talented people I have met in a long time,"says Biehn.

"We think Kristek will be a wonderful character in this film," adds Blanc-Biehn.

    Synopsis:
Imagine a world in the not-too-distant future in which your every whim and desire can be fulfilled by a beautiful, charming, and sexually adventurous female robot. Thanks to ingenious scientific advances and potency provided by benevolent green energy eco-power plants, these “Fembots” are a dream come true. She’s lifelike, responsive, warm, and soft to the touch -- she even smells like cotton candy. What man wouldn’t want one?

Wealthy entrepreneur Zayden Beckett (Biehn) can’t wait to invest... both professionally and personally. Beckett test-drives a few Fembot models before he settles on Arla, the most intelligent of the lot and specially programmed just for him. Unfortunately, the devious inventor of the Fembot has cut corners with Arla, using a different, inferior energy source. She develops a mind of her own and a thought process which allows for jealousy. When Beckett begins to fall in love with a real woman, Arla goes on the attack.

Fembot serves as a warning, a wake-up call for the viewer: Beware of the temptations of the virtual reality – because in the end you might find yourself out in a real world that’s more fiction than fact, where nothing is real anymore. Fembot is a thrilling and erotic, energy-conscious sci-fi suspense film.

Production begins in July 2014 with plans to premiere the film in 2015 so expect lots more later this year.

Lots of New Stuff on the Way from William Butler and Film RomanAround these parts we've been fans of William Butler ever since his roles in Night of the Living Dead (1990) and Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III so any time we hear that he's involved in something new, we take notice. Case in point...

    From the Press Release
Producer-director-writer William Butler’s Transition Entertainment has been inked to a first-look deal by Starz Animation’s Film Roman.

Butler and his Transition team, which includes three-time Emmy Award® winner John Vulich, will work with Film Roman’s General Manager, Head of Production Dana Booton to assist in the development and creation of animated and live-action content for all platforms.

“Film Roman has long established itself as one of the premier companies for creators to thrive. The Transition Entertainment team is extremely proud to contribute to their exciting slate of projects,” said William Butler, President, Transition Entertainment. “Our partnership with Film Roman comes at a perfect time as the digital platform continues to rapidly grow and the demand for new entertainment increases.”

Butler has recently completed producing and writing duties on the half-hour comedy pilot "Waffle Hut" (Transition Entertainment) and is currently producing/directing the fourth season of Disney’s "Game On." Butler previously wrote and directed the horror-thriller Madhouse (Lionsgate/Lakeshore) and thriller Furnace (Melee Entertainment/Genius).

Transition Entertainment has also written and produced several live theater shows in Los Angeles, including the improv comedy "The Chuck Rivers Show," a satirical send-up of a 1970's style talk show featuring a rotating cast of comedy veterans including Laird Macintosh (The Groundlings Theatre & School), Frank Caeti (“MADtv”), Ryan Gaul (“House of Lies”), Sam Pancake (“Lovespring International”), Jordan Black (“Community”), Julie Brown (“Melissa and Joey”), and Maile Flanagan (“Lab Rats”). “The Chuck Rivers Show” was recently selected to The Groundlings 40th Anniversary Show lineup in May 2014.

It's uncertain if any of the above will lead to quality horror projects, but knowing Bill, we wouldn't doubt it at all. Stay tuned.
