Before she passed on at an all too young age, Brittany Murphy was carving herself quite the niche in the horror community. A trailer has finally arrived for her final film, Something Wicked, and we have it for you right here.

The long-awaited final film of the late actress Brittany Murphy will hit theaters beginning April 4, 2014. Something Wicked has been rated R and will debut in the Regal Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon (Valley River Center Stadium 15) on April 4 with more than 20 additional regional Regal Cinema theaters to follow weekly. A nationwide expansion will occur shortly after.

The hauntingly seductive thriller about obsession and young love gone wrong stars Shantel VanSanten (Gang Related, “One Tree Hill,” Final Destination), John Robinson (upcoming Peter Bogdanovich movie Big Sur, Lords of Dogtown), Julian Morris (“Once Upon a Time,” “Pretty Little Liars,” Valkyrie), James Patrick Stuart (“Supernatural,” “Hot in Cleveland”) and Brittany Murphy (8 Mile, Uptown Girls, Clueless).

Something Wicked is debuting in Eugene to honor the location where it was filmed. On April 11, Something Wicked will expand to 5 Regal theaters in Portland, with 7 theaters in Seattle the subsequent week. It will also open the University of Oregon’s Cinema Pacific Festival in Eugene and Portland, Oregon on April 23.

Something Wicked is a Merchant Films production, directed by Darin Scott, written and produced by Joe Colleran. Merchant Films Releasing is distributing the film.

Anytime someone presents a video of a "ghost" haunting caught on camera, it immediately gets our attention. Case in point: this pretty compelling tidbit which hit the Internet recently.

According to The Huffington Post a general store in Gilford, N.H., is scaring up a lot of attention after releasing a spooky surveillance video. The March 10 video shows a glass top to a cake display mysteriously thrown from the counter of the Ellacoya Country Store when no one is in the room.

"I heard this big bang," said employee Heidi Boyd, who was in a nearby room when the case smashed. "I walked around and looked and [it] was on the floor. It took several minutes to set in [and it's] still freaking me out," she told WMUR-TV.

The shop's manager, Lisa Giles, told The Huffington Post that Boyd texted her "in a frantic" mood.

"It didn't make sense to her," Giles said. "However, anyone who's been here a substantial amount of time has seen something. When we first opened the place, we saw the ghost of a man standing in the doorway."

The early word on VANish and a trio of stills that feature co-stars Tony Todd, Danny Trejo, and Maiara Walsh landed in our inbox, and given filmmaker Bryan Bockbrader's promise "there's no escaping the chaos," of course we had to share.

Maiara Walsh ("Desperate Housewives,""Switched at Birth"), who is starring in the upcoming Summer Camp by the [REC] filmmakers, has strapped in with iconic actors Tony Todd (Candyman/Final Destination) and Danny Trejo (Machete/Con Air) in the high-octane action/horror thriller VANish.

VANish is helmed by first-time writer/director Bryan Bockbrader, who also appears in the film. Rounding out the cast are newcomers Austin Abke and Adam Guthrie in pivotal roles.

VANish is about a kidnapped woman forced on a road trip full of murder and mayhem which takes place entirely inside her captor's getaway van.

Writer/director Bockbrader explains his unique premise: "I had this idea of doing a road movie from the perspective of inside the vehicle, giving the viewer a chance to ride along as a passenger. As the tension builds, we are trapped in this intimate place with extremely dangerous people, and when the shit hits the fan (or van), there's no escaping the chaos."

VANish is produced by Grizly Films, a new production company that has a focus on the action/horror genre. The film has wrapped production, and more updates will be coming soon.

I’m fairly certain nobody besides writer-director David DeCoteau ever even conceived of such a strange pairing.

We all know who Bigfoot is, but D.B. Cooper might be a mystery to some of you. An enduring mystery is exactly what the story of D.B. Cooper continues to be today.

A man using the alias “D.B. Cooper” skyjacked a 727 passenger plane over the Pacific Northwest with a suitcase bomb, demanding a ransom of $200,000. Once back in the air with his money, Cooper escaped by performing the nearly impossible feat of skydiving out of jumbo jet. That he was never seen nor heard from ever again and virtually no evidence has ever been found as to his whereabouts is what has made the story of D.B. Cooper a piece of modern folklore in addition to being one of the great unsolved mysteries of modern time.

On June 10th, David DeCoteau’s Rapid Heart Productions presents a crazy theory as to what truly happened to D.B. Cooper. The answer involves the Pacific Northwest’s other great enduring legend: Bigfoot.

The trailer for Bigfoot vs. D.B. Cooper is a dizzying array of random shots of shirtless dudes with very modern beach bods, blurry Bigfoot action, and stock footage of planes. Not seen in the trailer are top-billed stars Eric Roberts and Linnea Quigley, or anything that looks accurate to 1971 for that matter. Well, maybe the Bigfoot suit. Yeah, the Bigfoot costume would fit in well in a 1971 production.

We have a few more weeks to wait until "Penny Dreadful" debuts on Showtime, and a new production blog has arrived to help fill the time! Author/historian Matthew Sweet takes Reeve Carney (Dorian Gray) on a tour of London to learn about the role of prostitution and sex in the Victorian age.

"Penny Dreadful" is set to premiere on Showtime on Sunday, May 11th, at 10PM ET/PT.

Writer/director Barry Morgan’s (Arcana) new short horror film The Infected wrapped principal photography in Los Angeles last week and stars Filipino American actress Helenna Santos (American Reunion, Black Box TV), who also produced the film with Morgan.

While The Infected fits squarely in the horror genre, it has one important difference: The lead character is a visible minority. As Morgan states: “We never even thought about the fact that Helenna is a visible minority. It was only after we wrapped and started discussing our plans for the project that we realized how much of an anomaly it is to have a lead actress who isn’t Caucasian in a North American made horror film."

Santos added: “The entertainment industry has a long way to go in properly representing our cultural landscape. It’s really shocking to me that in the horror genre we could only think of a handful of women who play the lead role and are visible minorities. I'm Filipino/Russian/German and often get shoved into the 'other' category when it comes to casting. I was very excited about producing and acting in this project from the beginning, but even more so now that we are able to shed light on the fact that visible minorities can be more than just a stereotype or a supporting character.”

The Infected also stars Jerod Meagher (ABCs of Death 2, Guys Reading Poems), Austin Hillebrecht (Grimm, Arcana), and Melissa Katzin (The Forgotten) and is now in development as a feature film based on the short.

Synopsis
Four friends meet to celebrate their college graduation when a dirty bomb containing a highly contagious and lethal virus explodes in Los Angeles. After its world premiere at SXSW last month, Nacho Vigalondo's Open Windows has just been picked up for distribution here in the States, courtesy of Cinedigm. Read on for release details!

Deadline reports that Cinedigm has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the Timecrimes director's first English-language film, and they're planning a release in either late summer or early fall of this year.

Synopsis
Elijah Wood stars as a fanboy of actress Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey), and as the winner of an online contest, he gets the rare chance to have dinner with her. However, when dinner plans are cancelled, someone named Chord says he can make up for it.

Chord gives Nick (Elijah Wood) the tools to spy on Jill from his computer in a way that no fan could ever dream of. After each demand Chord gives Nick, it becomes apparent that Chord set the whole thing up and Nick is part of a much bigger, more sinister plan.

Is the ability to channel the spirits of the dead a legit talent, or are those who claim they can simply suffering from a mental illness? That's the question that lies at the heart of the upcoming film The Messenger, and we've got all the details for ya today. Dig in!

Screen Daily reports that David Blair (Best Laid Plans) will direct the film, which is set to begin its UK shoot in the summer of this year. Casting is currently under way on the project, which is a joint venture among Gateway Films, Ratio:Film, and NoW Films.

Written by Andrew Kirk and developed by Michael Knowles, the film centers on Jack, a young man who has been in and out of secure units all his life, given drugs to try and shut out his visions of the dead. He becomes unwillingly embroiled in the unfinished business of Mark, a journalist brutally murdered in the local park, and his television presenter wife, Sarah, to whom he’s desperate to say one last goodbye.

Jack finds himself getting closer to Sarah, obsessed with passing on Mark’s message. Discovering hidden secrets and lies finally pushes the fragile Jack over the edge, but there is hope when his estranged sister, Emma, gets in touch. Jack starts to remember the past they shared together, and as the memories come flooding back, he starts to confront the truth about the death of his father.

"The script has the same sensibility as The Sixth Sense," says Ratio:Film's Richard Turner. "It confronts the question of whether those who see dead people are disturbed, are frauds or visionaries. The film will remain ambiguous in respect of the existence or otherwise of an after-life, but the storytelling will allow the audience to decide themselves as to the integrity of Jack."

April Fools' Day is always entertaining here on the internet. Pretty much everyone gets in on the fun by concocting their own faux news stories. One of the best we've seen so far today comes courtesy of UK firm Fetch Publicity, who announced the impending arrival of the world's first Catfurnado!

An obvious spoof of Syfy's Sharknado, Catfurnado imagines what would happen if a tornado of cats swept through London as global warming creates a vortex of furry vengeance. It’s unstoppable, reads the tagline; it’s pussy at one hundred miles per hour!

Check out the hilarious piece of poster art for the faux film below, which was inspired by an actual news story that came out of England earlier this year, where a mini-tornado lifted cats into the air. Proof that sometimes the truth is indeed stranger than fiction!

We've gotta admit... we'd pay good money to see this movie if it were the real deal. Wouldn't you?!

We cannot wait to sink our teeth into the carnage of Wolf Creek 2 Stateside and join the evil Mick Taylor on his road to absolute and total carnage. To help us get there Yahoo! landed the first trailer. Check it out!

Image Entertainment will be giving Wolf Creek 2 a VOD release on April 17th with a theatrical run set for May 16th.

There's no doubt about it... 1996's Alien: Resurrection was a really, really weird movie. It has both its fans and its detractors, and they are all pretty staunch in their camps. One thing everyone can agree on though was that studioADI's effects work was stellar.

Speaking of which, as they like to do now and again, studioADI has just released some behind-the-scenes goodies from Alien: Resurrection which explore the many twisted clones of lead character Ripley (Sigourney Weaver).

We've seen a few stills already from NBC's reimagined "Rosemary's Baby," and now it's time for a quick peek behind the scenes with stars Zoe Saldana (Rosemary) and Patrick J. Adams (Guy) plus director Agnieszka Holland.

This new adaptation of “Rosemary’s Baby” centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind.

After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse – an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.

Rosemary (Zoe Saldana; Avatar, Star Trek Into Darkness) and Guy (Patrick J. Adams; “Suits”) are incredulous at their good fortune and find comfort in a strange city among their new friends and neighbors, the Castevets. This well-to-do successful older couple takes the newcomers under their wing and become very involved with the Woodhouses’ lives. Things seem to be perfect as Rosemary becomes pregnant and Guy’s career takes off. As their spirited best friend, Guy’s co-worker Julie (Christina Cole), spends quality time with Rosemary in the city, she finds Rosemary’s health worrying and cautions both of them that something isn’t right. Soon there are other signs warning Rosemary to be careful.

Guy seems to be pulling away from Rosemary and spending a great deal of time hanging around with Roman Castevet (Jason Isaacs; Harry Potter franchise). Roman’s wife, the whimsical Margaux Castevet (Carole Bouquet; For Your Eyes Only), assures Rosemary her herbs and holistic medicine will help with the pregnancy, but are they helping or hurting? Rosemary’s quizzical nature leads her to investigate the building and its past residents. She uncovers a dark past and realizes who Roman Castevet truly is. But is it too late? Are the Castavets’ perceived sinister motives legitimate or all in the pregnancy brain of Rosemary?

In this new four-hour, two-part psychological thriller written by Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) and James Wong (Final Destination 3, “American Horror Story,” “The X-Files”) and directed by Agnieszka Holland (Europa Europa, “The Wire,” “Treme”), Rosemary quickly finds herself surrounded by peculiar people and startling occurrences. Isolated in her apartment in a city where she doesn’t speak the language, she begins to fear the worst: Guy may have made a pact with their neighbors, promising their newborn as a human sacrifice in occult rituals in exchange for a writing career. To what lengths would someone be willing to go for success and fortune?
