Contracted Sequel on its Way from Eric England

Contracted Sequel on its Way from Eric EnglandEric England's Contracted (review) hit like a mighty punch to the jaw to the horror genre, and lord knows we were desperately in need of a good jolt. Now, like any good swing for the fences, a sequel is on its way as a means to recapture the agony and arterial spray!

"IFC has asked us for a sequel," said filmmaker England to FEARnet. "I told the producers I wasn't interested because I never envisioned a sequel in the first place but [said] if I came up with an idea that I felt lived up to or surpassed the first film and [that I] was passionate about, I would."

"It took about a month or so of convincing, but I finally turned in a pitch after an idea came to me. Now, it's just up to the business side of things - if it makes sense for them and for us."

England also added that Contracted: Phase II, as it's now known, "will pick up where the first one left off."

Original Synopsis:
Contracted tells the terrifying tale of a young girl who has a one-night stand with a stranger, contracting what she thinks is a sexually transmitted disease, but it is actually something far worse. As things begin to crumble around her, she's sent on a disturbing and bloodcurdling journey, sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Genre Stars Head to Paranormal IslandThus far we've seen Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Entity, Paranormal Xperiment, and everything else you could think of. Next up is Paranormal Island, which would make a bitchin' show should it be hosted by the lingering specters of Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize!

We can dream, huh?

VMI Worldwide is heading to Cannes with Marty Murray's new flick Paranormal Island, starring Ben Elliott, Briana Evigan, Lance Henriksen, Randy Wayne, and Sarah Karges.

Synopsis
When three college kids take a summer job, it’s a chance of a lifetime to bartend at a bar in the middle of a lake. The bar has been around for over a hundred years and is presumed by many locals to be haunted after the owner killed himself many years before. Unfortunately, they miss the last boat off the island and are stuck trying to find a way off. As darkness falls, they quickly realize things are very different after hours as they are hunted by the paranormal caretaker.

"The Vampire Diaries" Episode 5.19 - "Man on Fire" (airs 4/24/14, 8-9pm)
FLASHBACK TO THE 1960s — Stefan (Paul Wesley) tries to distract Elena (Nina Dobrev) from obsessing about the state of her relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Meanwhile Bonnie (Kat Graham) does her best to be realistic about how the changes happening on the Other Side will affect her existence as the Anchor.

Damon demands the Traveler knife, forcing Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig) to admit it has gone missing.

Through flashbacks to election night 1960, Enzo (guest star Michael Malarkey) reveals to Elena, Stefan, and Bonnie that he has learned what happened to his long-lost love, Maggie (guest star Heather Hemmens); and then, with the unwilling help of Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (guest star Chris Brochu), things take an ugly turn. Trying to calm Enzo down, Damon intervenes, but his words cause Enzo to make a desperate and dangerous decision that leads to a violent confrontation with Stefan.

Finally, Markos (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) enlists Sloan’s (guest star Caitlin McHugh) help in a ritual designed to break an ancient curse against the Travelers. Tyler (Michael Trevino) is forced to play a dangerous part in the ritual while witnessing the incredible power the Travelers now possess.

Ms. Vampy and Doctor Gash Offer Some Tips for Good Living on Good Friday

0
0

Ms. Vampy and Doctor Gash Offer Some Tips for Good Living on Good FridayYour favorite messengers of madness and mayhem are back for another round of holiday tips. That's right; yours truly, Doctor Gash, and Brooke Lewis (aka Ms. Vampy) have once again collaborated and come up with some ideas to help you get the most out of your Good Friday.

Now, you may say that the only good Friday is one that has "the 13th" after it, but read on to see what DC's favorite dysfunctional duo have come up with for this holiday season. Sure, anybody can write some Easter drivel, but Fridays always seem to have so much more potential for a raucous good time than Sundays do.

So let's dig right in, Dreadies!

Ms. Vampy says: "FEEL" WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO
I always say, "Don’t think it, feel it!" So only do the things you feel you want to do on this Good Friday and Easter weekend - like Jesus did! We are all bogged down with daily pressures and obligations during the week with work and priorities. Release the thoughts in your mind of what you "should" do this weekend and only do the things your heart tells you to do! Good Friday will turn into a good weekend.

Gash says: I couldn't agree more. I'm a big proponent of doing just the stuff you want to do, and why not?! Who the hell wants to get bogged down with all sorts of tedious and monotonous crap? Pffft! And who better to use for an example of someone who always did his own thing than F.W. Colqhoun (a.k.a. Colonel Ives) in the beloved film Ravenous? Of course when Colqhoun/Ives would do his own thing, it wasn't like sleeping in late or curling up on the couch with a blanket and a tub of ice cream to watch a movie on the Lifetime Channel. Ives' thing was cannibalism… and empowering his body and spirit through the ingestion of human flesh. So when you feel bad about hitting that snooze alarm one more time or pounding down an entire pint of Ben and Jerry's, don't. At least you're not eating your neighbor!

Ms. Vampy says: CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO DO ONE THING YOU HAVE WANTED TO DO FOR A LONG TIME
Whether you choose to skydive, get a tattoo, ask that cute guy or girl for a date, or clean out your closets, be like Nike and "Just Do It!!!" Challenging yourself leads to feeling productive and a sense of accomplishment. When Monday comes, you will be happy that you took this challenge on Good Friday!

Gash: Another winner from Ms. Vampy! I always try to find little challenges to keep me motivated day to day. And through challenging yourself, you better yourself with a heightened sense of self-esteem or a drive to improve. A perfect example is our friend Martin from The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence). Being inspired after watching The Human Centipede (First Sequence), Martin decided to build his own human 'pede. Unfortunately he had no surgical skills or tools (and even Dr. Heiter who had both ended up with quite the mess on his hands). But that did not deter Martin at all. He went right at his task with a staple gun and some good ol' stick-to-itiveness, and I'll be damned if he didn't create… well… something. It was kind of a human centipede and also kinda like a lopsided diarrhea machine, but hey, the guy gave it a shot and did his best. Kudos, Martin!

Ms. Vampy says: TAKE SOME "ME" TIME
We are all super "busy" these days, and it is easy to go-go-go without a break. The thing that will really turn Good Friday into a great Friday, Saturday, Sunday is to take a break for a bit of downtime or "me" time! This is different for everyone so find what works to give you a break and peace of mind! Whether it involves an hour at the gym or taking a long drive or renting a movie, turn off that phone, stop Tweeting, and be silent for a while. This will help you relax and quiet your mind.

Gash: Ah, to have a quiet mind… I can't even imagine it. But yes, the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of quiet thoughts can be oh, so soothing. And Mr. Vampy speaks the truth, as a few minutes of peace and quiet and time to reset can make all the difference in the world. One perfect example that comes immediately to mind is Chris Cleek. You might know him better simply as the father in The Woman (played by Sean Bridgers in Lucky McKee's film based on the Jack Ketchum novel). Mr. Cleek always took time out for himself. He enjoyed barbecuing and the outdoors, hunting especially. Of course, once he stumbles upon a feral woman in the woods, his hobbies change quite a bit. Now Mr. Cleek's "me" time is spent trying to civilize this unfortunate creature (amongst other less noble things he does to her). Unfortunately for him, this turns out to be a rather poor choice for a hobby as the woman is not on board with any of this treatment. And once she gets her opportunity to get back at Mr. Cleek… well, let's just say he should have stuck to barbecuing and hunting.

Ms. Vampy says: SPEND TIME WITH THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE
Now, this should happen every weekend, not just at Good Friday and Easter! This world is a crazy place, and there is nothing better than surrounding yourself with the ones you love. Make a plan to schedule time with the people who make you happy and feel good about yourself. Let the people in your life know how much you love them. Remember, life is short, and all we really need is LOVE!

Gash: I'm on board with any piece of advice that ends with a Beatles quote. We here at Dread Central are all about spending time with loved ones. Because when all is said and done and the zombies finally come shuffling up to your door, who else do you really have? And horror is filled with examples of this: Frankenstein and his bride, Mickey and Mallory Knox, Chucky and Tiff, The Firefly Clan… But truly, a family that eats together stays together, and our favorite band of Texas cannibals, the Sawyer family, proved that in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sure, Drayton Sawyer might have been a little tough on his boys, but they weren't the easiest guys to deal with. You know how family can be. But at the end of the day, they always made time to gather around the table with grandpa and enjoy a nice family dinner. It's got to bring a smile to your face and a tear of happiness to your eye.

IDW and George Lopez Developing Ben Templesmith's Wormwood as an Animated SeriesRecently launched IDW Entertainment, along with George Lopez and his Travieso Production Company, has announced the development of "Wormwood," an animated television series based on the acclaimed IDW comics created by artist Ben Templesmith.

David M. Stern ("Ugly Americans,""The Simpsons") has been tapped to write the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer on the series. Circle of Confusion ("The Walking Dead") will also executive produce.

IDW Entertainment will fund development of the series, which will soon be marketed to the networks.

"Wormwood" follows the paranormal and obscene adventures of an inter-dimensional worm with the ability to animate corpses as host bodies. "Wormwood" blends horror and humor, crafting a dark tale perfectly suited for the world of animation.

“We have assembled an incredible creative team with David M. Stern, George Lopez, and Circle of Confusion, which will help bring 'Wormwood' to life as a fun animated television series,” said David Ozer, President of IDW Entertainment.

“George Lopez is a comic genius, and Ben’s graphic novels are epic horror comedy. Building this universe is going to be like a dream. Or maybe more like a super fun nightmare,” said David M Stern.

“It’s not often I can produce a series about an inter-dimensional worm. I am thrilled to be working with such a great creative team on this clever combination of comedy and horror,” said George Lopez.

Executive producing the series with David M. Stern are Ted Adams and David Ozer from IDW Entertainment, George Lopez and Leslie Kolins Small from Travieso, and David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion. Ben Templesmith will serve as creative consultant.

New Alien: Isolation Video Brings Out the Lo-Fi Sci-Fi

New Alien: Isolation Video Brings Out the Lo-Fi Sci-FiWe've been monitoring the progress of Alien: Isolation carefully and trying to keep our heads after the debacle of Aliens: Colonial Marines, but it's getting really hard to not get excited. Next up for you guys is a new developer diary. Dig it!

This isn’t a world of holograms and touchscreens; there’s no sense here that technology is going to save you.”– Alistair Hope, Creative Lead.

To stay faithful to the original source, Alien: Isolation takes a retro look to the future with a design aesthetic which developer Creative Assembly describes as "lo-fi sci-fi." It’s clunky, it’s chunky, it’s push-button and analog. There are no phasers or lasers, and the smartest weapons you find may be tied together with duct tape and string. A world very much of CRT not LCD, Alien: Isolation may be set in the future, but it’s very much baked in the past.

Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game capturing the fear and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions, and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission but to simply stay alive.

Alien: Isolation will be available from October 7, 2014, for Xbox One, PS4, Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

For more info visit the official Alien: Isolation website, "like"Alien: Isolation on Facebook, and follow Alien: Isolation on Twitter.

Scavenger Killers to Bloody Up DVD

Scavenger Killers to Bloody Up DVD"Mind-Blowing Psychopaths!" is what the artwork for Scavenger Killers promises, and given the last few weeks we've had around here, we could use a little blowing... mind or otherwise. Okay, scrape your mind up from the gutter and read on!

From the Press Release
Everyone’s heard of the “long arm of the law.” What if there was a homicidal maniac attached to it? Midnight Releasing announces the July 1st DVD, VOD, and Digital Download release of SCAVENGER KILLERS, a blood and guts contemporary tale of justice gone very, very wrong.

SCAVENGER KILLERS will be available across the US and Canada on a variety of platforms, for the ultimate convenience in viewing. DVD availability is set to include Walmart, Target, Redbox, and more. On the digital side, the film will be available on all major and minor cable VOD channels as well as major internet platforms including iTunes, Amazon Instant, Vudu, Google Play, Xbox Video, Sony Entertainment Network, and others. SRP for the DVD is $24.98.

A no-holds-barred, wickedly modern spin on the Bonnie and Clyde legend, SCAVENGER KILLERS features a stellar line-up of classic character and veteran genre actors including Eric Roberts (“In Cold Blood,” The Dark Knight), Charles Durning (The Sting, North Dallas Forty), and Robert Loggia (Scarface, Independence Day) along with a quirky appearance by Dustin Diamond (“Saved by the Bell”), among others. Directed by Dylan Blank and co-written by Kenneth Del Vecchio and Rachael Robbins, SCAVENGER KILLERS goes over the top with the voluptuous contributions of scream queens and Playboy models Rachael Robbins, Suzi Lorraine, and Angela Little.

Starring Robert Bogue (“The Following”) as charismatic and respected Judge Taylor Limone and co-starring Rachael Robbins (Bikini Bloodbath Christmas) as sultry, scheming attorney Clara Lovering, SCAVENGER KILLERS graphically portrays what can happen when the pressures of bringing the most heinous criminals to justice ferments into a darkly psychological and sexual pursuit of perverse pleasure. The sensual becomes seethingly sinister when these two citizens see to it that justice is served their way!

Bonus features on the SCAVENGER KILLERS DVD include Behind-The-Scenes, Behind-The-FX, and footage from the world premiere at the 2013 Hoboken International Film Festival.

Poveglia - The Most Haunted Place in the World FOR SALE!

Poveglia - The Most Haunted Place in the World FOR SALE! So let's say you're looking to invest in some prime real estate, but you're hesitant to drop your hard earned greenbacks on a place that you're not going to see a good return on. Well, how about a place that you can visit and possibly not return from?

What is quite possibly the most haunted place on Earth, Poveglia Island, is for sale; and you can buy it... plague pit and all.

After a pair of ships carrying plague victims arrived in 1793, the island was sealed off and turned into a quarantine zone for people with infectious diseases, a role it served for over a century. It goes without saying that many of those people died on the island during that time, leading to the widespread belief that Poveglia is haunted. It didn't help when the place was converted into a hospital for the mentally ill in 1922. Rumor has it that the hospital was home to a number of crude lobotomies, performed by a doctor who'd been driven mad by the ghosts. He later flung himself off the bell tower.

Poveglia, currently owned by the Italian government, has been abandoned for the past 50 years. Said government is now offering a 99-year lease to anyone brave enough to take it over. No price information is available yet. Stay tuned!

It's Pandemonium in this Preview of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Episode 1.07

0

It's Pandemonium in this Preview of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Episode 1.07"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" is taking next week off, which I guess means last week's episode was a sort of mid-season finale... and a good one it was! "Pandemonium" breaks out when it returns on April 29th with Episode 1.07, and here's a preview.

“From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” centers on bank robber Seth Gecko (D.J. Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Zane Holtz). The series deepens the tone of the original film, adds new characters and backstories, and expands the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.

Along with Cotrona and Holtz, the international cast includes Jesse Garcia, Eiza González, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Don Johnson, Madison Davenport, Lane Garrison, Robert Patrick, and Brandon Soo Hoo. The 10-episode, hour-long series is El Rey Network's first scripted original and has already been renewed for a second season.

No synopsis for Episode 1.07, "Pandemonium," has been released yet, but with that title - and considering where we left off this week - we're pretty sure Eiza González is going to be front and center as queen vamp Santanico Pandemonium. If you don't get El Rey Network from your cable provider, episodes are available on Amazon. I'd say it's worth it for Don Johnson's scenes alone.

For more info keep your eyes on the show's Facebook page, the official El Rey Network website, El Rey Network on Facebook, and El Rey Network on Twitter.

Denis O'Hare Will Play a Freak Collector in American Horror Story: Freak ShowPlot details are still being kept under wraps, but we know that the next season of "American Horror Story" will have a carnival theme and that several recurring cast members will return. One of those actors is "True Blood's" Denis O'Hare, who just spilled some beans about his character.

In an interview with Vulture, O'Hare confirmed that he will be appearing in all ten episodes of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" and doing battle with Jessica Lange's character. "I’m going to be working at cross-purposes with her. We’re going to be like this," he told the site, crossing his fingers.

Without giving too much away, O'Hare hinted that his character will be "a collector of freaks," rather than a freak himself.

The other cast members announced thus far include Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Jamie Brewer, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy. Michael Chiklis is also on board, playing the father of Evan Peters' character and Kathy Bates' ex-husband.
