Two brothers calmly record their gruesome crimes in the buzzed-about horror document INFLICTION, which takes the found-footage genre to the next unbearable level. The deeply unsettling shocker will have home viewers double-locking their doors when it arrives on DVD and VOD on July 1, 2014, from Virgil Films.

Writer-director Jack Thomas Smith put himself on the horror movie map in 2006 with the cult psychological thriller Disorder. Now, with INFLICTION, he upends conventions and expectations to deliver a stunning and utterly surprising thriller that has already developed strong word-of-mouth based on its select theatrical screenings, including at New York City's venerable Anthology Film Archives.

With INFLICTION, Smith assembled footage taken from the cameras used by two psychotic brothers, who documented a murder spree in North Carolina in 2011. Unlike its predecessors The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, which relied on sparse visual evidence of supernatural activity, INFLICTION reveals in shiver-inducing detail the brothers' hideous actions and what led them to commit their crimes. It shows the effects of people's actions (or inactions) and their effect on others' lives, presenting in cold reality a hard look at the blurred line between society's criminals and its victims.

The film screened at the 2013 Buffalo Niagara Film Festival, where Smith won the award for Best Story in a Feature.

"Working on INFLICTION left me troubled and haunted," the filmmaker said. "It left me thinking about people's actions or lack thereof and the inevitable domino effect. We all walk our own path in life, which shapes and defines us. What happens to us today, good or bad, will affect generations to come."

Smith is currently working on his next thriller, In the Dark.

In case today's earlier news that Jeremy Sisto has joined A&E's "The Returned" wasn't enough for you, we have info on three more actors who've signed on as well, including who the female lead will be!

Per Deadline, Winstead (pictured) will portray Rowan, the girlfriend of late musician Simon (Mat Vairo), who had a very difficult time getting past his death 10 years ago and now will have to adjust to his return.

Also cast in Carlton Cuse’s 10-episode adaptation of the acclaimed French series "Les Revenants" are Sandrine Holt ("House of Cards") and Agnes Bruckner (The Woods, "24"). Holt plays Julie, a competent, compassionate doctor who is struggling in her personal life, while Bruckner plays the sheriff’s chief deputy.

Along with Sisto and Vairo, previously announced were Kevin Alejandro, Mark Pellegrino, and Sophie Lowe. Keith Gordon ("Dexter") will direct.

"The Returned," from A&E Studios and FremantleMedia North America, focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences.

Max Martini (Captain Phillips, Saving Private Ryan, Sabotage, Pacific Rim) has faced all sorts of foes in his career and now he's gearing up to take on the other side in Legendary Pictures' new horror flick Spectral. Read on for details.

He joins the previously announced James Badge Dale. The flick is being directed by Nic Matthieu.

The premise of the project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic, and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural.

Sources say the pitch, which sold for six figures, has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan. Locations and details might change over the course of the writing, however.

Synopsis

As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Late breaking news of the most devilish kind! Deadline is reporting that Adam Green ("Holliston," Hatchet, Frozen, Spiral) has signed on to helm Exorcism on Crooked Lake for Revolver Picture Company. Read on for details.

The film, Green’s next feature following the upcoming metafictional Digging Up The Marrow, follows a middle-aged priest, a younger priest and a female medical student who head to a remote house to exorcise a young pregnant woman only to find themselves under siege from a Satanic cult looking to claim the child.

The script is by Stacy Chbosky and John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle (Quarantine, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, The Coup). Revolver is fully financing Exorcism on Crooked Lake, with the company’s Nick Phillips and Kelly Martin Wagner producing alongside Sarah Shepard and Ben Browning (Inquest). The Dowdle brothers are exec producing.

Filming begins this fall.

Unless they go really dark and focus a lot more on the beast than the beauty, our coverage of Disney's live action version of the popular fairy tale Beauty and the Beast will no doubt be sparse, but in light of the film's director, we figured we'd at least make you aware of it.

Per Variety, Bill Condon, who knows a thing or two about blockbusters, having helmed The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Parts 1 and 2, has been set to direct a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos with Mandeville Films producing.

With Maleficent's recent $170 million (worldwide) opening weekend, you can bet Disney is hoping for more of the same. Beauty and the Beast has a strong track record already: The studio’s 1991 animated feature version grossed more than $375 million worldwide, spawned a Broadway play, and became one of the few animated films to receive a best picture Oscar nomination.

Given the success of the play, one wonders if Spiliotopoulos, Condon, et all will go in the direction of a musical. Aside from the Twi-Hards, Condon is best known for his adaptation of Dreamgirls so with his experience things could really go either way.

We'll keep our eyes open for some interesting casting news along the lines of Angelina Jolie's memorable turn as the aforementioned Maleficent and more pertinent details, if any.

All the familiar "Teen Wolf" tropes - Scott being emo, Lydia being prophetic, Peter being a dick, homo-eroticism, and the worst parenting on the planet - are accounted for in this extended trailer for Season 4... along with a look at the show's new Big Bad!

Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, and Holland Roden star along with new regulars Arden Cho, Shelley Hennig, and Ryan Kelley as Deputy Parrish. Season 4 also sees the return of Jill Wagner as Kate Argent and Ian Bohen as Peter Hale.

The new season kicks off Monday, June 23rd, at 10PM on MTV.

"Teen Wolf" Season 4 Overview:

"Salem" Episode 1.08 - "Departures" (airs 6/8/14)
Increase Mather (guest star Stephen Lang) makes it his first order of business to catch a real witch, and starts by pinpointing a prominent figure from Salem's most sinful district. Mary worries that Increase will detect that his old friend George is under a spell and enlists the help of Isaac to deter Increase from uncovering the truth.

Meanwhile, accusations within Salem intensify, and Cotton must deal with a painful turn of events – and Anne’s suspicions of her father reach a fever pitch.

In addition to Lang, guest starring are Christopher Berry (“Resurrection”) as Petrus and Morgana Shaw as Mab. "Departures" was written by Jon Feldman and directed by Alexander Zakrzewski.

Ruthless Pictures has picked up North American rights to the psychological thriller Phobia, written by Matthew Barnes and Rory Abel, produced by Elias (Gut) and Mike Aransky (London Betty), and directed by Rory Abel.

The film follows an agoraphobic man trapped in his own home and plagued by a malevolent spirit.

"We wanted to take the traditional haunted house scenario and approach it from a different perspective," said director Abel.

Ruthless Pictures CEO Jesse Baget commented on the acquisition, “Rory and his team made a gripping psychological thriller that had me at the edge of my seat. I’m excited to be a part of the project.”

"We're thrilled to be working with Ruthless Pictures on the release for Phobia," producer Elias added. "Working with a tested, genre filmmaker like Jesse on distribution is exactly the kind of partnership we were looking for."

Leading the cast are Michael Jefferson (Sheer), Emma Dubery (Plague Town), Sarah Schoofs (Gut), Peter Gregus (The Producers), with a special appearance by scream queen Debbie Rochon.

Ruthless Pictures is also in post production on Damien Leone’s creature-clash Frankenstein vs. the Mummy and the alien abduction thriller The Device, directed by Jeremy Berg (The Invoking).
