Upcoming Short Invites You to the Lamb FeedA brutal assault on the senses is what's promised from the upcoming short film Lamb Feed, which sounds pretty damn good to us right about now. Read on for all the details and to gaze those peepers on some gruesome promo art!

From the Press Release
The creative mind that brought you the 2013 film festival hit Night of the Sea Monkey: A Disturbing Tale is at it again. Writer/director Michael S. Rodriguez is cooking up something special for the hardcore horror fans this year with LAMB FEED.

The film follows over-confident businessman Mitchell Barnes (Luke Church) as he seeks assistance after a blowout in a quaint sleepy town. Instead of help from the townspeople, he gets an invite to the darkest corner of his own fears... an invite to their annual LAMB FEED.

Promising to be a total assault on the senses, LAMB FEED also boasts a wonderfully diverse cast of up-and-coming actors as well as familiar faces to the genre such as Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses), scream queen Melanie Robel, actor/radio personality Scott (Gruesome Hertzogg) Geiter, and 60’s film icon Arch Hall, Jr., making his comeback to cinema after five decades. Plus much more! LAMB FEED is currently in production and is looking for an early fall limited release. So look for this short to hit a film festival near you in the fall of 2014 and throughout 2015.

The short also stars Luke Church, Michael Wainwright, Meghan Chadeayne, Tyler Gallant, and Kaci Hansen.

Short Film SCUM is Comprised of Dialogue from Real-Life Serial Killers; Watch Now!Zach Shildwachter is a guy who has paid his dues in the film business, over the years amassing nearly 30 credits as both a production assistant and second unit director. After working on I Sell the Dead and "Fringe," to name just a couple of his credits...

Zach is now devoting his time to movies of his own, making his directorial debut with last year's short Thrill Kill.

The young filmmaker's latest short, SCUM, a project that he both wrote and directed, has just been made available for free viewing. The 12-minute film is a sort of retro-inspired mix of Falling Down and Maniac, with the most interesting aspect being the fact that the voice-over dialogue is comprised entirely of real quotes from actual serial killers.

Starring Josh Miller, SCUM explores the horrifying capabilities of a man pushed too far, brutally exposing how close we all are to becoming monsters in the blink of an eye.

Check out the short below, which contains explicit language, graphic violence, drug use, and sexual situations - just in case you weren't already sold!

Big Casting Update for NBC's Aquarius Including Who'll Be Playing Charles Manson

    0
    0

Gethin Anthony - Big Casting Update for NBC's Aquarius Including Who'll Be Playing Charles MansonOne new series we're really looking forward to is NBC's "Aquarius," starring David Duchovny, and if you are, too, here's a juicy casting update for the show, including who'll be portraying the infamous leader of the Manson family.

Per TVLine, Gethin Anthony (pictured; best known as Renly Baratheon in "Game of Thrones"), Grey Damon ("Friday Night Lights,"Oldboy), and Emma Dumont ("Bunheads") have all signed on for the 13-episode "event" series, which stars Duchovny as a cop who goes undercover to track Manson and his brood.

Anthony will portray Manson, described here as the “archetypal authentic hippie freak” whose intense charisma draws young followers to him in droves. A jailbird who has spent half his life in prison, Manson dominates his young female followers through a combination of sex, drugs, and a paternalistic and caring attitude that masks his inner evil. A dark, seductive force of nature, he recruits young Emma Karn (Dumont) to his ranks — but his interest in her may be far beyond the merely sexual. In fact, he may have embroiled her father in a far-reaching conspiracy.

Damon, meanwhile, will co-star as Hodiak’s (Duchovny) new partner — and the two are well matched in their maverick methods and savvy instincts. He helps Hodiak trace the missing Emma Karn, going undercover himself to learn more about Manson.

    Synopsis
It’s 1967, and the era of free love, drug experimentation, and the Vietnam War is in full effect. When the teenage daughter of a respected lawyer goes missing, L.A. Police Sgt. Sam Hodiak (David Duchovny; “Californication,” “The X-Files”) starts asking around. He soon discovers that the hippie kids he’s questioning don’t take kindly to cops, especially one with hair as short as his. Needing the help of someone they will trust, he partners with rebellious undercover cop Brian Shafe, a man who’s more comfortable rolling a joint than patrolling a beat.

It’s not long before they stumble upon a small-time cult leader seeking out vulnerable women to join his cause. From there, they follow this man’s trail down a rabbit hole of drugs, sex, murder, and cultural revolution. Little could they know, however, the guy they’re hunting will eventually become the killer we now recognize as Charles Manson. He was a lost soul who desperately wanted to get into the music scene of the ’60s until something snapped. This is the show that will explore the cat and mouse game between him and the police that will go on for several seasons, ultimately ending with the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders.

Writer John McNamara (“In Plain Sight”) serves as executive producer with Marty Adelstein (“Prison Break”), David Duchovny, and Melanie Greene. “Aquarius” is a production of ITV Studios America and Marty Adelstein Productions.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Bringing All-Time Worst TV Show Manimal to the Big Screen

    0
    0

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Bringing All-Time Worst TV Show Manimal to the Big ScreenIt only ran on NBC for 8 episodes back in 1983. Its legacy is that of one of the worst television shows of all time, a title spoken about only as a punchline. Now Anchorman creators Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will bring “Manimal” to the big screen. We truly live in strange times.

    Original Synopsis:
Dr Jonathan Chase... wealthy, young, handsome. A man with the brightest of futures. A man with the darkest of pasts.

From Africa's deepest recesses to the rarefied peaks of Tibet, heir to his father's legacy and the world's darkest mysteries. Jonathan Chase, master of the secrets that divide man from animal, animal from man... Manimal!

“Manimal” is one of those TV show ideas that probably sounded good on paper. A dashing, aristocratic British adventurer raised in Africa (played by Simon MacCorkindale, "Falcon Crest") gains the power to transform into any animal of his choosing (though for whatever reason he only ever seemed to turn into a black panther or a falcon). Now paired with a plucky, sexy policewoman, together they fight crime.

“Manimal” was so notoriously awful TV Guide listed it #15 on their list of the 50 worst TV shows of all time. It was so bad David Letterman used to mercilessly poke fun at it on late night show. It was so terrible that it’s actually developed a small cult following for being so appallingly bad. Seriously, go find an episode on YouTube and see how long you last. “Manimal” really lives up to its terrible legacy. If not for having a title as gimmicky as Sharknado, odds are it wouldn’t have gone on to be mostly memorable as a punchline.

Between this and Land of the Lost, it has become apparent that Will Farrell has a major soft spot for goofy TV shows of the Seventies and Eighties. Deadline broke the news that Sony Pictures Animation has set Jimmy Miller’s Mosaic and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions, along with original “Manimal” co-creator Glen A. Larson, to bring the short-lived series back to life as a high concept, fx-filled, big screen action-comedy. “Key & Peele” executive producers Jay Martel and Ian Roberts will write the script.

Whether this movie will ever happen remains to be seen. I seriously have my doubts. Big screen versions of “The Greatest American Hero” and “The Fall Guy” have been languishing in development hell for ages. Either way we’re now one step closer to seeing the feature film resurrections of “Automan,” “Street Hawk,” “Misfits of Science,” and “The 100 Lives of Blackjack Savage.” Be afraid. Be very afraid.

#SDCC14: San Diego Gets a Goosebumps MakeoverThe 2014 San Diego Comic-Con hasn't even begun yet, but that's not stopping the news breaking. Three new stills from the feature film adaptation of R.L. Stine's mega-successful Goosebumps series have arrived along with an official plot crunch. Read on!

Jack Black, Ken Marino, Amy Ryan, Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee, Halston Sage, Timothy Simons, Amanda Lund, and Dylan Minnette star.

In the film, directed by Rob Letterman, Black portrays famed children's horror writer R.L. Stine, whose monsters, it turns out, are actually real. When they escape from his books and attack an unsuspecting town, it's up to Stine and two teens to get the monsters back into their stories.

    Synopsis
Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

The Gasp Menagerie: Ancient Alien Overlords Depicted in Indian Rock Paintings

The Gasp Menagerie: Ancient Alien Overlords Depicted in Indian Rock PaintingsAncient aliens visiting earth, guiding early man. In the 70's, with the popularity of Erich von Däniken's book and Harald Reinl's film Chariot of the Gods, they were a hot topic. The Nazca Lines, Pyramids of Giza, and other wonders suggest the use of technology unavailable to people of the period.

This, and the scattered ancient artwork on several continents that suggests flying machines and men in spacesuits, drove a paranormal fad into a pop culture phenomenon.

While much of the evidence related to the ancient astronaut theory has been refuted, it's difficult to debunk much of the artistic evidence left behind by ancient men, and the latest discovery of this kind of graphic evidence is in India.

The Times of India is reporting the discovery of ancient cave paintings in the relatively remote state of Chhattisgarh. These paintings depict humanoids who appear to be wearing suits with round helmets as well as disc-shaped craft with landing gear. They are estimated to be 10,000 years old, long before any technology beyond simple tools was available. Check them out for yourselves below courtesy of TOI's Amit Bhardwaj.

Alone, this would be an interesting discovery. What makes it creepy is that the region has ancient folklore concerning a race of people called "rohela people," which means "small ones." These people are said to have come down from the heavens in ancient days, taking one or two people from villages who were never returned.

Yep, folks, ancient Indians created "The X-Files" long before Chris Carter.

Further examination of the artwork is due to happen soon as the remote state doesn't have an expert on hand who specializes in ancient artwork like this. Could these be depictions of small alien creatures coming down and dominating a primitive, ancient group of humans in India? Or are they just representations of the imagination and religion of ancient men not yet advanced enough to understand how their art would later be interpreted?

    Synopsis

Stephanie asks for help with her thesis film, a "found footage" piece. The friends are going to play-act a traditional horror story: Two ingenues are stalked and murdered by two crazed hillbillies. But who is stalking whom? How far are we willing to go for our art? How much will people take before they burst? Raw Cut explores the meta world between found footage and reality. What starts as a traditional horror film turns into something far darker, more suspenseful. How well do any of the friends really know each other? And who will survive the cut?

#SDCC14: Run Like Hell in San Diego to Get Your Poster SignedIndie horror is trudging its way into the hallowed halls of the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, and as always we'll be there running around like maniacs trying to bring you all the sights and sounds you need on your radar. Read on for this first tidbit!

    From the Press Release
Run Like Hell, the first film from director James Thomas, has been picked up for domestic distribution. Gravitas Ventures has secured the VOD rights while Millennium Entertainment will be partnering to release the film on DVD.

The film centers on four friends in the middle of a cross-country road trip who get sidetracked in the desert town of Spaulding. When their car gets stolen, prompting them to be taken in by local residents, what starts as a chance to rest and regroup turns into a fight for their lives. And they'll take any opportunity they can to RUN LIKE HELL.

Filmmakers will be having a poster signing at the GeekScape booth (#3919) at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 26th, from 2-3pm.

"RUN LIKE HELL is an action packed horror film that will make you question taking that next road trip. The film shows the gritty side of humanity and has an eerie realism to it that makes you wonder if this type of thing actually happens"– James Thomas, Director

“Sure, it's your fun catch 'em and kill 'em horror film, but it's firmly planted in a realistic world.  We tried to keep it there, which makes it even more terrifying.  I know I won't be taking a road trip any time soon.” – Canyon Prince, Producer
