"Todd & the Book of Pure Evil" has quite a few fans around the DC office, and if you count yourself as one as well, here's an exclusive clip from next week's Episode 2.02, "The Student Body", which airs on Tuesday, March 20th, at 10:00 PM.

Synopsis:
This supernatural comedy starring Alex House, Maggie Castle, Bill Turnbull, Melanie Leishman, and Chris Leavins and featuring Jason Mewes (Mallrats, Clerks) tells the story of a small-town high school kid trying to save the world. In each episode Todd (House) and his cohorts are pitted against the dark powers of a mysterious book that grants seemingly innocuous wishes with sinister, unexpected, cataclysmic, and downright satanic side effects.

During Season 2 the Book of Pure Evil continues to feed on the needy, the desperate, the lost, and the vain. Anyone possessing the Book is unable to resist the temptation to use its power for their own teen angst-fueled desires. Our evil-fighting team will continue to protect Crowley High from the monsters the powerfully evil Book spawns, as they are the only thing standing between the Book and total world destruction.

Buffalo, New York’s award-winning DefTone Pictures Studios has been busy this year. In addition to releasing controversial grindhouse series Black Guy on a Rampage and commencing its upcoming epic alien invasion film Ombis, they've announced a secret weapon: Caged.

Do you ever wonder how the first zombie is created? Caged promises to tell that story. Caged stars Robert Bozek (Slime City Massacre, The Final Night and Day) and Patrick Mallett (Black Guy on a Rampage, The Final Night and Day). Mr. March (Bozek) wakes up, locked in a cage, suffering from temporary amnesia. As he tries to figure out his surroundings, the events of the past hours begin to haunt him in a series of flashbacks. Mr. March tries to pull the clues together to get out of the cage alive: a biohazard canister, blood sprayed against the walls, and a dead body nearby on the floor. A pistol lies just out of reach near an open briefcase. But why? Mr. March must overcome the terror that has been unleashed around him and find a way out of the cage.

Director and co-writer of the project Adam R. Steigert had this to say about the production “Caged is a very interesting project, a zombie film with a twist. Unlike a lot of the zombie films that focus on carnage, our story focuses on the real terror that one man goes through while placed in a situation. But don’t get me wrong... there is still some good carnage!”

Caged special effects makeup artist Phill Beith says, “Working on Caged was a fun experience! I get the call from Adam (Steigert) on a Monday and literally three days later we’re on set filming this unique zombie flick. A very good experience while gearing up to film Ombis.”

DefTone Pictures' release date for Caged is October 1st, 2012. It will also be available for digital download October 28th after its initial theatrical screening. A release date for the DVD will also be in October of 2012. Special features will include an exclusive scene from DefTone Pictures Studios' next film, Ombis, which stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, Sara Manzella, and special guest star Melyssa Jade.

Another H.P. Lovecraft adaptation is headed our way, this time from the man for whom "rest" is a dirty word, director Albert Pyun, who is putting the finishing touches on Cool Air, which will be debuting at the Estepona International Film Festival in September.

The rest of us here in the States should be able to see Cool Air soon afterwards via Wrekin Hill, who bought North America rights to the film.

Writer Cynthia Curnan and Pyun have re-imagined the story with a contemporary but no less creepy setting. Cool Air stars Morgan Weisser, Wendy Phillips, Jenny Dare Paulin, Crystal Green, and Norbert Weisser; and the editing is by Glen Berry.

The story is set up as the narrator's explanation for why a "draught of cool air" is the most detestable thing to him.

The tale opens up in the spring of 1923 with the narrator looking for housing in New York City, finally settling in a converted brownstone on West Fourteenth Street. Eventually, a chemical leak from the floor above reveals that the inhabitant directly overhead is a strange, old, and reclusive doctor. One day the narrator suffers a heart attack, and remembering that a doctor lives directly above, heads there, culminating in his first meeting with Dr. Muñoz.

The doctor shows supreme medical skill and saves the narrator with a concoction of drugs, resulting in the fascinated narrator returning regularly to sit and learn from the doctor, his new friend. As their talks continue, it becomes increasingly evident that the doctor has an obsession with defying death through all available means.

The doctor's room is kept cold at approximately 56 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) using an ammonia-based refrigeration system, the pumps driven by a gasoline engine. As time goes on, the doctor's health declines and his behaviour becomes increasingly eccentric. The cooling system is continuously upgraded, to the point where some areas are at sub-freezing temperatures--until one night when the pump breaks down.

Without explanation, the panic-stricken doctor frantically implores his friend to help him keep his body cool. Unable to repair the machine until morning and without a replacement piston, they resort to having the doctor stay in a tub full of ice. The narrator spends his time replenishing the ice but soon is forced to employ someone else to do it. When he finally manages to locate competent mechanics and the replacement part, however, it is too late.

He arrives at the apartment only to see the rapidly-decomposed remains of the doctor and a rushed, "hideously smeared" letter. The narrator reads it and, to his horror, finally understands the doctor's peculiarities: Dr. Muñoz was undead and had been for the past 18 years. Refusing to give in, he kept his body going past the point of death using various methods, including perpetual coldness.

In celebration of the release of "Helldiver", the first book in the epic graphic novel series The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Heavy Metal Magazine invites artists to submit their original artwork or photography displaying their vision of Pestilence.

The three-book series is written by Michael Mendheim and illustrated by Simon Bisley. Check out the cover art for "Helldiver" and a video trailer below. Parts 2 and 3 are entitled "The Chosen" and "End of Days," respectively.

Kevin Eastman, owner and publisher of Heavy Metal Magazine, asks "What's Your Vision of Pestilence?" It was announced this week that WWE Studios and Lionsgate are partnering to remake Leprechaun. Can anything they come up with possibly top the Leprechaun rapping at the end of Leprechaun in the Hood? We shall see.

More casting news is coming in for ABC's dark new series "666 Park Avenue", which is out to prove what a devilish place New York City can be. Trust me; after living in Brooklyn for over thirty years, I speak from experience!

According to Deadline Erik Palladino ("ER", "Over There") has been added to the ABC pilot in the recurring role of Tony Demeo.

The project centers on a young couple (Rachael Taylor, Dave Annable) who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. Unwittingly, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences that complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building. Vanessa Williams plays the coldly beautiful and sophisticated wife of the building’s owner (Terry O’Quinn).

Helena Mattsson co-stars along with Mercedes Masöhn ("The Finder") and Robert Buckley ("One Tree Hill") as fashion photographer Louise and playwright Brian, another couple who live at the ominous address.

Following up on an earlier story about stars in contention to play the lead role in the next adaptation of the Stephen King tale Carrie, MGM has officially made an offer for the part.

According to Deadline, MGM, Screen Gems and director Kim Peirce have made their decision and made the formal offer today to Chloe Moretz. If negotiations work out, she’ll play the title role in the remake of the Brian DePalma original that was based on the 1974 Stephen King bestseller.

In case you've forgotten, shy high school student Carrie White is raised by a nightmarish religious fanatic mother and comes to grip with devastating telepathic powers just as she reaches puberty. She eventually uses those gifts for lethal means when fellow classmates use the prom as an excuse to humiliate her before the entire school in a parable about bullying.

Sissy Spacek played the character in the first movie, with Piper Laurie playing her mother, and Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, John Travolta, Betty Buckley and William Katt rounding out the cast. Both Spacek and Laurie got Oscar nominations for their work in the 1976 film.

Wow. Just wow. As a collector of fine horror movie memorabilia, my tongue has been dragging on the floor since the second I set eyes on this incredibly rare piece of artwork in promotion of Universal's original Dracula.

According to THR a trove of rare movie posters from the early '30s discovered in Berwick, Pennsylvania fetched $503,000 at an auction conducted by Heritage Auctions.

The most coveted item in the collection was a rare 1931 one-sheet from Dracula, just one of four known copies in existence, which fetched $143,400, slightly below its initial estimate of $200,000.

I'd kill for even a reproduction of this one. Someone? Anyone? Get to work, people! My credit card is HOT!

Fresh off of their stint making the most brainless Underworld movie to date, the directing duo of Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein already have their next project lined up!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, the Swedish directing team behind Underworld: Awakening, are returning to home turf for their next project: an adaptation of the horror novel Collected Swedish Cults from author Andres Fager.

Book Synopsis
At Underryd Dance Hall in the woods outside of the boring midsized town of Borås, there has been dancing and partying since the dawn of time. There, a group of teenage girls meet to party, but they seem to have more on the agenda than just drinking and flirting. When darkness falls, they lure a young man out into the marsh behind the Dance Hall building to meet with the Messenger, a creature who is as old and ugly as he is powerful. They have done it many times before and their mothers before them, but this time something goes terribly wrong.

Grandmother is going on a journey. Zami and Janoch, brothers from the immigrant suburb of Rosengård outside Malmö, have been given a mission: They are going to cross Europe by car to pick up Grandmother in the Balkans and bring her back to the new country up north. But the brothers have never driven a car before; they have never even handled money and never spoken to anyone outside the family. And they keep to the shadows; people have a tendency to freak out when they get a look at Janoch...

Collected Swedish Cults is a collection of short stories divided into three books, but it’s more than that. Anders Fager himself compares the form with that of a modern American TV series, such as
"True Blood" or "Lost". Each short story, or episode, tells a story of its own as well as adds a piece to the puzzle of the whole. And just as a TV series with each new season adds a new perspective, each of the three books of Collected Swedish Cults shows the Fager universe from a new angle. What first appears to be a traditional collection of short stories soon evolves into a web of tales building an epic saga of good versus evil in a world inhabited by the supernatural.

Anders Fager is the latest and most interesting example of the strong trend of Swedish horror that started with John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Let the Right One In in 2004, taking the young adult supernatural trend into darker territory. Fager presents a modern, adult and quite violent take on the horror story reminiscent of Stephen King at his darkest, or perhaps a John Ajvide Lindqvist on steroids, inspired by the world of classic horror master H.P. Lovecraft. It is at the same time completely realistic and utterly monstrous.

Just a few days after the Russian trailer leaked and was systematically yanked from the web, the international trailer for the animated horror comedy Hotel Transylvania has crawled up from the depths.

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky ("Samurai Jack," "Dexter's Laboratory"), the flick stars Adam Sandler as Dracula; Selena Gomez as his daughter, Mavis; David Koechner as Quasimodo; David Spade as Griffin the invisible man; Kevin James as Frank, aka Frankenstein; Fran Drescher as his bride, Eunice; Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon as married werewolves Wayne and Wanda; Cee Lo Green as Murray the mummy; and Andy Samberg as Jonathan, a regular guy.

Hotel Transylvania is slated for a September 21st release.

Synopsis
Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez), Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters - Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more - can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem - but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Syfy's "Being Human" ended with one hell of a cliffhanger last night. Maybe this preview and clip from next week's Episode 2.12, "Partial Eclipse of the Heart", will shed some light on things. We also have a sneak peek of "Lost Girl" Episode 1.12, "(Dis)Members Only".

Silk's co-stars are Kris Holden-Ried as Dyson, a shape-shifting Fae, homicide detective, and Bo’s love interest; Ksenia Solo as Kenzi, Bo’s human confidante and a street-smart survivor; Zoie Palmer as Lauren, a human doctor who competes for Bo’s heart; Rick Howland as Trick, the mysterious owner and bartender at The Dal Riata tavern with a secretive past that is yet to be unlocked; and K.C. 1995's Embrace of the Vampire is not a very good movie, but it is famous for one thing (or should we say two things?) - it exposed Alyssa Milano's rack to the entire world for the first time. Hell, that's a good enough reason for a remake, no?

Word has come in that CineTel Films, the company behind the remake of I Spit on Your Grave, is in pre-production on yet another reboot - Embrace of the Vampire, a modern spin on Anne Goursaud's 1995 flick which starred the aforementioned very nude Alyssa Milano.

There's no word on a director or cast just yet, but one has to wonder, will this flick's selling point be the exposure of another famous chick? If so, who do you want to lecherously ogle?

Synopsis:
Detention tells the story of the senior class at Grizzly Lake high school. The road to graduation is never an easy one, but it's further complicated for these students by the arrival of a slasher movie killer who has seemingly come to life. The only ones who can stop the killer are a handful of students, but they'll have to cut out of detention if they're to stand a chance at saving the world.
