Stephen King has turned Maine into an iconic state filled with horrors over the years so it's only right that the upcoming documentary Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary makes its premiere on a double bill with Pet Sematary in Hancock, Maine.

On Saturday, September 13th, Unearthed & Untold will be playing at the Grand Theater in Ellsworth - one of the primary towns featured in the original film. This event is being billed as a double feature: They will also be showing Pet Sematary just before the documentary!

The doc's filmmakers, John Campopiano and Justin White, will be in attendance as will some local cast and crew from the film.

We told you a couple of days ago that Gravitas Ventures would be releasing director Greg Olliver's Devoured on VOD on September 2, 2014. Now we have the official word along with an image gallery and a new one-sheet. We're good like that!

Synopsis

We already knew that, per usual, FX would be debuting "American Horror Story: Freak Show" sometime in October, but now we have the show's official premiere date. Read on for the details!

Per FX Canada, "American Horror Story" ("AHS") returns with an all-new gritty and gripping season, premiering Wednesday, October 8th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). Season 4, "Freak Show," is set in 1950s Juniper, FL, and centers around one of the last remaining freak shows of the time.

From bearded ladies to Siamese twins, "Freak Show" features some of the series’ most familiar faces.

The world is a truly screwed up and scary place right now. As if the awfulness of what's happening in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri, wasn't enough, some Kentucky residents are actually threatening to... well... Purge.

According to the Courier Journal, threats of a violent crime outbreak on Friday evening — based on the movie The Purge— are being taken seriously by local police. Officers in both Louisville and Jeffersonville, Indiana, said they are aware of the "Louisville Purge" threats circulating on Twitter and will have officers ready to respond.

In the Purge movies a mob kills people during a fictitious 12-hour period where all criminal activity becomes legal.

Louisville police spokesman Sgt. Phil Russell said the police "take any threat that would incite violence on our community seriously."

Now let me stop right here and address this situation right now. These morons who are talking things up ARE NOT DOING SO because of the Purge movies. They are doing so BECAUSE THEY'RE IDIOTS. True, sometimes life does imitate art, but instead of just blaming the art, why not take a look at the other factors? Why are people angry enough to do this? Why would something as heinous as this actually happen? I can assure you it's not because of a couple of Platinum Dunes movies, although I was ready to riot over the treatment given to both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street by them.

People are so quick to neatly compartmentalize issues in a tiny box without addressing the real problems. Boxes are easy to put away after all. If the "Louisville Purge" does happen... which I highly doubt... it's because the people in that area have serious issues that lay far beyond Hollywood. To those people I say, "Hey, assholes! Solve your problems with your brains, and stop giving the morons you're rebelling against more ammo to use in the great easy-out blame game. You're accomplishing nothing. Director Adam Gierasch is a wonderfully sick, twisted, and talented man. That's why whenever news comes our way that he's working on a new flick, we're on it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm. Read on for your first details of the House by the Lake.

Synopsis:

With Ragnarok available TODAY via iTunes, On Demand, and in limited theatres, Magnolia Pictures/Magnet Releasing have unveiled a new clip from the film, in which archeologists unlock the code that leads to one of the biggest secrets in history.

Mikkel Brænne Sandemose directed the film, which was written by John Kåre Raake. Pål Sverre Hagen, Nicolai Cleve Broch, Bjørn Sundquist, Sofia Helin, and Maria Annette Tanderød Berglyd star.

Synopsis
Archeologist Sigurd Svendsen (Pål Sverre Hagen) has for years been obsessed with the Oseberg Viking ship. The only inscription found on the ship is the enigmatic "man knows little" written in runes. Sigurd is sure that the Oseberg ship contains the answer to the mystery of Ragnarok, the end of days in Norse mythology.

When his friend Allan finds similar runes on a stone from the north of Norway, Sigurd becomes convinced that the runes are in fact a treasure map. Together they mount an expedition group, and their adventure leads to the "No Man's Land" between Norway and Russia, which has been deserted for decades. Here Sigurd learns the true meaning of the runes - a secret more terrifying than he could possibly imagine.

The transformation scene in John Landis' classic An American Werewolf in London is to this day one of the horror genre's finest moments and a true benchmark in practical effects work. Time to take a truly loving look at it!

Director Travis Betz (Joshua) got together with John's son, Max Landis (who stars in the short below), and Cinefex to do a homemade reenactment of the iconic and infamous transformation. The results are pretty friggin' hilarious. Check it out!

In case you've been living under a rock or are too young to know any better, the iconic film follows two American college students, Jack and David, as they backpack across the moors of England. On a misty, full-moon night, the men are attacked by a supernatural creature that kills Jack and taints David with its horrific curse.

Yesterday we showed you a quick teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new fright flick The Babadook (review), and today the official UK trailer has arrived with a scream. Dig it!

Look for the critically acclaimed spookshow Stateside on November 28th and in the UK on October 24. First, however, The Babadook will have its UK premiere at Film4 FrightFest on August 23rd at Vue West End in London’s Leicester Square.

Written and directed by Jennifer Kent, the film stars Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear.

Synopsis
Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6-year-old, Samuel (Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control; he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son’s behavior, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.

Some quick casting news is here for the upcoming MTV series based on the Scream franchise as THR is reporting that four more actors have signed on for active duty, one of whom will be replacing the previously announced Amy Forsyth.

Willa Fitzgerald will star as Emma Duvall, a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature. Her new life with the “in crowd” leaves her estranged from her childhood best friend, Audrey.

Emma is the lead in MTV’s "Scream" take and bears a resemblance to Neve Campbell’s tortured high school student Sidney Prescott in the 1996 feature film.

Bex Taylor-Klaus, who has been recurring on The CW’s "Arrow" as DC Comics character Sin and whose credits also include "The Killing" and "House of Lies," will replace Forsyth in role of Audrey, the daughter of a Lutheran pastor. She’s described as an artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.

Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) will recur as Seth Branson, a hot English teacher at Lakewood High who has an easy charm and is clearly one of the “cool” teachers, who can go with it if a lesson plan gets a little off-track.

Connor Weil (Sharknado) will be a series regular and portray Will Belmont, an all-American high school basketball player who adores his girlfriend, Emma (Fitzgerald).

Joel Gretsch ("Witches of East End,""V,""The 4400") is set as Sheriff Clark Hudson, a good guy and good sheriff who is father to Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). David Arquette famously portrayed the lovable sheriff in screenwriter Kevin Williamson’s Scream features.

Willa Fitzgerald (“Alpha House,” “Royal Pains”), John Karna (Premature, “The Neighbors”), Carlson Young (“Key and Peele,” “The Kroll Show”), and Amadeus Serafini also star.

Wes Craven will no longer be directing the pilot episode of the series with MTV officially tapping “Faking It” helmer Jamie Travis to take his place. Jill Blotevogel (“Harper's Island”) is serving as showrunner on the pilot and exec producing with the Weinsteins, Craven, Marianne Maddalena, and Cathy Konrad.

Olivier Beguin’s vampire thriller Chimères (review) is heading to VOD next week courtesy of The Orchard and STYD. Look to sink your teeth into this one on August 19th via iTunes, Amazon, and the like.

Synopsis
While on holidays in Romania with his girlfriend, Livia, Alexandre is hit by a car. He is rushed to the hospital, where he has to undergo a blood transfusion.

Upon his return home he seems to suffer from a strange disease, convinced that contaminated blood runs through his veins. After all, isn’t Romania the land of legendary bloodsuckers? Livia faces Alexandre’s increasingly strange behavior and tries to save their relationship at risk.

Horror gaming is a monster in and of itself. Yet, one monster has been seemingly absent from the bloody masquerade of video games... the slasher. That is all changing with Supermassive Games’ upcoming slasher film-inspired Until Dawn.

The game made a stunning debut during Sony's press conference, where they were keen to point out the large role the element of choice will play in the game. The news was already promising, but the developers just revealed how deep the infernal pit goes...

Until Dawn will feature thousands of storyline branches and hundreds of endings. The game accomplishes this through the use of what Supermassive calls“the butterfly effect.” When a choice must be made, such as whether or not to pick up a book, a small butterfly icon will appear, indicating this choice will have consequences later in the game. The path you choose will lead you to one of Until Dawn’s hundreds of endings.

The choices that shape the game’s path can be something as simple as which door you open to something as pressing as whether or not to put a bullet in your friend’s brain. Sony pointed out at its press conference that every character can die in the game, and if they die, they stay dead and the game moves on. Until Dawn will alter its story based on character deaths, having unique endings based on the number of characters still alive.

Until Dawn was first announced two years ago at Gamescom for the now defunct PlayStation Move. Supermassive has since re-tooled the game with top tier Hollywood writers and actors, including Scream 4 actress Hayden Panettiere.

No release date has been attached to Until Dawn, but it has already appeared in the PlayStation Store pre-order section. However, at the time of writing this article, the content is not selectable. Until Dawn will appear exclusively on the PS4.

A camera floats through an old yard, diving into an ancient crypt. A detective speaks of disturbing secrets and a man named Carter... “He shouldn’t have.”

The crypt lights up in flame, and we see a man lying on a slab, a blade protruding from his chest. At the Sony press conference this was our ghastly hello to The Vanishing off Ethan Carter.

The game appears to be ghost detective story, as the trailer quickly morphs into the spirit realm and features two ghosts attempting to decipher clues, thereby garnering comparisons to the already released Murdered: Soul Suspect.

We're also a treated to a very large tentacle, hinting at the horrors that dwell deep below Red Creek Valley while tantalizing those gamers who are into such things.

Gameplay seems to be a combination of first and third person perspective as the game switches to both styles within the trailer.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter looks to be an independent title, based on the graphics and the fact that it was shown during Sony’s half-hour indie showcase. No word on a release date was given, but The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will make its debut on the PS4.

It's Friday night, and we're feeling "Sleepy"! No, not as in tired and needing to catch some zzz's, but as in fired up and ready to prep for Season 2 of "Sleepy Hollow" with this awesome six-minute video of everything we need to know about Season 1.

"Sleepy Hollow" focuses on a resurrected Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), who’s pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to America’s founding fathers. Along for the wild ride is a modern-day cop, Lt. Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie).

Orlando Jones, Katia Winter, Lyndie Greenwood, and John Noble return along with Mison and Beharie, and joining the show this coming season are Timothy Busfield as Benjamin Franklin; Sakina Jaffrey as Sheriff Reyes, filling in for the incarcerated Frank Irving (Jones); Heather Lind as Mary Wells, Crane’s English ex straight out of the 18th century; Matt Barr as Nick Hawley, an arms dealer who gets drawn into Ichabod and Abbie's work; and Aunjanue Ellis as Abbie and Jenny's (Greenwood) mother, Lori Mills.

Season 2 of "Sleepy Hollow" will be an expanded 18 episodes, and we should have a synopsis for Episode 2.01 shortly - stay tuned! If you're still not quite caught up on Season 1, the Blu-ray and DVD arrive on September 16th.

John Murdy, Creative Director of Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, tweeted up a storm last night, revealing two new Scare Zones heading to the popular haunted attraction: "DARK CHRISTMAS" (complete with Krampus) and the Wendigo-based "SKULLZ."

We're not sure what to think now that so much of the action is moving outside the Dome in CBS's "Under the Dome." Doesn't that negate the title of the show? In any event, here's a sneak peek of what's ahead in Episode 2.08, "Awakening."

Every day seems to bring a new release celebrating the anniversary of some well known movie from the past. Moontrap may not be that well known, but Olive Films is honoring the Walter Koenig/Bruce Campbell sci-fi horror flick’s 25th anniversary with its first ever DVD/Blu-ray release.

It would probably be fair to call Moontrap an obscure film these days since it has never been released on DVD or Blu-ray (at least in the US) since its brief theatrical run and video release all the way back in 1989. VHS and gray market DVDs have been the only way to see the movie until now.

The best way to describe Moontrap to the uninitiated is to imagine a Stuart Gordon-esque splicing of Alien and Hardware.

Synopsis:
During a routine flight, two veteran space shuttle pilots ("Star Trek’s" Walter Koenig and Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell) discover an alien artifact and bring it back to earth. It soon turns out to be an extraterrestrial war robot that is able to recycle any biological or technical material for its own deadly use. The two astronauts are sent to the Moon, where NASA expects to uncover the mystery of the alien robot's origin. They discover an ancient humanoid culture and battle the ultimate threat of the war machines heading to earth.

The film has been newly remastered in HD for its special 25th Anniversary Blu-ray release coming from Olive Films on November 4th. Disc extras will include a new video interview with Bruce Campbell and Walter Koenig, another new video interview with director Robert Dyke and writer Tex Ragsdale, and an audio commentary track with Dyke and Ragsdale.

Turns out a sequel is also in the works coming next year.

Dyke and Ragsdale have reunited for Moontrap: Target Earth, currently in post-production. No Koenig or Campbell this time. The sequel stars Sarah Butler of the I Spit on Your Grave remake and Charles Shaughnessy, best known for sitcom "The Nanny" and soap "Days of Our Lives." Damon Dayoub co-stars.

Synopsis:
Moontrap: Target Earth deals with the discovery of an ancient spacecraft on Earth, left behind by an advanced human civilization, now lost in the distant past. A young woman studying the ship suddenly finds herself transported to the Moon to confront the gigantic machines that guard the secrets of those long-ago lunar voyagers.
