MVD has announced the North American DVD release of Giorgio Amato's fly-on-the-wall serial killer thriller Closed Circuit Extreme with a street date of August 26th. Read on for the trailer, cover art, and more details about the film.

Written and directed by Giorgio Amato and produced by Italy's acclaimed siblings the Manetti Bros. (Arrival of Wang, Paura 3D), Closed Circuit Extreme stars Francesca Cuttica, Guglielmo Favilla, Gaia Insenga, and Stefano Fregni.

Synopsis:
A young couple who suspect their neighbor is responsible for the disappearance of a friend break into his house and rig each room with hidden CCTV cameras which reveal he is a sadistic serial killer. When they return to retrieve the evidence, they are trapped by the beast and forced to fight for their lives.

Christopher Buehlman's The Lesser Dead, a ferocious and funny look at vampires living in 1978 New York City, is told by Joey Peacock—a perpetually fourteen-year-old vampire who lives underground in the city's tunnels. It arrives October 7th from Ace Hardcover.

While riding the subways one night, Joey (a very questionable narrator) discovers that his group might not be the city’s apex predators when he witnesses a small group of children hypnotize a businessman and lead him away into the subway tunnel.

What follows is a gruesome game of cat and mouse between New York’s vampire residents and an ancient evil.

Back in January 2012 we got the first word on Ombis, which then became Ombis: Alien Invasion and is now known as Not Human. After some false starts, the film is finally arriving on VOD and DVD, and it's gotten some new artwork to celebrate.

The film was directed by Adam R. Steigert and written by Steigert, Janeen Avery, Terry Kimmel, Mark Mendola, and Michael Sciabarrasi. Not Human stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, and Sara Manzella along with Kathy Murphy, Alexander Sloan McBryde, Brenda Rickert, and Aryn Fitzgerald.

Synopsis:
Not Human follows the story of peaceful, rustic Metzburgh: a quiet village which was a former industrial town whose glory days are long past after the collapse of Metzburgh Grain. The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor will rise from the haunted bows of a rich, torrid history to scare all those who dare this Halloween season. Dark Harbor is pleased to unveil two brand new mazes, Soulmate and B340, and the Exclusive Encounter unlike any other haunted experience onboard the infamous cruise liner.

Graceful Gale was the belle of The Queen Mary in the 1930s. As a beautiful first class passenger Gale charmed her way across the ship’s dance floor regularly until mysteriously disappearing on her final passage in 1939. The new Soulmate maze will take over the former location of the Containment maze and bring to life the haunted spirit of the frightful Graceful Gale. The story of Gale will unravel as her true spirit is revealed and those who dare will realize that Gale may not be as graceful as she appeared, but in fact is more monstrous than ever imagined. Gale will haunt The Queen Mary in order to lure suitors into her possession. Once she captures their hearts she will have her adoring minions cut them up and reassemble them to create her "perfect mate". But Gale isn’t so easy to please and only a few creatures are suitable enough to be her dance partner. The rest of the rejects are doomed and outcast to haunt the Queen at night.

On a 1948 Atlantic voyage, third class Queen Mary passenger Samuel was locked away in Room B340 after a violent outburst. After hours of isolation, crew found Samuel in his room, violently ripped apart. Murdered or self-induced suicide, no one knows. B340 is a new maze through Samuel the Savage’s schizophrenic journey of isolated decent into insanity. Synopsis

Set to premiere on October 8th, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" has added another popular actor to its cast: "White Collar's" Matt Bomer, who will appear in just one episode this season.

"AHS" showrunner Ryan Murphy told EW that Bomer's role is "very... warped"and he’s excited to reunite once again with the "amazing"actor. Bomer is nominated this year for an Emmy for his performance in "The Normal Heart," also directed by Murphy.

"I try to get him to do everything for me, Murphy said. "I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’" No other details about Bomer's role were revealed, but Murphy added that he had to work around Bomer’s schedule filming Magic Mike 2 in order to make the appearance work.

Season 4 features returning stars Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars, Kathy Bates as Effil Darling, Angela Bassett as Desiree Dupree, Sarah Paulson doing double-duty as Siamese twins Bette and Dot Tattler, Evan Peters playing Jimmy Darling, and Emma Roberts as Maggie.

"AHS" newcomer Michael Chiklis stars as Wendell Del Toredo, and also joining the show this season is John Carroll Lynch ("Fargo"), who will play a core villain. Denis O'Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, Jamie Brewer, Frances Conroy, Wes Bentley, Jyoti Amge, Finn Wittrock, and Patti LaBelle round out the cast.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" is set in 1950s Florida and centers around one of the last remaining freak shows of the time. Look for the season premiere on Wednesday, October 8th, at 10:00 pm ET/PT.

On tap right now we have the first official one-sheet for Gregory Levasseur's directorial debut, The Pyramid (formerly Site 146). The flick was scooped up for distribution by Fox, who plans to release it in theatres on December 5, 2014.

Alexandre Aja produced the film, which stars Ashley Hinshaw, Denis O’Hare, James Buckley, and Daniel Amerman. Levasseur worked from a script by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon.

Synopsis
A team of U.S. archaeologists unearths an ancient pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. As they search the pyramid's depths, they become hopelessly lost in its dark and endless catacombs. We all know that these days the best horror is on TV, and two more awesome sounding new genre shows are heading to Lifetime and HBO. Read on for the early details of "Damien" and "Ashecliffe," respectively.

Per Deadline, Lifetime has given a straight-to-series pickup to "Damien," a sequel drama about what became of the evil child in the 1976 film The Omen, written by former "The Walking Dead" showrunner Glen Mazzara.

"Damien" has received a six-episode order for an early 2015 premiere. It is produced by Fox TV Studios, whose sibling Twentieth Century Fox produced the movie and where Mazzara is under an overall deal. The thriller series follows the adult life of Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the 1976 feature who has grown up, seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist, the most feared man throughout the ages.

“Glen Mazzara has re-imagined Damien as a dark, romantic anti-hero; and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original,” said Lifetime EVP Rob Sharenow. Mazzara executive produces through his 44 Strong Prods. alongside Ross Fineman of Fineman Entertainment, who developed the project alongside Mazzara, and Pancho Mansfield.

As for "Ashecliffe," HBO and Paramount Television are making deals to turn the 2010 hit film Shutter Island into a TV series that's now tentatively titled "Ashecliffe." Again according to Deadline, the plan is for the pilot to be directed by Martin Scorsese from a script by Dennis Lehane, who wrote the bestselling thriller novel Scorsese and screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis turned into the hit film that starred Leonardo DiCaprio. The timing is dependent on the availability of Scorsese.

"Ashecliffe" is the name of the isolated mental hospital where the movie took place, and the series begins before the events of the film. The focus is the past of hospital and the secrets and misdeeds perpetrated by its founders, who erected the hospital in the early 20th Century and developed the methods of treatment used for the mentally ill.

Scorsese, Lehane, Kalogridis, Brad Fischer, Appian Way’s DiCaprio and Jennifer Killoran Davisson, Rick Yorn, Chris Donnelly, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Phoenix’s Mike Medavoy, and Arnie Messer will be exec producers. Tom Bernardo is working with Lehane as a co-writer of the format.

Vertical Entertainment and Participant Media announce that Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to Participant’s supernatural thriller Out of the Dark and slated the film for an early 2015 theatrical release.

Starring Julia Stiles, Scott Speedman, and Stephen Rea, Out of the Dark is a ghost story set in South America, where a young family’s new life turns from promising to terrifying when they are forced to confront ancient legends, ghosts, and a haunting family secret.

Out of the Dark will be presented by Vertical in association with Participant Media and Image Nation. It is a production of Apaches Entertainment, Cactus Flower, and Fast Producciones in association with Dynamo and XYZ Films. The film was executive produced by Jeff Skoll, Jonathan King, Roy Azout, and Nick Spicer; produced by Belén Atienza, Cristian Conti, Enrique López Lavigne, and Andrés Calderón from a screenplay by Alex Pastor, David Pastor, and Javier Gullón; and was directed by Lluís Quílez. Out of the Dark was shot on location in Colombia and is a Spanish-Colombian co-production.

Jonathan King, Participant’s EVP, Narrative Film, commented, “Lluís is an outstanding first-time director who made a thrilling ghost story with a powerful message, and we are thrilled to have Vertical on board to deliver it to audiences.”

“We are delighted to have our first affiliation with both Participant and XYZ Films,” said Vertical’s Co-President Rich Goldberg. “Out of the Dark is much more than it seems on the surface. We think it will surprise genre fans with its ability to reach beyond just the scares and great storytelling and have a thought-provoking motif that will stay with them well after they see it.”

Goldberg and Peter Jarowey negotiated the deal for Vertical with Nate Bolotin at XYZ Films and Jeff Ivers for Participant. Bloom is handling international sales for Out of the Dark.

Lionsgate has dropped the official trailer for Ed Sanchez's (The Blair Witch Project) new Bigfoot film, Exists, which will be arriving on various VOD platforms and in limited theaters on October 24th. Check it out!

In a recent interview with Fangoria, Zombie dropped the following on fans regarding a possible new Devil's Rejects film...

“I’ve always thought I’d like to make another movie because I love the characters, and I have an idea I think is solid for a third one – an idea that would make sense. The problem is, I don’t own the characters now. They’re owned by Lionsgate, and they just don’t have any desire to do anything. So it isn’t me not doing it because I don’t want to; I don’t have the ability to get it done.”

Lionsgate will handle worldwide distribution of See No Evil 2, while WWE Studios will utilize its extensive global reach through television, digital, and social media and print assets to market the film.

Synopsis
Jacob Goodnight (WWE superstar “Kane”) fell to his apparent demise from high atop the Blackwell Hotel in See No Evil, and this terrifying sequel picks up where the last one left off. With Jacob's body lying on a cold sub-basement slab in the city morgue, Amy (Danielle Harris), a mortician, is surprised when a group of friends pay her a late-night visit for her birthday. But the surprise soon turns deadly when the psychopath everyone believed to be dead sets-out on a horrific killing spree, and Amy and her friends must do whatever it takes to survive.

More casting news has come in for the second entry into Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich's surreal wonderland known as The Devil’s Carnival (review). Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) has joined the ever-growing cast of The Devil's Carnival 2: Alleluia.

Moseley joins the previously announced Zdunich, Brea Grant, Paul Sorvino, rapper Tech N9ne, Emilie Autumn, Briana Evigan, Marc Senter, Dayton Callie, Barry Bostwick, Ted Neeley, Adam Pascal, and David Hasselhoff. Musicians Chantal Claret, Jimmy Urine, Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot, and Kevin “Ogre” Ogilvie from Skinny Puppy round out the ensemble of carnies and lost souls whose paths cross at a theme park.

Zdunich wrote the script and co-wrote the musical numbers with Saar Hendelman. Producers are Chris M. Bonifay and Sean E. Demott. Brian Perera is executive producer.

Deadline reports that Cage will star as a professor whose young son goes missing during a Halloween parade in New York City. One year later he begins to sense his son’s presence and uncovers clues leading to a vicious and vengeful ghost that surfaces each Halloween to abduct children. Callies will play Kristen, Cage’s estranged wife and a whip smart environmental attorney who teams up with her husband to recover their son before he’s lost to the spirit world forever.

Dan Kay (Timber Falls) is handling script duties as he adapts Tim Lebbon's short story of the same name. Kay developed the script with Midnight Kitchen Productions' Ian Levy, which was then acquired by Voltage Films.

The most surprising thing about this story is that Uli Edel is still directing. I haven't seen his name attached to anything since the early 90s when the director helmed the Madonna thriller Body of Evidence and a season two episode of "Twin Peaks." Turns out he's been plenty busy in that interim.
