Per Deadline, German actress Julie Engelbrecht will do battle with Diesel in the villainous role, a part she landed after an international casting search. The Paris-born actress is most known for roles in Before the Fall and The Red Baron.

Michael Caine, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie, and Olafur Darri Olafsson co-star, and Breck Eisner directs from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

The film centers on a semi-immortal witch hunter (Diesel) wandering the streets of modern New York City who is forced to partner with his natural enemy, a female witch (Leslie).

Synopsis
Five hundred years ago, war raged between humankind and witches, vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe, including Kaulder (Vin Diesel), a valiant warrior who managed to slay an all-powerful Queen Witch, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments before her death, the Queen exacted her revenge by cursing Kaulder with immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Kaulder has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones.

Today, he is the only one of his kind–-the last witch hunter. With the help of Father Dolan, a Catholic priest, and a mystical arsenal hidden beneath New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral, he continues to pursue the renegades and outlaws who endanger humanity. Chief among their adversaries is Belial, a powerful rebel witch who Kaulder believes has found a way to restore the Queen Witch to power and reignite her campaign to destroy the human world.

With the help of Chloe, a goodhearted young witch (Rose Leslie), Kaulder sets out to stop Belial before he can set his plan in motion, but allies in unexpected places keep the evil witch one step ahead in a cunning cat-and-mouse pursuit that will determine the survival of the human race.

Full Details on Scream Factory's Nightbreed Director's Cut Emerge from MidianWell, Nightbreed fans, the moment you've been waiting for has finally arrived. A couple months after the exciting original announcement, Scream Factory has just revealed full details on the two different versions of its Director's Cut Blu-ray release of the film...

...and you're going to be blown away by all the goodies included on the discs.

But first, a few words from the offices of the film's writer/director, Clive Barker!

"The ‘Nightbreed Director’s Cut’ is an entirely different film than the one which was released in theaters," writes Barker's team about the release. "It's 20 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, but it contains over 40 minutes of new and altered footage. Clive oversaw the reconstruction and edit himself, personally ensuring that, at long last, he was able to tell the story he always wanted to tell but, until now, had never been given the chance. Once the scenes were reordered, and the original film footage restored, the entire film received a brand new sound mix and color pass. It is, in every way, a different movie. It contains more story, more monsters, and there’s even a musical number. Ultimately, what we’ve delivered is a love story 25 years in the making."

Those who order the Limited Edition set directly from ScreamfactoryDVD.com will also receive an exclusive 18”x24” poster of the newly designed artwork (available while supplies last)! The Scream Factory site will also receive the first 1,000 numbered copies.

Boone (Craig Sheffer) may be a troubled young man, but his troubles are just beginning. Set up as the fall guy in a string of slasher murders, he decides he’ll hide by crossing the threshold that separates “us” from “them” and sneak into the forbidden subterranean realm of Midian. Boone will live among the monsters. Hellraiser creator Clive Barker writes (adapting his novel Cabal) and directs this vivid leap into horror that asks: In the battle of man vs. monster, who’s really the monster? The answer supplies flesh-crawling suspense, sudden fear, a colorful Danny Elfman score, and a creepy array of shape-shifting beings. They are the Nightbreed, denizens of a world beyond death, beyond the imagination, perhaps beyond anything you’ve seen.

The Gasp Menagerie: Unexplained Red Lights Appear in the Pacific

    $

    0

The Gasp Menagerie: Unexplained Red Lights Appear in the PacificI don't like flying. Let me just get that out of the way. I'm not afraid of it. It does make me nervous, but that doesn't really equate with fear. It's uncomfortable as I'm a tall and wide guy. And It's inherently inconvenient as you're trapped in one place for up to hours on end.

It troubles me because it feels like we're having an argument with gravity and God. "No, I know you wanted us stuck to the ground, but never mind that, we're going to throw ourselves into the air in a big metal thing built by the lowest bidder and defy every law of physics that normally applies to us."

Landing is always a relief because it feels like we're admitting that we were wrong and apologizing by agreeing with the laws of physics by returning to the ground.

    Don't judge me.

That said, this story would have seriously turned my nerves into outright William Shatner on "Twilight Zone" panic.

The Daily Mail reports that a Dutch airliner was flying from Hong Kong to Anchorage, Alaska, at night recently. They were just south of the Russian Kamchatka peninsula when the Pacific, far below them, lit up bright red. It started with what looked like a lightning strike vertically, straight down from the sky to the area of the lights, despite there being no storms in the area.

Easy to spot with clear skies below them, this must have been a massive outburst of energy based on the scale of the photos seen in the story. An intercontinental airliner flies a high altitudes, but the phenomenon fills their window and photo frame.

The pilot, JPC van Heijst, was left disturbed simply because there seems to be no logical explanation. The current theory is a massive underground volcano, but there has never been a report of such lights sighted during such an eruption. Squid boats (that use LED lights) were also ruled out due to the scale of the event.

What do you think? Alien spacecraft launching from the ocean floor into space? Unknown, massive aquatic life? The Doctor punching the Tardis out of an undersea Dalek stronghold while it explodes?

Former Porn Queen Ginger Lynn Allen Enters the House of Many SorrowsGinger Lynn Allen (aka Ginger Lynn) is a very familiar name to those of us who've reached and are enjoying adulthood. Ginger is making her return to acting in the horror flick House of Many Sorrows, and we have your first stills and more!

    From the Press Release
Legendary Adult Film Star Ginger Lynn Allen has wrapped filming her role in the upcoming horror movie HOUSE OF MANY SORROWS. Shot just outside the small town of Killam, Alberta, HOUSE OF MANY SORROWS is about a young man who takes over his mother's bed and breakfast establishment. Strange things soon begin happening, and people begin disappearing and dying.

Allen plays the role of Jocelyn Mathers, who has a bad attitude in the movie. “I was very excited to land this role, and working with director Barry J. Gillis has been a pleasure,” states Allen. “I found this role to be very, very fulfilling. Barry also let me incorporate a few of my own ideas into the role, and that was really satisfying.”

Outside of her adult film career Allen has acted in Young Guns 2, The Devil's Rejects, Vice Academy, and a slew of other roles. Her role in Metallica's "Turn the Page" video is legendary.

“Ginger was great,” chimes in director Gillis. “I was looking for someone who could play the role of a bad girl, and Ginger was larger than life. I believe people are going to really like her performance in the movie. She also brought so much energy and charisma to the set. I would definitively recommend Ginger to anybody out there making movies.”

HOUSE OF MANY SORROWS is written, produced, and directed by Barry J. Gillis. It also stars Tom Malloy along with Kim Sonderholm. “I believe that I got the best performances that a director could possibly get out of Tom Malloy and Kim Sonderholm. Both actors were phenomenal,” Gillis says. A few up-and-coming actors and actresses such as Samantha Brownlee, Nella Virga, Betty Maxwell, and Jolene Mackenzie round out the cast.

“This movie is beyond any other movie that I have ever created,” Gillis states. My cinematographer, Gabriel Yee, understood exactly what I was looking for, and he delivered in every way possible. This guy is phenomenal, and this movie is going to blow away the audience.”

HOUSE OF MANY SORROWS is set to be released sometime in 2015.

Synapse Giving Demons and Demons 2 Bare Bones Blu-ray Releases

Synapse Giving Demons and Demons 2 Bare Bones Blu-ray ReleasesAt the tail end of last year, Synapse Films released limited edition steelbook versions of Italian horror flicks Demons and Demons 2 on Blu-ray, which were packed with bonus features and sold out before most fans could say "Geretta Geretta."

As reported today by DVD Active, this November Synapse will be re-releasing both of the cult favorites onto Blu-ray, leaving behind the steelbook cases as well as the bonus content. Why is this noteworthy? Because the discs at long last give those of us who missed out on last year's souped up releases the chance to own the films in high-def without breaking the bank.

The site reports that the bare bones discs will likely have none of the exclusive extras that were available on the limited releases, though they note that both releases will include high-definition 1080p transfers taken from original vault materials in the 1.66:1 aspect ratio, featuring all-new color correction.

Demons will contain both the international English stereo language soundtrack, as well as the U.S. Mono English alternate dub soundtrack, while Demons 2 will include only the international English language stereo track. Both movies will also feature their original U.S. theatrical trailers and newly-translated English SDH subtitles.

The new releases will also be available on bare bones DVDs, and the release date is set for November 11th.
