We originally ran the second still from Oren Peli's latest project, Chernobyl Diaires, last week via the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, but now thanks to the main himself we have the whole official enchilada. Dig it!

Chernobyl Diaries, an original story by Paranormal Activity mastermind Peli, is set in the city of Prypiat, which once housed the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. It's written by Peli, Carey Van Dyke, and Shane Van Dyke and directed by Brad Parker.

Production took place in September and October 2011 in Eastern Europe with Peli and Brian Witten (Dark City) producing. Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are exec producers. It was financed and sold internationally by FilmNation Entertainment, and Warner Bros. will be releasing it later this year on Memorial Day weekend.

Synopsis:
Chernobyl Diaries follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an "extreme tour" guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon find themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone...

Synopsis

It's Sunday night, which means HBO has released a new promo for Season 5 of "True Blood", and this one - another "waiting sucks" themed video - features the characters of Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick (Scott Foley). Once again we have both the short and extended HBO GO versions.

Another found footage flick is heading our way, and this one tells the tale of a missing documentary film crew and a roaming beast looking for a desperate meal. Check out The Harper's Field Footage's first trailer, concept artwork, and a few stills.

Synopsis:
In late 2010 an information assurance manager and hunting enthusiast went into the San Bernardino mountains to kill an elusive man-eating bear. His estranged son, filmmaker John Muscarnero, set out to document this search in his next film.

Armed with a few cameras and a small crew, including John's roommate, his girlfriend, and his producing partner on their last film Dark Woods, they set out to film his father hunting the killer bear. The tragedy that they would eventually find and film would become known as The Harper's Field Footage.

The film is written and directed by John Muscarnero; produced by Mark Shady, Mariah Davis, Cindy Zingg, JJ Stevens, John Zingg, Michael Escobedo, and Kevin Day; and stars John Muscarnero, Kevin Day, Chloe Moore, Mark Shady, and John Muscarnero II.

During an interview with WGN Murray was asked about the long talked about flick and instead of the emphatic "no" we've been hearing for days ... weeks ... months ... we get this - it's still a "possibility." Why? Just why?

Somebody has better tell Dan Aykroyd because last we heard from him, "it's in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman, and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn't want to be involved."

Sissy Spacek played the character in the first movie, with Piper Laurie playing her mother, and Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, John Travolta, Betty Buckley and William Katt rounding out the cast. Both Spacek and Laurie got Oscar nominations for their work in the 1976 film.

I always joked that if I were a woman I would be eyeballing anything that would ... um ... fit in terms of self pleasure, but even I would have to draw the line here. One word, kids, YIKES!

Synopsis
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the "Big H Radio Team".

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, "a gift from the Lords". She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords' record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later Whitey plays the Lords' record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they're out for BLOOD.

Time for some video, kids! On tap for you next is the first clip from Vincent Cassel's latest flick, The Monk. Fill you Super-soaker with holy water and start spraying! Huzzah!

The flick, also starring Deborah Francois, Sergi Lopez, and Geraldine Chaplin (The Orphanage), is an 18th century-set thriller based on Matthew Lewis' Gothic novel. French-German director Dominik Moll is at the helm.

Synopsis:
The Monk concerns a Spanish monk named Ambrosio and his violent downfall. He is undone by carnal lust for his pupil, a woman disguised as a monk, who is eventually revealed as an instrument of Satan in female form, who has orchestrated Ambrosio's downfall from the start.

The new spookfest from director Vincenzo Natali, Haunter, has begun principal photography in Toronto and we've got a full casting update for you fresh and chilly! Dig it!

From Copperheart Entertainment, the flick stars the previously announced Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Rango, Little Miss Sunshine), along with Stephen McHattie (300, Watchmen, Immortals, Pontypool), Peter Outerbridge (Silent Hill: Revelation, Lucky Number Slevin), Michelle Nolden (Red, Time Traveler’s Wife) and David Hewlett (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

In this reverse ghost story “teenage Lisa (Breslin) and her family died in 1986 under sinister circumstances but remain trapped in their house, unable to move on. Lisa must reach out from beyond the grave to help her present-day, living counterpart, Olivia, avoid the same fate Lisa and her family suffered.”

Haunter, directed by Vincenzo Natali from a screenplay written by Brian King (Cypher, Night Train), is produced by Steven Hoban (Splice, Ryan, Ginger Snaps trilogy), and co-produced by Mark Smith (388 Arletta Avenue, The Spine). Principal photography will run from April 16 until May 19, 2012 in Toronto and Brantford. Release is slated for 2013.

“‘Haunter’ vividly demonstrates that even ghosts have a lot to be afraid of. Brian King’s script constructs a Borgian Labyrinth out of the most mundane settings and shows us how even in our everyday lives, we are spirits living in the material world,” said Natali.

Around these parts we love us some Trent Haaga. The man is quickly rising through the horror ranks by delivering one insanely good horror flick after the other. With Deadgirl and Chop already under his belt, his new flick is bound to give you the Heebie Jeebies.

Some really juicy possible casting news has hit the interwebs via our brothers in harm over at Bloody Disgusting. They're reporting that Columbia Pictures is speaking closely with Julianne Moore to portray the thoroughly crazed mother of Carrie White in the remake of Carrie starring Chloe Moretz.

The official plot crunch for the American remake of the Japanese flick, 2LDK, has come our way so we figured we'd better update you guys to keep you on top of things. Read on for the skinny!

Gemma Arterton (pictured right) is in negotiations to star in The Wright Girls, a dark comedy-thriller from Relativity and Atlas Entertainment.

Synopsis
Vanessa and Katie are best friends and roommates who are living the Hollywood dream by starring together on a hit television show. Ambitious and eager to advance their careers, the two both set their sights on the same choice movie role. A wicked game of sabotage begins, which soon escalates into a visceral, bloody catfight filled with violence, mutilation... and nearly murder. Filled with dark, twisted, horrific fun, The Wright Girls is based on the Japanese cult classic 2LDK, and penned by Bert Royal, (Easy A).

Oh the goddamn creepy, crawlies…they skeev me out just thinking about them. Ugh. Well, if you love the eight-legged baddies as much as I do, we've got a couple of memorable shorts for you today with Spider on the Ceiling and Scratch.

We don't usually combine two shorts into one article, but these two worked so well together, and thanks to horror hound Avery G for the tip on these two.

The first film is entitled Spider on the Ceiling. It's from Australia, just like the huntsman spider which stars in the movie. Spider on the Ceiling was directed by Anthony O'Neill and stars Steve Danielsen, Camilla Jackson and Steve Carroll. It's a creepy little five-minute piece with a nice comedic twist and great sense of humor.

The second feature is Scratch. No comedy in this one, just a slow build of suspense to a nice finish. Ethan Snell directs and Andy Barth is the featured performer. The film was shot by Stephen Watson.

In Xavier Gens’ The Divide actor Courtney B. Vance ends up being one of the ‘lucky’ ones who manage to escape a catastrophic explosion in New York City by hiding out in the basement of his apartment building along with a handful of other survivors.

But as the days pass and their hope begins to wane, that’s when both the tension and violence begins to escalate amongst the survivors, demonstrating that perhaps it’s best not to survive the end of the world as those remaining are pushed to deeply depraved and selfish acts as they spend more time trapped together in the basement.

This week, The Divide is heading to DVD and Blu-ray shelves everywhere courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment and in honor of its upcoming release, Dread Central had the opportunity to chat with one of the film’s co-stars, Courtney B. Vance, who discussed his thoughts on the project and gave us more insight as to what happened on the set of The Divide as well.

Dread Central: Can you talk about what attracted you to The Divide and what your thoughts were about the script when you first read it?

Courtney B. Vance: This movie is just death and destruction and then even more destruction. It was so powerful the first time I read it but I knew when I did, I wanted to be a part of it. I will say though that a big part of that was Xavier himself; I was enthralled by him and I knew this was going to be one of the biggest challenges I was ever going to face as an actor, so how could I not do it?

The thing about Xavier is that when we were making this, his English still wasn’t that strong so we had to communicate with him through this story a lot of the time and that’s the beauty of someone like him- he’s such a brilliant storyteller that it was on all of us in this movie to tell this story for him in a way. But Xavier did some masterful work on The Divide and I’d work with him again in a heartbeat.

Dread Central: We’ve heard that you guys faced some real-life horror while making this movie. How much of that did you see while working on set?

Courtney B. Vance: I won’t lie; it was incredibly difficult being stuck in that basement for the entire shoot; being cooped up like that really does play with your mind. There was nowhere for us to escape to either; we were locked in this one location and you just had to ‘deal’ with everything and everyone while the tension began to rise on set.

I don’t necessarily feel like this is giving too much away because this isn’t one of those happy movies where everyone rise off into the sunset at the end but since I was one of the earlier characters to go in The Divide, I think I got off pretty lucky compared to some of the cast since they still had a few weeks of shooting after I was wrapped. I mean, I felt a little stir crazy while I was on set so I couldn’t imagine what a few more weeks would have felt like. I guess I got off lucky- not that any of our characters were really lucky if you think about (laughs).

Dread Central: What resonated most with me on The Divide is that generally post-apocalyptic stories these days have an element of hope to them and yet this movie doesn’t have that at all; was that something you recognized as well- that this story was definitely outside of the box?

Courtney B. Vance: I loved that this wasn’t your typical apocalypse movie; there’s this great moment very early on where these guys in Hazmat suits show up and you think that the cavalry have shown up to save the day but that’s not the case at all. And that moment is where everything in The Divide changes- we all realize that we’re alone in the world and that no one is coming to save us. There is no salvation to be had in this world and that’s when the worst in all of our characters begins to come out. We sort of joked that even though we were all adults that our characters were really acting like a bunch of selfish three-year-olds who have that “me, mine” mentality.

The truth is that in the real world, our society is starting to slip deeper and deeper into that mentality which is pretty scary if you think about it. Everyone seems to forget about that ‘Golden Rule’ we all learned as kids- treat others as you want to be treated and as we continue to live life ignoring this rule, that’s the beginning of the decline of our world as a whole.

Dread Central: After this and Final Destination 5, I love that you keep popping up in the genre world lately; any plans on doing more horror projects in the future? What’s coming up for you?

Courtney B. Vance: I’m not 100 percent sure what will be the very next thing I do really; I’ve got a few pilots out there right now I’m just waiting to hear about as well as a project in development that will have me working behind the camera for a change. Hopefully we’ll get to shoot that by the end of this summer. But I do love doing these kinds of movies and would definitely want to do more if given the opportunity.

Green Day will release a three-album trilogy called ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre! on September 25, November 13 and January 15, respectfully, via Reprise Records.

As I Lay Dying will enter the studio next month with producer Bill Stevenson to record a new album. The effort is due out later this year on Metal Blade Records.

Architects guitarist Tim Hillier-Brook has left the band. Josh Middleton (ex-Sylosis) will be filling in.

Vampires Everywhere! will release their sophomore album, Hellbound and Heartless, on June 19 via Hollywood Waste Records.

NOFX are in the studio recording a new album with producer Bill Stevenson.
