Danny Trejo and More Join From Dusk Till Dawn the Series

0
0

Can’t say we didn’t see this coming but our main question is… What took so long?!?!? Danny Trejo is once again ready to put the bite on in Robert Rodriguez’s reimagining of his feature film From Dusk Till Dawn along with the newly cast Briana Evigan.

From the Press Release:
El Rey Network and Miramax announced today that Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills) has joined the sophomore season of Robert Rodriguez’s “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.” Trejo has been cast in the roll of “The Regulator,” a horrifying agent of evil who has been summoned to perform a deadly errand. Trejo appeared in the “From Dusk Till Dawn” film franchise as “Razor Charlie.”

Trejo has had a prolific career in the entertainment industry, yet his road to success has been hard earned and anything but typical, spanning imprisonment to helping young people battle drug addiction, to acting and producing. Trejo has starred in dozens of films including Desperado, Heat, the From Dusk Till Dawn film series, Con Air, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, the Spy Kids movies, Grindhouse, Machete, Machete Kills, Dead In Tombstone and Muppets Most Wanted. He can be heard as the voice of Skeleton Luis in The Book Of Life. Danny’s recent television work includes his first series regular role on the FX show Saint George, as well as an appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles. He has had recurring roles on Sons of Anarchy and King of the Hill, and has appeared on episodes of Franklin and Bash, Bones, Modern Family, and Breaking Bad. He has also voiced characters for Cartoon Network’s Young Justice and The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange. He can currently be seen in the Super Clio Award winning Snickers commercial where he plays the blonde high school student, Marcia Brady.

Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) has also joined the cast of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” as Sonja – an American expatriate working as a tattoo artist in a Mexican Mercado – who also has a sideline forging papers and passports out of her back room. The returning cast includes: D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, G.I. Joe: Retaliation); Zane Holtz (Holes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower); Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera, Sons of Anarchy); Eiza González (Lola: Érase Una Vez); Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show, To Whom It May Concern); Madison Davenport (Noah, Shameless); and Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game, Incredible Crew).

Season one of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” centered on bank robber Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who were on the run to Mexico when they encountered former pastor Jacob Fuller (Robert Patrick) and his family, who were taken hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensued when the group detoured to the Titty Twister, a strip club populated by culebras, snake-like ancient creatures who survive by drinking human blood. They were forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive.

Season Two explores a new chapter in this supernatural crime saga that travels from Mexico to the edgy, tricked-out Texas of Robert Rodriguez. It also deepens and complicates the core relationships between the characters, while adding new faces and new dynamics. Season Two begins with our characters in their separate worlds – Santanico (Gonzalez) and Richie (Holtz) are outside Houston, living like Bonnie and Clyde; Seth and Kate (Madison Davenport) are scraping by South of the Border; and Freddie Gonzalez (Jessie Garcia) is protecting his wife and young daughter in a Houston suburb. And Carlos Madrigal (Valderrama) and Scott Fuller (Brandon Soo-Hoo) emerge from the Titty Twister, changed men. They will all come together once again – this time facing off against an even bigger threat.

“From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” is a Miramax production in association with Rodriguez International Pictures, FactoryMade Ventures, and Sugarcane Entertainment. Executive producers are Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Coto (also showrunner), Diego Gutierrez (also writer) and FactoryMade Ventures and El Rey Network co-founders John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa.

Miramax is distributing “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” internationally in all territories.

Exclusive – David Robert Mitchell Talks It Follows

0

With his highly anticipated teenage horror head trip, It Follows (review), David Robert Mitchell has finally wrestled his own childhood nightmare to the ground and managed to capture it on celluloid. Bad dreams tend to make great movies and Mitchell has crafted a frightening film that has the comforts of sleep along with the unnerving feeling of a dream world you desperately want to make sense of but can’t. In the interview below, Mitchell talks about his inspiration for It Follows and his reluctance to say too much about what it all means. That’s for us to decide.

After watching The Myth of the American Sleepover for the first time last night, I appreciated the style and setup of It Follows even more. You have the same mood in both.

DRM: There’s some total similarity.

DC: Do you consider them to be sister films?

DRM: A little bit, yeah. One of my best friends, he edited both – Myth and It Follows – and I remember when I shared the script for It Follows, he finished it and he was like, ‘This is like a sequel to Myth. It’s just this fucked up nightmare sequel!’ We started laughing about it. When I was working on the script, I had just made Myth because I wrote It Follows in 2011 and I did imagine a similar sort of world in the sense that I imagined characters like the characters from Myth but a little bit older and in that similar environment. What would would happen if they were in the middle of a nightmare?

DC: You’ve obviously been talking about the film a lot. How have you been describing the mythology of the film? People don’t really know what the “It” in It Follows really is. There’s a dream-like quality to your films and this idea originally came from a nightmare you had, right?

DRM: It came from a recurring nightmare that I had when I was really young. A lot of elements of the film truly came from that nightmare. I was being followed by monsters, I instinctively knew it was a monster the way you do in a dream where you just know things. I saw it but it would just look like different people. i remember one moment, I was playing with friends and saw this other kid walking towards me and kind of knew that this was some kind of vampire monster. It was walking very slow and coming straight for me and my friends didn’t see him. I could run away and I could get away but he would just keep coming.

David Robert Mitchell

DC: It’s that out-of-placeness, too, that it is really alarming.

DRM: Yeah, totally. I always remembered that nightmare and always wanted to make a horror film. Much later as an adult, I added the sexual element and a bunch of other stuff … The way I see it is these characters are immersed in a nightmare and there isn’t a logical way you can climb out of a nightmare. If it becomes about them solving the origin, I wanted to avoid that. And there are a lot of horror films that do that and there are some that I like and some that I don’t in terms of when it turns into that. Often times, it can be a really interesting idea and I’m really interested in how the characters would react to this nightmare and then it becomes about solving something.

DC: Usually when it’s sequelized.

DRM: Often times, yes, because you don’t know where to go that often becomes a part of it. I didn’t want to do that with this because, to me, the moment you do that it becomes too logical. It becomes something that’s more grounded in the real world, in our world. It’s either that or it has to become magic and it all becomes about finding the root of magic. To me, a nightmare doesn’t need to rely on magic. Some people may be frustrated by that and some people may like that. I’m not sure where you fall in that.

DC: I’m not frustrated by it. What’s interesting though is that I think the film improves on multiple viewings. Do you think that there are some answers there once you uncover some of the layers? The rules that are in place, for instance.

DRM: Well, the rules are not really my rules. They’re rules that one character has been able to work out for themselves based on what they’ve been going through. We’re not privy to everything they’ve gone through. Some of that is within the movie, some of it you can kind of find. Even looking at the first girl that we see in the film. What is her relationship to these characters? If you think about that, it’ll start to kind of inform how he may be starting to figure this out for himself. But this is his interpretation of what he’s seeing. It may not even be 100 percent accurate. It’s the rules that he’s following.

Follow It Follows into theaters Friday March 13th!

With a riveting central performance from Maika Monroe and a strikingly ominous electronic score by Disasterpeace, It Follows is an artful psychosexual thriller from David Robert Mitchell (The Myth of the American Sleepover).

Synopsis:
For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe, AT ANY PRICE), the fall should be about school, boys, and weekends at the lake. Yet, after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. Blacula / Scream Blacula Scream (Blu-ray)

BlaculaStarring William H. Marshall, Thalmus Rasulala, Vonetta Williams, Pam Grier, Richard Lawson

Directed by William Crain and Bob Kelljan

Distributed by The Scream Factory

“Say, man, that is one strange dude… who is he?”

He’s Blacula.

In the early ‘70s, black cinema exploded onto screens across the nation when hits such as Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song (1971) and Shaft (1971) proved there was an audience hungry for urban drama focused on African Americans, offering a glimpse into their world. By the following year of 1972, the number of “blaxploitation” films increased more than fourfold, spawning a new genre and giving a voice to black filmmakers and actors who now had a platform with which to tell their stories. The movement may have only lasted a few years (by 1977 titles were trickling out), but blaxploitation left an indelible mark on cinema and bestowed upon audiences a handful of classic pictures.

One such enduring film is Blacula (1972), the first blaxploitation horror picture. Heavy cues are taken from past Dracula adaptations, but this entry is firmly rooted in African American culture due to the prevalence of jive-talkin’, tweed jackets and afros aplenty. Classically trained actor William H. Marshall stars as the title character, whose actual name is Mamuwalde, an African prince who, in 1780, travels to Transylvania on a diplomatic mission to put an end to the slave trade. There, he meets with Dracula (Charles Macaulay), who not only refuses to help Mamuwalde in his quest but also attacks him and his wife, Luva (Vonetta McGee). Mamuwalde fights back fiercely, but a bite from Dracula seals his fate and, in an ironic twist, sees him turned into a slave who now seeks blood to quench his undying thirst. He’s also rechristened “Blacula” by Dracula, a name which is oddly enough never again uttered during the film. Mamuwalde is sealed up in a coffin, inside a crypt, along his wife, Luva, who eventually dies by her man’s side.

Cut to nearly two centuries later and the contents of Dracula’s castle have been put up for auction, purchased by a couple of interior decorators who have plans for these antiques back home in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, however, Mamuwalde is awakened and quickly dispatches the couple. At the funeral service for one of the men, Mamuwalde inconspicuously watches the mourners, with Tina (Vonetta Williams) catching his eye as the apparent reincarnation of his beloved Luva. When he’s not busy feeding on the citizens of L.A., Mamuwalde is at his charming best, seductively romancing Tina, who is falling under his hypnotic spell. One of Tina’s acquaintances, Dr. Gordon Thomas (Thalmus Rasulala), however, has found bite marks consistent with vampire lore on the neck of a victim, and is convinced there may be one of the undead on the city streets. When Gordon digs up a recently deceased victim and is met by a pair of snarling fangs, his suspicions are confirmed. Working with the police, Gordon takes down a warehouse filled with blood suckers, while Mamuwalde and Tina attempt to flee together and preserve their love.

First and foremost, the onus of the film’s success rests squarely on the broad shoulders of William H. Marshall. The actor’s imposing physique belies his Shakespearean line delivery and effortless charm, bolstered by a smooth baritone voice that should have been cutting slow jam records, a la Barry White. Of interesting note is that Marshall wanted Mamuwalde to be more than just “Black Dracula”, going so far as to see his character’s name was changed from the generic “Andrew Brown” and given a backstory rich in African culture and focused on his attempt to stop slavery. His noble intentions give the film its ironic twist of fate. As with most vampires, Mamuwalde is typical in that he can be oozing seduction one minute, then lapping at an oozing neck like a monster the next. There’s a clear dichotomy to the character, because once he’s in full-on vamp mode his actions are feral and instinctual; the amiable man is left entirely. There’s only one oddity to his performance… The man has been sealed up in a casket since 1780, and when he awakens in present day Los Angeles there isn’t a single scene of his amazement at how the world has changed. A whole helluva lot happened in two centuries, so you’d think the man would show some sense of wonder.

Also atypical for a horror picture is the film’s score, courtesy of composer Gene Page, an arranger for such hit acts as The Four Tops, The Temptations and Barry White. There isn’t a lick of traditional horror movie motifs to be heard. Instead, the score is filled almost exclusively with music endemic to blaxploitation and black culture, giving Blacula a more soulful, funky edge than any other genre picture up to that point. The main theme could have come right out of Shaft, or been on a Brothers Johnson album.

From the Saul Bass-esque title credits right up through the surprisingly gallant, bittersweet ending Blacula has long cemented its status as one of the seminal cult classics of all-time. Even the title has been elevated to use as a colloquialism; any black guy who dresses as a vampire is automatically Blacula. This reminds me of The Simpsons (1989-present) episode where Dr. Hibbert, dressed as a vampire, is called Blacula and exclaims, “Oh, because I’m black and I’m Dracula, that makes me Blacula?” It’s in the cultural lexicon to stay. Complaints the film is amateurish, poorly acted, weak or unsatisfying were made by people who clearly don’t want to have fun with a movie.

Where there’s a hit, there’s usually a sequel, and Blacula got its follow-up just one year later in the form of Scream Blacula Scream (1973). Marshall returns as Mamuwalde, with Pam Grier (who was in the midst of a major hot streak) joining the cast as a potential love interest for the undead prince. Grier plays Lisa, the chosen successor of a late high voodoo priestess who opts for her over Willis (Richard Lawson), the priestess’ immature son. Upset at his dead mother’s decision, Willis acquires the bones of Mamuwalde in hopes that a voodoo ritual will bring the vampire back to life, whereupon he’ll have Mamuwalde do his bidding. The ritual works – but not as Willis intended. Mamuwalde isn’t controllable, and in another ironic series twist Willis winds up the unwitting servant to his conjured Prince of Darkness.

As Willis increases the vamp stable in his home through nightly feedings, Mamuwalde is a man about town, winding up at a party thrown by former detective Justin Carter (Richard Lawson). Justin is showing off his collection of rare African artifacts which, unbeknownst to him, were excavated from the region where Mamuwalde was once prince. Also at this party is Lisa, Justin’s girlfriend and the burgeoning voodoo priestess. She immediately takes a liking to Mamuwalde, who reciprocates because Lisa is incredibly foxy, and because her voodoo powers may be his ticket to lifting the curse which Dracula placed upon him centuries ago. Justin, meanwhile, works with some of his local police buddies to find who’s responsible for a string of murders in the area – murders committed by Mamuwalde, Willis and their growing brood. Things naturally come to a head in the third act, where Justin & co. storm Willis’ home and fight the vampiric residents, while Mamuwalde and Lisa attempt to lift his eternal burden.

Though not as good as the first film, Scream Blacula Scream is a surprisingly worthwhile follow-up that employs another trait common to a handful of blaxploitation films: voodoo. This approach helps differentiate the film enough that it doesn’t feel like a total rehash of events. Stylistically, many similarities are apparent including the opening titles, musical score (by a different composer) and overall aesthetics. Marshall once again plays Mamuwalde with a strong sense of dignity and class, and he flips it completely around when the fangs are bared. This time around Mamuwalde gets to show off a bit of his muscle. In one of the film’s best scenes, a couple of muggers try to get rough with the dark prince. Both quickly learn this was a mistake. And finally, for the first time in the series Mamuwalde actually refers to himself as Blacula, although his declaration doesn’t come until the film is nearly over. It’s funny that he’s christened Blacula at the opening of the first film, yet the name is never heard again until there are around seven minutes left in the sequel.

Blacula and Scream Blacula Scream are both highly entertaining slices of vintage cinema, featuring much of what makes blaxploitation films so damn enjoyable. William H. Marshall adds more gravitas than anyone who hasn’t seen these films would expect, delivering a powerful nuanced performance that, frankly, could have carried into another film or two. All hail Scream Factory for putting together a solid double feature for fans of these funky bloodsuckers.

The 1.85:1 1080p images for both Blacula and Scream Blacula Scream are very similar, with each getting a major upgrade over previous DVD editions thanks to some spiffy HD transfers made at MGM. Each print is immaculate, with extremely few hints of dirt or debris. Detail is highly apparent in every scene, with little background elements enjoying increased clarity. Colors look sharp and well-saturated, and black levels remains mostly stable throughout – a few shot here and there look hazy, nothing terrible. Grain is left in place, giving both films the proper aged ‘70s aesthetic.

Each film features an English DTS-HD MA 2.0 mono track, both of which are clear, clean and free from any hisses or pops. The sound design on these films is hardly dynamic, with a minimum level of separation among different elements. Dialogue sounds a bit low during a couple scenes where location sound was clearly used, though the majority of the tracks present it balanced among effects and music. The musical numbers and source tracks used on the soundtrack sound full and have presence. Subtitles are included in English.

Blacula features a commentary with author/film historian/filmmaker David F. Walker. This guy is prepared, excited and immediately begins rattling off once the picture gets underway, joking that most listeners probably have no clue who he is but he’ll explain why he’s here in a bit. He does, and he also delivers a lot of background information on the film’s production and actors.

Scream Blacula Scream star Richard Lawson provides an interview, running for just over 13 minutes. The actor describes how he didn’t even get the part he eventually wound up playing. He’s also apparently very skilled at reading a light meter based solely on how hot it feels on his skin.

Both films also feature a photo gallery and trailer among their respective bonus features.

From the Press Release:
Today, Tripwire Interactive returns with the release of the latest installment in its multi-part developer diary series for the highly anticipated PC and PlayStation®4 title, KILLING FLOOR 2. In a continuation of Weapons and Perks: Part 1, the newest video, Weapons and Perks: Part 2 takes aim at what KILLING FLOOR 2 has in store in its heavy arsenal. For starters, the team pairs each perk with a specialized base weapon and grenade. Players can then customize their specific perk skills as they progress in the game to suit their Zed-slaying style. With Tripwire Interactive’s superb track record of creating realistic, fast-paced action weapons, they’ve worked hard to perfect the art of gratifying weaponry in KILLING FLOOR 2.

Blending functionality and realism with high-frame rate animations, KILLING FLOOR 2 features weapon animations that clock in blazing fast at over 200 frames-per-second compared to the average of 30 FPS found in most First Person Shooters. With the return of Zed Time, which has been enhanced for KILLING FLOOR 2, players will be seeing nothing but red!

In KILLING FLOOR 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. No official release date has been yet, but the film is expected sometime in April.

Written and directed by Butler, The Scopia Effect stars Joanna Ignaczewska, Louis Labovitch, and Akira Koieyama.

Synopsis:

Set in London, Scopia follows ordinary white-collar office worker, Basia, who after suffering mild depression undergoes hypnotic regression with specialist Dr Edward Stanton. No sooner do these treatments start (somewhat unorthodox in nature) that Basia’s flashbacks caused during regression appear to be not only of a troubled childhood but also of troubled past lives. As these memories gush forth, the vivid and warm memories of her young mother’s kindness subside and start to give way to dark forces that seek to disrupt and destroy her. As Basia struggles to hold these dark forces from breaking through into her present, she increasingly struggles to retain her sanity and the ability to fight back. There is a way out but it is hardest path to take, shaking her humanity to the very core.

Scientists Determine Safest U.S. Locations During Zombie Apocalypse

What’s the safest place to head during the outbreak of a zombie apocalypse? A bunch of really smart guys sat down and did all figuring for you. Read on to know in which direction you should run screaming when the shizzy hits the fizzy.

Entitled You Can Run, You Can Hide: The Epidemiology and Statistical Mechanics of Zombies by Alexander A. Alemi, Matthew Bierbaum, Christopher R. Myers, and James P. Sethna of the Laboratory of Atomic and Solid State Physics at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, the study was released on March 4, 2015. That’s right; no less than the brains at Cornell University have come up with this in-depth study. And please take note; we did NOT make the expected zombie/brains joke here. You’re welcome.

The introduction to the study reads as follows: “We use a popular fictional disease, zombies, in order to introduce techniques used in modern epidemiology modelling and ideas and techniques used in the numerical study of critical phenomenon. We consider variants of zombie models, from fully connected continuous time dynamics to a full scale exact stochastic dynamic simulation of a zombie outbreak on the continental United States. Along the way, we offer a closed form analytical expression for the fully connected differential equation and demonstrate that the single person per site two-dimensional square lattice version of zombies lies in the percolation universality class. We end with a quantitative study of the full scale US outbreak, including the average susceptibility of different geographical regions.”

Whew! That’s why these guys are at Cornell. I followed about a tenth of that. Thankfully the study includes plenty of colorful diagrams and illustrated maps that break down exactly what these guys are talking about and where you would be safe and where you would be fucked should said zombie apocalypse ever occur. We might not totally grasp closed form analytical expression or two-dimensional square lattice versions, but you show us a map with a big red circle on New York City, and we get the picture.

“New York City would fall in a matter of days, but Ithaca, where I am, it would take weeks for the zombies to make their way up here,” researcher Alexander A. Alemi said. “It would be a situation where you’re watching chaos on television, but where you are everything would remain unchanged.” So it’s Ithaca or bust!

The report you can access above is totally awesome and incredibly thorough, insanely thorough actually, but the coolest part of the whole study may very well be this interactive zombie outbreak map. You can pinpoint the generation of a zombie anywhere in the continental United States, set the speed and bite-to-kill ratio of the undead, and with the click of a button watch how the outbreak would spread, seeing how long it would take for the walking dead to reach specific areas of the country.

The bottom line confirms what we’ve pretty much already expected: Our cities will be our tombs. New York, Los Angeles, and the major metropolitan areas are basically screwed while the more rural you go, the safer you are. So the decision is yours. Battle zombies or live in Utah? You decide. (No offense, Utah; we love ya!)

Jason Is Coming to Mortal Kombat X!

No day on the calendar is greater than Friday the 13th, and horror gamers just found out why. In honor of the official horror holiday, NetherRealm Studios has just announced that Jason Voorhees will be appearing in the next installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat X.

Jason will not be included in the main roster but will be a member of the Kombat Pack of guest fighters. The Kombat Pack comes included in the Premium Edition, Collector’s Edition, Limited Edition (GameStop exclusive), and Premium Edition of the game and can also be purchased separately for $29.99 USD.

Mortal Kombat X Jason

The series has long been a send-up to horror fans with past editions featuring Freddy Krueger as a guest combatant. Given Jason’s look, which appears to be of the Freddy vs. Jason era, clawmarks on the mask and all, could the gloved one be far behind? It’d be great for gamers to be able live out this maniacal battle royale outside of the film.

Players who pre-order the game will also be able to play as classic character Goro. This news is coupled with the fact that the game will mark the return of brutalities and feature x-ray views of bones being broken mid-fight. Mortal Kombat X may push violence to an all new level.

From the Press Release:
In celebration of Friday 13th today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed details for the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack, the ultimate pass providing fans with Mortal Kombat X downloadable content (DLC), some of which will be available beginning at launch. The Kombat Pack will include access to four playable characters still in development, including horror icon from the Friday the 13th films, Jason Voorhees, as well as two Klassic Mortal Kombat Kombatants and another special guest character. In the Americas, the Kombat Pack is included in the Mortal Kombat X Kollector’s Edition by Coarse, Limited Edition, and Premium Edition and will be available for purchase separately for $29.99.

Starting April 14, 2015, when Mortal Kombat X launches worldwide, fans who purchase the Kombat Pack will receive the Samurai Pack containing three new character skins: Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok, and Jingu Kitana, as well as an accompanying skin pack with each playable character. Kombat Pack owners will gain early access to future DLC content before it is available for sale individually.

With “Salem” Season 2 heading our way on April 5th, WGN America has a special airing this coming Sunday, March 15th, entitled “Salem: Witch War,” which will help get you ready for the show’s return.  Read on for a few more details and a teaser trailer for the 30-minute special plus a new “first look” video and a quick behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Shane West filmed by his co-star Iddo Goldberg.

“Salem: Witch War” (airs 3/15/15 at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET)
A preview of Season 2 explores what’s ahead for the character of Mary Sibley and her shadowy accomplices while also examining the story behind the inception of the TV series “Salem.”

“Salem,” a bold re-imagination of the infamous 17th-century witch trials, returns for Season 2 at the dawn of a Witch War. As the disease and devastation unleashed by a deadly supernatural ritual spread through the war-torn village, Salem’s most powerful witch, Mary Sibley, must face off against adversaries old and new who are vying for her throne.

The series stars Janet Montgomery, Shane West, Seth Gabel, Ashley Madekwe, Tamzin Merchant, Elise Eberle, and Iddo Goldberg.  Season 2 guest stars include Lucy Lawless as Countess Marburg, one of the last descendants of a legendary line of ancient German witches; Stuart Townsend as Samuel Wainwright, a mysterious doctor looking to uncover the secrets of Salem as he keeps a few of his own; Joe Doyle as Baron Sebastian Marburg, the charming and cultured son of the Countess; and Oliver Bell as Mary’s long-lost son, who was revealed in the Season 1 finale to have been secretly kept alive all along by her coven.

From creators and writers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, “Salem” is a gripping one-hour drama that boldly re-imagines the infamous 17th century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts.  “Salem” is executive produced by Braga, Simon, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, and Prospect Park’s Josh Barry and Jeff Kwatinez. Nick Copus directs and serves as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
