The Technomancer Conjures a New Trailer

0
0

In addition to boasting one of the coolest sounding titles of any video game ever, The Technomancer could also be the finest space RPG since the Mass Effect series.

Set on Mars 200 years after human colonization, the game follows Zachariah, the titular Technomancer (someone who combines both magic and technology), as he engages in a war for control of the water on the Red Planet. If only Matt Damon was around.

French developer Spiders is no stranger to the fourth planet from the Sun, as it was responsible for Mars: War Logs, so this should be familiar territory. They’ve been working on it since completing last year’s bestseller Bound by Flame, so hopefully The Technomancer will be their next big hit.

And if the game does turn out to be a dud, well, I guess the awesome title kind of redeems them of everything.

Oh, and side note: Seeing as the developer’s called Spiders, it’s only natural that there are spiders in the game. Big ones too. Yup, head to 1:57 in the trailer…

Muschiettis Producing Supernatural Thriller In Shadows; Update on Stephen King’s IT

Sibling duo Barbara and Andy Muschiette made quite a splash with debut feature Mama, based on their same-named short film from a few years prior. On tap today is the latest on a couple upcoming projects they’re juggling, including an update on the re-adaptation of Stephen King’s IT.

Per Variety, the Muschiette siblings will team with Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder to produce supernatural thriller In Shadows, being directed by brothers Alex and David Pastor (The Last Days, Carriers).

The film centers on Jason, a man who comes out of prison after serving 20 years for an unspeakable crime and is forced to confront the terrible events of his past that sent him there.

Shadows is a twisted coming-of-age story, a dark tale where supernatural horror is a manifestation of the most mundane horror the characters face in their daily lives. Unfolding along two different timelines, the movie explores how the horrors of the past can haunt us all our lives and define us as adults,” David Pastor explained.

We wrote the kind of genre movie that as audience members we long to see: a character-driven horror film that is as scary as it is emotional, a supernatural tale that uses its fantastical elements to explore the darkest impulses of its characters,” Alex Pastor added.

As we learned earlier this year, Andy Muschiette is replacing Cary Fukunaga as director of a two-part feature adaptation of Stephen King’s IT, and Variety reports that shooting on the first part is expected to begin next summer. Casting is under way, and Will Poulter may remain as Pennywise.

King described 50s’ terror iconography. And I feel there’s a whole world now to rediscover, to update. There won’t be mummies, werewolves. Terrors are going to be a lot more surprising,” Andy noted.

World War Z 2 Moving Forward with New Writer

A total of five credited writers had a hand in World War Z‘s troubled production, and so it only makes sense that the upcoming sequel is similarly changing hands. Scheduled for release in the summer of 2017, World War Z 2 is moving forward, and this week brings the latest update.

THR reports that Dennis Kelly, creator of British show “Utopia,” has been enlisted to pen a new draft of the sequel’s screenplay, picking up an earlier draft by Steven Knight (Burnt). Despite recent rumors, it’s looking like Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage) is still on board to direct.

World War Z 2 is scheduled for release on June 9, 2017. Brad Pitt, in addition to reprising his role as Gerry Lane, is producing alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ian Bryce, and Skydance’s David Ellison. Skydance Productions is co-producing and co-financing the film.

We’ll of course report more on this one as we learn it.

One Eyed Girl Sees You in December

Know what scares me? Organized religion. Don’t get me wrong… I do believe there is something out there, but religions have a tendency to be twisted into perversions that barely resemble what would be the word of god, which should be about being good to one another and loving each other. There is without a question… a dark side. Case in point…

From the Press Release:
In the unsettling vein of such eerie modern classics as Martha Marcy May Marlene and We Need to Talk About Kevin comes ONE EYED GIRL, a gripping and award-winning debut film about a young man drawn to a cult-like sect. The thriller comes to digital download and Dark Sky Films Blu-ray and DVD on December 8, 2015.

Travis is a young psychiatrist on the brink of a nervous breakdown after the death of a patient to whom he was inappropriately close. But his life appears to take a change for the better when he meets Grace, a mysterious teenager and the representative of a secret church that promises salvation to even the most troubled of its members.

Intrigued, Travis joins the group and meets its leader, the charismatic Father Jay, who indoctrinates him into the sect’s sometimes radical practices. But when a series of tragedies befalls Father Jay and his flock, Travis must decide if his loyalty truly lies with Father Jay, the ever-elusive Grace, or himself.

Featuring standout performances from each member of its talented cast, ONE EYED GIRL is a dark drama filled with tension and dread that will haunt viewers long after the final frame.

ONE EYED GIRL, the debut feature of director Nick Matthews, won the Austin Film Festival’s Dark Matters Best Film Award. Its sterling cast includes Mark Leonard Winter (The Fear of Darkness), Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Girl Asleep), Steve Le Marquand (Vertical Limit, Kill Me Three Times), Craig Behenna (The Babadook), and Sara West (Mamma Mia!, The Daughter). Erin Free of FilmInk said ONE EYED GIRL “is that enjoyable rarity: a film of big ideas and rich themes that nevertheless grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the credits have rolled” and also called it “an ominous meld of Michael Mann and David Fincher.” The film “explores the dark matters of the soul with an engrossing intensity. The performances are first rate,” said Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter. “An aesthetically confident, gripping debut,” wrote Greg Cwik of Indiewire. The Austin Chronicle’s Marc Savlov called it “a queasy little head trip of the best kind… The suspense is stomach-knotting throughout.”

Scary Stories – A Documentary Trailer to Watch in the Dark

0

Forget Goosebumps. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is the ultimate series of horror books for kids. The controversial series has fallen victim to censorship over the years in addition to frequently being removed from many school libraries. The three books were written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell, and they featured ghosts, wendigos, and other things that freaked kids out.

A new documentary will explore the profound effect that the series has had on its readers and the subsequent controversy that followed their release. Have a look at the first trailer below.

A fiction film based on the series was announced last year but as nothing’s become of it yet, the documentary will be something to allow fans to pass the time until it does eventually enter production.

You can follow the documentary on its official website and on Facebook.

Synopsis:
This intriguing documentary will explore the history and background of one of the most controversial works of modern children’s literature: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. In the 1980s and 1990s in elementary libraries across the United States, these books developed a growing interest from boys and girls who were taken in by the Gothic tales, the whimsical tone, and the ghostly illustrations. Now the Scary Stories book series stands as the most challenged children’s book of the last 30 years and a testament to the power of something that is often taken for granted: a good scary story.

Army of Darkness (Blu-ray)

Army of DarknessStarring Bruce Campbell, Embeth Davidtz, Marcus Gilbert, Ian Abercrombie

Directed by Sam Raimi

Distributed by Scream Factory

Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up! This… is… probably the most definitive edition of Army of Darkness (1992) that will ever be released, and it’s for damn sure a massive upgrade over every home video edition since the movie left theaters. The timing of this release could not be better, with Sam Raimi’s seminal series back in the news due to the premiere of “Ash vs. Evil Dead” (2015- ), an all-new television show that picks up with hero Ashley “Ash” J. Williams (Bruce Campbell) twenty-three years after he was last seen on screens. So, what better time to milk the series’ dedicated fanbase than right now? Let’s face it, you bought the VHS. Maybe you had the LaserDisc. And then came DVD; with it, the Limited Edition, Theatrical Cut, Director’s Cut, Bootleg Edition and Boomstick Edition. If you’re a real nerd, you also bought the R3 Hong Kong DVD of the director’s cut because the extra footage was sourced from 35mm instead of the U.S. release which used clips from 1/16” tape. Once a Blu-ray edition finally arrived a couple years ago, it contained only the theatrical cut, featured weak picture quality and few extras. Enter (who else?) Scream Factory, pulling together a release that should satisfy all but the most nitpicking of fans.

Does anyone need a recap of the film? Army of Darkness has long been in that upper echelon of horror films you need to watch as soon as you have an awareness of horror films. I saw it in theaters when I was eleven and it blew my mind. Raimi’s follow-up to the splatter classic Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn (1987) is a medieval fantasy, featuring a full-scale war between the living and the dead with Ash right in the thick of the action. After plopping down in 14th century London, Ash is promptly captured and sent to the pit by the order of Lord Arthur (Marcus Gilbert). But thanks to his boomstick, chainsaw hand and an old wiseman (Ian Abercrombie), he makes it out alive and shows himself to be the Chosen One. His duty: retrieve the Necronomicon (after saying a few words) and they’ll send him back to his time. He has to speak the words precisely, though, or the army of the dead will awaken and wage war on the living. This is very important so, naturally, Ash gives it his best – basically – and, well, the film isn’t called Army of Darkness because he got it right.

Army of Darkness is a love letter to Ray Harryhausen and old horror pictures and slapstick comedy that it isn’t easy to classify – and that’s a part of its secret to endurance. Raimi did something ambitious and different, all with studio backing (more or less), and he really did make something special. The comedy does get a little tiresome at times (I’ve always found the mini-Ashes to be annoying) but Raimi does strike a pretty perfect balance between horror, humor, fantasy and heroics. Nothing was done with computers; this is all ingenuity and practical effects, matte paintings, camera trickery and old-school techniques. Campbell is fully in his element, doling out one-liners with the same ease as when he’s lopping off heads with a chainsaw. It would have been great to see him in a fourth film, still in his prime. There’s a lot of greatness surrounding him, too – Evil Ash provides the perfect foil, the supporting cast is solid, the story moves at a quick pace and the film’s FX work is superb. Seriously, the film’s FX team (which includes Howard Berger, Greg Nicotero and Tony Gardner) produced so many impressive pieces here it’s overwhelming. The stop-motion skeletons alone are a work of art. As much it sometimes feels like this movie is overplayed (I think of it as The Big Lebowski (1998) of horror) watching it again is a reminder that, yes, it is that good.

So you’re a fan of the film, but the real question is: which cut? There are four from which to choose – the theatrical version, director’s cut, international cut and the television version. It’s well known that Raimi was forced to make cuts to create the theatrical edit, and the sixteen-minute longer director’s cut is his preferred version, but most fans likely spent years watching the theatrical cut. So it holds merit. Different versions feature different takes and different one-liners from Ash. The director’s cut has a lot of great footage added back in, except (in my opinion) for the ending. Ash waking up in a post-apocalyptic London isn’t nearly as satisfying as the S-Mart ending. If you’re ok with getting only some of that director’s cut footage, maybe try the international version, which runs eight minutes longer than the theatrical cut and retains the S-Mart ending. For those who want to know the exact differences, check out the link here for a detailed breakdown of every minor change.

Four versions, four differences in picture quality. First off, the good news – the international cut is presented in 1080p and has been minted from a new 4K scan of the interpositive and it is the best looking of the bunch. There is still some dirt on the print, and the film’s many optical shots are soft, grainy and generally a bit rough, but this is unquestionably the best I’ve ever seen the film look. Colors, in particular, appear richly saturated and vibrant. Detail, too, is strong overall with close-ups yielding very nice details.

As some fans might recall, Universal’s Blu-ray of the theatrical cut got blasted for being slathered with DNR and looking too waxy; it wasn’t very filmic. While Scream Factory may not have created a new remaster for this release, it has been heavily rumored they spliced in every bit of the international cut when possible, resulting in a picture that is mostly culled from a 4K source. It’s a clear improvement over Universal’s disc.

The director’s cut lists no technical information, though it seems likely Scream sourced this from the same master used for the R3 DVD all those years ago (i.e. 35mm, not tape). There are still obvious variations in quality when scenes jump to the additional footage, but it isn’t so glaring as on previous home video editions. This would be my ideal cut of the film were it not for the ending.

Finally, the television cut. It’s full-frame, interlaced at 1080i, jittery and will only serve as a curiosity – at best – for most fans buying this set.

TV cut aside, every version of the movie features an English DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround sound track. The sound here is rich, with rears being used nicely to fill out the soundfield and create a pleasing sense of immersion. Dialogue comes through clean and well-balanced amongst the plethora of effects present in most scenes. The score, composed mainly by Joseph LoDuca with contributions from Danny Elfman, sounds full and impressive in lossless audio. The compositions are the perfect complement to the film. All cuts also include an English DTS-HD MA 2.0 track. Subtitles are available in English.

DISC ONE: Theatrical Cut

“Medieval Times: The Making of Army of Darkness” – Much of the film’s cast & crew are interviewed here, though it’s Campbell who takes center stage and owns the show. This is partially because he’s that kind of guy, and also because Sam Raimi and Embeth Davidtz declined to participate. Still, Campbell regales with his usual comedic tales from the trenches, while others discuss their own respective roles on the film. Lots of ground is covered here, though much of it is redundant if you’re a fan with any familiarity as to how this movie was made. Some judicious editing could have turned this into a tight one-hour piece. Still, it’s damn comprehensive.

“Original Ending” – Ash, having taken one too many sleepytime drops, wakes up to a post-apocalyptic London.

“Alternate Opening” – Ash provides a different recap of the events prior to this film. Optional commentary with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell is available.

“Deleted Scenes” – The footage here comes from three key scenes – the film’s opening, Ash at the windmill, and a final meeting between Ash and Henry the Red. Optional commentary with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell is available.

The film’s theatrical trailer is included, featuring an odd instrumental rework of Metallica’s “Sad But True”.

Two “TV Spots” and a “U.S. Video Promo” can also be found here.

DISC TWO: Director’s Cut

The only audio commentary on this set is unsurprisingly featured on this cut, featuring director Sam Raimi, actor Bruce Campbell and co-writer Ivan Raimi. If you have ever heard these guys (specifically Sam & Bruce) on a commentary, you’ll know how much fun it is to hear their tales. If not, correct that issue at once by playing the film with this informative, lively, often hilarious track.

“On-Set Video Footage Compilation” – These are quick clips of some behind-the-scenes footage from the film.

“Creating the Deadites Featurette” – KNB honchos Howard Berger and Greg Nicotero introduce this piece, which is comprised of their own personal camcorder footage, shot in the KNB studios while prep on the film’s FX took place.

“Behind-the-Scenes Footage from KNB Effects” – Just as the title says, this is lots of unedited footage shot by the guys in KNB, showcasing the film’s FX work.

“Vintage “Making of” Featurette” – This is essentially just a studio EPK providing an overview of the film.

“Extended Interview Clips” – These archival clips have a few more words with Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert.

DISC THREE: International Cut

The big bonus here is the film’s Television Version, presented in 1.33:1, 1080i, with no chapter stops. A quick sampling of this cut showed it is rough, often jerky (framerate issue?) and likely only worth a watch to those who might have grown up watching this on cable.

An international theatrical trailer is available.

“Still Galleries with Rare Behind-the-Scenes Photos” features 339 images.

“Still Gallery of Props & Rare Photos” features 49 images.

A gallery of storyboards contains 57 images.

“The Men Behind the Army” – This carryover from the old Anchor Bay theatrical cut DVD is a vintage making-of piece.

Finally, a “special thanks” lists off those who contributed to this new Blu-ray edition.

Rest in Peace: Fred Thompson

The film community has lost yet another wonderful actor as news has come that Fred Thompson has passed away at age 73 from a recurrence of lymphoma. The actor, whom horror fans will remember as Sheriff Tom Broadbent in the original Sinister, also appeared in the 1991 remake of Cape Fear.

Outside of the film world Thompson was a U.S. senator for the state of Tennessee from 1994 until 2003. He also appeared in other non-genre films such as Die Hard 2, The Hunt for Red October, and Days of Thunder. TV fans will remember him as D.A. Arthur Branch in “Law & Order.”

In a statement to the Nashville Tennessean, his family wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Thompson’s many friends, family members, and constituents. Rest easy, sir. Thank you for the memories.

Fans of creepy doll films like Child’s Play will want to mark the release of next year’s The Boy down on their calendar, which looks to be cut from a similar cloth. Lauren Cohan (“The Walking Dead”) stars as a nanny tasked with overseeing a lifelike doll, and today brings the official poster art.

Check it out below, along with the previously released trailer!

William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) directed the Stacey Menear-penned project, which is aiming for a January 22, 2016, release. Jim Norton (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Diana Hardcastle (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Ben Robson (“Vikings”), Rupert Evans (Hellboy), and James Russell (“Blue Bloods”) also star.

Producing are Lakeshore’s Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg, Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Adam Stone, along with Jim Wedaa.

Synopsis:
Greta (Cohan), a young American woman looking to escape a troubled past, takes a job in a small England village as a nanny for a wealthy couple’s 8-year-old son while they take a long vacation. She arrives at the remote manor to discover that things are not quite right. The surprisingly elderly Mr. and Mrs. Heelshire (Norton and Hardcastle) have a list of strict rules for her to follow in caring for their son, Brahms, and they mysteriously warn Greta that not following them precisely could result in something terrible. But the most disturbing realization of all is that Brahms is not an actual 8-year-old boy… he’s a life-sized porcelain doll, whom the doting parents care for and deeply love, just like a real boy.

“If you love him,” Greta is sternly instructed, “he will love you back.”

Isolated and alone, Greta notices that every time she breaks a rule, something strange happens in the house, and the doll reappears in different places and positions than where she put him. Compelled to uncover the mystery behind Brahms, Greta enlists the help of the local grocery delivery man, the only human being she sees for weeks, who shares horrifying details about the Heelshire family’s disturbing past, leading Greta to realize that she wasn’t just hired – she was chosen.

Adam Green Talks Fun Hatchet 4 Pitch; Planned Meta End to the Franchise

0

It’s been nearly a decade since Victor Crowley came to life in Adam Green’s Hatchet, and to date two sequels have continued the bayou monster’s reign of terror. Will we ever see a Hatchet 4? Only time will tell, but Green did recently discuss his original plans for the fourth installment. Read on!

Green, who co-hosts the exceptional podcast “The Movie Crypt,” spilled the beans on the show’s most recent episode, and we tip our hats to Bloody Disgusting for bringing this tasty morsel to our attention. If the franchise creator had his way, Crowley would’ve gone out on a dark, meta note.

It plays with the idea of Victor Crowley actually being a real thing – I lied and said I made it up but I really stole the story and now he’s coming to get everybody who worked on the movie,” Green explains, revealing his Hatchet 4 idea. “But he doesn’t really look like he did in the three — he’s really scary; it’s a little more paranormal. I just figured to go out with a bang and make it real and make it grounded and make him terrifying and not campy would have been really cool.

Of course, the concept would’ve spelled the end of the Hatchet franchise, which is presumably why Dark Sky Films didn’t go forward with it. At the time of writing this, there are no current plans for another sequel, though there’s a good chance we haven’t seen the last of Victor Crowley.

Head over to “The Movie Crypt” to listen to the podcast’s latest episode!

Hannibal Season 3 Comes Home for Dinner in December

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… “Hannibal” could very well be the best TV show ever brought to the screen. It’s a crying shame that nobody watched it. Hopefully it’ll find new life on home video. Speaking of which…

From the Press Release:
From the imaginative mind of Bryan Fuller (TV’s “Heroes” and “Pushing Daisies”) comes the final chapter of the smash hit series Hannibal: Season Three, keeping viewers’ spines tingling on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) December 8th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Based on the series of novels by Thomas Harris that sparked a cult following and major motion picture franchise, the deliciously dark and twisted series brings Hannibal Lecter’s chillingly genius insanity to life.

Based on the characters and elements appearing in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, “Hannibal,” from Gaumont International Television (in association with Sony Pictures Television Networks), stars Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt) as the iconic Hannibal Lecter, Emmy® Award nominee Hugh Dancy (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie, “Elizabeth I,” 2006), Gillian Anderson (TV’s “The X-Files”), and Academy Award® nominee Laurence Fishburne (Best Actor in a Leading Role, What’s Love Got to Do with It, 1993). The show co-stars Caroline Dhavernas (TV’s “Off the Map”) and guest stars Eddie Izzard (Valkyrie), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek franchise), Gina Torres (TV’s “Suits”), Raul Esparza (TV’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), Mía Maestro (TV’s “The Strain”), Scott Thompson (TV’s “The Colbert Report”), Rutina Wesley (HBO’s “True Blood”), and Katharine Isabelle (Syfy’s “Being Human”).

Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) is on the run in Europe — accompanied by his psychiatrist, Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) — sporting a new identity, but servicing the same insatiable appetite. As the lives of Will (Hugh Dancy) and Jack (Laurence Fishburne) converge toward Hannibal again, each with their own motivations to catch him once and for all, their deadly dance turns in startling and unexpected ways.

Hannibal: Season Three contains all 13 episodes and is loaded with special features that include select episode audio commentaries with the cast and crew, behind-the-scenes featurettes, webisodes, deleted scenes, and a gag reel. It’s been a hot minute since we brought you (first) word on writer and director Gus Krieger’s feature directorial debut The Binding, and now we’re bringing you a first look at the film’s trailer as well as a theatrical one sheet for the harrowing thriller.

Starring Amy Gumenick of television’s “Arrow” and Leon Russom (True Grit), The Binding revolves around a young woman (Gumenick) whose religious devotion is put to the ultimate test when she is forced to uncover the truth behind her husband’s horrific visions. As tensions rise and secrets come to light, the formerly inseparable family begins spiraling toward a terrifying choice between faith and blood.

Says Krieger of the film, who produces alongside Outlaw Production’s Michel Glassman (Born to Run), Scott Hyman (500 Days of Summer), Matthew Herrier and Jeff Moriarty of Laminated Pictures, “We anticipate making an announcement soon regarding distribution.”

Check out the trailer below.

Paloma Is a Dark Music Video for Day of the Dead

I know what you’re going to say. Day of the Dead is over, but this video hit my inbox last night and I thought it was seriously cool and wanted to share it. I’m also a massive fan of the uber talented folks at Luchagore Productions and always love seeing what they’re up to.

This is a killer music video called “Paloma,” and you can think of it as an atmospheric little chaser that concludes your Dia de Muertos celebration this year. “Paloma” is the embodiment of Mexican traditions and deep respect for La Muerte, and the video was created as the intro for MORBIDO FEST 2015, hailed as an “elegant and very Mexican piece… the right way to start!” by Festival Director/CEO Pablo Guisa.

Shadan Saul Guerrero’s haunting and melodic voice certainly helps too!

At any rate, dig it below. And if you’re wondering where my appreciation for Luchagore comes from, check out the trailer for their short film El Gigante farther down the page (I’ve seen the movie, and it rocks).

We’ve been talking about giant monster flick Colossal, the indie sci-fi actioner from writer-director Nacho Vigalondo, for a while now. What we didn’t know is that it is already filming!

The Daily Mail has some paparazzi images here. Click on over to see them. Also dig on these fan shots from Twitter.

Anne Hathaway, Dan Stevens Tim Blake Nelson, and Austin Stowell star in the giant monster flick. Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Open Windows) wrote and directs Colossal.

Here’s the synopsis previously provided by the Voltage Pictures website:

Hathaway will be playing Gloria in the picture, an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her home town. When news reports start surfacing that a giant monster is destroying the city of Tokyo, Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is connected to these far-off events. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

Fear the Walking Dead – New Look at the Special Features

On tap today we have another look at one of the special features from the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of “Fear the Walking Dead.” The abbreviated season is headed to DVD and Blu-ray in December. Read on for details.

From the Press Release:
Anchor Bay Entertainment is bringing fans of the latest ingenious and pulse-pounding AMC original series, “Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete First Season,” to Blu-ray and DVD on December 1st. Created by Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”) and Dave Erickson (“Sons of Anarchy”), the series hailed as “effortlessly creepy” (People) premiered in August as the #1 show in cable history.

The 2-disc sets include character bios as well as “A Look at the Series.” Both fans of the show, as well as those who have yet to encounter the engrossing drama, will have the opportunity to own all six episodes.

Living in the same universe as “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead” is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in Los Angeles, a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and the dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Fans can also look forward to “Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete First Season” Special Edition in 2016.

“Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete First Season” cast also includes Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Mercedes Mason (Quarantine 2), Ruben Blades (Safe House), Alycia Debnam-Carey (The Devil’s Hand), Elizabeth Rodriguez (“Orange Is the New Black”), and Lorenzo James Henrie (Star Trek).

“Fear The Walking Dead” Season 2 premieres on AMC with 15 new episodes in 2016.

Another poster is here for Legendary Pictures’ Krampus, a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul that reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday; and we love every naughty inch of it! Dig it!

Written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ’r Treat), Krampus is co-written by Zach Shields and Todd Casey and produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia, and Dougherty. The film will be released by Universal Pictures on December 4, 2015.

The horror-comedy stars Emjay Anthony, Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen, and Krista Stadler.

Krampus and his mischievous underlings have been created by the combined efforts of Weta Workshop and Weta Digital, both renowned for their epic work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and King Kong, among many others.

Synopsis:
When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
