New Survival Horror Game in the Works from Resident Evil CreatorIn a recent interview Shinji Mikami - creator of the original survival horror game Resident Evil - confirmed that he is indeed working on a new project codenamed Zwei.

Mikami said that the new project will be another survival horror game that will contain many classic survival horror aspects. It was also said that Bethesda will be working primarily as a publisher on the project, the game is still in the early development stage and the codename Zwei does not reflect on the game's content.

Mikami is currently looking for talented programmers to team up with on the project. The game is expected to be developed with HD consoles in mind, but no specific time table or specific console release has been confirmed as of yet. You can expect more updates in the future, as this could very well be another classic in the making from the mastermind behind the survival genre.

Another Four Clips from The Raven Come to Roost

Can it be? Yes! Another four clips from The Raven, the serial killer flick based upon the life and work of the great Edgar Allan Poe, have flown in! Check 'em out right now!

Look for James McTeigue's The Raven starring John Cusack, Luke Evans and Brendan Gleeson on April 27th, 2012.

The Raven begins with Poe arriving in Baltimore as a serial killer is terrorizing the city, using the writer’s stories as the inspiration for his crimes. Poe is a suspect at first, but he eventually joins forces with a police inspector to solve the crimes and save the woman he loves.

Synopsis
In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

Chloe Moretz Talks Carrie

0
0

We're pretty damned stoked that Chloe Moretz will be the one playing everyone's favorite murderous anti-bully, Carrie White, but with the exception of some Twitter rumblings, the actress has been tight-lipped. Until now.

Dread Central writer Jinx just sent us in a scan of a page from a theatre owners magazine called Box Office Pro. It features a new photo of Chloe Moretz and Tim Burton from Dark Shadows and also a quote about her upcoming role in Carrie, which reads:

Box Office Pro - Congratulations on landing the lead role in Carrie. What is it about the role that you find fascinating?

Moretz - "Thanks! It's an amazing role, and I'm so excited to get in there and try to tackle it and see what I can change up. It's already been done, and there's already been the amazing, amazing Sissy Spacek version of it, but what I really want to do is spice it up and take a more modern, younger approach to it because I am going through what Carrie is going through. She's figuring out who she is, and I just really want to get in there and see what I can do, feel it out."

Check out the scan below for a bit more.

Look for Kimberly Peirce's take on Carrie to be in theatres on March 15, 2013.

In the story shy high school student Carrie White is raised by a nightmarish religious fanatic mother and comes to grip with devastating telepathic powers just as she reaches puberty. She eventually uses those gifts for lethal means when fellow classmates use the prom as an excuse to humiliate her before the entire school in a parable about bullying.

Sissy Spacek played the character in the first movie, with Piper Laurie playing her mother, and Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, John Travolta, Betty Buckley, and William Katt rounding out the cast. Both Spacek and Laurie got Oscar nominations for their work in the 1976 film.

  • UPDATED: Disney Lands Rights to Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book - Director Named

Neil Gaiman is definitely one of the more popular writers among the Dread Central crew so, even though the story might be geared toward the younger crowd, we're all still pretty stoked to hear that his Newberry Medal-winning The Graveyard Book is heading to the big screen.

Per Deadline, Disney has just made a high six-figure deal for The Graveyard Book, the bestselling children’s title by Neil Gaiman. The book is a riff on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, but instead of a boy raised by wolves in the jungle, Gaiman tells the story of the last surviving child of a murdered family raised by ghosts in a graveyard.

The book attracted attention from just about every studio upon its release by HarperCollins back in 2009 and was optioned for a large fee by UK Effects House Framestore. They had Neil Jordan attached to direct, but the project never got off the ground even though they kept renewing the option. Disney production chief Sean Bailey stepped in and made Framestore a producer.

    UPDATE
"The Disney deal for Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book keeps getting more interesting. I’ve learned that Henry Selick, who helmed Gaiman’s Coraline, is now attached to direct The Graveyard Book at Disney. Selick, best known for Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, is already working for Disney-based Pixar on a top secret film. But he’ll do this one after. Selick is repped by The Gotham Group. They are looking for a screenwriter now."

    Book Synopsis:
Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy.

He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy--an ancient Indigo Man beneath the hill, a gateway to a desert leading to an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleer. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack--who has already killed Bod's family...

Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.
