Return of the Living Dead’s Tarman Gets Re-created in Photoshoot

Some very dedicated fans with a lot of time on their hands have gone ahead and re-created Tarman from Return of the Living Dead in such meticulous detail that it looks like he could literally come to life (or living death or whatever) and start eating your flesh at any second.

The Horrify Me studio has a ton of other stuff that you can check out on their website.

From the Press Release:
UK-based horror photography studio HORRIFY ME has brought one of the most iconic zombies of all time back from the dead: TARMAN from Return of the Living Dead. Buckets of black toxic slime were put to very creative use in this extremely messy photoshoot. Model Lee Frost endured hours of disgusting makeup and sticky black glop and was left unable to see thanks to plastic eyeballs glued to his face. Cold, wet oily rags were tied all over his body, and then he was dumped into a very gross toxic barrel.

Artist and photographer Rick Jones of Horrify Me is renowned for making other people suffer for his art. Having already impaled a girl on a wooden stick (Cannibal Holocaust), subjected a model to hours of pins in her head (Hellraiser), and wrapping someone in old, filthy wrappings (The Mummy), this is just the latest in his series of shoots designed to express his passion for classic horror.

Tarman is a particular favorite at Horrify Me, and the opportunity to recreate him was priceless.

E3 2016: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Helps Keep Classic Side-scrolling Adventuring Alive

Deep Silver didn’t have a whole lot to show at this year’s E3, but they did manage to put out a new demo for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi. Thanks to Nintendo World Report for getting the video up.

The game, which raised an incredible $5,545,991 on Kickstarter, features classic side-scrolling Metrovania gameplay that should delight both old school gamers and those looking for a break from the endless tirade of shooters and brawlers. Although, to make a slight criticism, the music in the demo below is goddamn annoying! But at least the trailers for the game don’t feature a narrator insinuating that anime fans are unable to get girlfriends like the one for Mighty No. 9 did.

IGN was lucky enough to get to play a demo of Strafe from developer Pixel Titans and publisher Pixel Titans at E3, but before you check out their video below, be sure that you’re fully covered up because the blood sprays absolutely everywhere!

The retro-style throwback to classic sci-fi FPS titles like Doom and Quake does not hold back at all when it comes to graphic and gratuitous violence, and that’s just how we like it!

The digital blood splatter will be coming your way when Strafe gets released next year.

Accept The Invitation on Blu-ray and DVD

Karyn Kusama’s latest, The Invitation (review), is hitting Blu-ray and DVD next month from Drafthouse Films, and we have all your details right here. Dig it!

From the Press Release:
Dubbed “the best horror film of the year” by Maxim, the stylish chiller The Invitation will arrive in a Blu-ray + DVD combo pack on July 26, 2016, from Drafthouse Films. In this taut psychological thriller from award-winning director Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Jennifer’s Body), the tension is palpable when Will (Logan Marshall-Green, Prometheus) shows up to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife, Eden (Tammy Blanchard, Into the Woods), and her new husband, David (Michiel Huisman, “Game of Thrones”). The estranged divorcees’ tragic past haunts an equally eerie present; amid Eden’s suspicious behavior and her mysterious house guests, Will becomes convinced that his invitation was extended with a hidden agenda. Unfolding over one dark evening in the Hollywood Hills, The Invitation blurs layers of mounting paranoia, mystery, and horror until both Will–and the audience–are unsure what threats are real or imagined.

Kusama’s thriller opened the Midnight section of the 2015 SXSW Film Festival before receiving wide acclaim during the nationwide theatrical release. For Kusama, who first made her mark with the breakout 2000 hit Girlfight, The Invitation boasts a triumphant return to her independent roots, as well as an impressively-crafted script written and produced by screenwriting duo Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (Crazy/Beautiful, Ride Along). Also starring are Emayatzy Corinealdi (Miles Ahead, “Roots”) and John Carroll Lynch (“American Horror Story,” Zodiac).

Special features on the Blu-ray and DVD of The Invitation include audio commentary with Kusama, Hay, and Manfredi, “The Making of The Invitation,” music videos for original songs by Craig Wedren and Benjamin Newgard, the theatrical trailer, an HD digital copy of the film, and booklet featuring an original essay by critic Britt Hayes.

John Stamos Joining Scream Queens in Season 2

As someone who grew up watching “General Hospital,” John Stamos will always be “Blackie” to me although I imagine that for those of you who are a bit younger than I, he’ll always be “Jesse” from “Full House.”

Now, a whole new generation will get to know him as “Dr. Brock Holt” since he’s joining Fox’s “Scream Queens” as a series regular in Season 2. Read on for the details!

From the Press Release:
John Stamos (“Grandfathered,” “Fuller House”) has been cast in a series regular role in the upcoming second season of “SCREAM QUEENS,” the comedy-horror series from award-winning executive producers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan.

Premiering Tuesday, September 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), on FOX, Season Two of “SCREAM QUEENS” graduates from the college campus and into an all-new location, as a terrifyingly funny mystery will begin once again. Set in a hospital, where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation, Stamos will play DR. BROCK HOLT, the hospital’s brilliant, but secretive head surgeon. Stamos previously collaborated with Murphy in guest-starring roles on the comedies “Glee” and “The New Normal.”

As previously announced, Golden Globe Award nominee Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Glen Powell, and Niecy Nash are set to reprise their Season One characters with additional casting to be announced.

Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer Stamos continues to captivate audiences with an array of multi-faceted performances across television, film, and theater. With a career spanning 30 years, Stamos has become one of the most revered television stars of his generation. In 2016 Stamos won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actor in a New TV Series for his role on FOX’s “Grandfathered” and was awarded TV Land’s Timeless Icon Award, presented to him by longtime friend and mentor Garry Marshall. Earlier this year “Fuller House,” a multi-camera comedy spin-off of iconic comedy “Full House,” premiered with Stamos serving as a producer and guest star. The series was recently renewed for a second season. Stamos’ additional television credits include “General Hospital,” “Necessary Roughness,” “Galavant,” “Entourage,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as well as the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning drama “ER.” As a producer, Stamos is in development with Twentieth Century Fox and Academy Award-winning producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan on a musical feature set to the songs of the Beach Boys.

Stamos also has established a strong stage presence, beginning with his Broadway debut in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” as “J. Pierrepont Finch.” Other Broadway credits include Gore Vidal’s Tony Award-nominated political play “The Best Man” with James Earl Jones, Roundabout Theatre Company’s “Bye Bye Birdie,” and the Tony Award-winning musicals “Nine” and “Cabaret.” Additional theater credits include “Hairspray” and “The Little Mermaid” at the Hollywood Bowl. A gifted drummer, singer, and musician, Stamos occasionally tours with the legendary band the Beach Boys, of which he’s been a part for 30 years. As an advocate for Project Cuddle, Stamos serves as the non-profit’s national spokesperson and Chairman of the advisory board and has been a supporter of the charity for nearly 10 years.

“SCREAM QUEENS” was this past season’s No. 1 new comedy among Adults 18-34 and the No. 1 new series in social media. Across platforms, “SCREAM QUEENS” averages a +186% gain versus its Live + Same Day delivery (8.0 vs. 2.8 million) – the biggest multi-platform percentage gain versus Live + Same Day ever for a FOX program over the comparable period.

“SCREAM QUEENS” is from Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, who also serve as writers and directors on the series. It is executive-produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan, and Alexis Martin Woodall (“American Horror Story: Hotel”).

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny Talk More Episodes of The X-Files

During last month’s TV Upfronts (i.e., the time before the television season begins when marketers buy commercial airtime), Fox execs Dana Walden and Gary Newman were optimistic that more episodes of “The X-Files” are on the way; and now it’s time to hear from the show’s stars.

Although Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are currently on opposite sides of the country (she’s been performing on Broadway in a play, and he’s in LA working on “Aquarius”), they took some time out to chat with Deadline about future possibilities.

Anderson said, “…I’m open to the conversation, though they haven’t come to us yet. I have no clue when they’re going to. I’m getting on with the rest of my life and I’m booking other jobs, so if it is indeed something that they would like to continue, then that conversation will need to be had. And I have no idea when that will be able to take place at this juncture.”

Duchovny adds, “I don’t know… I’m pausing, and I don’t know why I’m pausing. I would say I guess what we found with this season was that it’s possible to still get it. It doesn’t not work. And then the question becomes, if we were going to move on, how do we make it work even better? That’s a question we’d want to ask. This one was, ‘Phew, we can do it. I guess it did work.’ But now it’s like, now what? How do we make this interesting again for all of us? And it is a joy to play, as difficult as it can be. There are days, I’m sure, where Gillian and I would rather go to work and not have to think about it, but ultimately that’s what keeps us alive: these people, those artists, and the chance to be able to use our brains and think on our feet to do the show in that way.”

“David and I have solidified and intensified our friendship and our working relationship since the series ended,” added Anderson, “so it really is just going back and choosing to work with somebody and feeling like we are doing something that only the two of us have the experience of. We’re there for each other and enjoy that in and of itself. It was something I looked forward to with this series and something I would potentially look forward to doing again. It’s a nice thing to have in one’s life.”

There’s a bit more of interest in the article so be sure to hit up the above link.  In the meantime, we’ll keep assuming that more episodes are out there along with the truth!

Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.

The series stars Elizabeth Mitchell (“Lost,” The Purge: Election Year) as Deborah “Deb” Carpenter, Elizabeth Lail (“Once Upon a Time”) as Amy Hughes, Zelda Williams (“Teen Wolf”) as Drew Reeves, Mark Indelicato (“Ugly Betty”) as Blair Ramos, Alberto Frezza (“Charlie’s Angels”) as Deputy Garrett Sykes, Eli Goree (“The 100”) as Joel Goodson, Ronen Rubinstein (“Orange Is the New Black”) as Alex Powell, Amber Coney (“Class”) as Carolina “Cricket” Diaz, and Paulina Singer (“Gotham”) as Jessie Tyler.

“Dead of Summer” Series Premiere – Episode 1.01 – “Patience”
Camp Stillwater is about to reopen after being closed down for years. Deb (Elizabeth Mitchell), the new owner, has thrown her heart, soul, and life savings into renovating the camp she loved as a child. She isn’t the only one excited to return as six former campers—Alex (Ronen Rubinstein), Jessie (Paulina Singer), Cricket (Amber Coney), Joel (Eli Goree), Blair (Mark Indelicato), and Blotter (Zachary Gordon)—join her as counselors, hoping to experience the freedom that camp brings now that they are older.

Not part of the old crew, Amy (Elizabeth Lail) is not just new to Camp Stillwater, but to camp in general. While Amy tries her best to fit in with the already tight group, Drew (Zelda Williams) is content to be left alone. As everyone settles in and prepares for the campers’ arrival, Amy is the first to get a feeling that something is not right with this idyllic summer camp.

Don Dohler’s The Alien Factor Invading Blu-ray Any Day Now

$

News that Don Dohler’s cult favorite The Alien Factor is arriving on Blu-ray next week somehow slipped through the cracks amid the flood of recent b-movies to Blu announcements of late.

Fred Olen Ray’s Retormedia is behind this limited edition release (1,000 units) of Dohler’s 1978 homage to 1950’s sci-fi creature features. The Baltimore-lensed monster mash sees a spaceship crash-landing in a small backwoods town. The ship contains specimens meant for an intergalactic zoo: the Inferbryce (an insectoid creature), the Zagatile (a tall, feral Bigfoot-like monster), and the Leemoid (a stop-motion monstrosity brought to cinematic life by future Terminator effects artist Ernest Farino). As the bodies pile up, an enigmatic alien in human form arrives to stop the wild alien animals from killing any more innocent human life.

What the film lacks in budget it certainly makes up for with ambition. I’ve said for years this is a movie screaming out for a remake.

Amazon has the disc listed as being released on Sunday, June 19th. In other words, pre-order now because The Alien Factor Blu-ray begins shipping out Monday.

Aside from boasting a new 2K HD widescreen scan from the 16mm negative, Retromedia’s disc comes loaded with extras…

Special Features:

  • Cast and Crew Commentary Track
  • “Behind the Scenes” Featurette
  • “The Television Years” Featurette
  • “Meet the Cast and Crew” Featurette
  • The Alien Factor Reunion
  • Alternate Leemoid Sequence with Commentary Track
  • Blooper Reel
  • Original Retromedia “Drive-In Theatre” intro from the previous DVD release
