After what seemed like an endless amount of time, Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise is finally coming home here in the States. Read on for all the details.

From the Press Release:
From genre-bending director Ben Wheatley (Kill List), the critically-acclaimed adaptation of the classic J.G. Ballard novel HIGH-RISE arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD August 2 from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the Magnet label. An all-star cast including Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune), Golden Globe nominee Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), and Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”) headline a “deliciously dark satire” (IGN) that follows the inevitable result of a breakdown of social strata and public decorum: class warfare.

Dr. Robert Laing (Hiddleston) recently moved into a luxury, high-rise apartment building designed by the enigmatic Mr. Royal (Irons). With a literal divide of the classes, the wealthiest residents live on the upper floors with the best amenities while residents on the lower floors experience routine blackouts and other disruptions of basic services. As additional flaws in the building begin to emerge, both physically and socially, the lower floor residents revolt, turning the building into a battlefield for a literal class war.

Bonus features of the HIGH-RISE Blu-ray and DVD releases include audio commentary from Tom Hiddleston, Ben Wheatley, and producer Jeremy Thomas; an in-depth look at adapting the beloved novel from the page to the screen; and a look at the acclaimed film’s 70s set design, special effects, and more. The “playfully demented” (Consequence of Sound) thriller will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 for Blu-ray and $26.98 for DVD.

Synopsis:
HIGH-RISE stars Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) as Dr. Robert Laing, the newest resident of a luxurious apartment in a high-tech concrete skyscraper whose lofty location places him amongst the upper class. Laing quickly settles into high society life and meets the building’s eccentric tenants: Charlotte (Golden Globe nominee Sienna Miller, American Sniper), his upstairs neighbor and bohemian single mother; Wilder (Luke Evans, Beauty and the Beast), a charismatic documentarian who lives with his pregnant wife, Helen (Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss, “Mad Men”); and Mr. Royal (Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, Reversal of Fortune), the enigmatic architect who designed the building. Life seems like paradise to the solitude-seeking Laing. But as power outages become more frequent and building flaws emerge, particularly on the lower floors, the regimented social strata begins to crumble, and the building becomes a battlefield in a literal class war.

Special Features:

  • Commentary with Actor Tom Hiddleston, Director Ben Wheatley, and Producer Jeremy Thomas
  • Building the World of High-Rise: 70’s Style
  • Heady Special Effects
  • Breaking Down High-Rise & Its Tenants
  • High-Rise: Bringing Ballard to the Big Screen

It’s only just gone live on Kickstarter, but the Evil Dead 2 board game has already raised more than twice its $70,000 goal. It really does warm our hearts to see the horror community supporting a franchise which has given us so much joy over the years.

We’ve also got brand spanking new images and a press release straight from the makers themselves, so check out that shit down below.

Evil Dead 2: The Official Board Game Kickstarter Is Live!
Board games are about to get a lot more groovy–and gory–with the official Evil Dead 2 Board Game. The game is a tile- and miniature-based survival-horror game produced by Space Goat Play (a division of Space Goat Productions) in conjunction with Studiocanal. And it’s Certified Groovy.

The game is designed with both casual and veteran board game fans in mind. Depicting the terrifying and iconic characters, monsters, and locales from Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi’s cult classic, the official Evil Dead 2 Board Game is the definitive tabletop experience for Evil Dead 2 fans. Two to six players will work together in 90- to 120-minute sessions to gather pages of the Ex-Mortis while trying to survive demon attacks and supernatural events and avoid turning into evil deadites themselves.

The game contains 8 figures which include Ash, Annie, Jake, Ed, Bobby Jo, and Linda as well as Deadites and, naturally, Ash’s severed hand. The board game also includes custom Evil Dead 2 dice, a fully illustrated tile based board featuring the iconic cabin, and the prequel mini-comic.

Space Goat has partnered with Kickstarter veterans Backerkit in order to process and execute the Kickstarter campaign. “Launching a Kickstarter for a project this large is a major endeavour,” said Space Goat’s crowdfunding coordinator JD Boucher, “which is why we recruited the help of Backerkit to ensure that our donors are taken care of. Your Kickstarter pledges are in capable hands.”

The campaign also offers a standard and deluxe edition for donors to select from. The deluxe edition features exclusive figures of Ash Williams, Deadite Henrietta, and a box based on the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the Book of the Dead. More figures and features will be added as the campaign goes on, as well as retailer pledge levels. Six lucky fans will also get a chance to get their likenesses drawn into either the game or a future Evil Dead 2 comic book. The Kickstarter campaign will run 30 days.

Edgar Allan Poe Bronze Bust Going on Public Display

One of the most famous horror writers of all time has been immortalized in a very cool way. Edgar Allan Poe has received his very own bronze bust, which was unveiled in 2014 and will be on public display at the Boston Public Library after its grand reopening today, July 9th!

From the Press Release:
The Edgar Allan Poe bronze bust will soon be on display for public viewing in the newly renovated Johnson building at the Boston Public Library’s Central Library in Copley Square, following the building’s grand reopening ceremony on July 9th.

The bust was formally unveiled and donated to the library on October 30, 2014, the plan being that its final placement would indeed be alongside many other fine busts in the library’s vast art collection in the Johnson building. Supporters of the project included literary and film heavyweights Guillermo del Toro, Neil Gaiman, Peter Straub, George R.R. Martin, Stuart Gordon, Jeffrey Combs, and Jen and Sylvia Soska.

While the initial presentation was on the traditional black alder pedestal with a bronze donor plaque as with Bryan Moore’s busts of H.P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker, the library has elected to create a new plaque in a prime location for an updated presentation consistent with the design motif of the other displayed busts.

“Moore’s bust of Edgar Allan Poe is in good company in the Central Library’s fiction area, alongside other notable literary influencers – Maya Angelou, Henry James, and Mark Twain,” reports Boston Public Library’s Director of Library Services, Michael Colford.

Sculptor Bryan Moore adds, “When the project team and I donated the Poe bust to the library, it’s exact display location was unknown so we provided a bust pedestal and donor plaque so that it could be placed anywhere in the fair and pillared halls of the Boston Public Library. Seeing these new photos of the bust in the Johnson building, I think the staff of the Boston Public Library has made a wonderful decision that I believe truly elevates the display status of the Poe bust, ensuring that all the project donors are honored and making the bust much more accessible for readers and visitors to the library. I applaud the Boston Public Library and wholeheartedly support their decision for allowing Edgar Allan Poe fans from across the globe to pay tribute to its native son in the city of his birth in one of Boston’s finest institutions.”

As part of the fundraising campaign, Moore will be making a financial donation of $1,000.00 on behalf of the project donors to Boston’s children’s literacy program “Read Boston” concurrent with the new Johnson Wing opening. “Now that the bust of Poe is finally available for public viewing, it’s my pleasure to put the finishing touch on the project by presenting a donation to ‘Read Boston’ in the middle of August,” says Moore. “Part of the joy of doing these bust projects of famous authors of the macabre is being able to give back something to future generations of readers.”

Moore’s bust of H.P. Lovecraft is on public view at the Providence Athenaeum Library in Providence, Rhode Island, and his bust of Bram Stoker will be unveiled in Ireland at the Dublin Writers Museum on November 8, 2016.

Few locations in gaming will ever be as iconic as the Spencer Mansion from the first Resident Evil game. The labyrinthine structure, with its endless twisting corridors and hidden horrors lurking within, has become so embedded in the minds of horror fans that most of us are even more familiar with it that our own homes.

Despite the fact that (20-year-old spoiler incoming) it was blown to kingdom come at the end of the game, it’s resurfaced to make an appearance in Umbrella Corps via the magic of DLC.

That’s right… the gigantic mansion is now available as a free update, so download that shit and remind yourself why you fell in love with Resident Evil in the first place.

And by the way, am I the only one who still finds it strange that, despite the mansion’s enormous size, it only contained one bathroom? I’d hate to see what those lines must be like.

Free Spencer Mansion DLC Now Available for Umbrella Corps:
The latest update for Umbrella Corps is now live on PS4 and PC. Download it now to unlock access to the free Spencer Mansion map for use in One-Life Match and Multi-Mission Mode. For more information on gameplay tweaks being applied to the PC version of Umbrella Corps, head over to Steam.

Attention, all the battle-hardened mercenaries climbing the online ranks of Umbrella Corps: a new zombie-filled warzone is here. Players can now return to the infamous Spencer Mansion from the original Resident Evil to engage in fast-paced, 3-on-3 battles via free DLC.

The iconic Mansion may have been blown to smithereens at the end of the first RE, but this nostalgic DLC pack lets players step through the ornate halls and corridors once again. Use your memory of the Mansion’s unique layout to your advantage as your pursue and ambush enemy combatants with your lethal Brainer axe weapon. Take cover behind the statue that once housed the useful map of the Mansion’s 1st floor, or wage war in the deserted west wing dining room. Of course, you’ll want to beware of the zombified Umbrella researchers roaming the halls as well as enemy players.

Riverdale Pilot Screening and Q&A
Things aren’t always what you expect in Riverdale. Based on the iconic characters from Archie Comics and produced by Berlanti Productions (The Flash, Supergirl, Blindspot, Everwood), this one-hour drama is a bold, subversive take on the surreality of small-town life. As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom, and nothing feels the same. Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is still the all-American teen, but the summer’s events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music and not follow in his dad’s footsteps, despite the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel). Which means Archie doesn’t have anyone who will mentor him-certainly not singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), who is only focused on her band, the soon-to-be-world-famous Pussycats. It’s all weighing heavily on Archie’s mind, as is his fractured friendship with budding writer and fellow classmate Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse). Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) is anxious to see her crush, Archie, after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. And Betty’s nerves, which are hardly soothed by her overbearing mother, Alice (Mädchen Amick), aren’t the only thing holding her back. When a new student, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), arrives in town from New York with her mother, Hermione (Marisol Nichols), there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie, even though Veronica doesn’t want to risk her new friendship with Betty by making a play for Archie. And then there’s Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch); Riverdale’s Queen Bee is happy to stir up trouble among Archie, Betty, and Veronica, but Cheryl is keeping secrets of her own. What, exactly, is she hiding about the mysterious death of her twin brother, Jason? Riverdale may look like a quiet, sleepy town, but there are dangers in the shadows. Riverdale is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Supergirl, Glee), Sarah Schechter (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), and Jon Goldwater (Archie Comics). Riverdale premieres midseason on The CW.

Using the 1979 novel and movie as a launching point, Time After Time chronicles the epic adventures of a young H.G. Wells. At the age of 28, the 19th-century scholar has yet to publish any of his landmark science fiction novels, but his idealistic thinking and radical ideas have led him to actually create a time machine. When his longtime friend-the charismatic (and secretly psychopathic) Dr. John Stevenson, a.k.a. Jack the Ripper, finds himself cornered by the authorities at Wells’s London home, he escapes to present-day New York City using the time machine. Naturally, Wells follows, but instead of the utopian society he imagined would be in the future, he finds a world more aligned to Stevenson’s temperament. Fortunately, Wells meets up with Jane Walker, an assistant curator at a museum staging an H. G. Wells exhibition. As Wells and Jane come together, they will not only play a dangerous endgame with Stevenson, but also find themselves involved with the incredible characters and scenarios that inspired Wells’ War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and more. Dubbed “The Inbetweeners meets Shaun of the Dead,” the slick horror comedy Ibiza Undead premieres at FrightFest 2016 on Friday, the 26th of August; and to help get those of you in the UK ready for it, today we have a new clip to share. (Even if you’re not in the UK, you should check it out too – it looks like a lot of fun!)

In the film, which is heavy on both gore and laughs, Alex (Jordan Coulson), Az (Hormuzd Todiwala), and Jim (Ed Kear) head to Ibiza for their first lads’ holiday. Unfortunately for them, tagging along is Alex’s unimpressed ex-girlfriend, Ellie. Arriving in Ibiza, they dump Ellie with Alex’s sister, Liz, and her friend Zara and head to San Antonio to start their week of debauchery. Soon they end up in a San Antonio club run by local gangster Karl, where the main attractions aren’t alive… they’re dead! Thanks to Jim’s wild antics, the zombies escape, and all hell breaks loose with the entire party island soon battling the undead.

Starring Emily Atack (“The Inbetweeners”), Cara Theobold (“Downton Abbey,” Overwatch), and Matt King (“Peep Show,” RocknRolla) and featuring Alex Zane, the horror comedy is written and directed by Andy Edwards and produced by Elisar Cabrera for Templeheart Films (The Seasoning House, Devil’s Tower, Deranged), one of the UK’s most prolific genre production companies. Ibiza Undead is a wild re-imagining of a classic movie genre to really sink your teeth into!

Director Andy Edwards says, “I’m really excited and thrilled that the premiere of Ibiza Undead is at this year’s FrightFest. As a regular attendee myself, I’m sure the FrightFest audience will love our fun, fresh – and very British – take on the zombie genre. And yes, we really did film in Ibiza – so some of the zombies are real!”

Superfan Selling Authentic Texas Chainsaw Massacre III Replica Saws

$

I think that it’s an accurate observation to say that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series declined significantly in quality with each installment. British film critic Kim Newman famously said that the second film was so inferior to its predecessor that despite coming from the same director, it seemed like it had been made by someone who had never even seen the original.

As for the third film… well, let’s just say that Viggo Mortensen’s career has seen better days. And I don’t even know what to say about the damn Bridget Jones vs. Leatherface fourth movie.

So yeah, the later films aren’t great, but one fan named Neil Olivier apparently likes number three so much that he set up his own website about it, full of info which comes only from credible sources. Pretty cool, huh? Well, get a load of this too: He’s created replica chainsaws from the film, which promise to be 100% identical to the ones onscreen.

The majestic Excalibur saw costs a whopping $2,000, whilst the more modest Skin and Bone one sells for $800. Because of their meticulous designs, you’ll need to wait for two months after making to purchase for them to arrive.

BUY A SAW:
These are replica saws, based off of the Chainsaws used in the film, not actual screen-used saws.

Each Excalibur saw is numbered and comes with an engraved label attached along with a C.O.A. and instructions. Each limited edition saw, or Skin and Bone saw, is also numbered on the bottom of the body.

Every Excalibur is made exactly like the film’s saws were made… real saws, real brass, real rivets, real chrome. Every Skin and Bone saw is matched as closely as possible to the few remaining photographs of the saw.

Pricing is as follows and subject to change:

~ EXCALIBUR CHAINSAWS
A running Excalibur chainsaw complete with engraved bar – $2,000 +shipping

~ SKIN AND BONE CHAINSAWS
A running Skin and Bone saw complete with bar and chain – $800 +shipping

Prices are for complete saws from top to bottom. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to be accepted to the wait list. The wait list is approximately 2 months from the day you make a deposit. Saws sold by me are 100% screen accurate to the film-used saws, correct model with correct hardware.

Contact chainsawgraphics@yahoo.com to purchase a saw – or use the form on the contact page.

Welcome again to another release list, friends. There are 22 items dropping this week, ranging from classics to recent TV series to downright absurd sounding movies.

First up, Cat in the Brain is coming at us all the way from 1990. This will be a double Blu-ray set which comes with a CD containing the original soundtrack to the movie. This is a must-have for any fan of Fulci.

For those who enjoy the films of Alfred Hitchcock, Psycho and The Birds are getting new releases with pop art covers. They’re pretty snazzy looking.

Rounding out our classics this week is Carnival of Souls. This is a Criterion Collection DVD release, which Carnival has seen before, but not in a while so it was probably due.

The late Anton Yelchin plays one of his last roles in last year’s Green Room. I have yet to see this movie but have heard nothing but good things about it and plan to most definitely pick it up.

As for our Television selection, Season 1 of “Slasher” hits stores this week on both Blu-ray as well as DVD. Season 2 of “iZombie” also gets both formats released this week. Speaking of “iZombie,” Season 1 is finally coming to Blu-ray as well.

There are plenty of other selections below, including a documentary on the making of Creepshow and a zombie movie about MILFs. Basically this week really has something for everyone. As always, pleasant viewing.

Enter The Catcher’s Trap in November

Chilean author Ricardo Henriquez’s The Catcher’s Trap is his debut novel and the first book in a dark fantasy/horror series of the same name. If you’re a fan of the genre, mark your calendar for November 8th, the date it arrives from Inkshares.

Inspired by Henriquez’s own struggles with depression from adolescence to adulthood, coming out as gay, and his experience immigrating into the United States, The Catcher’s Trap doesn’t shy away from the soul’s darkest moments but throws the reader into a spirited battle where darkness is overcome against all odds.

So it’s dark but not a downer. According to Ricardo, it is “a tale of resilience and discovery. Andres is all of us, staring at tsunami and knowing in our hearts that against all odds, we will survive. Of course there are also giants, sorcerers, seers, and magic potions; it wouldn’t be awesome fantasy without those elements.”

Synopsis:
Andres lives a life plagued by depression and anxiety. Just as he is about to give up hope one cold autumn night, he meets a charismatic stranger named Roman. Andres follows Roman and his friends to an underground party in Queens. Soon it becomes clear that something is amiss—but by the time Andres notices the strange creatures lurking in the shadows, it is too late.

Kidnapped by Roman and his crew, Andres finds himself in The Mist, a supernatural world where darkness and deceit prevail. There he is enslaved and forced to work the fields, every day undergoing a new and brutal torture. Now his only chance of survival is to face his own suffering and confront the demons within and around him. Can he convince his fellow slaves to fight against their paralyzing complacency? Will he make it home, or will he too succumb?

Perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman, The Catcher’s Trap is an enthralling, expansive tale replete with its own inventive mythologies.

What you may not know about Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton is the fact that he has the uncanny ability to predict the not-so-distant future. I’ve seen the results myself and can attest to these strange and often unnerving occurrences. It’s as if Creepy is akin to a chubby version of The Moth Man.

What does your future hold? Dare you read on to find out?

Lilith’s Awakening (2016)

lilith'sStarring Sophia Woodward, Barbara Eugenia, Steve Kennevan

Directed by Monica Demes

The sexual vampire film re-awakens in subtle force with the arrival of Monica Demes’ Lilith’s Awakening, a movie that uses an intently sluggish pace in order to place emphasis on atmosphere and ambience… and a little naughty matter as well.

The film stars Sophia Woodward as Lucy, a housewife whose very existence has become as stagnant as her love life with her husband, Jonathan (Sam Garles). The notion of a non-sexual relationship has only compounded her already stalemated situation at work – her father’s (Kennevan) garage is her place of employment, and it’s become as listless as watching paint dry. Now that I’ve set up the scenario as far as pacing is concerned, let’s get to the good stuff!

Lucy’s attempt at a sexual break-out comes at the expense of a co-worker (Matthew Lloyd Wilcox), but Lucy’s inherently shy nature puts the brakes on an extramarital affair before it even gets a chance to ramp up. However, when one door closes, another opens… and that door leads Lucy to Lilith: a mysterious woman who may or may not be of the bloodsucking variety. In any event, a little “sexy time” bite on the neck does indeed transfer the vampirific tendencies through to Lucy – game on, nightcrawlers!

It’s not necessarily the overpowering children of the night film that you’d expect, and first-time director Demes utilizes numerous close-ups to bring the tension and uneasiness to a simmer. Now, while I’d normally laud or condemn a film’s potential to survive based on its performances, what acts as the pulse here are the visuals and surrounding presence. The sole use of light versus dark works extremely well, and the notion that you’re watching a vampire flick, regardless of intensive action, is strictly administered.

If you’re looking for 30 Days of Night velocity, I’m sorry to say that you’ll be largely disappointed; however, if it’s a squarely delivered first-time presentation on a minor allocation, then this awakening very well could be the vampire flick that wakes us all up.

Demonbabies’ NSFW You Are All Fucked Is One Bad Trip You Won’t Forget!

Demonbabies is the pseudonym of LA-based multimedia artist and filmmaker Jesus Rivera, and today his creepy new project You Are All Fucked landed on BitTorrent. But you don’t need to go anywhere else to see it – just scroll down the page a bit.

You Are All Fucked, a grimy, cotton candy-colored trip that will spook you like a dance with the devil, is Part 1 of a twisted trilogy presented by iHeartComix.

The aesthetic and imagery are unforgettable. Paired with chaotic jazz riffs of howling brass, haunting percussions, and an anxious mix of electronic guitar and synthesizers, artists Jesus Rivera and Jonnie Prey (the mad geniuses behind the short, pictured below) meticulously concoct a unique mood and style that will leave you thinking, simply… “WTF?”

“I have always loved the idea of mixing highbrow art gallery grade video performance art with lowbrow Grindhouse, sleazy big-boxed VHS horror movies of my youth,” explains director Rivera.

Synopsis:
Enter the twisted nightmare of that creepy uncle your mother warned you about, and try not to squirm and unravel as he stares into your soul. Hypnotized until completely mad, our antihero falls victim to the less-finer things in life.

Bloody Up Your Break with Shark-Themed Tea Bags

Here at Dread Central we’re used to reporting on some downright bizarre things to come out of the horror world, but this is something else entirely.

Japanese company Daisho Fishery Company is trying to raise ¥1 million to produce shark-themed tea products, including a shark-shaped teabag with a human diver-shaped label attached. Once you place the teabag into a pot of hot water (wait for it), red fluid pours out, making your drink a literal bloodbath. And if one diver isn’t enough and you fancy death on a massive scale, they’ve even got a hammerhead shark with a ship label attached.

Do you feel thirsty all of a sudden? Hell, I’m British and love my tea, dammit, so is it strange that the video and images below are making me thirsty for blood?

Are you in the mood for some good old fashioned raw meat? If you are, then check out the trailer for Carnivore, which recently hunted its way onto the web. Simon Wells writes and directs; Ben Loyd-Holmes, Atlanta Johnson, and Gregory Cox star.

In the film, a couple try to rekindle their flame during a remote cabin getaway, only to be hunted by a savage beast in the nearby woods. To be honest, I think that an arguing couple will be far more scary that any carnivorous monster, but what the hell do I know?

Carnivore’s Facebook page contains even more meat to pick off the bones.

Synopsis:
Dave and Abi’s relationship is ending, and in an effort to save it, Dave takes Abi to a remote cottage in a bid to reignite their passion. It doesn’t go well, and they get torn apart by a massive argument. At the same time a fearsome beast is weighing up its prey, lurking in the shadows of the forest gaining confidence to attack. Does the grumpy owner of the cottage have anything to do with it, and will anyone survive?

Ready for another tease of what awaits us when “The Exorcist” TV series debuts on Fox in September?  Then read on for the latest promo video!

“The Exorcist” (airing Fridays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT, on Fox) premieres on September 23rd; it is a contemporary psychological TV thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of terrifying demonic possession. Directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), the series stars Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Geena Davis (“Commander in Chief,” Thelma & Louise), Alfonso Herrera (“Sense8,” The Chosen), and Ben Daniels (“Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”).

About “The Exorcist”:
“THE EXORCIST” is a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. FATHER TOMAS ORTEGA (Alfonso Herrera) is the new face of the Catholic Church: progressive, ambitious, and compassionate. He runs a small but loyal parish in the suburbs of Chicago. He has no idea that his quiet life is about to change forever.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another priest finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle with evil. FATHER MARCUS BRENNAN (Ben Daniels) is a modern-day Templar Knight, an orphan raised since childhood by the Vatican to wage war against its enemies. Father Marcus is everything Father Tomas is not: relentless, abrasive, and utterly consumed by his sacred mission.

Caught in the middle is the RANCE family, members of Tomas’ parish. On the surface they’re a normal, suburban family, but all is not as it seems in this household. The patriarch, HENRY RANCE (guest star Alan Ruck), is slowly but surely losing his mind. Eldest daughter KATHERINE (Brianne Howey) has become a recluse who refuses to leave her room. Her younger sister, CASEY (Hannah Kasulka), thinks she’s hearing strange noises coming from inside the walls. And mother ANGELA (Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Geena Davis) has been plagued by recurring nightmares, each more frightening than the last. Angela believes there is something in the house, a demonic presence, growing stronger by the day. Desperate, she begs Father Tomas for help, unwittingly setting the naïve young priest on a collision course with Father Marcus. Separately, each faces an insurmountable task, but together they become the only hope against an evil force that has been mobilizing for centuries.
