None of us is going to Hell when we die because y’know, it ain’t real, but the upcoming horror game Agony from Polish developer Madmind Studio gives us a taste of what eternal damnation could be like. And it sure doesn’t taste like strawberries and cream.

An extended gameplay video was released at Gamescom, and damn, it looks nasty. This is a vision of Hell that will be haunting our dreams for years to come.

Agony does not yet have a release date, but we’re definitely keeping this hellish adventure on our video game watch list.

Some quick casting news has come in for the new Syfy series “Channel Zero,” as Deadline is reporting that “The Path” star Amy Forsyth has been tapped to topline the second installment of the horror anthology series, which has been subtitled “The No-End House.”

Inspired by Brian Russell’s “creepypasta” tale, “Channel Zero: The No-End House” tells the story of a young woman named Margot Sleator (Forsyth; pictured), who visits the No-End House, a bizarre house of horrors that consists of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms. When she returns home, Margot realizes everything has changed.

Nick Antosca will return as writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the second installment alongside executive producer Max Landis with Universal Cable Productions as the studio. The six-episode first installment of the series, “Channel Zero: Candle Cove,” is set to debut September 27. “Channel Zero: The No-End House,” part of the two-season original pickup for the show, will premiere in 2017.

Gamescom 2016: Dead Rising 4 Footage Looks Like Crazy Good Fun

Some Dead Rising 4 gameplay footage debuted at Gamescom, and as you’d expect, it features a ton of zombie hordes being slaughtered in the most brutal ways imaginable, not to mention some pretty sweet zombie selfies.

To be honest, aside from the reveal of a seemingly super-powered glowing zombie, this new footage doesn’t show us much of what we haven’t already seen; but damn, it’s always great fun to kill waves of the living dead.

Dead Rising 4 drops on December 6th (and Amazon is already taking pre-orders) so we don’t have long to wait until it’s zombie massacre time again.

Gamescom 2016: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Reveals Zombies in Spaceland; Goofiest Zombie Murder Since Dead Rising

For all that zombies have over-saturated just about every medium they have touched, there is still one place they have yet to ware out their welcome. I’m talking about Call of Duty‘s hit side project, the Zombies minigame. Ever since World at War, the mode that originally started out as an Easter Egg has since turned into the sole reason some fans purchase the game. The mode has seen many iterations so far, ranging from good old fashion Nazi Zombies to aliens. Some of the installments have been more well received than others, but the underlying theme has always been buckets of fun. With the newest installment, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, we see the triumphant return of the zombie archetype. Only this time, with way more lasers, disco, and sick 80’s ‘tude. Check out the trailer for “Zombies in Spaceland”:

Now, as a child of the 90’s, I’m not super into retro nostalgia that isn’t CatDog or Are You Afraid of the Dark?. What I am a fan of is squishing zombies in dinosaur jaws and vaporizing them in disco laser-storms. The last installment, “Shadows of Evil,” was far more of a black comedy, so I’m looking forward to the more colorful and lighthearted take. I’ll have more information soon when I check it out first hand, so stay tuned or check it out yourself withe Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare drops on November 4th.

I first reported on The Surge when it was revealed at E3 2016. Check out the video if you haven’t yet. At the time, there were a lot of details yet to be announced, so I told you all to stay tuned for more info as it developed. Well, here I am to make good on my promise. Gamescom 2016 has rolled around, and with it a whole slew of new info on The Surge. Check out the new 14 minute gameplay trailer:

If you’re a Dark Souls fan like me, there’s a lot to be excited about with The Surge. Truth be told, I really wasn’t expecting a lot of new information so soon after E3. Oh, was I wrong. New weapons, armors, and reveals on the crafting, leveling, cutscenes, and executes were all on display in this video. There wasn’t any new gameplay, but this kind of new information is exactly the kind of thing that fans crave. I know I’m supposed to temper my expectations, but I really can’t help but be excited to see how this one pans out. As always, stay tuned for more info, and I’ll fill you in as it develops.

New Injustice 2 Trailer A Treat For Suicide Squad Fans; Reveals Harley Quinn and Deadshot

$

When Mortal Kombat dropped back in 2011, it reminded us how the combination of brutal violence and solid fighting mechanics could come together in a kickass package. Ed Boon was back, baby, and ready to show the world that he still knew how to make fighting games more solid than me before Mileena took her mask off. While counting all of their MK money, they must have found the DC license they had just lying around from the days of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, and decided to rectify that mistake as well. The result was the no less than stellar Injustice: Gods Among Us. It was fast, brutal, fun, and unique without feeling forced. It’s one of those games that I still bust out when I feel like kicking someone’s ass with Black Adam. And when do I ever not feel like kicking someone’s ass with Black Adam?

Anywho, Injustice 2 got announced back in June, and since then I have been thirsty for new info. Luckily, just in time for Gamescom 2016, I get my wish with a new trailer showcasing Harley Quinn and Deadshot. Here it is in all its glory:

Before you start spurting hot nerd rage all over my article, yes I am aware that Harley Quinn was in the first game. Yes, I am aware that Deadshot was in the DC universe long before Will Smith decided to play him. Harley would most definitely have still been in the game without the recent Suicide Squad film. Deadshot? Eh… not so sure. Even though this version doesn’t seem to be modeled after Smith’s portrayal, you have to admit it’s very coincidental.

Don’t think that this is getting me down! The more the merrier, I say. I was even stoked when they announced Blue Beetle. This is a game where superheroes are put on an even level and let loose to kick the shit out of eachother. What’s not to like? Stay tuned for more Injustice 2 news, and check out my full review when it drops 2017.

Face VR Zombies This Month in Daylight’s End

Zombies have taken over almost every single medium known to man thus far, so it was only a matter of time before they also conquered the realm of VR! The upcoming film Daylight’s End will arrive in theaters on August 26, and a VR edition will be available on the same day.

From the Press Release:
Groove Jones – the Dallas-based virtual reality (VR) studio specializing in the production of 360º commercials and virtual reality – along with DAYLIGHT’S END’s theatrical director and writer, announces the planned release of a VR Edition of the film in conjunction with the theatrical release of the movie when it hits theaters on August 26th.

This is the first time a movie has been simultaneously released in theaters, as a digital download on iTunes, and as a VR experience. The movie will be available on all major VR platforms, including the HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR. The VR chapter of the film was directed by Dale Carman, Partner & Executive Creative Director (ECD) of Groove Jones.

“We think VR is a powerful storytelling medium, and we knew this movie had the right elements to show it off,” said Carman. “It was an amazing shoot, and we know that people will want to see what we created. Once movie audiences get the full VR experience, we believe this will be the first of many for the industry.”

DAYLIGHT’S END was shot in Dallas and points ranging from East Texas to the West Texas town of Rio (pop. 3) along the famed Route 66. The film is a hard driving action-horror-thriller starring Johnny Strong (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, BLACK HAWK DOWN), Lance Henriksen (ALIEN, TERMINATOR), and Louis Mandylor (MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, SINNERS AND SAINTS). The movie focuses on a rogue drifter who’s on a vengeful hunt, years after a mysterious plague has devastated the planet and turned most of humanity into blood-hungry creatures.

The cast and crew of the movie DAYLIGHT’S END regrouped to shoot some special scenes recently in Dallas. These scenes will appear in the VR Edition of the film. Carman collaborated with both William Kaufman (THE PRODIGY, SINNERS AND SAINTS, and THE HIT LIST), the DAYLIGHT’S END’s theatrical director, and Chad Law (THE HIT LIST, ISOLATION, and 6 BULLETS), the writer of the film, on post-production of the VR Edition.

“Seeing what Dale pulled off with this shoot in 360º turned out to be a great experience. He comes with a long resume of directing VR productions and really understands what will and will not work,” Kaufman said. “The look and feel and energy falls right in line with the film.”

Chad Law wrote the story for the VR vignette, in which movie fans will be able to recognize some friendly and unfriendly faces. The VR chapter is a prequel storyline that stars Johnny Strong, returning as “Thomas Rourke,” the dark and dangerous anti-hero in the feature film.

The scene also features the work of noted industry Stunt Coordinator Clayton Barber, who helped the actors with physical scenes that included escaping the undead for both the movie and the VR release. The VR Edition scenes were shot with the Jaunt ONE camera system, which includes 24 separate camera lenses to capture the 360º action.

Groove Jones leveraged their GrooveTech™ platform for the experience that works across all VR devices. The technology allows for the rapid development of VR applications that can utilize HD stereo video content in a 3D environment as well as real-time rendered objects within a 360º space. Several of Groove Jones’ commercial clients have licensed this technology for their brand activations. Leveraging this technology reduced the development time and allowed the team to focus on the story and creative.

“We are thrilled that we were able to get the theatrical team together for this VR experience,” said Carman. “Being agile and forward-thinking, we’ve pulled off something that everyone talks about, but rarely delivers.”

The VR Edition will be released on August 26th, the same day that the film is released in theaters. For more information visit daylightsendmovie.com and groovejones.com.

Jeff Katz Talks Planned Sleepaway Camp Reboot

Back in 2013 it was announced that former New Line exec Jeff Katz was intent on remaking slasher classic Sleepaway Camp, with plans to produce alongside star Felissa Rose and Robert Hiltzik, writer/director of the original film. What’s the latest on that project? We’ve got an exciting update today!

Speaking with The Movie Crypt, Katz just revealed that his take on Sleepaway Camp is actually a sequel to the original, rather than a remake of it. The film will pick up in the present day and find Angela locked away in Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. Of course, she eventually escapes, seeking refuge at Camp Arawak.

The plan is for Felissa Rose to reprise the iconic role.

You resolve her character while setting up the events of the new movie, which are tied directly to her and in a way which allows you to honor the original but spin off in an entirely new direction,” described Katz, suggesting that the film would serve as both a direct sequel and a fresh new reboot.

Katz says that production will begin as soon as a deal is made.

More casting news is here for Jon Turteltaub’s Meg, an adaptation of Steve Alten’s killer shark novel; and the cast continues to fill out. According to Deadline Rainn Wilson is the next actor on the menu

Warner Bros’ horror-adventure film centers on a huge shark from another time that wreaks havoc off the coast of present-day China. Jason Statham will portray a former Naval captain and expert deep-sea diver who’s recruited for a likely suicide mission — even though he faced the predator years before and was forced to abort his mission and abandon half his crew. Fan Bingbing, and Ruby Rose co-star.

Gravity Pictures will distribute the film in China, while Warner Bros. handles the pic throughout the rest of the world. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Belle Avery, and Colin Wilson are producing. Executive producers are Wei Wayne Jiang, Barrie M. Osborne, Randy Greenberg, and Gerald R. Molen.
