Looking for the perfect gift for the scream queen in your life? Then read on for the details, including a special 20% off discount code.

From the Press Release:
Rock n’ roll lifestyle company Metal Babe Mayhem (owned by Alison “MetalBabe” Cohen) has partnered with actress/scream queen Brooke Lewis to launch their “Scream Queen Brooke Lewis’ Pinup Girl” clothing line for the holidays in 2016.

Following the release of their “Rock Your Hot Mess” and “Ms. Vampy Design” clothing lines, the Girl Power duo has teamed up again to bring you a clothing design that moves women to “Scream like a QUEEN with Brooke Lewis at Metal Babe Mayhem” and men to “Warm up this winter with Scream Queen Brooke Lewis at Metal Babe Mayhem.”

Brooke is an actress and producer who has appeared in many different genres but is proudly known in the horror genre as a “scream queen” for her roles in iMurders, Slime City Massacre, and others as well as her comedic alter ego Ms. Vampy. She played Dr. Grace Sario in the horror/mystery Kinky Killers, which aired on Showtime, and in 2010 was honored with the “B Movie Golden Cob Award for Scream Queen of the Year” for her work in Greg Lamberson’s Slime City Massacre. When she is not acting, she can be found promoting her brands as a life coach, TV dating expert, author, and Metal Babe Mayhem Clothing partner as well as working with charities for female empowerment.

Alison, who is a “rock journalist with a clothing line,” established Metal Babe Mayhem in 2006 in an effort to support and promote rock n’ roll. Metal Babe Mayhem… Where Music and Fashion Meet houses hundreds of music reviews, band interviews, a monthly playlist, and over 200 unique products, including clothing, jewelry, and accessories.

Cohen and Metal Babe Mayhem created a “Pinup Girl” series and, with the success of the “Rock Your Hot Mess” and “Ms. Vampy Design” brands, chose to design the “Scream Queen Brooke Lewis’ Pinup Girl” for December 2016, just in time for “stocking stuffers” for the holidays.  This original design is brought to you by the incredible artistic talent of Bill Bronson. Bill created the original Metal Babe Mayhem lips/bones design and logo and worked with Alison and Brooke to design both their “Rock Your Hot Mess” and “Ms. Vampy Design” lines. Bill is most known for his work with Pin USA and has exceptional experience doing figure drawing. For more information on Bill, contact him at bronson71@msn.com.

Currently the clothing line consists of the “Scream Queen Brooke Lewis’ Pinup Girl” design on a variety of options, including tank tops, baby dolls, v-necks, long-sleeved shirts, and men’s t-shirts. Items can be purchased at Metal Babe Mayhem.  Be sure to use discount code #BROOKE16 to receive 20% OFF!

The Best Paranormal Evidence Ever Captured in The Gasp Menagerie

I’ve moved cases aside.  Shelving shuffled to make room.  Less interesting exhibits stocked away…

Front and center in this collection, right at the entrance, is a new exhibit.  Well lit, very secure, with a shiny brass plaque mounted on the front. On that plaque, the phrase “Exhibit A.”

I’ve examined countless pieces of evidence in my life.  Some of it was very interesting.  I’ve been disturbed once or twice.  Some things, like the digitally stabilized Patterson-Gimlin film of Sasquatch, amazed me, as it proved the existence of something previously unknown.  But Bigfoot is natural.  Just an animal we don’t see very often and haven’t cataloged officially.

This… friends, this is something entirely different.

There’s a YouTube channel called Exploring Abandoned Mines.  It features exactly what you’d think: videos of people exploring abandoned mines around the world.  It’s been around awhile, has over 20,000 subscribers, and has always featured videos matching the theme and nothing else.  It’s not a viral marketing account for a new film.  It’s not someone like the infamous secureteam10 who constantly promote bogus “evidence” videos.

On December 1st they posted a video titled “Creepy Sounds Captured in an Abandoned Mine While Reviewing the ThruNite TN12 Flashlight.”  The video is just that: an explorer named Frank visiting the abandoned Waldeck Mine in Western Australia while showing off the capabilities of a very bright flashlight.  This also fits the previous content, as they’d frequently reviewed this kind of gear on the channel before.

After a relatively uneventful beginning reaching the back of the small mine, going over the features and history, something is very clearly heard on the video.  Frank comments on it, turns around.  Hears nothing.  He walks back towards the back of the mine again; then it starts in earnest.

What it is can only be described as… vocalizations.  Some report hearing English phrases.  I heard no such thing.  I heard a hissing language, a chant, wrapping and looping around itself as if several versions of the same voice were going at the same time, slightly offset.  It’s not some brief burst.  It continues.  Frank is audibly upset.  Even in this extremely old, unstable mine, Frank was fearless.  This has him shaken.  He tries to blame it on birds or even snakes.  But it keeps going, and it pursues him as he heads out of the mine.  He eventually just ends the video abruptly and focuses on getting out of there.

I have to warn you.  Personally, this audio upset me.  I only listened closely once.  I want to study it, but I don’t want to hear it again.  All I could get from this is HATE.  Just ugly, evil hate.   Like I could feel it on my brain more than hear it.  This is a bad place… and a bad thing.  If you’re impressionable, if you’re sensitive, think about whether you want to listen to this.

The following is the original video.  The sounds start around the twelve-minute mark.

If you want to hear an isolated version of the audio, the following video (mislabeled as EVP, which this is not; it’s AVP) contains the audio.

The source seems unimpeachable.  There’s no way it’s a hoax.  The sounds are unmistakable.  It can’t be something we’re mistaking for vocalizations.  It isn’t human.  Not a normal human voice, to be sure.  Frank is clearly alone.  It can’t be a prank.

It’s clear it has no natural source that can be explained by science, and there’s no way it can be a hoax.

Guys, this is it.  This is the best evidence I’ve ever experienced of true paranormal activity.  It’s what many of us have been waiting for.

PROOF.

Explore The Gasp Menagerie!

Have a weird story? Potential evidence of the supernatural, or at least something hard to explain? Spot any creepy critters out there roaming the wilds? LET ME KNOW! I’d love to talk about it and possibly write it up right here in The Gasp Menagerie. You’ll get appropriate credit, of course, and everyone else will get fresh creepy (as opposed to fresh Creepy, which, trust me… nobody wants that) to enjoy. As always, I can be found at mrdark@dreadcentral.com. Now get out there, find some weird, and let’s get this party started.

“We are excited to start this new chapter of Blumhouse Television with ’12 Deadly Days,’” said Gold and Wiseman. “Chris and Jennifer created a unique and original series that Troy and his team at Dakota, along with Josh and Pat, have helped bring to life. YouTube Red is the perfect home for such an irreverent and scary series, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Better Watch Out! Bill Moseley Reminisces About Silent Night, Deadly Night 3

Around these parts we’re HUGE fans of the the Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise. They range from incredible to sleazy, to incredibly sleazy with gusto to spare. The star of Part 3: Better Watch Out recently spoke a bit about the film and his role in it with Broke Horror Fan.

I remember that was the first movie I ever cried in,” Moseley tells the site. “I could slice and dice people, but when I was asked if, need be, would I ever be able to cry on screen, I was afraid that I couldn’t. I was the son of marine, a tough kid growing up in the country in Illinois, not a very emotional person. But in Silent Night, Deadly Night 3, I actually cried. There’s a moment where I was getting fed by a very wonderful grandmother character, who gives me soup even though I have this brain cap with my exposed brain and a bunch of orange juice. Everything says, ‘Don’t let this guy in your house.’ But I ate a spoonful of her turkey soup, and I started crying. Monte Hellman was deeply touched. [laughs] That was my happy reminiscence. I really enjoyed working with Monte Hellman. Who knew that Monte would ever do a horror movie? I enjoyed the part. I didn’t get hurt, so that was good. That check did clear.

Syfy has another genre series on its way in “Superstition,” and we have your first word and details right here. Read on for the skinny!

From the Press Release:
Syfy has given a 13-episode direct-to-series order to “SUPERSTITION,” a supernatural genre series produced by XLrator Media and Mario Van Peebles’ newly launched TV production company MVPTV, which is set to begin production in early 2017 and air on Syfy later in the year.

XLrator Media’s Barry Gordon and MVPTV’s Mario Van Peebles will produce, and Van Peebles (“Roots,” “Bloodline,” “Hand of God,” “Empire,” “Lost”) will also write, direct, and star in some of the episodes. Joel Anderson Thompson (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Boomtown,” “House M.D.”) has been tapped as showrunner, and Laurence Andries (“Alias,” “Six Feet Under,” “Supernatural,” “The Pacific”) will executive produce. The dynamic writing team of Brusta Brown and John Mitchell Todd (“Defiance,” “Mech-X4”) have also boarded the series. XLrator Media holds international distribution and sales rights.

The series centers around the Mosley family, owners of the only funeral home in a fictitious town on the outskirts of New Orleans and keepers of the town’s dark secrets and history. Known for its haunted houses, elevated graveyards, odd townsfolk, and rich history of unusual phenomena, the town is also a “landing patch” for the world’s darkest manifestations of fear, guided into the world by an ancient, mysterious malefactor named The Dredge.

“’SUPERSTITION’ is an intelligent, boundary-pushing genre series rich in supernatural lore and myths, featuring an eccentric family who have an unusual connection to an otherworldly plane and the dark force that unleashes the demons, creatures, and monsters that haunt our nightmares. There is a voracious global audience always seeking the next well-crafted genre series, as evidenced by the success of ‘American Horror Story,’ ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Supernatural,’ ‘True Blood,’ ‘Six Feet Under,’ and others. ‘SUPERSTITION’ is being produced and created by people who love and appreciate genre content. XLrator is proud to partner with Syfy and Mario Van Peebles on our first network television series,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

“The incredible things we used to do in independent film we can now do in television. This is truly a golden era for exciting, provocative television,” said Mario Van Peebles.

“A town where all superstitions, myths, and legends are true offers a rich cultural, atmospheric and macabre playground for Mario Van Peebles, Barry Gordon, Joel Anderson Thompson, and Laurence Andries to explore. We are excited to work with this terrific team and look forward to bringing this unique story to Syfy,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Syfy Programming.

Another Little Shop of Horrors Remake on its Way

You know, I was just thinking to myself, “Know what we need? Another remake of Little Shop of Horrors, that’s what!” Okay, so that was a flat-out lie, but someone is definitely thinking it…

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is moving forward with a new incarnation of Little Shop of Horrors with Greg Berlanti set to direct and Matthew Robinson writing the script. Marc Platt is producing, and Sarah Schechter is exec producer.

This one will be a musical, a fresh version of the 30-year-old Frank Oz-directed film, which was based on the Roger Corman-directed 1960 low budget sci-fi campy tale about a clumsy young man who raises a plant, discovers it is carnivorous, and kills to keep it fed. There was a memorable scene with Jack Nicholson as a pain-seeking dental patient in the original, replicated in the musical by Bill Murray.

The 1986 film was scripted by Howard Ashman from his off-Broadway musical, with tunes crafted with his frequent collaborator Alan Menken.

More as it comes.

In a move that shouldn’t surprise anyone, the stellar Korean zombie flick Train to Busan (review) is getting an English language remake. Variety is reporting that French studio Gaumont is behind the project.

The deal was unveiled Wednesday jointly by Gaumont and the film’s Korean distributor-financier Next Entertainment World. The film premiered in the midnight screening section of the Cannes festival in May and attracted immediate sales and remake interest. Fox and Sony were among the Hollywood studios known to have pursued a deal. Bidders also included Studiocanal and EuropaCorp, two French companies that regularly produce English-language genre fare.

We are more than happy to start our business with Gaumont, one of the greatest film companies with rich experience in terms of global projects. We hope this opportunity could let Korean films get more attention and be familiar with the audience all over the world,” said Kim Woo-taek, CEO of NEW.

In Korea, the film was seen as an allegory for the turbulent political situation currently gripping the coountry, and became a smash hit. Now the year’s top grossing film, it has amassed $80.5 million since its July release.

The original film, directed by animator Yeon Sang-ho making his live-action debut, was set inside a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan. Sources close to the deal told Variety that political allegories of a different kind may emerge.

Gaumont’s CEO Sidonie Dumas said the company had been “chasing the remake since Cannes Film Festival where the whole team loved it so much.

We’re excited to start working on the U.S. adaptation that will mark our first foray into English-language moviemaking in Los Angeles,” added Dumas.

Key staff, cast and production schedules have not yet been confirmed.

Cecile Gaget, Gaumont’s head of international production and distribution who negotiated the deal with Danny Lee and Vincent Kim at Contents Panda, said Gaumont is currently packaging the film and has already been approached by several Hollywood talent agencies and prominent directors.

The film will be set in the U.S. with Gaumont’s L.A.-based branch handling the production. Gaumont has just made a key appointment at its Los Angeles office to oversee English-language productions.

More as it comes.
